Does anyone know is MS Access has any limited no of users, or how many concurrent users MS Access has?

I need to know how many concurrent users are allowed to access the database at any point of time. Will it depend on the type of licence?Where do we set this parameter. Some users are complaining 'time out' problem. Thanks for any help!

There was a 5 concurrent user limitation in MSDE (the version prior to SQL Express). Does that same limitation exist with SQL Express 2005?
Thanks.
Hi
I need some rough figures for replication performance. Can anyone give an idea of the number of concurrent subscribers a single IIS server can safely handle before having to move to load balancing with multiple IIS servers.
I would estimate the average daily row changes to be in the region of 500 to 2500 per subscriber.
Any ideas?
Many thanks

Standard costs 2000 euros approx (5CALs)
Enterprise costs 40000 euros apprx
Standard only supports 2GB or RAM
How many concurrent users do you think standard edtion can handle in a Dual Xeon 2.8 with 2GB ram ?
Enterprise is very expensive. sucks that standard can't handle more than 2GB Ram
Does anyone know how to reserve a number of concurrent user licenses /per server logins in MSSQL 2000? I have a situation where I have more users than I have licenses for an enterprise SQL application and would like to make sure that a certain group of users always has access to the system. Individuals who only need inquiry access should only be allowed to login if there are licences available beyond the core group of users. Any Ideas? Thanks.

Hi,I have a web app, that runs fine, except for one particular section that uses a class called by an event in the code behind. The class resides as a dll in the bin folder. We had no problems during testing, when only one user was running this dll. Problems soon occurred when multiple users tried running it. Here's the error & stack: 06/02/2007 09:25:26 ==> cburns ==> There is already an open DataReader associated with this Command which must be closed first. at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnectionTds.ValidateConnectionForExecute(SqlCommand command) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.ValidateConnectionForExecute(String method, SqlCommand command) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.ValidateCommand(String method, Boolean async) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.RunExecuteReader(CommandBehavior cmdBehavior, RunBehavior runBehavior, Boolean returnStream, String method, DbAsyncResult result) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.RunExecuteReader(CommandBehavior cmdBehavior, RunBehavior runBehavior, Boolean returnStream, String method) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior behavior, String method) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.ExecuteReader() at ESP.Validator.Data.DatabaseEvents.DatabaseEventManager.Read(IEventable eventObject, Int16 eventType, DateTime earliestDate, DateTime latestDate) in C:My PathValidatorValidator.NETDataDatabaseEventsDatabaseEventManager.cs:line 92 at ESP.Validator.Data.Translink.CATCard.GetDespatchDate() in C:My PathProjectsValidatorValidator.NETDataTranslinkCATCard.cs:line 94 at ESP.Validator.Data.Translink.ExistingSchemeEntitlement.ReadCards() in C:My PathProjectsValidatorValidator.NETDataTranslinkExistingSchemeEntitlement.cs:line 215 at ESP.Validator.Data.Translink.ExistingSchemeEntitlement.Read() in C:My PathProjectsValidatorValidator.NETDataTranslinkExistingSchemeEntitlement.cs:line 147 at ESP.Validator.Data.Translink.TranslinkApplicant.ReadEntitlements() in C:My PathProjectsValidatorValidator.NETDataTranslinkTranslinkApplicant.cs:line 369 at ESP.Validator.Data.Translink.TranslinkApplicant.Read() in C:My PathProjectsValidatorValidator.NETDataTranslinkTranslinkApplicant.cs:line 353 at ESP.Validator.Data.Translink.PrePrintedLetter.Read() in C:My PathProjectsValidatorValidator.NETDataTranslinkPrePrintedLetter.cs:line 282 at ESP.Validator.ValidationProcessor.Read(ValidationSubject subject) in C:My PathProjectsValidatorValidator.NETValidationProcessor.cs:line 82 at clear_applications_scan_applications.ProcessValidation() It seems the data reader is getting reused. We have ensured after each read the reader is closed. Though all users are using the same connection string. Could it be a connection pool problem, with the connection being overwritten during execution? Should i edit it according to the users logon?I am really at a loss for ideas, and I don't mind admitting I am a bit out of my depth with this one!! Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am researching this and playing with using the syss.sysprocesses view and counting the dbid column. I would most likely want to store this information in a table with a date/time stamp because we really want to track our concurrent users during the day for awhile. Do you have any neat tricks in getting this done? Is there a DMV or Information_Schema view that could be used to accomplish this task? I found the following code on the internet:
SELECT DB_NAME(dbid) AS DBName,
COUNT(dbid) AS NumberOfConnections,
loginame AS LoginName,
nt_domain AS NT_Domain,
nt_username AS NT_UserName,
hostname AS HostName
FROM sys.sysprocesses

I want to map users/groups of a .NET application which uses MS SQL Server to Windows users/groups. Then grant pemission to the Windows users/groups to access the MS SQL Server.
If possible, I want to list Windows Users and Groups regardless of whether Active Directory is used or not.
I'm looking to migrate a number of sql users to windows authentication, so I want a list of each login and for each login a list of all their roles. My plan is to write 2 WHILE loops that will go through each login and for each login the list of roles. The first Row_Number is not returning the order that I want, I was expecting results like this:
1 Aaron ...... 1 db_reader
1 Aaron ...... 2 db_writer
2 Ben ....... 1 db_reader
The first row_number used doesn't seem to use the partition. The second seems to work fine.I know I can break this up into 2 queries but I want to understand where this is going wrong.
Code used:
SELECT
ROW_NUMBER() OVER(PARTITION BY sp.Name ORDER BY sp.name asc) as UserRowNo
, convert(char(45),sp.name) as srvLogin
, 'WIN' + convert(char(45),sp.name) AS WinLogin
[code].....
I have been using the software, and it has been working fine (on windows user A). Now, I have created another windows user (User B), and would like to use the same software/database. The software launches fine (User B), but cannot access the created SQL database (created with user A)
How do I setup the database to allow access from all users on the same PC?
Is
there a way to find a list of Windows User accounts that are directly
or indirectly (through Windows Group membership) assigned to a database
role?
I could put work in to CLR programming or using a Linked Server to
Active Directory, but if there is a sys.* view available that can
provide me this
information directly it would be much easier.
I'll be looking into this further myself anyway and posting an answer
if I can find one, but if anyone has suggestions... well, thanks!
Greetings!
Are there any limit of simultaneous users and/or connections when running SQL Express? The free license of SQL Express, does that include use by any number of users/devices?

we're planning to use sql express as our database server in our office. the database will consist of accounting, purchasing, marketing, sales, inventory, production and hrd tables. 80-100 users will use the system simultaneously in adding, editing, deleting, reports.
i need some advice on the following:
1. maximum users that can log on to the database simultaneously?
2. maximum size of the database?
tnx
I have now succefully setup SQL Server Express on an Admin PC in my office and can see it and connect to it easily from my PC using my NT logon.
My application is complete and runs a treat for me connecting to the server from my PC.
I have now deployed the application using ClickOnce and it has all gone smoothly, except for other NT users gaining access to the database?
Within MSMSE I have clicked on Security-Logins and can see my NT login details are present and as me I can administrate the server/db.
I have added a few new logins and even tried to match them to my settings but from their computers the application fails to logon to the server/database.
Within the ODBC setup the server is visible for them but they cannot connect?
If I logon to their computer it works for me?
This section is new to me so I am struggling to get it to work, can anyone throw me a bone please?
Thanks
Hi,
In SQL Server Express Edition, what are the rights that are assigned to a Normal Windows User and PowerUser by default ?
When I install SQL Express on a clean machine and login as Power User I can add/edit/delete data but when I login as Normal Windows User I can see the data but not change it.
Please help me in this regard.

Hello,
Ho do I allow multiple users to share a database?
Background
I have developed a Windows App in VS.NET 2005 which connects to a SQL 2005 Express database.
Now I want to install the app and database on the network and I am getting an error "File 'file_name' is on a network device not supported for database files"
What is the best way to get this working
Thanks in advance,
Phil
Does anyone know? If it works would there be disadvantages?
-- This one's tricky. You have to use calculus and imaginary numbers for this. You know, eleventeen, thirty-twelve and all those.
Hey,
If I use a SQL Express database in a windows app, does SQL Express have to be installed on the machine using it? Will only .NET framework suffice?
Thanks.
Will SQL Express SP2 automatically come down in the Windows Update Service or will we have to update our users? I seem to remember seeing something somewhere that it will.
Does anyone have a link to an authority or official notice on this?
Thanks,
Pat
