SQL 2012 :: Import Outlook Folder Or PST?

Mar 9, 2014

I've got an archive of old emails from a previous employer I want to import in SQL for a little side project - to make the emails easily searchable, queryable, and to do a few things with the contacts. I've stripped all the attachments out because I didn't want to store them or have them cause issues.

I don't know of a way to do this - exporting the folder in Outlook to CSV is garbage. That CSV file is so mangled with junk...

I tried access, but get this error in 2013 when trying to import for an external source

Microsoft Access can't find the wizard. This wizard has not been installed, or there is an incorrect setting in the Windows Registry, or this wizard has been disabled.

I don't have any addin - I installed Access from the web....i can't imagine an incorrect setting, but I've tried repairing and search Google with no luck...

I need to load images from folders into a SQL Server table and I have done it successfully for individual images, however I need to load all the names of the folders and sub folders names in separate columns + load all images.

So the folders look like as in the screenshot and the final result of the table in SQL Server should look like the second screenshot.

SQL 2012 :: Bulk Insert From Remote Folder Location

Jan 20, 2015

SQL Server 2012 running under a domain Managed Service Account. (Server A)
File located on a Windows 2012 server in a directory which has been shared to user A. (Server B).
User A is a domain account and is using his laptop, (laptop C) which is using SSMS to run a bulk insert command.

User A (Bulk Insert from laptop SSMS Client) --- > SQL Server (server A) --- > File Server (Server B)

The command fails and is returning Access denied to the file/folder share on Server B.

Running the same command on the SQL Server (Server A), the command works fine, so this is a double hop kerberos issue.

If I use a SQL Login from Laptop C, then the command works fine as the SQL Server will use the SQL's Managed service account to connect to the file share, which is set up for delegation and impersonation.

I am struggling to work out why a domain user cannot bulk insert a file from a remote location. I have checked that the user is connected with Kerberos authentication and they are. All articles seem to talk about setting up SPN's for the SQL Server so that SQL Login authentication can work over remote bulk insert, and just say to set up the file share properties properly if using a domain account.

What I am missing to allow domain accounts to bulk insert remotely, from a remote file share?

I know I'm supposed to see a Users Folder in the Report Manager root, I'm setup as a system administrator (under Site Settings) and also have content manager rights in the root directory and I still don't see the "Users Folders" ...the only way I can see that is if they give me admin rights in the server SSRS is installed. What am I missing here, is this supposed to be like that?

SQL 2012 :: SSIS FTP Task - Can't Move From Child Folder To Parent

Jan 13, 2015

I have set up an FTP connection that tests successfully. I can log on to the FTP site with the same credentials and see my root folder, and within that, two more folders. In my FTP task, I want to receive files to my local machine. The problem is that the only remote path available is not at the root level, and the only thing I can see are files from one of the child folders, but not the child folder I want.

Is it possible in the remote path to change folders? The remote path just shows a "/", which I thought would be the root level, but it is somehow linked to a child folder.I've tried various combinations to get to the folder I want, /root folder/child folder, but that gives the error that the folder does not exist.

If I open the FTP Task Editor, click on File Transfer, and click the ellipses for the Remote Path, the Browse For File box opens, with a "/" in the Location section, and a list of files in the child folder that I do not want to be in. If I click the "Up Directory" button, I get the message "Already at top level directory".

how I can get the files from one particular folder on the FTP site?

"cannot copy ASPNETDB: it is being used by another person or program. close any programs that might be using the file and try again."
After reading the above message, i close visual web developer, stop the website in IIS and stop the SQLExpress service on the server and try again but still get the same message.
So how can i make sure that all the programs accessing these database files are closed such that i'm able able to copy them to a different location.

SSIS Or SQl Agent Job Moving From A Network Folder To A Sharepoint Folder - Errors...

Oct 31, 2007

Ok,

I have a network folder called A

I have a SharePoint (2007) Document Library site called B. Web Client is enabled on the server and B is mapped as a Drive (let's call it Y for this discussion)

I want to move documents in A to B. Easy enough, right? Not so....

I first started by creating a batch file that issues a COPY \A \Y /Y at the command prompt. Viola! Worked Great!

I then moved that command to a SQL Agent job as a CMDExec statement (exact same statement) and attempted to run it.....CRASH! It found the files in A but then said "The system cannot find the path specified"

Ok, so I tried it in SSIS. CRASH! Checked the error log. Same thing...

So I then checked the account under which the SQl Agent was running (special domain account for all our SQL Servers). Thinking it might mater I changed it to run under my name (I'm in Domain admin). I also ensured I had permissions to the SPS 2007 library as well. (I did).

Ran again! CRASH! Same error....

So, I created a batch file , placed thec ommand in the batch file and ran that from the command prompt! Viola! Worked Great.

So, I was thinking of how ingenious I was as I pasted my C:RootCopy.bat into my SQL Agent job. With a big grin on my face I right clicked and picked "Start Job at step".......CRASH! Same error.

Does anyone have any ideas on this ???????????????

Thanks,
Stephen

Can I Use The Foreach Loop To Obtain The Sub Folder Names Within A Folder?

Sep 4, 2006

I have a set of folders with the following structure:

MainFolder

1999

SpreadsheetA.xls

SpreadsheetB.xls

SpreadsheetC.xls

2000

SpreadsheetA.xls

SpreadsheetB.xls

SpreadsheetC.xls

etc.

Is there a way that I can use the foreach loop container to loop the sub folders? My plan was to get the folder name and path into a variable, use this to build the connection string for each file in this folder, carry out the upload for that folder, then move onto the next folder and do the same thing, but I cannot see a way to do this.

Thanks,

SQL 2012 :: View Resolution Order

I'm just wondering what is the resolution or execution order for a query like this (simplified version):

CREATE VIEW ClosedSales AS
SELECT *
from NatSales
where CurrentFlag = 1
and ValidTo <> '9999-99-99'
Select * from ClosedSales
where CustomerId = 10

The thing I want to know is:

- If first the complete dataset from the view is calculated and the the CustomerId=10 filter is applied
- Or the CustomerId=10 condition is added to the where clause in the view definition

My real case is much more complex but that is an interesting point in my performance analysis.

Probably not the best "Subject Title", but no the less what I am looking for is a way to get the order in which I should insert data into a table that has 10 FK's to it. I have queries that list them out for me, but they do that in what seems to be alphabetical order. You can also right click the table in question and select view dependencies, but that as well appears to be in alphabetical order.

example is my item 10702, it is showing 2 records (both valid ones)

Record 2 is order # 10510-0, requested delivery date 04/29/2014

SELECT
s.SalesQuoteNumberAS 'PriorQuoteNumber'

SQL Server 2012 :: How To Modify ORDER BY Clause At Runtime Using Parameter

Jun 4, 2015

the code below works (this is only a quick dumbed down version of the actual code, it might not work 100% for all cases). Is it at all possible to exploit the functions that were added to SSQL since v. 2005 to simplify this code ?

In SSRS, a parameter allows the user to create a list of invoices (from CRM) to be ordered in any of the following ways the user prefers:

'Document Date (most recent date first)'
'Document Number (highest number first)'
'Document Date (most recent first) and Number'
'Document Number (lowest number first)'

The invoices have a (supposedly) sequential identity-generated number. However Accounting may want to set a different date than the creation date on some invoices. So there is no way the invoice numbers will be in the same sequence as the invoice dates.

So I just created the "sorting fields" - they appear as junk in the output dataset (just do not drop them in the SSRS tablix - they have to be part of the SELECT statement to be usable in the ORDER BY clause.

The code is:

DECLARE @ls_OrderBy varchar(80)
--'Document Number (highest number first)'
--'Customer and Document Date (most recent date first)'
--'Customer and Document Number (highest number first)'
--'Document Date (most recent first) and Number'

[code]....
