I am having problems installing the SP1 for SQL server 2005 on a W2K3 R2 server. It appears that the Database Services and Analysis Services are not being updated. I would appreciate any help with this if anyone has seen or had experience with this issue.
Thanks, the basic log file is listed below.

we have automated build on every night. In our solution is SSIS project, where each package is encrypted per password. We call build process per command line like this..
C:ProgrammeMicrosoft Visual Studio 8Common7IDEdevenv.exe (c:DevelopmentX3\X3.sln /build Release)' in 'c:DevelopmentProjectsDailyBuild
Through build process we get a error:
External Program Failed: C:ProgrammeMicrosoft Visual Studio 8Common7IDEdevenv.exe (return code was 1):
We think a reason is, that on build of SSIS project must be entered a password. You can wonder for what we need that SSIS packages are part of our build. We hope that on build process is also created Deployment Utility, if so set in dtproject.user. Is it so? Is there any way to create Deployment utility on automated build process? Can be a password provided pre command line?
I am attempting to install the first of the cumulative hotfix packages ( SQL2005-KB918222-x64-ENU.exe) after applying Service Pack 1 to a SQL Server 2005 std edn 64-bit installation. The service pack installed no problem but the hot fix fails with the following errors in the log file below.
I have installed the 32-bit versions of the hotfix packages onto a different server and I did not get these errors.
Any help on how to sort this out would be much appreciated!

I want to build a silent setup/installation of MS-SQL-Server-Express 2005 for installation on customers computers. I want to integrate it in my own setup/installation routine of my application. How can I do that? Where can I get Infos or tutorials? Perhaps here ?
I believe that I mistakenly attempted to apply the Analysis Services component of this update before applying the SQL Server component. The update now fails continuously with the following message:

The update fails although I have cleaned the registry of any reference to it. Another article indicated that the hotfix may delete registry keys required, for instance, to operated SSIS if applied in the wrong order. Here, it appears to be preventing the hotfix from being reapplied. I have ensured that all necessary permissions are available and the services are running in domain user accounts with the necessary rights. I'm the administrator on the machine.
Is there a way to get this hotfix applied without having to completely rip and rebuild my server instance?

I am trying to install SQL Server 2000 on a Win2K OS machine but Iget this error message:"A previous program installation created pending file operations onthe installation machine. You must restart the computer before runningsetup."I see others have had this problem but have fixed it using the solutionin:http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;en-us;312995I have tried the solution but to no avail. The registry key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetContro lSessionManagerPendingFileRenameOperations keeps reappearing as soon as Iclose RegEdit.Any ideas? Thanks,lq
I would really be grateful for some advice regarding the above matter (note: am novice to the 'client/server' implementation, so would ask for your patience, pls!):
We have a front-end Access 2K app’n, which connects to some back-end data, (using a 'dsn-less' ODBC link (Access table)). The system was not in use for several months, during which time the server was re-built. The problem I’m having is that although I can connect to the back-end data, the other users are unable to do this.
I have been looking into the problems/issues encountered so far, including:
· - Updating the dsn-less connection table within the front-end Access application (note: we have other applications which use this method for connectivity, without any problems here), i.e.
ODBC;Driver={SQL Server};APP=Microsoft Access;UID={updated username};PWD={updated password};Server={name of server};DATABASE={name of database on server}
· Re-visiting the ‘ODBC Data Source Administrator’ and checking the configuration of the ‘Microsoft SQL Server DSN Configuration’ (i.e. ‘Window authentication, using the network login’, etc).
The strange thing is that I’m able to access the back-end data, via the application without any problems at all (I’m using the full version of MS Access 2K, as need to eventually make changes to the front-en app’n. All of the users have MS Access 2K run-time only installed).
However when the user tries to log, they acquire ‘ODBC—connection to {Access application name} failed’ messages.
Up to three other users have tried to access the system, and acquire error message of the following nature:
Within the front-end application:
· ‘The {Access application name} is not available (Error No: 3151. Error: ODBC—connection to {Access application name}’ failed.)
· (1) Initially the user obtains the message: ‘The expression you entered has a function that ‘{Access application name}’can’t find.’ Then (2) I receive an ‘Action Failed’ on the ‘AutoExec’ macro (this is set up to execute a function which acquires the user’s window’s login details).
Linking to the back-end data:
· Connection failed: SQLState: ‘28000’. SQL Server Error: 18456. [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Login failed for user ‘{domain_name}{users_Windows_login_name}’.
· Whilst user was logged in at my desktop, I tried to implement a ‘SQL Server ODBC Data Source Test’. However the ‘Test Results’ have been as follows
“Microsoft SLQ Server QDBC Driver Version 03.85.1117. Running connectivity tests… Attempting connection [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Login failed for user ‘{domain_name}{users_Windows_login_name}’.
We currently have other client/server applications which link using the above methods (ODBC dns-less connections, etc), but have no problems with the user’s and their permissions to access these.
Would appreciate any help/suggestions/advice, etc with this.
I have developed one SSIS package. Later on i deleted one unused connection from it. When I try to deploy the package, it is giving error that the connection is missing from the container of collection. The same package is executing successfully even after throwing this error. Please advice
I removed a role in the datasourceview of a datamodel. Later I removed the role in the reportmodel. There are always two roles for one relation. Now I only have one role left and I can't delete it anymore.
This is the error I get when building the project.
Error 2 The RelatedRoleID property of the Role 'invoicelineid' refers to the Role 'Gd1b03590-f98b-46aa-945d-c90ccd5d6028', which is not in the same SemanticModel as the Role 'invoicelineid'. Max generiek.smdl 0 0
When I try to remove the role I'll get an error : object reference not set to an instance of an object.
If I look at the properties of the role I see that when I open 'related role' there is nothing in it, except an ID: Gd1b03590-f98b-46aa-945d-c90ccd5d6028 and as name: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
I also tried to remove the whole entity but that resulted in the same error. It's not an option for mee to remove the whole model and autogenerate it again, but there is too much work in it already.
If I try to remove this thing in the xml itself it gives other errors and the model won't load anymore.
*Before* I actually call up Microsoft SQL Customer Support Services and ask them, I wanted to ping other people to see if you have ever ran into this exact error
"Internal Query Processor Error: The query processor could not produce a query plan. For more information, contact Customer Support Services."
I would have searched the forums myself, but at this moment in time, search is broken :(
If anyone has run into this error before, what conditions would exist that this could happen? That is, if I can sniff this out with suggestions from the community, I would be happy to do so.
It is an oddity because if I alter a couple subqueries in the where clause [ i.e., where tab.Col = (select val from tab2 where id='122') ]to not have subqueries [hand coded values], then the t-sql result is fine. It's not as if subqueries are oddities... I've used them when appropriate.
fwiw - Not a newbie t-sql guy. ISV working almost daily with t-sql since MS SQL 2000. I have never seen this message before...at least I don't recall ever seeing it.
Thanks in advance for other suggested examination paths.
When ever i tried to build a cube, i get stuck in this attribute relationship. either i shows a "yellow" icon in the hierarchy or "red" underline in the attribute column.I dont know how to rectify those errors.
Good day good people of the forum while carrying out a remote installation i encountered an UNC path error can anyone be of help giving me a comprehensive answer to the problem. am stuck i cant move ahead from that part of the installation

Hi guys,I was trying to install the Sql Server 2005 Enterprise Edition when I get the following error: error 193 installing .net framework 2 Any idea wat's tat about and how to solve it? Thanks in advance.
I have a strange error while trying to install SP4 on a SQL 70 running on Windows 2000.
During installation, when it is running sp*_*.sql scripts, the installation fails. When I retry, it fails again on another .sql script. It is not always the same script, there are 8 scripts to run, sometimes it applies 5 and fails on 6th, sometimes it fails on 1st itself.
I checked the output file in MSSQL7Install*.out, it says login as sa failed. If it can't connect then how come it applied first few scripts.
I have disabled all the services mentioned in the installation guide. The master and msdb have autogrow enabled and there are enough space in all drives (> 1 GB)
I had similar problem with another instance, but it worked after retrying.
I even ran all the scripts in ISQL, but there may be more steps to be performed by the installer. I can start the server but I doubt its integrity.
Sorry for babbling. But I have tried everything I can think of. Any input will be greatly appreciated.
I just got through installing MS SQL Server 6.5 standard edition on one of our servers. The SQLServer and Executive services were setup to use a network admin account specifically setup for MS SQL Server with administrative priveleges.
At the end of the setup, neither service would start. I then went into the Control Panel / Services program and was able to successfully start the SQLServer service but the Executive service would not start. I am using the same network account for both.
When I try to start the service, I get the following error message..
"SQL Executive - Server specific error 109, service did not start."
Even though the SQLServer service did start, when I try to connect to the server using the Enterprise Manager, I get "SQLServer is unavailable or does not exist."
When installing SQL 7.0 on W2K Server, I receive an error stating: Setup Failed to configure server, view errogs etc. for more info. Below is the error: __________________________________________________ __ Starting Service ...

I am trying to install SQLServer 2005 on a new Windows XP machine with SP2. Unfortuantely I get the error message "The drop location is missing file(s) that allow setup to determine how a multi instance product should be installed. Setup cannot continue, please repair the drop and try again." How do I fix this so that SQL Server can be installed?
I had sql server installed and had to install because of some problem. I uninstalled SQL Server. and then tried to install it again. However, while during the installation of "Workstation Components, Books Online and Development Tools", I got this error "Sample databases are higher version than SQL server instance specified. Sample databases cannot be attached to older SQL instance." . Now I am not able to use SQL Server. Any help?
I have both developer and enterprise edition of SQL 2005. I originally installed developer then did an uninstall and tried to install enterprise. Everytime it starts to install I get the following error description:
EventType : sql90setup P1 : installtoolsaction.10 P2 : 0x643 P3 : sqls__installpackageaction__perform P4 : 0x643 P5 : packageengine_installpackageaction.cpp@167 P6 : setup.exe@2005.90.1399.0 P7 : none It bombs when it tries to install the client tools.
The first time I installed it worked fine but trying to reinstall has caused this error to occur everytime. I have tried full uninstall/reboots and nothing seems to help. It is coming from an unzipped ISO but I don't see why that would be a problem. Any Suggestions ?
I get the following error when installing SQL Server Express SP2 on Windows XP SP2 with all current updates. The only other thing installed is .NET 2.0. Does anyone know how to resolve the issue.
