Need to access a secure website which displays a list of available files for download.
Firstly need to read that page to determine the most recent file.
There is a view link to the file which uses java script to post back information for file download.
Any ideas please ?

Let me start off by saying I'm not a SQL expert and have very limited knowledge on the topic.Here is my question:Our organization has an archiving solution that stores data in a SQL database. This applicaton creates two SQL accounts. One that is used to archive to the database. The second to browse the database from a search interface provided by the application. With all the federal compliance issues I see that they require the data to be stored in "a non-rewriteable and non-erasable format". My question is. How can I prevent the database from being erased in the SQL database? As 'Administrator' I can open Enterprise Manager and open a table in the database and simply delete any record that I wish. I understand that might have this ability because I'm logged on as Administrator. How do I prevent access to this database and prevent access modify the records. I believe the only two accounts that should have access to the database are the Archive and Browse accounts required by the application.

View 4 Replies View RelatedOk, I need to give some details. I have a secure Access Database using WorkGroup Security logon. It is an Access 97 database (yes I know it is "old").
I tried to create a DTS package in SQL Server 2000 to connect to it, but I am getting the same error that I got before I "joined" the workgroup when attempting to access the DB. So I changed the Service logon identites to mimic <me> as the logon, and still I can't get it to connect. The user name and password I put in the connection are correct.
It seems like nothing is working and I am all out of ideas. Does anyone have any recommendations? Has anyone done anything like this successfully?
PS: I can manually logon to the database, and extract the data 1 table at a time, but I don't want to export 40 tables each time I have to load this data. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'm writing a C# application which connects to a local SQL database for data access. The application connects to SQL Server through windows authentication, but opens up the port and sqlbrowser to others on the network wanting to access the database through SQL Server authentication, and also allows remote users to connect to this server remotely if they have the login and password (and because the port is already open)
I understand this is not secure and open to attack, and am unsure of how to secure these processes without blocking these three types of access, from A.) the local user, B.) the network user and C.) the remote user across the net.
Have researched this a fair bit, but get somewhat lost amongst all the jargon.

If a user is a local admin of the box they can gain full access to the database via integrated security. They can create their own database and attach .MDF
How can i secure the .MDF so that no one can gain access to it?

I got a problem using an OLE-DB Source in my data flow task. It is an Informix-Server using the newest OLE DB-Driver provided by IBM. However, when I set up the OLE DB-Source with connection manager and SQl-Query, I get the following warning message:
Warning at {2B334CA3-A792-4BC2-93AA-12FADCF1E696} [OLE DB Source [45]]: Cannot retrieve the column code page info from the OLE DB provider. If the component supports the "DefaultCodePage" property, the code page from that property will be used. Change the value of the property if the current string code page values are incorrect. If the component does not support the property, the code page from the component's locale ID will be used.
Later when I try to execute the package, the destination adapter gets errors like
Error 3 Validation error. Data Flow Task: OLE DB Destination [2985]: Columns "antrag" and "Antrag" cannot convert between unicode and non-unicode string data types. Informix_OLEDB.dtsx 0 0
I guess that SQL Server cannot get the data types from the Source.

I am running a DBCC SHRINKFILE on "FILE1" of a database (it has fileid = 1)...intent is to remove 70GB of file space:
DBCC SHRINKFILE (N'FILE1' , 400000).
For the SPID that's doing the shrink, In activity monitor you can see:
Waittype: PAGEIOLATCH_EX on resource: 9:3:15411328
(the DB is dbid=9)
But why does it need a page from fileid=3? Are there page dependencies between files that prevent moving a page within a given file? Does it need that fileid3 page to come along?
Its just sitting there in the SUSPENDED state for the last hour....I am going to leave it another 5 hours or so before cancelling.
The dm_exec_requests has an estimated percent complete at 83% and holding....not sure if I can believe that.

I have inherited a databse and am building a new website to go wiht it.
There is a file upload page which will upload images to a directory. I need to insert into the database retrieve the id just added then upload the image renaming it in the format locID(QueryString)_ImageID(retrieved from database).jpg
The page has a file upload control and a button.
I am trying to write my code behind so that when the button is clicked it inserts location id into the images table retrieves Image id. Renames the file and uploads it to the images folder.
II think i need to call the routine from another routine for the button click but the signatures are different, where am i going wrong? or for that matter have i been pissing into the wind for the last 4 hours?

I'm trying to re-write my database to de-couple the interface (MS Access) from the SQL Backend. As a result, I'm going to write a number of Stored Procedures to replace the MS Access code. My first attempt worked on a small sample, however, trying to move this on to a real table hasn't worked (I've amended the SP and code to try and get it to work on 2 fields, rather than the full 20 plus).It works in SQL Management console (supply a Client ID, it returns all the client details), but does not return anything (recordset closed) when trying to access via VBA code.The Stored procedure is:-

Hi, does anyone know how to retrieve mistmatched records across 2 tables.
To clarify, I have table A with 1175 records and Table B with 894 records.
The records from table A match exactly some the records in table B.
I want to create another table with the extra 281 records from Table A which does not match that of Table B.
I have tried the query with Select where fields_1.a<>fields_2.b AND fields_2.a<>fields_2.b etc
but that doesn't seem to work.

FechaC, FechaCob, are the two Dates I want to retrieve, but when I debug, it reads a 0 (zero) from the date fields, is there a limitation? can they be read? is there a special way to read them?

I'm inserting records into an Access database using ADO. One of the fields is defined as a hyperlink. I figured out the #displayname#path#subpath# formatting, but at issue is how to describe a relative path (to a filename) - I'd like to programmatically retrieve the database property 'HyperlinkBase' so I can properly specify the relative path. Is there some provider-specific schema that I can use to get this info for the Access file the Connection object references? I find example code for getting hyperlink base and other builtin document properties for Word, PowerPoint, Visio, but can't seem to find this for Access.

I create a function called UpdatePasswordByUserId in my dataset with the above stored procedure that returns a scalar value. When I preview the data from the table adapter in my dataset, it spits out the right value.
But when I call this UpdatepasswordByUserId from an asp.net page, it returns null/blank/0

I have been trying to store binary file in a folder from the SQL Server.
Here is the code I am using to do this but, it is not working. It doesn't show any error only shows 1 row(s) affected. The folder remains empty after running this query.
