Reports Page Not Displaying Properly.
Mar 15, 2007I've installed Report Server 2005 Express on my XP Pro workstation. When I try to pring up the reports page (http://localhost/Reports) all I get is the following:

I am new to dot not. I'm using vbdot net 2003 with crystal reports that bundled with vs2003 for creating catalogues for our company. We have furniture pictures in access db. In design time I have added picture field to the crystal reports and ticked the cangrow property so the picture can fit into its true aspect ratio. but some pictures grow into full page of the report. unticking 'cangrow' property also makes trouble as the picture does't streches well. I want 6 pictures to appear in each page by 2 column wise(how to add 2 columns in a report?). We want to automate printing catalogues of chosen furnitures by our customers. I'm struck with this problem for past few days.
can anyone help with sample code please?

Reports Containing Drill Through Interactive Bar Charts Not Working Properly When Deployed

Drill through bar charts work great in the report designer preview, but as soon as I deploy the report, and view the report in a webpage, drill through does not work smoothly.
I have to move the mouse around to be able to find a place on the bar to click through to the next report. Sometimes, I am able to click on the bar to go to next report, but then sometimes I have to click on the label, and other times somewhere in the vicinity of the label.
Any help will be much appreciated.

SQL Server 2005 Order By Date Does Not Sort Properly
Feb 1, 2007I am using Access 2003 as a front-end to a SQL Server 2005 database.I make design changes using SQL Server Management Studio. I have atable that includes a datetime column. I create a view and sort bythe datetime field. When I initially look at the result it is sortedcorrectly. Then I save the view and re-open it and it is not sorted.I've simplified the view so it only contains the date field and itstill does not sort. I have two SQL Server instances installed.
1- UserLT (this is sql 2000)2- UserLTSQL2005 (this is SQL 2005 named instance)
But when i try to add a database to my VS website project I get the following error:

I went in Tools>Opetions>DataBase tools>Data Connection>Sql Server Instance Name (blank for default)
and changed the "SQLEXPRESS" to "USERLTSQL2005".
But I still get the same error message. Any ideas how i can resolve this issue?

I've serached this forum and Google'd for a resolution to this issue, to no avail. Here's the scenario:
I'm running VS 2005 on Windows Media Center laptop and need to create ASP.net membership for my web application built using VB. I have SQL Server Developer installed with instance name MSSQLSERVER. Previously, I uninstalled SQL Express and installed Developer edition and can now open and utilize Management Studio.
Now, when I try to create a new SQL Server database in my solution's App_Data directory, I receive the above error. I already changed instance name in VS2005 per Tools-Options-Database Tools-Data Connections to MSSQLSERVER.
Could someone provide me with a list of procedures to ensure proper setup of VS2005 with SQL Server Developer Edition?

How To Shutdown SQL 2005 Express Properly
Oct 21, 2007While working on my Visual C# 2005 Express programs, I will sometimes open SQL 2005 Express to look at the database. Then I will disconnect the database and exit the SQL Server Management Studio Express.
Then when I run my Visual C# 2005 program the next time, I will always get this error message.
"Cannot open user default database. Login failed...."
Here is a copy of my connection string

One User Unable To Access The Reports From SQL Server 2005 Reporting Server.
Jul 6, 2007I have deployed some reports on the reporting server, i have noticed that every one in the domain in which the reports are published can access the reports, except one user. when he tries to access the report he got the following error message or the blank report.
"An error occured during report processing"
"can no read the next data row for the data set dataset1".
Although this user has all the roles on the reporiting server kike browser,content manager etc.
i tried many things but still problem persists.
Can anyone tell me the exact reason for this ?
I shall be extremely thankfull.

I had a report (.rdl) using sql reporting services in sql server 2005, where it was running quite good.
I have just installed sql server 2005 sp2. After that, when I run the report through report viewer, the result of the report contains the first record of the dataset keep on repeating for all other records. If I run the dataset the results are correct,but if I preview it, then the first record alone repeating for all other records.
I feel that sp2 might cause this rendering problem. Any suggestion please?

I had a report that exported to PDF just fine before installing SP2 and now it is completely messed up. The report consists of a table that has two header rows (the report is basically a calendar). First Header Row is Month - merged across all 7 columns, Second header row is day of week. The next row is a row containing the date and finally the last row contains the actual data that is populated into each day. It is a sub-report in each cell of the row. It used to export fine but after applying SP2 it exports to pdf like this:
1st page is the first header row (Month) - Nothing else on the page
2nd page is the 2nd header row (Day of Week) - Nothing else on this page.
3rd page is the 1st row of actual dates - Nothing else on the page.
4th page is the data that goes to that 1st row of dates on the 3rd page, this page all all following pages are fine and show the row with the date directly above the data row with no page breaks in-between.
There is nothing in any of the controls forcing a page break (remember, it worked fine up until SP2 was applied).
What did the SP break? I am unable to modify my report now so that it exports to PDF correctly. What the heck???

Could some one help me with the below issue:
I have set up our webserver along with the database in one machine, (machine1) and the SQL 2005 Reporting server in another (machine2). When a page hosted in machine1 is accessed:
1. The page uses a reportviewer control to fetch and show the report.
2. The reports are fetched from machine2.
3. machine2 inturn fetches the data from DB setup in machine1, populates the report and sends it back to the report viewer in machine1.
The problem I am facing is that whenever a report related page is accessed from machine1 it comes up with the below error:
"The permissions granted to user 'machine1IUSR_machine1' are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied)

Jan 8, 2007I have built the reports that I need using Visual Studio and the SQL 2005 Reporting Server, but now I need a way to view the reports via a web browser.
I am not much of a web/programming expert, so any help that could walk me through the process of publishing the .rdl files that I have created via a web browser would be much, much appreciated. Again, I am a novice in the the web arena, so the more straight forward the steps the better.

Login Failure Issue With Crystal Reports Connecting To SQL Server 2005

My application uses "crystal reports" control to integrate some reports that can be viewed from within the application.
I'm getting a login failed (due to bad password SQL State 8) error when I bring up the report from within the application. The report runs fine outside the application with the same username password.
- I've checked several times to make sure that I'm passing the correct username/password from the application.
- All letters in the password are lower case. There is not case-sensitive issue.
- I printed the username and password on a pop-up to see what values are passed , and they are correct.
- A single test page that uses the same version of "Crystal Reports" control , using the same username/password, brings up the same report works fine.
I guess , my question is:
Is there a way to trace the login failure event on the SQL Server side to see what is the value of the password that is being sent by crystal reports control?
I'm using Crystal Reports XI with sp2.
SQL Server 2005.

SQL Server Is Not Working Properly
Apr 21, 2008Hello friends, I have developed an ASP.NET 2.0 application. The problem is that the IIS server returns the next error:
SQL Server does not allow remote connections
Sometimes returns:
SQL Server does not exists.
My question is if there is any known bug with ASP.NET and SQL Server. My sql server have activated the Remote Connections (its working properly on other web page).
Its a problem of the number of connections??
Its a problem ofbad configuration??
Its a IIS problem??
Please bring me some help.
SQL Server Agent Not Starting Properly

Running SQL 7.0 on NT4.
When server boots the SQL Server Agent appears to start normally. NT Service starts, Event Viewer shows service is started, Service Control Manager shows service started.
However when I try to view a job or create a lob I get the following error:
Error 14258: Cannot perform this operation while SQLServerAgent is starting. Please try again later.
Has anyone seen this behaviour before??

SQL Server WILL NOT Import Properly From Excel!!
Aug 3, 2004ARRGGH, I'm going to kill Excel or SQL Server!! I've spent an hour on this and I can't get it working. I'm importing some address data, and several of the zip codes are importing as NULL, even though in the Excel sheet, they look fine! Excel is complaining, something about the zip codes are numbers entered as text..whatever.. so I edited my SQL import and made it so the ZIP field gets created as varchar 50 instead of float. It still won't import right.
Someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong.

I want to access another database seating on another server so I configured the Linked server with SQL Server as the server type. I set the security as NT_AUTHORITYSYSTEM and checked the Impersonate. In Server Options, I set the RPC Out to true then I clicked ok.
I got this error:
An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo)
The OLE DB Provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "server1" reported an error. Authentication failed.
Cannot initialize the datasource object of OLE DB Provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "server1".
OLE DB Provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "server1" returned message "Invalid authorization specification". (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 7399)
Note that my NT login is added as "Administrators" on the Server i want to connect to.
Have I missed anything?

SQL Server Admin 2014 :: Ensuring Upgrade Advisor Is Running Properly?
Oct 30, 2015I have a SQL Server 2008 instance that is running on "LiveServer" our production database (ProdDB) - and we need to upgrade to 2014. In order to do some upgrade testing, I spun up a VM with the same version of SQL server on the test VM (TestServer), did a backup of the production DB from the live server, and restored it to TestServer under a different name (ProdDBUA).
I then installed SQL2014 Upgrade advisor onto TestServer, and ran it, checking all the boxes (reporting services etc..) and it all came back clean - no issues whatsoever - not a single warning even. I'm under the impression that stored procs/functions etc... all reside within the DB, so a backup will include those. Is that correct?
The problem is, I know I have stored Procs, functions and views that use deprecated joins in that LiveServer.ProdDB. What do I need to do/configure/check in order to make sure that the Upgrade Advisor is actually checking through all that T-SQL that has deprecated code? I want to have a list to give to my report writers of procs/functions/views that need to be rewritten prior to the upgrade going live.
If there is a modification that needs to be run on the TestServer.ProdDBUA, a cursor to change the path etc. DB is running in Compatibility mode 90.

i have recently started to work with the analysis services and i am having some problems.
i have made a web application that for now just tries to connect to an analysis server.
The server is installed on an xp sp 2 system.
for testing, i used my local computer, which is running also win xp sp2. After deploying, the application can connect to the AS server on the other machine. the problem occurs when i try to deploy the applicatuion on the production server, which is running win 2k3 server on 32 bit. When deploying, i use the same connection string, so it should try to connect to the AS server installed on a win xp sp2 system.
The first thing that came to my mind was to check the MDAC versions, be cause of the message: "Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed."
on my computer, where the application worked ok, the version is MDAC 2.8 SP 1 Windows XP SP 2
on the win2k3 server, the MDAC version is : MDAC 2.8 SP2.... i thought it was the version of the service pack, so o searched for the update of MDAC 2.8 SP1, trying to install mdac 2.8 sp2 to see if i was to see the same error, but i found that mdac 2.8 sp2 is only for win2k3 server, and for win xp is mdac 2.8 sp1, according to this link: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/884103
Now i got confused and have no clues how to make this work...
Can anybody give any hint?
