Hi, Let me start by saying that both of the servers in question are in an academic environment where optimal security isn’t the greatest concern. The first server is running Server 2003 and has IIS installed and SQL express.
The web website which was designed in VS 2005 (with membership settings and a SQL Express database) works fine. When the same website is served from a similar server running Server 2003 and SQL Server 2005 I get an ERROR 26.
The web server and the database server are on the same box.
Does SQL Server 2005 have to be set up to serve a SQL server express database? Thanks, Jeff
I'm currently receiving the following error message whilst attempting to install SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition on Windows Server 2003 (32 Bit): Error 29528. The setup has encountered an unexpected error while Installing performance counters. The error is: The system cannot find the file specified.
This server already has an install of SQL Server 2000 as the default instance. I'm attempting to install a new named instance of SQL Server 2005.

You can ignore this and it will complete the installation, but subsequently trying to patch with SP2 will fail on the same sections - Hotfix.exe crashes whilst attempting to patch Database Services, Integration Services and Client Components (3 separate crashes).
I've removed SQL Server 2005 elements and tried to re-install, but it's not improved the situation.
I've installed SQL2005 on a server already running SQL2K on my laptop. SQL2K is the default instance, so I'm trying to connect to SQL2005 using MYSERVERSQL2005 as the instance.
The steps that I've taken are to apply SP2 and enable remote connections (TCP & Named pipes). I've also made sure the SQL Server Browser service is running and enabled.
The error message that I get via SQL2005 client tools is "An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: -1)"
I dont understand as to why i am unable to connect to 2005.
Hi,I need some help. I am getting this error after I complete the asp.net register control and click on the continue button. It crashed when it tries to get it calls this Profile property((string)(this.GetPropertyValue("Address1")));When I look at the stack, it is coming from my ProfileWrapper class which adds user address, city, etc.. from a class which inherits fromSystem.Web.Profile.ProfileBase. From the stack, it is calling the System.Web.Profile and crashed when it tries to open a connection atSystem.Data.ProviderBase.DbConnectionPool.GetConnection(DbConnection owningObject). I already migrated all aspnet_user, aspnet_roles, etc.. and don't get any connection errors. It is only when I try to get the profile data. This works on my pc, but throws an error on my lunarpage website.Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks,AJAn error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. Just installed SQL Server 2005 and tested my old VS 2005 ASPnet websites, which were connected toSQL Server 2000 databases before. All my websites were created for local HTTP applications, coded with a connection string with User ID and Password. The SQL Server 2000 was configured as mixed authentication (i.e. with User ID and Password). These websites worked very well with SQL Server 2000 database server.Testing my old VS 2005 websites with SQL Server 2005 database, showed a 'Login failed for a User ''.' error msgalthough the 'Test Connection' on VS 2005 design showed a perfect query for e.g. a GridView control. I have assured that the UserID/Password were correct for Management Studio Security object'slogin and Database Security's user. The server instance was configured with mixed authentication mode. One thing I am not sure of is, when clicking the Management Studio icon, a Connection dialog showed up, asking for a Windows or MIxed authentication? I just stayed with the Windows authentication. What does the authenticationmode have anything to do with the VS 2005 website connection? Should I change to mixed authetnication mode?TIA,Jeffrey
I am attempting to install SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition onto a Windows XP Pro SP2 machine, but unfortunately each time that I attempt to install I receive an error message in the summary log as follows:
Product : Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Product Version: 9.00.1399.06 Install : Failed Log File : C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90Setup Last Action : InstallFinalize Error String : The setup has encountered an unexpected error while Updating Installed Files. The error is : Fatal error during installation. Error Number : 29528
There is probably a simple solution for the issue but unfortunately I am unaware of what it is? I can€™t tell if the issue is specific to registry settings, security, file types, etc€¦ The information below surrounds the error w/in the log, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated?

I have a SProc that runs across many clients without any problems. Every now and then, though, I get the following error:
Internal Query Processor Error: The query processor encountered an unexpected error during execution. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 8630).
All I am doing is populating Temp tables with some data and then joining them together to create a Global Temp table that is being BCP'd to a network share.
Has anyone come across this error in SQL Server 2005? I cannot find anything on Google or Microcsoft.
Hi,My SQL Server 2005 won't start - can anyone provide some help? Hi. I've been trying to install Sql Server 2005 express on Vista Home Premium. After the initial files install, I get an error message that says the WMI configuration is not correct. (I'm not at home, so I can't post the exact error code at the moment). Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this? Thanks in advance.
I've recently migrated all databases to SQL Server 2005. I couldn'tfigure out how to create an SSIS package in the time I had, so I juststuck with the DTS packages. They all worked fine during testing, butonce we renamed the server we had problems. The DTS packages stillwork, but whenever I click into the Copy SQL Server Object and try toSelect Objects (on the Copy tab) I get this error:Microsoft SQL-DMOError 21776: General ErrorI click OK and get the error again and again for a total of 12 times(regardless of which database I'm connecting to in the packages, soit's not related to the number of objects in the database). Then theSelect Objects screen appears and it's business as usual.Has anyone else come across this problem and found a solution? I'verenamed the server using sp_dropserver and sp_addserver and select@@servername returns the correct valueJohn Hunter
Que tal. Al iniciar el instalador SQL Server 2005 Express me saca el error "System Configuration Checker cannot be executed due to WMI configuration on te machine..." Si alguien sabe como solucionarlo agradeceria se ayuda. Gracias.
We have several large government web sites that we help look after. We recently migrated one of them from SQL Server 2000 to 2005 and are having a problem with our nightly email job in that if it runs for more than an hour then after exactly 1 hour the email job gets a "Timeout expired" message back from SQL Server.
Our batch jobs do run on a different server and connect remotely to our SQL Server DB. I did change the connections - remote query timeout and increased it 10 fold, but this didn't make any difference. Is there any other parameter that may be causing the Timeout expired error after exactly 1 hour?

My site works fine in VWD2008 express, but I get this error when I try to use it on my live website. An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. According to this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914277 I am supposed to:
1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft SQL Server 2005, point to Configuration Tools, and then click SQL Server Surface Area Configuration. Ok, there is no such program in this folder. The only thing in there is "SQL Server Error and Usage Reporting"... The other thing I am greatly concerned with is this: All is want is for my webpages to be able to access my database for user authentication. I DO NOT want to grant the internet rights to remote connect to my database.
I get the following error and have been trying to figure out why I keep getting it. Initially, I had placed my project under wwwroot folder and ran it under IIS and it gave this error. Then I moved it to my local C drive and same thing. I am sharing this project with two other co-workers and all our config files and code files are same...they don't get this error but I do. I checked that SQL Server Client Network Utility has TCP/IP and the 'Named Pipes' enabled. I thought maybe I have setting in the Visual Studio 2005 that I'm not aware of that's causing this problem...it can't be the server since my co-workers aren't having this error and can't be anything in the code since all of us are sharing this project through vss. I dont' think using different version of .net framework can create this error. I changed the version from 2.0 to use 1.1x and it gave same error... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Is it possible to install SQL Server 2005 Eval on a Virtual PC 2007 client running Server 2008 Beta? Nothing says it isn't possible, it says I need to service pack it right away, but before it gets started it comes up with the error 'sqlcu.dll failed to load'. Anyone know what this is all about?
We've devoted a resource to this today, but I have to believe it's something easy that we're overlooking. The scneario is that we have a production Web application that until last weekend had a SQL 2000 back end. This weekend we installed a new instance of SQL 2005 and everything works (we tested in a sandbox environment, but someone must not have load tested enough) and never saw these exceptions. So, after the upgrade we now receive 100's of thexe SQL excptions per day:A transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.)A transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - The specified network name is no longer available.)Does anyone know what we've overlooked that's causing this issue? Thanks for any help!
I've serached this forum and Google'd for a resolution to this issue, to no avail. Here's the scenario: I'm running VS 2005 on Windows Media Center laptop and need to create ASP.net membership for my web application built using VB. I have SQL Server Developer installed with instance name MSSQLSERVER. Previously, I uninstalled SQL Express and installed Developer edition and can now open and utilize Management Studio.
Now, when I try to create a new SQL Server database in my solution's App_Data directory, I receive the above error. I already changed instance name in VS2005 per Tools-Options-Database Tools-Data Connections to MSSQLSERVER.
Could someone provide me with a list of procedures to ensure proper setup of VS2005 with SQL Server Developer Edition?

I have a development and a production SQL server instance environment set up on 2 independent machines. Each machine is running Windows 2003 for an OS, while each server instance is version SQL Server 2005. On friday, I experienced difficulties querying one environment from the other through linked servers. I would get the error below: .
Cannot obtain the schema rowset "DBSCHEMA_TABLES_INFO" for OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "dev_server". The provider supports the interface, but returns a failure code when it is used
The linked servers had been previously set up and had been running without any issues. Dropping and recreating the linked servers did not help at all, and all attempts to google the error led to accounts of either SQL Server 2005-SQL Server 2000 procedures compatibility or 64 bit - 32 bit compatibily related errors. Neither of the two were relevant as both my environment have the same technology, both hardware and software.
Mysteriously, the linked server worked this morning without any issue at all. One co-worker suggests gremlins are at work, while another figures that my set up had 'checked out for the long weekend'. Unfortunately, neither explanation is plausible, so my quest to find out what could have gone wrong, and hopefully put preventitive measures in place for the future goes on. Does anybody have any idea what the issue could have been?
We just upgraded to SQL Server 2005 from SQL Server 2000. The DB was backed up using Enterprise Manager and restored with SQL Server Management Studio Express CTP. Everything went as expected (no errors, warnings, or any other indicator of problems).
The DB resides in a DB Server (Server1) and the application we are running is a Client/Server system where the AppServer resides on Server2.
During the application's operation all read, create, and delete transactions work fine but no update works. When viewing details in Trace Log I see this message after attempting any update:
Could not find server 'Server1' in sysservers. Execute sp_addlinkedserver to add the server to sysservers. (7202)
I have installed sql server 2005 Express with SQLADV.exe. But when I open Management Studio Express it has error:
Can not connect to server
An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error locating Server/Instance Specified).I searched on google but did not find any solution. Anyone know about that, please help me.
Why would I get an SQL Server 2005 Error on a page when I'm not even trying to connect to an SQL database anywhere in my code? I'm using Visual Web Developer 2005 Express. I have no App_Data folder, nor do I need one because I'm not using a database.Error:An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. SQLExpress database file auto-creation error: The connection string specifies a local Sql Server Express instance using a database location within the applications App_Data directory. The provider attempted to automatically create the application services database because the provider determined that the database does not exist. The following configuration requirements are necessary to successfully check for existence of the application services database and automatically create the application services database: If the applications App_Data directory does not already exist, the web server account must have read and write access to the applications directory. This is necessary because the web server account will automatically create the App_Data directory if it does not already exist. If the applications App_Data directory already exists, the web server account only requires read and write access to the applications App_Data directory. This is necessary because the web server account will attempt to verify that the Sql Server Express database already exists within the applications App_Data directory. Revoking read access on the App_Data directory from the web server account will prevent the provider from correctly determining if the Sql Server Express database already exists. This will cause an error when the provider attempts to create a duplicate of an already existing database. Write access is required because the web server accounts credentials are used when creating the new database. Sql Server Express must be installed on the machine. The process identity for the web server account must have a local user profile. See the readme document for details on how to create a local user profile for both machine and domain accounts.
hello everyone,i meet a problem with sqlserver. i have a hp rx6600 server running windows 2003 sp2 for ia + sqlserver 2005 stardard edition for ia ,and i use sa user to login the server. recently, when the server works for two or three days, the client can't login the sqlserver ,and a reboot will resolve the problem, but after the same time ,the problem occers again. i check the error log in my server which is: SSPI handshake failed with error code 0x8009030c while establishing a connection with integrated security; the connection has been closed. I have a problem that about the Replication of the SQL SERVER 2005. If there are a hundred data in the delivery of replication ,but after they transmited fifty data ,the internet is disconnection.
The question is how about the rest of the undelivered data and the delivered data. Do the delivery data will be rollback? If it dosen't be rollback how dose the administrator of the database know the error of the replication of the data, the most important is how to know the data has not complete delivery. If it will be rollback and how do we check the error of the internet at immediately..
