SQL Mail Profile
May 27, 2001Hi,
Is it necesarry that to run SQL Mail, you need MS Exchange Server as the mail server? Our mail server is MDaemon 2.8. Can anyone tell me what would be the mail profile for MDaemon?

SQL 2012 :: Find Profile Name In Stored Mail Profile That Already Exists
Jan 22, 2015We have a previous SQL 2012 cluster that emails us when a new database is added. I am unable to figure out why we get this error any time we add a new database to it, and also it prevents us from adding a new availability group to this cluster because of this error.
I also am unable to figure out what profile it is talking about as this was setup before me and I am not a DBA.

Apr 25, 2007I have sql 2000 sp4 running on a cluster, we had to fail over to other cluster, and now the sql agent choice to use a mail profile is grayed out. I can go to sql mail and test the profile and it works, but I can't change it for the sql agent? Anyone seen this before

Oct 30, 2015We had a strange incident with our Database Mail today. We use sp_send_DBMail to send mail from stored procedures in our SQL Server 2012 (11.0.2138). There are 7 profiles available for use by different databases. The actual stored procedures are called by Web apps using a connection string that has a specific SQL user identified.
Last night app 1 was using profile 1 like usual and app 3 was using profile 3 like usual. This this morning (7 hours later) App 3 was sending from profile 1 everytime a call to sp_send_dbmail was made. Not good. App 1 was still correctly sending from profile 1.
We ran a call to sp_send_dbmail from a query window using profile 3 and it sent using the correct profile 3. We used the Database Mail right-click option of "Send Test Email..." to both profiles and they worked as expected.
Our investigation showed that in the Database Mail configuration wizard "Manage Profile Security" section Private Profiles tab... the User name that is used to call the stored procedures from web app 3's sp_send_DBMail did not have access to profile 3 anymore. It did have access to 5 of the other 7 profiles. 1 of the no access profiles was legitimate #7.
The only thing that has been changed lately was, 2 days ago a mail profile was deleted as it was no longer used. We used the Database Mail Configuration Wizard to remove it.
Mail Profile Disabled In SQL Server Agent Properties
Jul 23, 2005It's a Windows 2000 Server box with SQL 2000 on it. MSSQLSERVER &SQLSERVERAGENT services are logged in as valid domain user. I set up amail profile for that user, and can send email via Outlook 2003.However, when I go to the SQL Agent Properties in Enterprise Manager,Mail Profile is disabled.I've restarted the services & even tried rebooting the server. Thisworks on my other servers, but they're Windows 2003. Not sure ifthat's the problem though.Anybody have any clues?

Jun 27, 2007I want to enable notifications for SQL Agent for my backup jobs.
I configured database mail and that works, it sent me a test message.
However, when I go to tell the SQL Agent to use it, it sees database mail as an option, but the drop down for Profile is blank.
Any thoughts on what I may be doing wrong?
(I restarted the agent service just in case)

Feb 17, 2007I use the default database called "ASPNETDB.mdf" that is automatically created in Visual Studio Express 2005....
There is an table called "aspnet_Profile" that holds the profile-properties, UserID etc.
There is also another table called "aspnet_Users" that holds all usernames, UserID etc...
No to my problem:
I have a SqlDataSource-control and want to select all users that have the property profile.Color = "Blue"....
How can I write the SQL-part for that?

Can anyone tell me whether it is possible and How?
I am currently using the session state to store it in and then using the session=... to get the value into the parameter.
Is there a direct way of passing this value into a SelectParameter when using a SqlDataSource?

XP_sendmail Puts Copy Of Mail In Sent Mail Of Exchange Client.
Jul 9, 2001I am using nt4.0 sp5 with sql7.0 sp3 and exchange client.
Does anyone know how to keep xp_sendamil form putting a copy of the mail message in the sent mail folder or an automated process for deleting all mail in the sent folder? As it stands now I must manually delete all messages from the sent mail folder on a daily basis.

Hopefully someone out there will have an idea as this is driving me nuts.
I've setup a task to email on success/failure and keep receiving the following message when executed:
Progress: The SendMail task is initiated. - 0 percent complete
[Send Mail Task] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: "Failure sending mail.".
Progress: The SendMail task is completed. - 100 percent complete
Task Send Mail Task failed
When I configure Outlook Express on the same machine with the same settings it works.
On the SMTP Connection Manager I have left the default name, tested with both an IP address and Server Name, and no authentication or SSL.
On the Send Mail Task, it uses the above connection. The To: , From: , Subject fields are populated. Message SourceType is DirectInput, MessageSource is Test, Priority is Normal and no attachments or expressions etc.
Nothing useful is logged in the Event Viewer even with full logging turned on.
Any suggestions appreciated,

Does The Profile Provider Uses Cache?

When I call for example: Profile.FirstName does this access the DB every time this call appears in my code?
Or all the profile is loaded to the cache when the user first loggs on?

May 28, 2008I had a profile element named "Country", however, I want it to be named "CountryId". I can change this in the web.config with no problems, but then I need to update the code manually any place Profile.Country is referenced. Also, it seems I would have to write some SQL to update all the values in the profile table from Country to CountryId. Is there an easier way to do this? Now, when I go to the EM SQLAgent Properties, the only MAP profile offered in the SQLMail drop-down is the old, deleted profile. Also, only the old profile comes up with xp_get_MAPI_profiles.

Our company use yahoo business mail server for our corporate mails. I know that I can configure database mail with SMTP. But when I try to configure database mail account with yahoo bizmail, I cannot do that. It gets configured but when I test it it doesn't send any mails. Do I need to have any special condiguration for this. SMTP address is smtp.bizmail.yahoo.com. Also I have specified the Authentication using my user name and password. Please help

Feb 6, 2008I keep getting a generic "Error Sending Mail" error. For testing purposes I am just trying to send using my own email account. What goes in the SMTP Server box in the connection manager? I have tried:
A - the exchange server address (SOMETHING.us.company.com)
B - The SMTP properties I see when I look at the properties of my email address: (my.name@abcd.efgh.company.com)
C - Just the end portion of the SMTP properties: (abcd.efgh.company.com)
D - My email address (my.name@company.com)

Sending Mail To Several Users With Send Mail Task ?
Nov 10, 2006I know you can specify additional recipients in the To column by sepperating them with a semicolon. But whats the easiest way to send to several users, when the email address must be retrieved from a table with a query like this:
select email from problem_subscribers
where project = 'project1'
and statusmail = 'OnError'
So when the eventhandler gets an OnError i want the mail task to be sent to each problemsubscriber.
