Hi there
Our ISP hosts our data on SQL Server Enterprise, but I also going to host the databases on my local machine.
As it's just local would Standard edition do? If I migrate the databases over, will it work?
Thanks in advance.

Hello all,
Here I need some help or suggestions for the following topic...
I am using SQL server 2000 enterprise edition installed on the machine. Now I wanted to change the edition from enterprise to standard.
There are around 4 user databases exists on the server.
What are the areas I have to take care while doing this? Could I do as normal installation?
No log shipping implemented on the server.
Your suggestions would be very helpful to me.
Thanks in advance.

I am getting the following warning on a Live SQL 2000 system:
This SQL Server has been optimized for 8 concurrent queries. This limit has been exceeded by 1 queries and performance may be adversely affected.
Reading about this error I realised that, by mistake, the version installed is a personal edition instead of the standard edition.
I am thinking to backup the databases, uninstall SQL 2000 Personal edition, install Standard edition and restore the databases back.
OR, disconnect the databases, uninstall the current version, install the standard version and re-connect the databases.
I haven't found within Microsoft any advice how to upgrade the personal version to the standard edition.
Because it is a live system, I would not like to mess the system up. Can you please advice?
Many thanks

I need to buy SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition.
Both Windows Marketplace and Amazon.com sell SS 2005 Dev, and I bought it, but I also need 2000 Dev.
Windows Marketplace does not have it at all, whereas Amazon.com does not sell it directly (only from resellers, and their prices are crazy).
Could someone kindly recommend where I could purchase SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition for approximately the same (same and sane!..) price as SS 2005 Dev: that is, ~$50, please?

I am currently using MS Access for my site and am ready to move on.
I have obtained (legally) SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition.
Before I install this on my pc to learn this new tool and begin adjustments to my site, I have an important question, If I can phrase it correctly.
1. Will this set up my pc as a SQL server as well as keep the current configurations?
2. I have some projects I would like to keep using MS Access, how would this effect it?
3. I have never created a database using SQL or MySQL, any suggested tutorial links?
Thanks,
Zath

For testing purposes only, I'd like to install SQL Server 2000 Evaluation Edition on a server. From what I've read, this edition is a full Enterprise Edition, but it will expire after 160 days. But is it a full edition in the sense that users can connect to it when it's installed on a server, like if it was the Enterprise Edition? So far, I've only had it installed at local computers outside any network.

I am currently trying to migrate to a new computer. My old computer (Box 1) has Windows 2000 Ver 5.0 SP4 as an operating system. My new computer (Box 2) has Windows XP Professional Ver 5.1 SP2 as an operating system.
Currently, I have Microsoft SQL Server 2000 running on Box 1. When I used the CD to install the software on Box 2, it will not allow a full install. Just the Client portion. The exact message I get is "Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition is not supported on this operating system. Only client components will be available for installation.
How in the world do I get this software to install on Box 2? I've seen and downloaded, the service packs but I don't know where to go from there.
Thanks in advance for any help that you can provide.

I am confused how this can be.. Any thoughts ?
The only way I figured this out was because we kept getting the you have exceeded your limit of 8 concurent queries...

One of my clients has an application that only requires €œSQL Server 2000 Personal Edition€? (the new versions of SQL are not supported). Tried going to Microsoft€™s download center to get €œSQL Server 2000 Personal Edition€?, but all I found were the service packs. I also talked to the client about getting an updated version of the application he is using, but it is not cost effective. Does anyone know where I can get/buy a copy of €œSQL Server 2000 Personal Edition€?? Thanks for your help and time.

Hi All,
I am facing a familiar issue, with a slight variance in the situation. I have already spent hours googling for a solution, so along with the problem I'll highlight what I have already tried to remedy it.
Problem
--------
I am trying to install SQL Server 2000 Dev. Edition on my Win XP SP1 platform. I did a default instance installation. I am able to start up the server and keep it up.
Issue
-----
On opening the Enterprise Manager I get the error, "SQLDMO.DLL not registered, re-run SQL Server setup etc."
Next I navigated to <install dir>Microsoft SQL Server80ToolsBinn and executed regsvr32 sqldmo.dll and I get the following error, "LoadLibrary("sqldmo.dll") failed - Invalid Access to Memory Location"
Comments
----------
I have verified that all the relevant dlls are present in the above and <...>system32 folders. I have also created an alias for the server using the client network utility.
There was a time when I had installed SQL Server 2000 previously and I did manage to get it to work, even the sqldmo.dll registeration bit. But uninstalled it subsequently as I was having space issues.
Since then I have installed various XP hotfixes and security fixes, except for Win XP SP2
Any thoughts, anyone?????

Dear all,
This is the first time using this forum, I hope I can get some help.
I have started studying SLQ Server 2000 at home as I have a Video Tutorial but I thought I need to install SLQ Server 2000 to follow the training. I have been trying to instal SLQ Server 2000 Enterprise Edition on both Windows XP Pro Pack2 and Windows 2000 but I get this message saying "Microsoft SQL server 2000 enterprise edition server component is not supported on this operating system only client component will be available for installation "
I do not know anything about SQL and I thought I must have been doing something wrong otherwise it would not give me the same warning on both operating systems.
I do not know what is it I do wrong and I would appreciate your help and assistance.
Thank you

We got SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition SP3 running on Windows 2003 Standard Edition server.
Now, we would like to apply windows 2003 SP2 to the Operating System.
We are concerned that whether windows 2003 SP2 is compatible with SQL server 2000 (SP3)?
I was looking at the application compatibility chart for Windows 2003 SP2.Among them Microsoft SQL Server Standard (2000) was listed but with no Service pack details. And also does Standard means standard edition there?
My Question - Is windows 2003 server SP2 compatible with SQL Server 2000 (SP3) Standard Edition? And what if I plan to apply SP4 to Sql Server ?
Please help. Thanks

Hello,
I recently upgraded my MSDE server to SQL Server 2000 database. After the upgrade, I see, every minute,in the logfile that the database is starting whilst in Enterprise manager the database is up and running. I would be grateful if you could bail me out of this anomaly.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Albert.
