I am in the process of training a Neural Networks, which could take significant iterations in the process of getting trained. While using other tools like I can visually see the convergence (in terms of error for the model). Is there a way to see any progress while training while using Analysis Server - Neural Network training? It would be useful to see the accuracy, interation number and timeout while in the process of training etc...

I'm working on SQL Server 2005 & Reporting services to create a Projet model to deploy it on the server.
To explain me, i 'll recreate simply my problem on the the database "AdventureWorksDW".
I woudl like to see information on my product dimension.
In a matrix tab, i put "Product name" in row value and "customer name" on column.
I would naturally know the "Sales Amount" for my product by customers.
But, as i had not create aggregate, i can't put my numerique value on the cells indicators. It just allowed me to put the SUM(SALES_AMOUNT) by exemple, but it's not what i want.
How can i put my numerique value in this case ?

Populate Indicator To Be Displayed By Using Timestamp

Id task_id tsk_complete_ts task_due_date Id_end_ts tsk_indicator id_indicator
50 2001 01-01-2015 02-01-2015 10-01-2015 GREEN

I need to calculate the indicator for the whole id considering all the tasks by using the below conditions,
1) if tsk_complete_ts > id_end_ts, display id_indicator as RED
2) if any task is in RED or AMBER and id got completed before id_end_ts, the display id_indicator as AMBER
3) Else GREEN
I want the id_indicator to be populate dynamically in view without using stored procedure, id_indicator should be common for whole id.
Task indicator also getting populated in the view using the case statement.

I hope you can help as I am really scratching my head on this one. I am pulling together an assessment of the Disaster Recovery readiness for an organisation I am working at. Part of the assessment I am doing is the recovery model of each of the databases.
I have scripts that are already pulling lots of data from 40+ servers and 500+ databases. However, I cannot seem to find anywhere within the MASTER or MSDB or the database itself where the Recovery Model flag is held. Obviously I can right click on the database and click properties and it is there, but I need to automate this task (as it will probably be a weekly assessment).
I have checked sysdatabases and almost every other table, but nothing obvious as to where this flag is.
Any ideas?

The context behind this is you given a script and its run on SQL and for some reason the tran is not committed. or rolled back.

The progress bar just sits there with no movement. I have even left it running overnight and nothing the next day
I am able to backup all other databases (master, msdb, model).

SQL Communicating With Progress
May 15, 2008Our ERP uses a Progress db but several of our web apps are developed in vb.Net and use a SQL backend. I need to pull some data in from Progress using TSQL queries.
Experimenting a little I find that a simple query, i.e. from 1 Progress table, takes anywhere from 20 seconds to a couple of minutes. However, when I joined on a 2nd table, I had to cancel the query after it ran for over 10 minutes.
SQL server is connected to Progress via a Linked server.
Any advice on improving the query will be appreciated.
I believe the query has to be in the T-SQL syntax; is that right? Where does the translation into Progress syntax occur?

Where In The Restore Progress Am I?
May 30, 2008Hello, we started a restore of a database that is just over 1.2 TB. It took 23 hours to complete the Copy Data Phase. Now, SQL Server continues to show the database in a Restoring state, however, there is no other indication of what SQL Server is doing. We do not have any way to see in which phase of the restore process SQL Server is in or how much time may be remaining. We do know that SQL Server is doing something because of the I/O activity. Its there a command, script, or other tool that we can use to determine where in the Restore process we are and how much time may be remaining? We did not use the WITH STATS = switch so that is out, and the sys.dm_exec_requests shows Percent_Complete is 100, however, we know that its not done, the Data Copy Phase has completed but the Severe is still churning.

similarly, is there a way to watch what executes to see what actually runs during a merge join transform, iow, something that exposes ssis to trace? how do i find it?

Sep 2, 2006The ETL processing for my project will be deployed as part of a larger application which is operated by non-technical users. Therefore I want to provide real-time feedback to the user on progress, errors, etc., using windows standard GUI interface objects and style- for example a progress bar. The "designer" of course does some of this but there won't be any designer in our deployed application (and SSIS designer is neither intended to be used by, nor appropriate for, non-technical users anyway).
Now that I have the ETL logic working, it's time to tackle this UI requirement. I am thinking one way to do this is to start a script task to run in parallel with the main ETL processing, open a winform in that task that has various GUI objects whose "state" is based on package scoped variables, update the package level variables via the "on progress" event (or other events as needed) of various SSIS tasks and components, and refresh the winform's display regularly via a timer event.
Does this approach seem like it would be effective? Has anyone tried maintaining an open winform via a script task and updating it's objects via package variables in parrallel with the package is running other tasks?

I have a pacakage wich loads data from a .csv file into my database. When I run the package from Visual Studio there is a Progress/Execution Results tab where I see information about the progress. I would like to insert some of these messages into my database. I tried to handle the OnProgress event with an Execute SQL Task and insert the Progress descriptions, but that doesn't seem to give all the information I see on the above mentioned tab (moreover, I get different numbers of events running the package from VS and running it programmatically from c#, why is that?).
What I really would like to get are the messages from the Progress tab which look like these:
[Agreement File [11773]] Information: The processing of file "D:****files*********.csv" has started.
[Agreement File [11773]] Information: The total number of data rows processed for file "D:****files*********.csv" is 201.
[Agreement File [11773]] Information: The processing of file "D:****files*********.csv" has ended.
[DTS.Pipeline] Information: "component "OLE DB Destination" (12598)" wrote 200 rows.
Any help would be appreciated.
Progress For Dbcc Shrinkfile?

Hi!
I have filegroup that has to few files.
I added new files (corresponding to number of cores).
Now I'm trying to move data to these new files:
dbcc shrinkfile ('oldfile', EMPTYFILE)
But now there are gone nearly one day and dbcc is not finished yet.
It is stressing not to see some progress.
Is it possible to see in some sys table how much data are moved?
Alternative suggestions?

I have just finished building an SSIS package which does a couple of things including using variables, calling child packages as well as starting off replication.
I plan to kick-off the package via SQL Server Agent.
Is there any way I can monitor the progress of this report by creating a web front-end that refreshes every few minutes to report on errors and progress?

Limiting Content Of Progress Tab
Jul 4, 2007Is there any way to limit the content that is placed into the Progress Tab during execution of a package in debug mode?
My problem is that I have a complex package that puts lots of info in there. This package is called in a loop from another package. Each time the package is called, the new info is added to the existing info in the Progress Tab. Eventually the instance of Dev Studio hangs when it gets too much content in that screen.
The only solution would be if I can limit the output content of that screen or turn it off.
All suggestions appreciated.
