Help With How To Send E-Mail (Parent - Child Matching Records) From SQL 2005 Stored Procedure.
Oct 31, 2007Folks,Using NorthWind as Example: Parent Table derived from: Categories. I added a new Column E-Mail and Selecting rows where Category Id <=3. Here is my Data.

48 piesI would like to read 1st Category Id, Category E-Mail from Categories Table (ie. Category Id = 1), find that in Products Table. If match, extract matching records for that Category from Both Tables (Categories.CategoryID, Products.ProductName, Products.QuantityPerUnit) and e-mail them based on E-Mail Address from Parent (Categories ) Table. If no E-Mail Address is listed, do not create output file. In this instance Category Id = 3.Basically I want to select 1st record from Parent Table (Here is Category) and search for all matching Products in Products Table. And Create an E-mail and sending just those matching records. Repeat the same process for remaining rows from Categories Table. I am expecting my E-Mail Output like this: For Category Id: 1

12 - 12 oz jarsI am not extracting the Data for any user Interface (ie. Grid View/Form View Etc). I will just create a Command Button in an ASP.NET 2.0 form to extract Data. My Tables are in SQL 2005. I was thinking to read the Category records in a Data Reader and within the While Loop, call a SP to retrieve the matching records from Products Table. If matching records found, call System SP_Mail to send the E-mail. The drawback with that for every category records (Within While Loop) I need to call my SP to get Products Data. Will be OVERKILL? Ideally I would like extract my records with one call to a SP. Is there any way I can run a while loop inside the SP and extract Child Data based on Parent Record? Any Help or sample URL, Tutorial Page will be appreciated. Thanks

Using ASP Mail To Send Mails From MSSQL 2000 Server

I am using a script to send mails from MSSQL 2000 server. The script is trying to use the ASPMail object is located within a SQL Job or DTS package in the SQL database. It is not being run through an ASP page. The ASPMail object works fine if running in an ASP page running on win2003 server. It DOES NOT work when trying to create the object within SQL ActiveX VB script running on mssql server. If I am using this script in a job and use Microsoft's Enterprise Manager it only tells me that the job failed. If I try to use this script in a DTS package I get the error: 'Can not create object ("SMTPsvg.Mailer"). If I use a third database manager I get the following error: 'Execute permission denied on object xp_ServiceControl database' Please let me know what is causing this and how to fix it. There's a great article on how to do this on a SBS 2000 server (KB304967), but it does not apply to SBS 2003. Can anyone point me to a article or white paper on how to configure SQL on a SBS 2003 server to send e-mail. Thanks.

Configure SMTP Server Mail To Send Mail

The Database Mail feature is already enabled on the server, also I have a mail account on the other server.
The problem I faced is that I need to send mail from my SQL Server using a created email account on the other server. How should I configure my email to do that ?
Should I use a sysmail_add_account procedure to enable account, also set profile and profile account ? Does this way creates server mail account that is binded with other email account?
The mail should be sent from my SQL Server.

Security For Stored Proc In MSDB To Send Mail

We have a stored proc to send email in the MSDB database.
It works when processed in Query Analyzer.
In the app it gives us a permission error.
When I right click on the sp to give security, I do not see properties.
How do I give security to this stored proc?

Send Mail Task - Succeeds But Does Not Send Mail
Nov 28, 2007I have attempted to report out errors at the end of an ETL process by alerting supporting DBAs of errors using the SSIS "Send Mail Task". Task completes along with the sequenced packages, but does not mail anything out. No logic at this time for trigger, just success from the previous task triggering the task to send mail. I also get no errors in the output, and I get no output indicating the send mail task fired, but it does go "green". Do I have to enable database mail and have privileges?

Hopefully someone out there will have an idea as this is driving me nuts.
I've setup a task to email on success/failure and keep receiving the following message when executed:
Progress: The SendMail task is initiated. - 0 percent complete
[Send Mail Task] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: "Failure sending mail.".
Progress: The SendMail task is completed. - 100 percent complete
Task Send Mail Task failed
When I configure Outlook Express on the same machine with the same settings it works.
On the SMTP Connection Manager I have left the default name, tested with both an IP address and Server Name, and no authentication or SSL.
On the Send Mail Task, it uses the above connection. The To: , From: , Subject fields are populated. Message SourceType is DirectInput, MessageSource is Test, Priority is Normal and no attachments or expressions etc.
Nothing useful is logged in the Event Viewer even with full logging turned on.
Any suggestions appreciated,

A - the exchange server address (SOMETHING.us.company.com)
B - The SMTP properties I see when I look at the properties of my email address: (my.name@abcd.efgh.company.com)
C - Just the end portion of the SMTP properties: (abcd.efgh.company.com)
D - My email address (my.name@company.com)
I don't know what to enter, or what is giving me such a generic error message.

Nov 10, 2006I know you can specify additional recipients in the To column by sepperating them with a semicolon. But whats the easiest way to send to several users, when the email address must be retrieved from a table with a query like this:

So when the eventhandler gets an OnError i want the mail task to be sent to each problemsubscriber.

While testing I have observed that some of mails are not getting triggered.
Log file shows following message-

Now I have to attach this report using send mail task and send it to given mail id. To achieve this I have configured the send mail task and in Expression Builder, I have selected the below expression:
