I'm facing several problems that I tryied to short out by msdn but could not get solution
I'm using visual studio .NET 2005 Beta(WHIDBEY),and
problem: sql server2005 Express edition is not running on My stand alone machine(AMD Athlon Xp 2000+,512 MB DDR Ram,CPU Clock speed 1.67 GHz)
Whenever I try to connect to SqlExpress using the server explorer in the VisualStudio.NET 2005 using follwing option in connection properties Dialog Box :
1.server name: the name of my computer(I'm using the Default Instance of SQLEXPRESS 2005) 2.Enter Information to log on to the server:usewindowsNt Integrated Security3.when I go to select the inuilt data base like masters it gives following Error message:-
"Shared memory provider:Specifed Module could not be Found"
I've installed Visual Basic 2005 express edition & tried to connect to SQL Server 2005 express edition. I noticed that VB2005 Express Edition doesn't have any OLEDB provider for SQL Server. The only OLEDB Provider is for M.Access. Is this correct? if so, what should i do if i want to connect SQL Server 2005 express edition with VB2005 express edition by using OLEDB connection type?

I got a problem in my development phase. I'm developing a web-application system that running merge database technology which is centralized database and distributed database. This is because my customer want a highly optimum system standby.
My centralized database running SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition and the distributed database running SQL Server 2005 Express Edition (because it is free). Each of these database, the users can change the data on its database. So, every database must have the same data. from my understanding, each server must act as Publisher and Subscriber. Can SQL Server 2005 Express Edition be a Publisher?
If not, what the solution you all may suggest, because cost is the first factor. If my architecture is not correct, so what you all suggest to me to resolve the problem.

Scenario: (1) Initiator/Target are running on different machines; (2) Target is on SQL Standard Edition with service pack 1; (3) Initiator ends the conversation.
If Initiator is running on SQL Express Edition with service pack 1 or 2, €œSend message€? and €œEnd conversion€? will introduce two messages in initiator€™s sys.transmission_queue. One is empty message with correct message type; the other is empty message with no message type. Both of them are from the Target to the Initiator.
If Initiator is running on SQL Standard Edition with service pack 1, with same stored procedure (attached below), there is no message left in initiator€™s sys.transmission_queue.
We like to find the way to make Initiator on SQL Express Edition acting same as it on SQL Standard Edition, namely not left messages in the initiator€™s sys.transmission_queue

I have been unable to create a replication from an SQL Server 2005 standard edition database to remote SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. The remote express edition is on a Virtual Private Server we are leasing from a hosting company. The name of the remote DB is similar to vs572.si-vs572.com. I can connect to this with SQL server authentication through Management Studio and also with SSIS. But, I have been unable to create a push subscription (I have tried a test push subscription with the same publication to a local SQL Express server here in our office and this works fine).
Here is the error message: SQL Server Replication requires the actual server name to make a connection to the server. Connections through server alias, IP address, or any other alternate name are not supported. Specify the actual server name, 'VS572SQLEXPRESS'.
The hosting company had originally installed a shared SQL server which would not support replication. They then installed SQL Express edition and I was hoping this would allow us to run a replication.
I tried to connect to VS572SQLEXPRESS with out any luck. I check the remote connections, made sure replication was installed, etc., but no luck.
I have uninstalled the SQL Server Express Edition that I have installed from the CDs that were given to me during a Chicago Conference when READY TO LAUNCH Visual Studio 2005, SQL SERVER 2005, and Biz Talk 2005. Then I went to microsoft website: http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/sql/register/default.aspx and downloaded and installed the so called Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition and I got the messages Error that you read below. Then I Uninstalled Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition and went again to msdn website and downloaded Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Advanced Services SP1 and installed it. I got again the same message as below.
MESSAGE:
1. First comes a window with the title: €œsetup.exe €“ Unable to Locate Component€? And it displays a message: This application has failed to start because MSTDCPRX.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. 2. After I click the OK button of this window it comes another window with the title: €œMicrosoft SQL Server 2005 Server Setup€? And it displays a message: Failed to load SqlSpars.dll
Does anybody can tell what is going on with the 3 times I tried to installed different SQL Server 2005 Express Edition and I get the same message?????

I installed SQL 2005 express edition in my pc (Pro XP), then I can login from SQL 2005 Managerment Studio Express. After a few days later, I can't do it and an error message as belows:

I try to reinstall the studio express but still not working.

I am currently downloading the mega-sized files for SQL Server 2005 Express Edition and was wondering if I was going to be able to install it onto my workstation alongside the SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition? Was hoping someone could advise. I did browse for an answer, but have not come across it yet. I know I'll find out once my download is complete, but that could be awhile :)

I had SQL Server Express Edition installed. I then uninstalled both it and Visual C#. I then installed SQL Server 2005 Developer's Edition and reinstalled Visual C# -- both on the same machine. I can connect to SQL Server 2005 using SQL Server Management Studio. However, Visual C# is a different story. When I try to add a new Data Connection, it defaults the data source to .SQLEXPRESS, which is no longer on my machine. I can select .MSSQLSERVER, but when I click on either OK or Test Connection, I time out with an error message -- error 25 - Connection string is not valid. HI, My computer keeps trying to download SQL Server 2005 Express Edition SP2 and fails with the error code 0x2B22. It is a new computer running with Windows XP Pro.

Windows XP SP2 -- clean machine as of about a month ago, never had any dev tools, web servers, or the like on it.
IIS is installed and the service says its running
VSQL and VWD express versions installed (no errors on installation)
SQL server service indicates it is running
.Net 2.0 framework installed (no errors on installation)
Note: I've tried installing on two separate machines. Obviously I'm missing something fundamental.
Would someone please help me go through the million things I [apparently] need to do to configure all these tools so I can get on to actually coding up my first web application? If this is documented somewhere, all I can say is I tried to find it but it certainly wasn't obvious.

The enterprise edition of SQL server includes some advanced BI features, for example the fuzzy lookup feature of IS. If the IS package lives on an enterprise edition of SQL server and the database the package it is targeting lives on a standard edition of SQL server can the advanced features be used? Can you run a fuzzy look against a database on a standard edition of SQL server when th IS package lives on an enterprise edition of SQL server? THANKS!
Will the 2005 Express Edition support big websites or do I have to upgrade to another edition? The website I'm currently building is an advertise site, and lets say it will at some point be up to 1000-5000 visitors (or even more) online on the website, searching for ads or adding ads.Can the Express Edition handle this? Or should i use MySQL instead?

My dog ate my sql2000 installation disk! After a recent xp installation I remembered that. Now I'm in a hurry to get up and running with SQL again. I've installed SQL server 2005 express, but I can't attach any databases, or really do anything for that matter. I have a copy of SQL Server 2005 enterprise edition but that won't install on my development machine, Xp Sp2. Which way should I go, install SQL 2005 enterprise on a Win 2003 server or can I download something to administer the express version? As always thanks for any and all replies! /Eskil
Hello I am a newbie to this list and hope this gets posted. Sent one out yesterday which never saw the light of day! In my installation here, I have the security database ASPNETDB.mdb and to keep things independent and robust, I created another database MYDATADB.mdb. Now, I have a requirement to maintain a custom USERS table in MYDATADB. To meet this requirement, I tried creating an ON INSERT trigger on the ASPNET_USERS table. However, when I say 'INSERT INTO MYDATADB.dbo.USERS ......', within the trigger body, I get an error saying 'Invalid object'. It seems that MYDATADB is not visible from ASPNETDB. Could there be any other reason for this error? Are these two databases similar to separate servers? Do I have to create a server group or something -- or a data link of some sort?
