SQL 2012 :: Migration Of SSIS Script - (binary Code Not Found)
Jul 6, 2015
exporting an SSIS from a 2008 R2 SQL Server and re-import it into a SQL 2012.
I have inherited an SQL 2008 R2 Server running two SSIS packages. I have both as .dtsx files and & a manifest to install. The task at hand is now to migrate those to a new SQL 2012 server.[There is also an IIS running on that machine and project-specific .dll and stuff within the IIS document root. I do not know if these .dlls relate to the IIS web page or to the SQL .dtsx) But the migrated web site runs fine].
Installation of the packages into the MSDB works out flawlessly and one of the scripts runs fine, but the other fails to run with the error:
"Error: the binary code for the script is not found. Please open the script in the designer by clicking Edit Script button and make sure it builds successfully."
Google tell me something about a "Pre-compile option"-setting on server as explained here. I can not find this option setting anywhere in SSMS. Also as the migration is from 2008 R2 -> 2012 this should not be relevant as in both versions pre-compilation should be automatic, right?
- I installed visual studio 2013 community
- I installed SSDTBI
- Start the "Integration Services Import Project Wizard"
to import the SSIS directly from the "Integration Services Catalog"
However, things don't quite work very well - Trying to import (from the locally installed SQL instance) it will not display the tree of SSIS stuff, but only the root directory.
So importing directly from the running system won't work. Let's see if we can get somewhere with the .dtsx As I _do_ actually have the .dtsx files here, why not open them up directly in Visual studio and try to get compiled whatever needs to be compiled.I create a new "integration Services" Project and open up the .dtsx into this project. ==> LOTS of errors of all kind.
(The job of this script is to fetch messages from an Exchange.)But opening up this specific bit of code doesn't work a bit - there is no binary code in it and how to reate it or where to get it from...
After adding Service Reference to WebService, the Script Component has Binary Code not found, red circle not showing these are the steps I followed:
1) Add Script Component as Source 2) Add 3 x Output Columns Col1,2 and 3 3) Add HTTP Connection URL>..Binary Code not found, red circle showing 4) Add test code to Sub CreateNewOutputRows Dim i As Integer = 6 Binary Code not found, red circle not showing 5) Add Service Reference URL...Binary Code not found, red circle showing again
Should just adding Service Reference cause Binary Code not found, red circle to appear. I have to set precompilescripttobinary option , however cannot see this option in 2012
I have a script task that I've created that just displays a MsgBox as listed in Professional SQL Server 2005 Integration Services in chapter 4. The problem is that when I exit the VSA design tool there is a red "X" on the task that says in a popup:
"The task is configured to pre-compile the script, but binary code is not found. Please visit the IDE..."
I go back into the script design, and the code is there, and the PreCompile propterty IS set to True. Attempting to EXECUTE the task only results in a similar error, just more verbose without actually giving any additional insight.
I've read the thread on where the VSA code is deleted on closing.. but my code is still there.. it just isn't seeing the binary code (if it actually exists).
When my ForEach Loop runs, when a file does not exist on the server, I am getting a File does not exist error.I would prefer to write a mesaage to my log and then move on to the next step successfully. When I got to Event Handlers and select OnTaskFailed, what do I want to do from here?
We made SSIS package in dev environment in windows 2008R2 and SQL server 2012. Same packages were placed on SAN disks in cluster environment and are invoked with security contexxt of admin user and wih dtexec utility ( we call this using an sp). rarely but procedure completed i see the log text file by SSIS package and find the return code 5 means package is unable to load. i canst found what are the exact reasons for return code 5.
First of all let me say that ASP.NET a new programming environment for me so please forgive my ignorance. Can someone please tell me how to write data to a SQL table that is a Binary data type? I have a stored procedure on the SQL server that I am calling to insert data into a table. I build a parameter list and set the values. It worked just fine before I added a binary field to the SQL table. My problem is that I don't know how to set the Binay data type to pass it to the stored procedure. Here is part of the code: GetCMD = Myconnection.CreateCommand GetCMD.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure GetCMD.CommandText = "SCHEMANAME.InsertLineItem" GetCMD.Parameters.Add("HEADER_ID", SqlDbType.VarChar, 150) GetCMD.Parameters("HEADER_ID").Value = "some value" GetCMD.Parameters.Add("@OPTIONS", SqlDbType.Binary) GetCMD.Parameters("@OPTIONS").Value = HOW DO I SET THIS VALUE???? rowsaffected = GetCMD.ExecuteNonQuery() I assume serialization but have not figured out how. Anyone's help is greatly appreciated!!
I have set the PrecompileScriptIntoBinaryCode property to true, but the Script Component show the message "can't find the binary code" after I finish the script language and save it . What's wrong with it ? I ever tried the same code, and it's OK with no problem. When did the problem happen ?
I am trying to backup and restore a 20GB SQL database from a SQL Server 2012 to another SQL Server 2014, but I have come across the following issues:
1) The developers [against best practice] have stored multiple images in fields within the database as binary code.
This therefore exceeds the 65532 character limit in some fields, so even though the images do show [based upon the data saved within this field], I cannot find the data in the field beyond this 65532 limit, within SQL Server.
How can I export / locate this data after the 65532 character limit?
2) When I have attempted to restore the database I am getting this error message:
Restore of database 'zapkam' failed. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.RelationalEngineTa sks)
Additional information:
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: RESTORE detected an error on page (1:1592996) in database "zapkam" as read from the backup set. (Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoExtended)
I have managed to restore two other smaller databases using the same technique, but am wondering if it's an issue with the database itself.
3) I have uploaded this database to the new server using FileZilla FTP Client, but it has cut out, painfully at 80% + 90% on a couple of occasions.
Is there a better solution for uploading these big files that I could possibly use? For example, uploading table by table or similar...
I have converted a access database to sql server 2000 for some reason i keep getting this error base table not found. I know the sql database is there and i also know the table is there. I'm not sure why i keep getting this error..
I have been trying to store binary file in a folder from the SQL Server.
Here is the code I am using to do this but, it is not working. It doesn't show any error only shows 1 row(s) affected. The folder remains empty after running this query.
I was assigned a project to read binary data file (2G) and select data from OrderID, OrderDate and Price three columns (there are about 50 columns) into SQL table.
Where to start? Do I need to convert entire binary data file into text file?
Usually when in the process of migration, how to calculate how much time it will take to migrate the database. If a database full backup is taking approximately 3 hr how much time it will take to restore that database.
Which process is better to migrate the SQL server from 2008 to 2014.
Database migration wizard or restoring the db using backup file?
Usually if you are new to the sql server and you don't have any idea about the OS how can you find how much time it will take for migration for each database and for all databases
I'm preparing a checklist for myself before getting ready to migrate from 2005 to 2012. Our largest database is a nice one at over 250GB. I'm thinking my best bet to minimize any downtime would be to Restore the DB (NORECOVERY) on the new server and keep rolling it forward with the transactional logs. Eventually I'll need to bring the old DB offline and do one last backup and apply that one to the new server but that should be a small time frame given the whole process could take several hours.
I have a problem with this ActiveX Script. I need to find out why I'm getting this error message: "retrieving the file name for a component failed with error code ..." I think it has something to do with my global variable setting. Am I right? Help please.
I am currently in the process of migrating my DTS packages to SSIS---one at a time---and have come accross the following error during the excecution of a "Copy SQL Server Objects Task". The exact error is:
[Transfer SQL Server Objects Task] Error: Execution failed with the following error: "Version80 database compatibility level is not supported.".
What I am doing with this particular task is to copy a table(s) from another SQL Server, to the current SQL Server. The original location is a SQL2000 DB table. In the near future the source server for this table will be a SQL 2005 server but not until the current migration has been completed.
I have looked at all of the properties, but can not find anything relating to the db compatibilty level. Is there an easier way? Or a setting that I can change to accomplish what I am trying?
Hi everybody, I would REALLY appreciate it if some had a link to a good tutorial about migration from DTS to SSIS, but without visual studio . net. For example I need to use DTS package in sql server 2005 and execute them, I used migration wizard (SQL 2005) but it didn't work because i have in my computer sql 2000 et sql 2005 and the server name is PC2, however when i use the server source PC2 and the server destination PC2 an error message appear "server destination should be a sql server 2005 instance ".
help me please.. Thanks very much anyone response my question.
Have migrated my SQL 2000 DTS packages to SSIS packages through the package migration Wizard. Also, the hurdle to schedule it as a job has been resolved. But, the concern is the package contains entrieslins for old dataserver.
Is it possible to edit the SSIS pckage using management studio or integration services?
I'm encountering a problem with a variable evaluated as an expression, wherein approx. 1 per 1000 runs the variable does not get (re-)evaluated in time, and thus its design time (evaluated) value gets used. This is happening either because a) I'm not handling the variable and/or the control flow correctly, b) I have no right to assume that SSIS will (re-)evaluate it 'in time', as defined by myself, or c) I've found a Microsoft bug. Answers ('a','b' or 'c') would be greatly appreciated:
I have 2 Execute SQL tasks preceeding a Data Flow Task. Precedence constraints (of Evaluation operation 'constraint') require both Exec SQL Tasks to have completed successfully, before the data flow task can be entered. Each Exec SQL Task sets a user variable (~ 'Result Set'), and a 3rd user variable, which is evaluated as an expression, is a function of the 1st 2. Does the expression get re-evaluated automatically+immediately, every time one or both of its dependent variables' values changes? Thus does SSIS GUARANTEE that the 3rd variable will be re-evaluated BEFORE the data flow is entered into? Is this failing to happen (approx. every 1000 runs) because of 'a', 'b' or 'c'?
(I can guarantee that the evaluated variable is not dependent on anything else, and thus there is no race condition which would influence its value at any point in time).
We installed the SQL Server 2012 GUI tools, including "Upgrade Advisor," on a new virtual machine. We can connect to the old SQL Server 2008 R2 clustered databases just fine over port 1433 using SQL Server Management Studio 2012, but Upgrade Advisor is a mixed bag. Here are the steps we are taking:
- Click on "Start," "All Programs," "Microsoft SQL Server 2012," "SQL Server 2012 Upgrade Advisor"
- Fill in the server name with a valid SQL Server Network Name
- Select "SQL Server" as the only component to be analyzed
- Fill in the instance name with a valid named instance
- Use Windows Authentication (the default)
- The "SQL Server Parameters" window displays valid database names, meaning that we have a successful connection to the desired SQL Server instance at this point
- Leave all of the databased selected (the default)
- Click the "Run" button
- The "Upgrade Advisor Progress" window spins for a while and eventually generates the following error:
TITLE: mscorlib ------------------------------ The network path was not found. ------------------------------ BUTTONS: OK ------------------------------
Why would Upgrade Advisor be able to display the database names after making a successful connection only to fail later saying that it cannot find the network path?
This is a followup to a previous question to a previous but in reverse of Find rows where value in column not found in another row
Given one table, Table1, with columns Key1 (int), Key2 (int), and Type (varchar)...
I would like to exclude any two rows where Type is equal to 'TypeA' and Key2 is Null that have a corresponding row in the table where Type is equal to 'TypeB' and Key2 is equal to Key1 from another row.
I would like to return all the rows except where Key=1 and Key=3 because those rows together meet the criteria of Type='TypeA'/Key2=NULL and does have a corresponding row with Type='TypeB'/Key1=Key2.
I just moved to SQL 2005 and am facing a difficulty trying to build a DTS Package using SSIS Projects. I need to migrate data from an old Database design to a new Database design in my local pc.
Can anyone provide me some guidelines or tutorials on which components to use and a flow of the entire process which I should follow? I am confused.
Thanks alot in advance, hope to hear from you guys soon.
I am in a situation where we are redesigning our Datawarehouse. Currently we have our Datawarehouse in SQL 2000 and we are rebuilding from scratch in SQL 2005. This means that even though we will get the same tables but we are planning to rename each & every attribute to make it more meaningful.
The question is like this:
We can migrate the current DTS packages to SSIS but since all the ODBC connections , field names(attributes) will change is it worth it to leverages the DTS packages ?
Also we convert the julian date to gregorian date in our DTS packages but since SSIS has a feature to convert julian date it would be redundant to migrate the packages and my feeling is to create new packages in SSIS and start on a clean slate.
Its probably a little late for this kind of question but, I'm converting several DTS packages over to SSIS and in the conversion I have the ability to run tasks as 'Execute DTS 2000 Package'. My question is, should I use that or do a full re-write of the flows to use the SSIS tasks?
So far I've been removing anything pertaining to SQL 2000 and adding the SSIS tasks. Its becoming very time consuming this way due to some of the DTS packages have a lot of tasks/flows. Is it the best way to do this or should I just use the DTS migration Wizard and then leave the .dtsx files alone once they're created from the wizard?
I am in the process of moving my ssis package development to a new machine. I have zipped up all of my development/solution files and put them on the new machine...put them in place...but when I try to test them within Visual Studio I am getting a build error that says
Error 3 Cannot create the output file "C:Documents and SettingsmandolinMy DocumentsVisual Studio 2005ProjectsTransfer and Load Enrollment DataTransfer and Load Enrollment DatainCUP Enrollment Data Pickup.dtsx": The device is not ready. . 0 0
Additionally, but related, I can only open some projects within the solution. I am getting the following error when I try to open "some" of the packages within the solution:
The Device is not ready. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070015)
Can someone offer some advice on just what is happening here? I would really appreciate any thoughts or advice.
I am currently working for the Sybase to Sql Server migration project and have been able to test migrate few tables using SSIS. After migration, i was doing some data comparision and could see the date formats are different between Sybase and Sql server. However, there are no issues with data like day in sybase becoming month in Sql server except the formats are different.
Do I need to act on this date formats? Not sure if this would cause any issues in front end application that will consume sql server date data.
we want to completely do away with access, on my report tool, which is crystal report, we want query to be our data source so , we do not want to use ssis packageor import from access to sql, how can l handle bringing all table and the query from Access together.
Given one table, Table1, with columns Key1 (int), Key2 (int), and Type (varchar)...
I would like to get the rows where Type is equal to 'TypeA' and Key2 is Null that do NOT have a corresponding row in the table where Type is equal to 'TypeB' and Key2 is equal to Key1 from another row
I would like to return only the row where Key1 = 4 because that row meets the criteria of Type='TypeA'/Key2=NULL and does not have a corresponding row with Type='TypeB'/Key1=Key2 from another row.
I have tried this and it doesn't work...
SELECT t1.Key1, t1.Key2, t1.Type FROM Table1 t1 WHERE t1.Key2 IS NULL AND t1.Type LIKE 'TypeA' AND t1.Key1 NOT IN (SELECT Key1 FROM Table1 t2 WHERE t1.Key1 = t2.Key2 AND t1.Key1 <> t2.Key1 AND t2.Type LIKE 'TypeB')
I am getting following errors in my Cluster Validation report when trying to create a Windows Cluster.
I have 2 nodes DB01 and DB02 . Each has 1 public ip, 1 private ip (for heartbeat), 2 private ips for SAN1 and SAN2. The private ip's to SAN are directly connected via Network Adaptor in DB01 and DB02.
