SQL Server 2005 Express Error. URGENT HELP NEEDED!

Jun 5, 2006

I get the following error when I try to access the database from my web application

Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to a failure in starting the process for the user instance. The connection will be closed.

The application works when I run it on my local machine, but when I move the application to a remote server, I get the above error.

Below is the connection string section in my web.config file.

 <connectionStrings>
  <remove name="LocalSqlServer"/>
  <add name="LocalSqlServer"
       connectionString="Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|CiaaASPNETDB.MDF;user instance=true;Integrated Security=True;Initial Catalog=CiaaASPNETDB;Integrated Security=True;user instance=true;Connection Timeout = 0"
      providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/>
  <!--Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|CiaaASPNETDB.MDF;user instance=true;Integrated Security=True;Initial Catalog=CiaaASPNETDB -->
 </connectionStrings>

Can anyone help me with this.

May 14, 2006

Hi every one
I am new meber of this community with an urgent new problem with SQL server DTS process:) pls HELP!
PROCESS DETAILS:

My data base(db) is on main frame(flat file with hierarchical db format) I used vb script to get that db and split it in to three files so processing is easy after this I use dts PROCESS WITH EXECUTE SQL TASK in combination of some bulk insert scripts to pick these files from server directory and import it in to sql server tables. I know I could have use bulk insert task in dts but my formate file was giving me a problem while I try to develop it through that process so I ended up using tsql bulk insert statment with formate file in the EXECUTE SQL TASK .

PROBLEM :
My problem is I have to manually activate VB script where as I want this to be part of my DTS packet so it can be automated.

I know there is Active x scripting task in DTS but have not used it can some one please tell me if this script can be put in to Active X scripting task with or with out any modifications and also what are the modifications I need to do so it can run before other DTS task (which picks the file and insert it in three different tables after format file application.

Help Needed ! , Data Migration From MS Access2003 To SQL Express 2005

Dec 27, 2006

Hi ,

I have a requirement to migrate the data from an existing MS Access database to a newly designed SQL Express 2005 database . Need less to say the table structures in both are totally different.I would like to know how can i handle a scenerio where i want to map table A in access to table B in SQL express (the schema of both different and the number of columns can vary too) , how do i migrate the data from table A in Access to Table B in SQL express using SSMA?

Also i would appreciate if some one can tell me is SSMA the right tool for this , or should i use the upsizing wizard of MS Access.If there is no change in schema between source and destination databases (more of upsizing) then the process is pretty straight forward , The constraint here is that the data needs to be migrated to a new schema where the column names and number of columns can vary between the source table and destination table.. I just need to migrate data only and no other objects.

Need Help!

Thanks

Mahesh

How To Apply SQL Server 2005 Express SP1 To The Version Of SQL Server 2005 Express Which Installs With Visual Studio 2005?

Aug 8, 2006

When I installed VS 2005, it installed the default version of SQL Server 2005 Express that ships with Visual Studio 2005 installer media.

How can apply SQL Server 2005 Express SP1 to update this existing instance?

Currently, if I run this query:

SELECT @@version

I get the following:

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.1399.06 (Intel X86) Oct 14 2005 00:33:37 Copyright (c) 1988-2005 Microsoft Corporation Express Edition on Windows NT 5.1 (Build 2600: Service Pack 2)

After applying SP1, I should get 9.00.2047.00.

Should I just go to this link and download & install the SQL Server 2005 Express Edition SP1:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/sql/download/

Thank you,

Bashman

Hi guys, I have just set up a database in SQL 2005 Express Edition. However, I have a problem accessing it with the application program created in VB 2005 EE. Before using SQL 2005, the application worked perfectly in SQL 2000.
Here is my connection string used in SQL 2000:

Dim sqlConn As New SqlConnection("Data Source=(local); Database='Inventory List'; Integrated Security=yes")

Is this valid in SQL 2005 Express Edition? Or should I change the connection string instead? Thank you very much.

Error During SQL Server 2005 Express Help...

Feb 16, 2007

The "Setup Progress" window displays the selected components to be configured.

After completion, the window displays a red x beside Reporting Services.

On all the other results, you can click and view a log generated during installation.

Clicking on the "Reporting Services" (that didn't install) does not display the log file.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

SQL Server Express 2005 Datename Error?

Oct 11, 2007

I was trying to return the month name in a query but didn't get the results that I expected. To demonstrate, I wrote this query:

SELECT GETDATE(), DATENAME(DAY,DAY(GETDATE()))

SELECT GETDATE(), DATENAME(MONTH, MONTH(GETDATE()))

and got this result:

----------------------- ------------------------------

2007-10-11 14:54:29.147 12

(1 row(s) affected)

----------------------- ------------------------------

2007-10-11 14:54:29.147 January

(1 row(s) affected)

Am I doing something wrong or is SQL Server doing something odd? I need to find a fix for this pretty quickly and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Error Installing SQL Server Express 2005

Dec 19, 2007

I've been trying to install SQL Server Express 2005 on my machine at home (XP Pro). However, when I get done, I get the following error when I restart my computer (at the login screen): "Your SQL Server installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with (Error getting instance ID from name.). Please uninstall the re-run setup to correct this problem."

I have uninstalled and reinstalled a number of times, with always thesame result. I had Visual Studio Orcas Beta 2 installed, so I thought that might have had something to do with it. I uninstalled everything development related on the machine (including all versions of the .NET Framework), and am still getting the same error. I tried installing along with Visual Studio 2005 (since it can be installed through the VS installer), same error.

I haven't been able to find any helpful information on this error. It seems everyone else is seeing it when they try to open Management Studio or some other program, but I am seeing it on system start.

Anyone have any thoughts? I'd really like to get this working.
Thanks.
