Hi,
I have an c# windows service, which is running on the same machine where my mssql server is installed. This service must be informed for each insert/update/delete event on one specific table.
My idea was to create an CLR Trigger for this table which can communicate with this service via .NET remoting. But the problem is, that the system.runtime.remoting assembly is not integrated within the mssql clr enviroment => i can't use remoting.
Are there any other idea's how can i solve this?

Error message: Setup failed to configure the server
I'm attempting to install SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition on a 2nd workstation in our area for development and practice with having this 2nd workstation as a "local" (test) SQL Server box. The install fails with the above mentioned message. (We have a database running in production on SQL Server 2000 and we need a place to simply copy the database and run tests on it)
The target PC is running WInXP Pro-SP3 and has IIS installed, along with Visual Studio 2005 & .Net framework, etc.
I downloaded it (via MSDN license) and accepted the defaults on the install.
Any feedback is appreciated.

I installed Micrsoft Server Desktop Engine from the CD I received in
my ASP.net book. The installation went fine and then I went to the DOS
prompt and did the "setup SAPWD..." and it ran. I restarted my computer and
opened ASP Matrix and went to the Data tab and proceed to connect to
the server. It gave me an error message it couldn't connect.
So I
uninstalled MSDE and made sure the sql2ksp3 folder was gone. So I went
ahead and installed the MSDE again from the CD again and then went to
DOS
to do the setup. It ran through the setup until the very end with 11
seconds remaining and received error message " Setup failed to
configure the server. Refer to the server error logs and setup logs for
more information. I have tried it several times and it always
stops around 11 seconds. I have tried to install the download from
microsoft.com
instead the CD and that didn't work also. So at this point I
am stuck. PLEASE HELP!
I also checked my Registry keys for a file called PendingFileRenameOperations and it wasn't in the registry keys.
If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.

For example When an important record is inserted or updated, a message appears on Application user's screen.

We just have Reporting Services server (2005) up and running, my roles are browser, Content Manager, My Reports, Publisher, Report Builder. I was able to deployed the report and set up data source. Connect using credentials supplied by suer running the report, and use as Windows credentails when connecting to the data source checked.
Did a search on but can't find any messages that related to this problem.

I have smilar kind of an issue with replication. I had sucessfully done replication with Sqlce2.0 on sql server 2000. In development machine I had VS 2003, sqlce development tools.
Now I use the same code done in VS 2003 into VS2005, it sucessfully converted the code.
In server machine (win 2003) I installed sql server 2000, sql server 2000 service pack 4, SP4 merge replication components, sql server 2005 mobile server tools and .Net framework 2.0. Created pubication sucessfuly. In this machine I configured IIS as per the web synchronization wizard. Gave anyonymous permissions. Virual direcory is created sucessfully. I tested the server agent in IE http://myservername/aliasname/sqlcesa30.dll.
SQL Server Mobile Server Agent 3.0 is shown
My application opened successfuly in windows mobile 5.0 Pocket PC emulator. When try to sync its dislays error "A request to send data to the computer running IIS is failed, see Hrresult"
No firewall in both development and server machines.

I can't seem to fix the following error in my stored procedure.
Error Message: Conversion failed when converting the nvarchar value '1007-001' to data type int.
The line of code in my stored procedure that seems to be the problem is the following:
CASE WHEN [Order Details].[Job No] IS NULL THEN [Orders].[Order No] ELSE [Order Details].[Job No] END
Order No has a data type of INT and Job No has a data type NVARCHAR(8). In the above case statement i'm not trying to convert anything but just display a column depending on the out come of the case statement. If anyone knows how to get around this error you help would be very welcome.

I'm trying to figure out how the SQL Agent sends email through jobs using the notification option for operators. I have had little success using SQL mail so I want to use an alternate such as blat. I have not been able to find where the SQL jobs are actually sending the mail. Can someone help please. OI have checked the system stored procedures without suscess. I'm using SQL2000.

I am having a problem getting informational type messages to display for my end users.
I have a SQL2000 db with a Delfi front end. When I issue either the raiserror or print nothing is displayed inside the app. With raiserror I can get it to display if I make the severity higher than 10. The problem with this is that it stops the app from processing the transaction. This is ok in one case but not with just informational type stuff. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I can reproduce this error on two machines, both with 16GB. The error occurs when trying to run a series of tests that load a small amount of seed data into a database.Â
At first I thought that the problem might have been due to the CLR assembly being compiled against .NET 2.0. However, I've since change the assembly to compile against .NET 4.0 with no change in the results.

I understand that SQL Service Broker will RECEIVE messages in the same order of SEND, so long as the messages are on the same conversation.
I would like to accomplish queue-level ordering instead of (or in addition to) conversation-level ordering.
There is a significant business case for this level of ordering. Consider an order processing system which is specified to fulfill orders in the sequence they are received. The reason for the ordering is as follows. Suppose the process(es) that RECEIVEs from the queue is down for several hours and the messages back up in the queue. Various customers place orders throughout this period of time. If more orders are placed than there are quantity for an item, the customers who placed their orders earliest in the day ought to be the ones that receive the merchandise and the later orders should be placed on backorder.
Limited experimentation showed that SQL Server totally disregards the order in which the messages were sent (on different conversations to the same queue).
The potential solution to use the same conversation has some drawbacks:
1. Difficult to do error handling because of the way error handling works in conversations.
2. It is not possible to RECEIVE using multiple threads. (Yes, RECEIVEing on multiple threads also would reorder the messages, but the reorderings would be localized in time so this would be tolerable by a lot of applications. In other words, orders from 1:00 AM would not be mixed with orders from 9:00 AM.)
Can anyone see a good solution to this in the current version?
If there are no good solutions, it would be great if Microsoft considers adding a feature where you can declare an ordering requirement when you CREATE QUEUE. Even support for an "approximate" ordering (messages can rearrange +/- several seconds) would be helpful, but the current way which seems to totally randomize the message order is not good for certain kinds of significant applications.

I am stuck in this strange issue since the last two days. I have followed the tutorial to configure the 2 databases to send and receive messages which works. I added my own objects in the DB's also but when I try to send a message to the service I added I get a message:
"Dialog security is unavailable for this conversation because there is no security certificate bound to the database principal (Id: 1). Either create a certificate for the principal, or specify ENCRYPTION = OFF when beginning the conversation."
Security is setup in the same way for my objects as the security specified in the tutorial. The service binding on the initiator and target use the same account as specified in the tutorial. Please help.

I used onError event to send email in case ssis pckage fails
but it send multiple email with errordescription. for ex below are the errordescription of four diferent emails i received.

The PrimeOutput method on component "Flat File Source - Read from source file" (1) returned error code 0xC0202092. The component returned a failure code when the pipeline engine called PrimeOutput(). The meaning of the failure code is defined by the component, but the error is fatal and the pipeline stopped executing.
Can anyone suggest if we can combine all this error description and send this as one email.
Hello everybody,I was configuring a SqlDataSource control using SQL Authentication mode.I first added a database file (testdb.mdf) through Solution Explorer-Add New Items. Then through Database Explorer I created a table named "info"Then while configuring the SqlDataSource control I used the SQL Authentication mode and attached the "testdb.mdf" database file.Test Connection showed success. But when I hit the Ok button of the wizard it displayed the following error message:Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server. Only an integrated connection can generate a user instance.While configuring the SqlDataSource control I clicked "New Connection". Under Data Source section I tried both Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft SQL Server Database File. And in both the cases I attached a databese file(testdb.mdf). It's a basic transactional replication from ServerA to ServerB, where ServerA is also the distributor. Everything had been running fine on it until yesterday, when this error started popping up and no further transactions could be delivered.
After some quick googling I was able to determine that the distribution agent account needed write access to C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server100Com. According to the MSFT article it's because the distribution agent is running under a non-default profile. I didn't change this. However, what I did change around the time that these errors started occurring was the server's Replication Max Test Size setting. It would be far too coincidental for this to not be the cause, but what I don't understand is *why* that would have changed it.
how do I change this? It is definitely not preferable to create temp files in this directory in our environment.
