Any help on the following error which I am getting when I am trying to set up SQL Mail for Internet Mail with Outlook Express?
Error 22030: A Mapi error(error no 271)occured.Unable to get the default MAPI Message store due to mapi error 271:One or more of the receipients was not found in the address book.
We have Lotus Notes,but not interested in hooking up to it.As we need to have only outgoing mail facility to outside parties through internet,please advice how to connect using SMTP server and outlook express.

I have a third part mail server program. Can the third party software be used in setting this up? I have the book infront of me, but can not find any MAPI-compliant mail client that can connect where ever it needs. What do I need, and what steps do I need to make this work?

I'm running sqlserver 2000 EE on windows nt 4.0 server. We are using Microsoft outlook express. I would like to setup our sqlserver to notify me via e-mail when a job finishes.
1) What value should I have for mail profile. Under sql server age properties.
I tried installing SQL Mail but it didnt work. What happened was, when I was entering the SQLMail profile for an Exchange User name. It took those values. Now when we ran/initialize SQLMail service, the Cluster Services kept rebooting/re-initializing all the services. Therefore, system crash and will not provide any services any longer. We tried resolving it by running the SQL services in node 2 and we got MSSQLServer v6.5 service running but the SQLExecutive service will not start. I tried to reset the permissions on the services and have that SQLExecutive run on the NT Administrator account.
After reading a few technotes from MS and applying them. None seem to have worked so far. Here are some of the technotes: Q195761 Q158585 Q155697 Q155283
(1) How can we fix the SQLExecutive so it will autostart with bringing down the cluster (2) What can we do to successfully run SQL mail on the cluster server with this all the variables in this situation.
Wondering if there is a different way to setup mail because of Windows Server 2003 instead of Windows Server 2000? The server I'm being asked to get mail working on will have an exchange email account and I'm not familiar with setting this up. On my 2000 machine I had to use Outlook 2000 with option for Corporate or Workgroup an a POP email account. Any help is appreciated.
I've set up DB mail and sent a test e-mail and that comes through fine.

I created a job and set up the notifications to e-mail the operator on failure.

I have XP Pro SP2 with MDAC 2.8.1022. It had a problem so I tried to reinstall MDAC and got a Fatal Setup Error. This setup does not support installing on this operating system. I downloaded MDAC 2.8 1177 and get the same error.
I thought of uninstalling/reinstalling SP2, but this is a 2 month old Dell Latitude 610 with factory installed XP. There is no Windows Service Pack 2 option listed in the Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
There's some other strange things, so I wonder if they are related.
1) I have Paul set up as an administrator account. Some folders like MSSQL show that account with no permissions. I grant all the permissions to Paul for that folder. I come back later and the permissions are gone.
2) I deleted 20 files in Explorer, but 7 of them did not go away. I deleted those 7 again and they instatnly reappeared. I deleted those 7 again and then they finally went away.
3) I get a slow reaction time for things like Windows Explorer and opening and closing programs. This is suprising since it has 2 gig of RAM and 2.3 Gig processor. Could it be a memory handling problem that's causing OS problems. Probably, the memory didn't handle the OS installation well and the whole system is compromised now.
I keep getting a generic "Error Sending Mail" error. For testing purposes I am just trying to send using my own email account. What goes in the SMTP Server box in the connection manager? I have tried:
A - the exchange server address (SOMETHING.us.company.com) B - The SMTP properties I see when I look at the properties of my email address: (my.name@abcd.efgh.company.com) C - Just the end portion of the SMTP properties: (abcd.efgh.company.com) D - My email address (my.name@company.com)
I don't know what to enter, or what is giving me such a generic error message.
I'm trying to install SQL Server Management studio 2012 on my Windows 7 (x64) standalone laptop. When I click "New SQL stand-alone installation..." it runs a Setup Support Rules check and always fails "Setup Account Privileges". I've looked into the error and I keep getting that I need to change security rules but I don't have that option in window 7. How do I get around this without having to resort to a computer running Windows Server?

I have create a SSIS package, for data export import process, but if my task get failed then i have to send a mail with proper error description as the SSIS generate in output window.

I'm trying to get sql mail up and running. I am able to get the service started. But when I go under SQL Mail/Properties and test the profile that I created it comes back with the following error. Error 22030 a MAPI error(error 273) occurred. Unable to get the default MAPI Message store due to MAPI error. the information store could not be opened. I am running sql server 7.0. I have set up a profile under the exchange. If I bring up outlook on the server I can send and receive messages. I have the both the mssqlserver and the sqlserveragent running under the same account. If I go under operators and do a test on one of the operators I get the following message. The sqlmail session is not running but I sit it running under enterprise manager. We are using the outlook. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I've just set up SQL Mail, and I think it's working -- at any rate, the envelope icon in Enterprise Manager is green. Problem is, no matter what address I try to mail to, I get an 'Unknown recipient' error.

Hello, I am new to SQL but i have all the perfect tutorials and other things i need, but im having trouble actually getting it to install on my computer, i have the correct version, that i need for the tutorial provided, i get into the installation, and just as it finishes the installation of SQL sever 2005, a box comes up saying Hotfix.exe had an unexpected porblem and needs to close, i ignore it and carry on with the installation, it says things installed, SQL Server 2005 next to it says failure, i have been searching the net for 2 days now trying to find an answer, and still havnt got one, i need to finish my project by tuesday i need serious help.

I recently installed MS SQL server version 7.00.623 on a Win2k server. I installed Outlook 2000 and had the Exchange Administrator create a mailbox in order to use SQL Mail and SQL Server Agent alerts when jobs fail. The Outlook mailbox was set up with a different name then the SQL Server Agent so I created a new account for the SQL Server Agent to match the name of the mailbox. I can send and receive mail from Outlook when logged into the server but I receive the following error when testing the profile in SQL Mail and SQL Server Agent properties:
"[260] Unable to start mail session (reason: Unable to logon (reason: Unable to get the default MAPI Message Store due to MAPI error 273: The information store could not be opened); check the mail profile and/or the SQLServerAgent service startup account)"
The SQL Server Agent account is a NT User type, uses NT Authentication and has sysadmin server privledges and I am attempting to configure the mail while logging in to the server via Terminal Services Client using this account. I have tried to stop and restart the SQL Server Agent services but still receive the same error. When I log into Outlook, I receive a dialog box titled "Enter Password" that asks for a user name, domain name and password. The Exchange Admin. set this up so I have to use my user name, domain and password.
Do I need to install a service pack for SQL Server?
Did changing the SQL Server Agent account cause this to fail?
Does anyone have any insight on why I cannot get SQL Mail configured?

Searching BOL for 3010 returns nothing.
Other error codes that were seen are 1603 and 9009.
What do these error codes mean? Is there a place where they can be looked up?
The setup is on a Win 2003 attempting to install SQL 2005 standard edition using an Active Directory account part of the domain admin group (for the purposes of the install only). I set up e-mail on my SQL server (7.0) via SMTP. I installed Outlook '97. Typical Installation. Everything was working fine, for couple of days, then I got Dr. Watson messages, about MAPI. Dr.Watson The application, exemapisp32.dbg, generated an application error The error occurred on 11/ 7/2000 @ 11:35:48.437 The exception generated was c0000005 at address 6e4f2630 (<nosymbols>)
Then SQL will give me this message:

Anyway, try to reinstall Outlook '97, but the problem continues. Any help, will be greatly appreciated.
