SQL Computer Manager Not Showing Up In The Program Group
Jun 2, 2006I don't see SQL computer manager on the program group on my computer. I see a subset of what the demo shows. Suggestions? Thanks.

Jul 23, 2005Hi there,Got a small tech support problem. We gave our manual writer an installerthat should install SQL Server (MSDE) and our software. Over the phone I'vemanaged to ascertain that SQL Server is installed (it is running as aservice, along with SQL Server Agent), but it does not show up in "ComputerManagement -> Services and Applications". I need to set the permissions forthis user (over the phone!) in order to get our test software to work andyet it does not show here. What am I doing wrong? A user was created with a limited privilege under the USERS group. Once this user loged in the Report Manager he is acting like an Admin and Content Manager, though he is not given even a browser role.
What do u think that this guy is acting like a Super User evenif he is restricted to a browser role on the Report Manager ????????????

I was wondering about a way so that only those databases are shown to a user who has access to them and NOT all databases when s/he expands "Databases" node in enterprise manager.
Since it is by design of enterprise manager therefore it is not possible to hide other databases in EM. Is there anyother tool/ wrapper available for the same functionality?
The need for this arises when one wants to access a database on a shared ISP server containing hundreds of databases and due to slowness of link, connection times out.

Rows In Table Not Showing Up In Enterprise Manager
Nov 20, 2000I have just installed SQL Server 7 on a server. Everything was installed fine without any errors. The only problem occurs when I use Enterprise Manager, I right click on a table in the Northwinds database to open table and return all rows. The form pops up and no rows appear. Nothing in the table form works. I can view the records from Query Analyzer, and can also view them through Enterprise Manager when using a workstation client. This problem only occurs at the server. Any thoughts.

SQLExpress Services Not Showing In Configuration Manager

When I open SQL server configuration manager / expand SQL server 2005 network configuration, I have a Protocols for SQLEXPRESS but under SQL server 2005 services branch, I cannot find a reference to my SQLEXPRESS database service. This causes a problem because, I cannot enable or disable SQLExpress.
I've tried to remove the SQLExpress instance by going to Add/Remove Programs but it doesn't work. After I restart the computer, the entry SQLEXPRESS: database service is still there.
I cannot reinstall SQLEXPRESS either because it saids instance name already exist.
When I try 'net start mssql$sqlexpress' it saids "the service name is invalid"
When I try 'sqlcmd -S <my server name here>SQLEXPRESS it saids

I'm pulling my hair out because according to the error message above, I should use surface area configuration tool to enable remote connections but I can't even see the SQLEXPRESS entry inside the tool!!!

How do I programmatically check a row group's Visibility or Expand/Collapse flag in a matrix table? For example, I have a matrix table contains the following groups:
Row groups: Facility --> Category Type --> Category
Column groups --> year, quarter, month
I want to be able to programmatically update the table content if Category rows are not visible (Category Type row group is collapsed).

May 12, 2008I'm trying to show the max date from a field by group. I've tried Max(OrderedDate) but it still shows me all the dates from the group field I only want to see the last date. I'm using report builder FE, which I can't modify the BE. Any ideas I can get this to work?

Aug 23, 1999Has anyone had a problem with Enterprise Manager, running on NT4/SP4 desktop, not showing/reporting the status of a specified SQL Server (6.5). I have a list of 10 that have been working fine (i.e. green lights shows up, drill down and see SQL Executive Green light, etc.). I now have 1 that does not report the status. It was working fine, but the only change that I remember was to create a new Scheduling login, which I did, and then I re-registered it to use a non-sa login to see what the look/feel would be. It looked like from that point onward, is where I lost the status capability. I have re-registered it as SA, but it seems to be stuck and won't give me back the green light. Yes, the server is up and I can drill down, but I don't even see the SQL Executive service and green light. I'm sure there is some registry setting that needs to be kicked? Any Ideas?

I have spent the entire afternoon playing around with this and searching Google, but as yet, I have been unable to get the matrix to display more than 1 record per pallet. Each of the pallets below have multiple adjustment records, yet the report will only display the first one...
If I assign the dataset to a table, it displays as expected.
SQL 2012 :: AlwaysOn High Availability Group Showing All Databases
Apr 28, 2014I came across an issue while migrating from SQL 2005 to SQL 2012 and using AlwaysOn Group. For some strange reason, when ever i connect to the Listener name for each AlwaysOn group, it list all the databases which is on the SQL instance, so i would be able to see databases that is not part of that Availability Group. I am not using default port, so have to put the port after the Name to connect and both Instance and Listener are using different port.
Testing the fail over works fine too, when i perform a manual failover, i can connect to any of the databases in the group from my application with no problem.
Considering that the Listener Port is different to the port which the instance is using?

Report Builder Icon Is Not Showing Up On The Report Manager Home Page

I added a new windows user "ReportUser" which is a local user (not in administrator group). When I connect to the report manage's web page, I use reportuser to log in (when the anonymous access is disabled it will ask a log in). Report builder icon is not showing up on the report manager home page.
If I log in as a user in administrator group, the reportr builder icon shows up so I can download it and build report.
I have assigned reportuser "Content manager" and "repoter builder" access to the home folder. Is there anything else I have to do to make the report build icon show up on the home page?

We need to edit the TCP/IP and Named Pipes to enable them. I've created a SSIS Solution and have created Data Sources. I have two packages. One was created before the Data Sources, and one was created after. The package that was created after is using connections from the Data Sources. I want to change the package before the Data Soruces were created to use them, but when I right click in the Connection Managers pane "New Connection From Data Source.." is not an option.
Did I not add it to the Solution properly?
How do I get it to show?
Did I not refresh something?
Please provide the how if you figure it out.

I have a big problem with Reporting Services 2005 working on Windows 2003 Server.
RS work as Network service, on subdomain reporting.mydomain with SSL wildcard certificate *.mydomain,
Anonymous access: disabled and basic authentication: enabled
ReportManager and reportServer has defualt virtual folders (/reporting, /reportserver)
My problem is:
1) I can't manage security roles and site settings with report maanger. when I try assign roles to new user or group I get followng error:
"The user or group name 'BUILTINAdministrators' is not recognized. (rsUnknownUserName) Get Online Help"
when i try to execute reports in report manager, parameters controls are not displayed correctly (very simple text boxes) and I can see:
The selected report is not ready for viewing. The report is still being rendered or a report snapshot is not available. (rsReportNotReady)
and I can't see my report in browser (IE 6.0) but only export to PDF, Excel...
other functionality are working fine i.e upload new files, creatign folders....
2) Also my reportserver virtual folder does not work correctly.
When I navigate to mydomain/reportserver I can see content of this virtual folder, than when I navigate to ReportService.soap i can see normal ReportServer view

Sep 29, 2015I have an SSRS 2012 table report with groups; each group is broken ie. one group for one page, and there are multiple groups in multiple pages.
'GroupName' column has multiple values - X,Y,Z,......
I need to group 'GroupName' with X,Y,Z,..... ie value X in page 1,value Y in page 2, value Z in page 3...
Now, I need to display another column (ABC) in this table report (outside the group column 'GroupName'); this outside column itself is another column header (not a group header) in the table (report) and it derives its name partly from the 'GroupName' values:
Example:
Value X for GroupName in page 1 will mean, in page 1, column Name of ABC column must be ABC-X Value Y for GroupName in page 2 will mean, in page 2, column Name of ABC column must be ABC-Y Value Z for GroupName in page 3 will mean, in page 3, column Name of
ABC column must be ABC-Z
ie the column name of ABC (Clm ABC) must be dynamic as per the GroupName values (X,Y,Z....)
Page1:

Page2:

I have been able to use First(ReportItems!GroupName.Value) in the Page Header to get GroupNames displayed in each page; I get X in page 1, Y in page 2, Z in page 3.....
However, when I use ReportItems (that refers to a group name) in the Report Body outside the group,
I get the following error:
Report item expressions can only refer to other report items within the same grouping scope or a containing grouping scope
I need to get the X, Y, Z ... in each page for the column ABC.
I have been able to use this - First(Fields!GroupName.Value); however, I get ABC-X, ABC-X, ABC-X in each of the pages for the ABC column, instead of ABC-X in page 1, ABC-Y in page 2, ABC-Z in page 3, ...
Problems Running Enterprise Manager And Service Manager
Jul 20, 2005On one of our machines, all of the SQL Server 2000components except for the main Server component (SQL Servercore) itself were installed (Management tools, etc) a while agoand everything was running fine. Now I go and add/install theServer component and then Service Pack 3a.It seems that Service Manager won't start up (I get an hourglass cursor)and now I find that Enterprise Manager won't run as well. No errormessages appeared and I don't think I saw anything unusual inthe log file.However, I can use Enterprise Manager on a differentmachine and connect to the database (so the databaseitself seems to be running).Any suggestions as to what the problem might be and how tofix it? I like to see if I can repair this without havingto do a reinstall.Thanks.PF

Provide Individual Page Numbering per Group and Total Pages per Group
Currently in a Reporting Services report, you can't readily reset the page number for each group in a table, nor can you display the total number of pages per group. For example, if I'm printing invoices and each invoice is a separate group, I'd like to be able to print "Page 1 of 5" , "Page 2 of 5" etc. for the first invoice, then "Page 1 of 3" when the next invoice begins, and so on. This was easy in Crystal Reports. I realize that Crystal Reports has a two-pass process that enables that kind of pagination. However, this is REALLY important functionality that's just missing from Reporting Services and I'm hoping you'll provide it REALLY SOON! Yeah, I know there are work-arounds if you can know exactly how many rows of information there are on each page. But gosh! That's not practical, especially if you have second level groups inside the main group or text blocks in rows that can 'grow' to more than one line. I've read a couple of work-arounds, but none of them works correctly and consistently when more than one user is running the same report or when you print the report while you're looking at it on the screen. I still may need access to the overall report page number and the overall total number of pages, so don't get rid of that. It's just that if you're doing this already for the entire report, I don't see why you can't do it per group! Lots of people have been asking for this for years, and I don't understand why it hasn't been implemented.
I've read a few articles on this topic, but no one has come up with a decent work around. My theory is that Microsoft should be addressing this immediately. This is major functionality that's just plain missing from SSRS and should have been there from the start. If anyone from Microsoft can let us know what's going on with this issue or if anyone would like for me to clarify this further, feel free to let me know.

Nov 6, 2015I have an SSRS report with groups that when exported to excel contains drill-in's (plus marks on left side). The issue I have is that for all the groups in the drill-in, those cells become merged. I want to keep the group drill-in but have the cells UNMERGED. I have heard this can be done with the RDL XML but I don't know what to modify to accomplish this.
