Any help on the following error which I am getting when I am trying to set up SQL Mail for Internet Mail with Outlook Express?
Error 22030: A Mapi error(error no 271)occured.Unable to get the default MAPI Message store due to mapi error 271:One or more of the receipients was not found in the address book.
I am using Windows NT 4.0, SQL Server 6.5 and Exchange 5.0. I would like to setup SQL mail. I tried to create mail login, NT expects for MS mail server name and login. When i enter my exchange server/login name does not recoganise.
How do you setup SQL Mail? I tried following the procedures on theonline manual but I do not understand what "On the instance of SQLServer, start the mail client using the newly created mail profile."means. What is the mail client? I have already setup the mail profilebut when I go to SQL Mail on Services and try setting it up, the profileI created is not showing on the pull down list.I appreciate any assistance.Thanks.*** Sent via Developersdex http://www.developersdex.com ***Don't just participate in USENET...get rewarded for it!
We are running SQL2000 on Windows2000 with Outlook2000.
The SQL Server machine is logged into as Administrator.
I've set up a mailbox called MyMailBox on the above server. I've also set up a profile called MyMailProfile on the server. They are the only Mailbox and profile on this machine and are setup correctly (by our network admin guy).
In services i've set the SQLServerAgent to login as Administrator.
Problems:-
(1) I then try to set the SQLMail profile name in SQL Server but MyMailProfile doesn't appear in the list (it's blank) ? I can type it in but when clicking the test button i get the following message - 'error 18025....failed with mapi error' any ideas ??
(2) If i try to set up an operator when i choose myself from the list and click test it says 'this will send a message to Paul etc'...which is fine but when i then click OK i get the message 'error 22022 SQLServerAgent error: The SQLSserverAgent mail session is not running, check the mail profile and/or the SQLServerAgent service startup account in the SQLServerAgent properties dialog.' so OK i can do that...
(3) ...in the mail session of the SQLServerAgent properties i have entered MyMailProfile and the service startup account is Administrator. The problem in number (2) is the same ??
I have also checked the services - the MSSQLServer service is logged on using local system account whereas SQLServerAgent is logged on using Administrator - is that a problem ?
From here i'm stuck.
Why doesn't it work ? Is it something to do with NT permissioning ?
Does anyone know a good on-line source to help with setting up SQL Server Mail ?
I would need to use sql-mail for alerts etc on an SQL server installed on an Windows XP machine. IIS is installed. Is that possible and in that case how? Can I use POP-account for it?
Iam not sure why Iam not able to successfully set up sql mail. here are the steps I follow:
1. I Created a user account and password to be used for sql server and sql agent as a service account.( Domain Namesqlservice ) 2. Logged off window 2000 then log in with the same account I created in step one. 3. double clicked mail icon in control panel to set up a mail account by specifying the following: pop :pop.erols.com smtp: smtp.erols.com I choose POP instead of IMAP to set up the mail account 4.tested the account by opening Outlook and was able to send and recieve mail via Outlook.
So far so good I assume that I have already (a)created a service account to be used for sql server and sql agen mail account (b) created a mail account (c)tested the mail. 5. I opened sql server and clicked on the mail in the management console to test the sql mail by typing the same mail account in the text box, then clicking test.... I got an error message the MAPI is not set up and it is not connecting to any profile.
another error I got was Error :xp_mapi profile : failed with mail error 0x80040106 Here are some questions that I am not sure about. Q1. Do I need to set up smtp service in service tab to use same account as sql server/ sql agent. It is using local system account now Q2. the above steps are correct, I guess so, so what is the reason not being able to set up the mail profile to be used by sql server mail
I've set up DB mail and sent a test e-mail and that comes through fine.
I set up an Operator with email Name: DWhelpton@k-and-s.com;MWeaver@k-and-s.com
I created a job and set up the notifications to e-mail the operator on failure.
When the job runs and fails, I do not get an e-mail and I get the following exception in the db mail log:

Lokendra writes "I have configured the Database mail profile and account in Sql Server 2005 but the mail is not sending and showing the following error message:

Anybody can tell me that what I can do so that i can send mail using the SMTP databasemail account."
I am getting the following error while starting the outlook97.
'Unable to open your default mail folders outlook couldn't start because a location to send and receive mail could not be found. To add a location ,such as a personal folder file ,double click on the mail icon in windows control panel'
Before that I have successfully configured and tested a mapi profile for internet mail.I need only out going mail facility. Thanks for any help.
I keep getting a generic "Error Sending Mail" error. For testing purposes I am just trying to send using my own email account. What goes in the SMTP Server box in the connection manager? I have tried:
A - the exchange server address (SOMETHING.us.company.com) B - The SMTP properties I see when I look at the properties of my email address: (my.name@abcd.efgh.company.com) C - Just the end portion of the SMTP properties: (abcd.efgh.company.com) D - My email address (my.name@company.com)
I don't know what to enter, or what is giving me such a generic error message.
I can't find the start option and the check box which says auto start when sql agent starts in 2000.
In sql 7.0 it was pretty simple to configure the mail.
First configure the MAPI, then restore the same in sql agent test it then go to suport service then right click on sql mail and select the profile and click start button there before this test the profile i know we had options such as auto start sqlmail when sql agent starts as well as start and stop in support service..
My problem is i don't see either of these information nor can i find the same..i tried everywhere but they seem to be lost some where..Can some let me know what exactly is the process to start and stop sqlmail in 2000.
When I run XP_sendmail,it says the 'mail sent',but the mail will just sit in the outlook out box.It is getting sent only while we exit outlook or when we hit send button in out box.The SQL mail is setup for internet mail on outlook97.Can anyone help?
Does anyone know what would cause SQL MAil or Exchange to save all messages and some 1K att*.txt files to the WINNT directory? This is filling up the hard drive on a production system so it's kind of urgent.
In Windows Server 2003 SP1 (x86) with Sql Server 2000 I could use the following connectionstring no problem DSN=Hello;
Now I am using Windows Server 2003 x64 and SQL 2005 and I get this error: Provider is not specified and there is no designated default provider.
If i try Provider=MSDASQL;DSN=Hello; i get Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed.
for DSNless this works fine: Provider=sqloledb;driver={sql server};server=(local);database=Hello;uid=sa;pwd=p wd;
but i am forced to use DSN as it is in a closed source application which uses set DSNs (the idea there being that you can change the connections how you like in ODBC)
This means that i need the ODBC provider name that will work in here: Provider=...;DSN=Hello;
and then to use whatever works in there as the "default provider" but i cannot find any information anywhere on how to do this!
I have create a SSIS package, for data export import process, but if my task get failed then i have to send a mail with proper error description as the SSIS generate in output window.
Can any one sugget me to, how can i store that error desciption in my variable.?

I'm trying to get sql mail up and running. I am able to get the service started. But when I go under SQL Mail/Properties and test the profile that I created it comes back with the following error. Error 22030 a MAPI error(error 273) occurred. Unable to get the default MAPI Message store due to MAPI error. the information store could not be opened. I am running sql server 7.0. I have set up a profile under the exchange. If I bring up outlook on the server I can send and receive messages. I have the both the mssqlserver and the sqlserveragent running under the same account. If I go under operators and do a test on one of the operators I get the following message. The sqlmail session is not running but I sit it running under enterprise manager. We are using the outlook. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I've just set up SQL Mail, and I think it's working -- at any rate, the envelope icon in Enterprise Manager is green. Problem is, no matter what address I try to mail to, I get an 'Unknown recipient' error.
My input:
xp_sendmail 'srenaker@alexa.com', 'This is a test message.'
I am very new to this and am having a problem with SQL mail. I want to be able to send view or query results via email. I have set up SQL mail and tested it and it works fine for sending notification messages to me. When I go to a query analyzer and issue the xp_sendmail 'jyoungbar@shorehealth.org','this is a test message' I always get the error that follows: Server: Msg 18025, Level 16, State 1, Line 0 xp_sendmail: failed with mail error 0x8004011d
I am probably missing something very minor here. Can anyone help me??

Any help on the following error which I am getting when I am trying to set up SQL Mail for Internet Mail with Outlook Express?
Error 22030: A Mapi error(error no 271)occured.Unable to get the default MAPI Message store due to mapi error 271:One or more of the receipients was not found in the address book.
We have Lotus Notes, but not interested in hooking up to it.As we need to have only outgoing mail facility to outside parties through internet, please advice how to connect using SMTP server and outlook express. Thanks!
I recently installed MS SQL server version 7.00.623 on a Win2k server. I installed Outlook 2000 and had the Exchange Administrator create a mailbox in order to use SQL Mail and SQL Server Agent alerts when jobs fail. The Outlook mailbox was set up with a different name then the SQL Server Agent so I created a new account for the SQL Server Agent to match the name of the mailbox. I can send and receive mail from Outlook when logged into the server but I receive the following error when testing the profile in SQL Mail and SQL Server Agent properties:
"[260] Unable to start mail session (reason: Unable to logon (reason: Unable to get the default MAPI Message Store due to MAPI error 273: The information store could not be opened); check the mail profile and/or the SQLServerAgent service startup account)"
The SQL Server Agent account is a NT User type, uses NT Authentication and has sysadmin server privledges and I am attempting to configure the mail while logging in to the server via Terminal Services Client using this account. I have tried to stop and restart the SQL Server Agent services but still receive the same error. When I log into Outlook, I receive a dialog box titled "Enter Password" that asks for a user name, domain name and password. The Exchange Admin. set this up so I have to use my user name, domain and password.
Do I need to install a service pack for SQL Server?
Did changing the SQL Server Agent account cause this to fail?
Does anyone have any insight on why I cannot get SQL Mail configured?
have new sql 2005 install. I thought I setup the mail correctly. I setup an operator and could send test email to operator. I then setup a job to send email to the operator when job completes. Got the error below
Date 6/16/2006 8:45:57 AM Log SQL Agent (Current - 6/16/2006 8:45:00 AM)
Message [264] An attempt was made to send an email when no email session has been established
Ive created an Account and a Profile using Configure Database Mail Wizard.
Ive tried to send an email using this account, but I get this error
The mail could not be sent to the recipients because of the mail server failure. (Sending Mail using Account 1 (2007-09-13T17:05:09). Exception Message: Cannot send mails to mail server. (Server does not support secure connections.). )
I am using the Configure Publishing and Distribution Wizard in the SQL Server Enterprise Manager to configure a server as a Distribution and Publishing server. The security configuration on the server in question for authentication is SQL Server and Windows NT.
When I get to the first page in the wizard I select that I want to use the server as the Distributor. The other option is to use another server for the Distribution server - and this isn't what I want to do. The next page presents the option to use the default settings to configure the distribution databases or to configure the setup. If I select the default options I get the following error message when the arrow is pointing to Configuring Distributor:
---------------------------------------------- SQL Server Enterprise Manager could not configure 'SERVER1' as the Distributor for
'SERVER1'.
Error 18456: Login failed for user 'sa'. Remote logins for remote server 'repl_distributor' have been dropped. Server dropped. Server added. Server network name set.
----------------------------------------------
Something I have tried to change in order to fix this issue is the 'Replication agents on the Distributor log into the Publisher:' option from its default (By impersontating the SQL Agent account on 'SERVER1' (trusted connection)) to 'Using SQL Server Authentication of this account:', and in those fields I have put in 'sa' (which is a valid admin account to the SQL server) and the correct password.
In all cases I get the message above. Can anyone help me to see what I am doing wrong?
Hi I downloaded MSDE2005 and I tried to set up an ODBC connection to adatabase I created. I can see the database using client but I got thiserror through the ODBC manager[Microsoft][SQL Native Client]An error has occurred whileestablishing a connection to the server. When connecting toSQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact thatunder the default settings SQL Server does not allowremote connections. Can anyone, please tell me what I need to do to get this setup? I triedto dabble with the TCIP and remote setting but nothing worked.Regards
I am creating the report and setting the datasource(dataset) dynamically to the report. I want to set the parameters also dynamically. am using Report Viewer to process the report.
