SQL 6.5-NT4 SP3 & 2.x ODBC "not Associated As Trusted..."

May 31, 1999

Big S**t little town.

I operate the above environment and have been advised due to application issues to upgrade my ODBC to 3.6 from 2.x

I upgraded one of my clients and am unable to use the already successfully configured and operational Integrated Security, It will only operate with Standard security.

However the other clients with ODBC 2.x are still able to use Integrated Security.

The configuration of both ODBC's in so far as is possible (different screens and entries) is identical. I confirm the after the 3.6 ODBC is installed the end summary screen confirms a Trusted configuration. However the test connection utility fails with the well and guaranteed to give a hernia "not associated with a trusted SQL connection".

With anticipation and thanks.

Peter Dear

PS Why when I do a spell check on ODBC's, does it return "Oddballs"?

When i open SSIS 2014 and tried to create the odbc connection but i can able to see only the 32 bit system DSN connection ,i can't able to see my 64 bit odbc system dsn connection.

How Can I Use Create Or Alter Statements With ODBC And Microsoft Access ODBC Driver (*mdb)?

May 13, 2007

Hi,

I am using VB.NET 2005 and set up an ODBC connection via ODBC.ODBCConnection to a MDB database. Therefor, I use the "Microsoft Access ODBC Driver (*.mdb)".

When I set up a ODBCCommand like "ALTER DATABASE..." or "CREATE TABLE..." and issue it with the com.ExecuteNonQuery() command, I get an error from ODBC driver, that a SQL statement has to begin with SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE or DELETE.

How can I use DDL statements via ODBC?

I would appreciate if you could help me to use ODBC for that - no OLE, no ADO.

Thanks for help!

Regards,

Stefan D.

Can't Find SQL Native Client In ODBC Connection Manager In SQL Server Open Database Connectivity (ODBC)

Feb 13, 2007

I apologize if this is not the correct forum for this posting. Looking at the descriptions, it appeared to be the best choice.

I am running Windows XP Pro SP2. I have installed the SQL Native Client for
XP. However, when I try to add a new data source through ODBC Connection
Manager, SQL Native Client is not listed as an option. I have followed this procedure on three other systems with no problems. What would be causing the
SQL Native Client to not show up in the list of available ODBC data sources?

MS OLE DB For ODBC With Oracle ODBC Source Headaches

Dec 25, 2005

Hi all,I am having trouble getting linked Oracle 9 server in MS SQL Server2005 Express to work properly. My machine is running Windows XP.The Microsoft and Oracle OLE DB Providers have problems dealing withOracle's Numeric Data Type, so I decided to use Microsoft's OLE DB forODBC Provider and an Oracle ODBC source. When using the Microsoft ODBCfor Oracle Driver in my ODBC source I have inconsistent behavior.Sometimes my queries are processed properly, then other times I get thefollowing errorOLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "ODBCBEAST" returnedmessage "[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttrfailed".OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "ODBCBEAST" returnedmessage "[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttrfailed".OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "ODBCBEAST" returnedmessage "[Microsoft][ODBC driver for Oracle][Oracle]".Msg 7303, Level 16, State 1, Line 1Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "MSDASQL"for linked server "ODBCBEAST".I have no idea why sometimes I can connect to the linked server with noproblems andwhy other times it performs like this. I'm not changing anything aboutthe system I can think of. When I use an Oracle client (PL/SQL) I haveabsolutely no problems connecting. TNSPING returns that the connectionis good.This is unacceptable so I decided to try my luck with the Oracle 10gODBC driver. However when I use this and perform an openquery selectagainst the linked server I get back only 11 rows, when I know that thedatabase has over 100 rows (in fact when using the Microsoft ODBCdriver and it works that's what I get). I figured maybe the buffersetting needed to be raised in the ODBC configuration so I took it from64000 to 600000 (a magnitude of 10) but I still get back only 11 rows.I'm at my wit's end.Any suggestions on resolving one or the other problem would be muchappreciated.Thanks much

Oct 28, 2004

Hi,

Please help share with me if you know the version compatibility matrix of Ms SQL Server, ODBC driver (sqlsrv32.dll), Driver Manager (odbc32.dll) and ODBC API spec. For instance, how can I know Ms SQL Server 2000 can work with which version of sqlsrv32.dll, a particular version of sqlsrv32.dll can work with which version of odbc32.dll and a certain version of sqlsrv32.dll/odbc32.dll conforms to which version of ODBC API spec (e.g. 3.5).

Any help will be appreciated.

Hello,

I keep getting this error when I try to connect to my SQL Server:

I've tried to use both methods of logging into the DB (integrated security and using a SQL username and password).

Anyone have any idea on how to fix this?

Trusted Connections

I was just wondering about the old error:"user not associated with a trusted connection"I know how to solve it, but I dont really understand what im doing. If my connection string is like:Trusted_Connection=true;Initial Catalog=jobitdev;Data Source=192.168.109.4;Packet Size=4096;then how validation is done on the sql server side of things? If i specify the "Trusted_connection" property what does the server do to validate the user? I'm assuming that the user it checks is the current windows user?

Trusted Sql Connection

Jul 3, 2001

Hello,

I have just installed MSSQL 2000 on Windows 2000. what I am finding is that I cannot open an isql (or query analyzer) session using the sql login (i am successful when i use NT authentication). The error message I get is as follows

Msg 18452, Level 14, State 1:
Login failed for user 'xxx'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server
connection.
DB-Library: Login incorrect.

MSDN talks about setting the registry entries differently, but that seems to be only for SQL 7.

anybody have any hints about this.

Is there any way to connect to SQL Server from a non trusted domain. Passthrough authentication works for other NT Server resources (like exchange folder, printers, shared folders), but SQL Server 7.0 does not seem to accept this passthrough authentication (where the username and password are the same in both domains). There is no internet access required.

Set Up SQL Trusted Users

Mar 8, 2007

Can someone please help me set up a user for sql server.

Background - ZERO sql server experience - only used MS access a bit

I have a SQL database that was created automatically for me by ASP.NET membership - for use with the login function on web sites.

The login runs fine on my pc running sql server express

When I put it on my host (who is using SQL server 2000) it does not work & I have been told that I need to change the connection string to include Server (got that) userid and password.

And there is the problem - how do I add a user with a password to a sql server database on my pc which is then ftp'd out to my internet host so I can use that user ID and password in my connection string?

Now as I say I know nothing about sql - Please baby me if you can help ....

I am attemting to develop a link between a access and SQL2003 database on two different machines. Trusted Connection From VPN

Dec 15, 2007

Hello,

I have an application we use here at work that I wanted to bring home to work from my house. At work I can get the application to connect to the SQL Server without problems. At home I get:

Login failed for user '(null)'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.

I am connected to the office using a VPN connection. I have permissions to access the database (I am the server admin). It only happens when I connect thru VPN. I have tried it on 2 other systems here in the house to insure its not just my computer.

At the moment the application will only work with a trusted connection or Windows Authentication. It will not work with SQL authentication.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Connecting Using A Trusted Connection

Jun 29, 2006

Hello,
I appologize if this is in the wrong spot, but it seemed like the appropriate place.
We have IIS installed on one box and SQL on another. We use a trusted connection to connect.
When we try an connect to our DB, we don't get an error, the page just refreshes. From what i have gathered, it looks like we are not being authenticated. We have the ASPNET domain user on both boxes and its configured with the correct permissions, but we still can't connect.
Do i need to set up or give permissions to another account i dont know about, or is there some file that needs access?

Not Associated With A Trusted SQL Server Connection (Please Help)

Apr 2, 2008

Hello All,
I know this issue has been dealt with every where in the universe. but none seem to solve my problem. I need help desperatelyThe Web Application is a Classic ASP/Sql Server 2000 using two computers in the same physical network:Computer-A is the Sql Server2000 running Windows XP Professional.Inside Sql Server2000  i created a login, AA, as a dbowner of a database called XXX. Inside XXX, AA is right there as a user.
i configured the SqlServer to accept mixed (Windows and Sql) logins.I restarted the computer and i logged into sqlserver successfully as AA. Everything is fine here.

 Computer-B is the Web Server running IIS in Windows XP Professional.Here, I successfully created a System ODBC i named EEEE to connect to XXX using the AA login. Everything is fine up to this point.But, to my greatest surprise when i use - conn.Open("DSN=EEEE;UID=AA;PWD=AApassword;") in a classic ASP page, it returns this very famous error.

What did i do wrong? Please help

Trusted Connection Problems

May 30, 2004

Hello everyone,

I am trying to use a trusted connect to connect to a DB. Currently I use this code:

WindowsPrincipal wp = (WindowsPrincipal)HttpContext.Current.User;
WindowsIdentity id = (WindowsIdentity)wp.Identity;

// impersonate user to connect to DB
WindowsImpersonationContext impersonatedUser = id.Impersonate();
try
{
connection = new SqlConnection("Integrated Security=SSPI;Persist Security Info=False;Initial Catalog=DBname;Data Source=server;Packet Size=4096;");
dataAdapter = new SqlDataAdapter("select query");
data = new DataSet();
connection.Open();
dataAdapter.Fill(data);
connection.Close();
}
finally
{
// restore our old security context
impersonatedUser.Undo();
}

I am testing the app with my user which has full access to the server and database I am trying to connect to. But I always get this error:

Login failed for user '(null)'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.

Now I'm new to this and not sure if I am going about it correctly, so any help would be appreciated. I just want it to use the ID of the person viewing the page to login to the server.

Thanks,

Luke
