Jul 30, 2014I have a setup of transaction replication between one publisher and subscriber in the Same server.Now, I need to add a new subscriber to the existing publisher. So publisher database name is DB_A and Subscriber 1 name is DB_B. So the new subscriber will be DB_C. Is this kind of setup possible on one server?
If yes then at the time of reinitialization is it going to apply the snapshot on DB_B as well as DB_C?Also let say if due to disk error DB_B gets corrupted then will data be still replicated between DB_A and DB_C? (Assuming publisher, subscriber 1 and 2 are sitting on individual disks).

Table B (Grouping, Stages)
Table A could look like the following where the multiple employees could have multiple types and multiple stages.
EmployeeNumber, Type, Stages
100, 1, Stage1

100, 2, Stage1
100, 2, Stage2
200, 1, Stage1
200, 2, Stage2
Table B is a list of requirements that each employee must have. So every employee must have a type 1 and 2 and the associated stages listed below.
Type, Stage
1, Stage1
1, Stage2
2, Stage1
2, Stage2
2, Stage3
2, Stage4
So I know that each employee should have 2 Type 1's and 4 Type 2's. I hope that makes sense, I'm trying to change my data because ours is very proprietary.
I need to identify employees who do not have all their stages and list the stages they are missing. The final report should only have employees and the associated missing types and stages.
I do a count by employee to see how many types they have to identify the ones that don't have all the types and stages.
My count would look something like this:
EmployeeNumber Type Total
100, 1, 2
100, 2, 2
200, 1, 1
200 1, 2
So I know that employee 100 should have 2 more Type 2's and employee 200 should have 1 more Type 1 and 2 more Type 2's based on the required list.
The problem I'm having is taking that required list and joining to my list of employees with missing data and pulling from it the types and stages that are missing by employee. I thought I could get a list of the employees that are missing information and right join it to the required list where the missing records would be nulls. But, that doesn't work because some employees do have the required information and so I'm not getting any nulls returned.
How To Setup Merge Replication With Sql Express
Jun 12, 2007I have a Windows Mobile aplication that uses merge replication to synchronize between sql compact and full sql Enterprise edition and It works great. Instantiating the SqlCeReplication object setting it's properties and calling Synchronize on it is pretty simple assuming everything is setup properly at the publisher.
For the life of me I can't figure out how to do this on the desktop (Programatically setup a subscription and create a database using objects in the System.Replication Namespace and hopefully call Synchronize on it).
Someone please point me in the right direction.

SQL 2012 :: RPC Server Is Unavailable During Setup
Apr 27, 2015Working with a brand new environment. During install (both SQL 2012 and 2014) on any one of four servers, they all fail on the service accounts page with a "RPC server is unavailable" error and "The SQL Server service account login or password is not valid."
I've verified that RPC server is unavailable is related to only the agent, and the account invalid is only for the engine. Verified this by trying each one separately and putting the other back to default. For the latter (account login or password is not valid), that's definitely not accurate being that I can use that account & password successfully elsewhere.

I've verified all 5 are in place and changed the group policy. Still errors out every time. Even if I can fix the RPC issue, not sure what's wrong with the engine account? I think both issues still stem back to the RPC, even though the engine doesn't report it in the setup. In the detail log, I'm assuming "Slp: Sco.User.OpenRoot - root DirectoryEntry object already opened for this computer for this object" is the core of my problem.

SQL Server Express SP1 Setup Changes
Apr 20, 2006 The just released SP1 version of SQL Server Express has a file name of sqlexpr.exe. The previous setup file was named sqlexpr32.exe. Why would Microsoft change the file name?
Anyway, the file name change obviously breaks the file name that is coded in the bootstrapper package.xml file. Also, the link address will need to change (I suppose Microsoft couldn't just put a new version at the same link with the same file name so that everything would just keep working?)
Is there a revised package.xml file we can use? If not, do we use the same publickey?
Are the necessary changes documented anywhere?

I downloaded Visual Studio Express CD Image named "vcs.iso". I did not do the installation because I'm not the admin.
Does it comes with SQL Express and the SQL Server Management Studio Express?
Another question is, Is it possible to move the database (with the data as well) from SQL Express to SQL Server?
I have a pc for developing application using all the express edition and There is a Server with SQL Server edition.
Its 2 different pc so will there be a problem?

The datafolder exists, sql cluster service account from domain added in to snapshot folder, administrators access also on this folder.

In my VB 2005 Express, I created a Windowds Form application "shcDataSet" that used 1 SqlConnection, 1 SqlDataSet and 3 SqlDataAdapters associated with the Northwind Database in my SQL Server Management Studio Express. The SqlConnection had "User Instance" in the following ConnectionString: Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename="C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLDataorthwnd.mdf";Integrated Security=True;Connect Timeout=30;User Instance=True. The 3 SqlDataAdapters were for the Northwind files "Customers", "Orders" and "Order Details" used in the SQLDataSet "AllOrders" with a AllOrders.xsd file. I ran the "shcDataSet" applicatyion and it worked fine. After the execution of "shcDataSet", I checked the Northwind database in my SQL Server Management Studio Express and clicked on "+" in front of Northwind database-I did not see any file showed up and I got the following error message: Failed to retrieve data for this request. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Express.SmoEnum) Additional information: one or more files do not match the primary file of the database. If you are attempting to attach a database, retry the operation with the correct files. If this is an existing database, the file may be corrupted and should be restored from a backup. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error:5173). If I executed the "shcDataSet" application again, I got a new error: SqlException was unhandled - Cannot open user default database. Login failed. Login failed for user 'myPC##myName' ------->daCustomers.Fill(AllOrders11, "Customers"). I have 3 questions to ask: (1) How can I re-install the Northwind database in SQL Server Management Studio Express? (2) When I use the .Fill Method, do I have to tell the SQL Server Management Studio Express to load and/or unload the Northwind files "Customers", "Orders" and "Order Details"? Jul 23, 2005I've installed and unistalled SQL Server 2000 and MSDE on my computeras I needed it (my machine is a development machine).I've tested SQL Server B2 and then uninstalled it, now when I try toinstall SQL Server Express B3 I can't get the client side tools toinstall (the command lines).The server is apperantly working, but I can't log into it because Idon't get any of the clients.How do I fix this?

Northwind database from a .aspx web page. I get the following:
Error reading the database. An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)
Do I have to do anything for setup?

Nov 19, 2015when i open my computer and want to use SQL SERVER and when iam connecting it this error will occur "A network related or instance specific Error in SQL SERVER 2012" Then aim going to Services and Find SQLSERVER and start the services and it will connect..My Question is that why every time iam going to Start the services..I want to connect Automatically when i click on connect button in sql server its very rediculous to go evrytime in Services. i update my window 8.1 to windows 10 before it will connect automatically no need to go in services to start the SQLSERVER.

SQL Server 2005 Express Adv. SP2 Setup Fails To Install SQL Server Database Serices Only.
Mar 26, 2007I run setup using GUI. It upgrades all components of the existing installation w/out any problems except the last component. That is, it proceeds with the installation of SQL Server Database Serices and at the end fails to shut down the SQL Server and aborts the installation reporting the following:
"Service 'Computer_NameSQLEXPRESS' could not be stopped. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to stop system services. The error code is (16386)".
I am running Windows XP SP2 with both .NET 2.0 and .NET 3.0 installed on it. I am logged in as a system administrator.
The most puzzling to me things are:
- the setup starts AND STOPS w/out any problems SQL Server Reporting Services and SQL Server VSS Writer (thus finding enough privileges for both).
- the setup starts the SQL Server w/out any problems (thus it finds enough privileges to START A SYSTEM SERVICE) and then fails as described above 'lucking privileges".
During installation before failing the setup displays following:
"Run as Normal User. RANU instance Shutdwon in progress: MSSQL$SQLEXPRESS". The "normal user" puzzles me too, unless the SQL Server itself is meant here.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I can provide the installation log file as well.

I have been unable to install SQL Express 2005 Server on my Windows 2003 Server (with SP2 installed). I keep getting an error message saying that Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1 is not installed.

So, I downloaded Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1 v2 (WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe) but whenever I try to install it I get an error message saying that "the Service Pack version of this system is newer than the update you are applying" and that there is no need to install the update and it stops there.

Is there a workaround to this? How can I get Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1 installed? I tried going to the Windows Update site, I already have everything installed and I even started the Windows Installer service manually. Has anyone else experienced this?
How can I get SQL Server 2005 Express installed if not how can I install SQL Server 2000 on tihs machine? The only reason I am trying to install SQL Server 2005 is because wanted to try it so I uninstalled SQL Server 2000 now I can no longer install SQL Server 2000 again because it won't let me because of the SP2 patch.
Help! :(

I looked in this forum at others peoples threads and it seems as if they all have a lot larger Summary.txt file. I never had any other verson of SQL Server installed on this computer and i just uninstalled .net 2.0 framework and reinstalled it.
My computer runs Windows XP Pro with SP 2, AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3500+ 2.20 GHz, 1.00GB of RAM.
Anyone have any clue why the installation wont even start?

Nov 12, 2006Someone please help me, Im trying to set up SQLServer on my website(IIS v4.0) and I cant seem to get any web apps that use SQL to intall correctly, I get errors like, SQL does not recieve remote connections by default, or just 'Server Not Found'.
This is what I need to know
- How to set SQL to accept incomming remote connections
- Where to find the Name of the SQL instance
- Is it a good idea to have a password on the db, and how do I add one
- A walkthrough on how to set up SQL Express 2005(what to do after the istall is complete)
As you can see Im very new to SQL. So any information you could give to help would be greatly appreciated.

I have set up the alias on the server and as expected it works. On the client side I have used the SQL Server Client Network Utility to configure the client side alias but no luck

I need to set the sa password during installation of sql server . i have no option to set the password during installation, can any one help
