SQL Server 2008 :: Creation Of Random Password Which Is Easy To Remember
Jun 2, 2015
I have written a script to GENERATE Random Password. But I want to modify that to a some kind of password which is little easy to remember!
I have seen some of the online sites where they generate passwords which are easy to remember and having some way to remember them,
my script:-
declare @db_pswd nvarchar(4000);
declare @len1 int = 16,
@min tinyint = 40,
@range tinyint = 74,
@exclude varchar(50) = '11cdtyuXR#0:;<=>?@O[]`^/abfty#$%^&1234567890*',
@output varchar(500)
[Code] .....

On the login prompt for Report Server, there is a checkbox option to "Remember my Password." I check this, login successfully... but when returning to the Report Server, I am again prompted for the password, although the user name is saved. No matter how many times I do this, the password will not save in IE7. I have tried this on 3 different computers with IE7. In IE 6, I do not even get the checkbox as an option, just the user name/password prompt. In Firefox, the password saves fine. Any ideas what would be causing this?
Thanks,
Brian

I have a DB using random GUID values as a PK. I know it should not be that way but it is third party and I am trying to persuade them to do something else, like a sequential GUID using NEWSEQUENTIALID. My question is this. Since I have GUID values already in the database, if we change the table definition from simply uniquidentifier to NEWSEQUENTIALID what is to keep NEWSEQUENTIALID from generating a GUID that already exists and creating a PK violation?

We have a SQL Server 2008R2 system that has heavy usage to one specific table. I have tuned basically all I can as far as making sure SQL Statements are using good indexes. From time to time a group of folks will log into Mgt Studio and run SQL Statements like this, leave the query open and once in a while it will cause blocking to other SQL running our online system
The query is like this: select ID,* from tablename with (nolock) where ID like 'MSPRYy%'
The results come back within less than 1 second. However, they leave this window open which is what causes this to be a HEAD BLOCKER and blocks other SQL Statements from running.

Both the OLE DB Connection and ADO.Net Connection in SSIS Package does not remember password.
Im connecting to a SQL Server 2000 box using its sa password as test.
The SSIS package runs fine when you first set up the connection in bids
The bottom line is that SSIS keeps forgetting the password I feed into
the two Connections that I'm using. I double-click a connection,
type the password in, check "Save my password" and hit "OK" but the
password disappears from there whenever I run the package or
double-click the connection again.
is there any known workaround for this issue as I would like to schedule my SSIS package using a SSIS Step in a SQL Server 2005 Agent job.
the only thing I found when googling this error was link below but the workaround described here is a little harsh

thanks in advance

the box SSIS is running on is Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition latest service pack

While trying to solve a SQL challenge I found myself trying to understand what is happening when you CAST a INT to date time.
Trying to understand the results. Here are some random numbers and Castings. My question is why do they produce the datetimes they do?
SELECT CAST((1.1) AS DATETIME)
SELECT CAST((200) AS DATETIME)
SELECT CAST((15) AS DATETIME)
SELECT CAST((99.99999) AS DATETIME)

Is there an easy way to compare the contents of objects between 2 different databases? For example, say I had 2 databases, My_DB_1 and My_DB_2, each with a SEC_User table. Say I wanted to do an object-to-object comparison between databases to see if there were any differences. Here's some sample SQL:
use My_DB_1
select * from sys.dm_sql_referencing_entities('dbo.sec_user', 'object')
use My_DB_2
select * from sys.dm_sql_referencing_entities('dbo.sec_user', 'object')
Say that the result sets above both returned a SEC_GetUser sproc object ref. Is there a way to write SQL that will compare the SEC_GetUser sprocs (and other objects in the above rowsets) from both databases? For example, if My_DB_1.SEC_GetUser returns an extra column in the result set than My_DB_2.SEC_GetUser then I'd like my comparison SQL to return a single column "IsDifferent" with SEC_GetUser as a row....

SELECT

<Veri xmlns="">

I dont want to see 'xmlns' in 'Veri' tag. When I use xmlna or another word instead of 'xmlns' the result is below:
<Form xmlns="http://tempuri.org/Form.xsd" xmlna:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">

Creating of new partitions should be automated, and also we dont have any plans of archiving old data, all we want is that new partition creation should be automated.

A recent SharePoint upgrade has rendered several views obsolete. I am redefining them so that our upper level executive reports show valid data.(yes, I know that doing anything to sharepoint could cause MS to deny support, having said that, this is something I've inherited and need to fix, pronto) The old view was created like so:
USE [AHMC]
GO
/****** Object: View [dbo].[vwSurgicalVolumes] Script Date: 09/04/2015 09:28:03 ******/
SET ANSI_NULLS ON
GO
SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
GO
CREATE VIEW [dbo].[vwSurgicalVolumes] AS
SELECT
[code]....
As I said, this view is used in a report showing surgical minutes.SharePoint is now on a new server, which is linked differently (distributed?) I've used OPENQUERY to get my 'new' query to work;
SELECT *
FROM OPENQUERY ([PORTALWEBDB], 'SELECT
--AllLists
AL.tp_ID AS ALtpID
,AL.tp_WebID as altpwebid
,AL.tp_Title AS ALTitle
[code]....
My data (ie surgical minutes, etc) seems to be in the XML column, AUD.tp_ColumnSet . So I need to parse it out and convert it to INT to maintain consistency with the previous view. How do I do this within the context of the view definition?Here is a representation of the new and old view data copied to excel :
<datetime1>2014-08-14T04:00:00</datetime1><float1>2.000000000000000e+000</float1><float2>4.190000000000000e+002</float2><float3>1.600000000000000e+001</float3><float4>8.110000000000000e+002</float4><sql_variant1 xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:sqltypes="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2004/sqltypes"
[Code] ....
can't format it to make it look decent. InHouseCases =2, InHouseMinutes=419, OutPatientCases =16, OutPatientMinutes=1230. This corresponds to the new data I can see in the XML column; 2.000000000000000e+000 is indeed 2 and 4.190000000000000e_002 is indeed 419.

We have a situation where SSRS reports are using Testuser account to run the SSRS reports for every user who has access to these reports.Now developers need the password for this login Testuser to proceed with their ssrs reports development, but its sort of mess that no one has password ever saved.So in case is there a way it can be retrieved or what should be an alternative if password cannot be retrieved for that login, as i believe changing the password will break the reports using the current password?

I mean, I'd like something to tell SQL that if itextracts some questions, then it SHOULD NOT extract other ones.How can I do it?Thanks!Luke

I have a package protected by a password - I am already unhappy that to get it to use the configuration file to change connection strings for the production servers I have had to hardcode the password into the config file - very insecure!
However, the package now deploys correctly to the production server and will run from there OK, but NOT if scheduled as a SQL Server Agent Job. Thus is because however often I edit the command line to include the password after the DECRYPT switch (which it has prompted me for when I click on the command line tab), the Job Step will not retain it.
If I open it up after I have edited it and closed it, the password has disappeared.
I know that if I run dtexec plus the code in the Command Line tab (with the password), the package runs OK.
This is driving me insane!
I have read all the other posts and so I tried replacing the SSIS package step with a CmdExec step and pasting that code into there - then I get an OLEDB error..
The code I use is:
DTEXEC /SQL "ImportRateMonitoringTables" /SERVER servername /DECRYPT password /CONFIGFILE "D:Microsoft SQL ServerSSISDeploymentsRateMonitoringImportTasksDeploymentImportRateMonitoringTables_Production.dtsConfig" /MAXCONCURRENT " -1 " /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING E
and I get
SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x8000FFFF
although the same code executes perfectly from a command prompt.
Please does anyone have any experience with a similar problem and if so, how did you get round it?
Thank you

Hi,Can you guys see if there's a solution to this problem?I have a database from which I have to read each record and processthat record. New records are being added all the time, so I need to goback and check for new records and process them.However:-- there is no 'identity' column in the database design (so I cannotkeep track of the last record read by use of a numeric variable)-- I am not allowed to update the database (so I cannot flag therecords I have read).My problem is: how can I know which records I have already read andwhich ones I haven't read yet? I don't want to process records twiceand don't want to miss any records.Is there a known solution to this problem? Any ideas?Thanks.

Hello,
A while ago I installed SQL CE on my decive. Unfortunately, it crapped out at one point so I'm reinstalling what needs to be put back on. I'm pretty sure I just used the CAB files to do this (but I might be mistaken). In any case, I remember there being an application that allowed me to do queries, browse data, etc. on my device's databases... I'm pretty sure it was just something included with SQL CE.
I already have the CF installed. I have all of the SQL CE CABs installed as well (I think)... but for some reason I simply cannot remember what CAB or other installation that would contain the browser, query creation thing, and so on...
Anyone have any idea what I'm rambling on about? Thanks!

I have an internal Project Management and Scheduling app that I wrote internally for my company. It was written to use MySQL running on a Debian server, but I am going to move it to SQL Server 2000 and integrate it with our Accounting software. The part I am having trouble with is the user login portion. I previously used this:
PHP Code:
$sql = "SELECT * FROM users WHERE username = "$username" AND user_password = password("$password")";
Apparently the password() function is not available when accessing SQL Server via ODBC. Is there an equivalent function I could use isntead so the passwords arent plaintext in the database? I only have 15 people using the system so a blank pwd reset wouldn't be too much trouble.

This Q is so easy I can't find the answer anywhere!
Why is SQL Server called 'Server' ? I understand it is a lot more capable and robust than Access but where does 'server' come into it.
I currently use ASP and Access for dynamic websites but it is time to move up a notch.
Do I just buy SQL Server, make a database, upload it to the same place as before and hey presto?
can I run lots of websites (on different domains and servers) from databases created with my single license standard edition?
Thanks

Hi all,
I have been using SQL Server 2K for a couple of months now and I have been entering data into my tables through Enterprise Manager. I do this by selecting the table, right-clicking on it, and selecting Return All Rows.
After months of use, this method of entering data has become tedious and cumbersome. Is there an easier way to enter data into SQL Server? I don't know how to program Visual Basic, but I know how to create dynamic websites.
Microsoft Access offers the ability to make Forms, so that data entry is easier. Can SQL Server offer anything similar? Maybe SQL Server 2005 offers a GUI for data entry?
Cheers for your help!

See I need to randomly select a value from column pid1 in table1 then use this value to replace N in the sql statement, then have the statement run and randomly return exactly one piece of data instead.Is this possible? How can you randomly get one piece of data from joining three table without a WHERE CLAUSE.

As a part of my unpaid internship, I am creating a ASP.NET interface for a MS SQL Server 2000. The table I am having problems with has over 750,000 rows by 26 columns. There isn't a primary key. It stores a transaction dump from another primitive Database server.
Problem:
When perform a query I get one set of results. I run the same query again after a short wait and the rows returned are in a different order. The majority of the rows returned are the same ones returned in the previous query. Only, some rows may be missing and the order may change.
I really wasn't surprised by some duplicate rows. I am confused why they are showing up in a different order and the above mentioned inconsistancy in results.
I thought I was having problems with my Repeater Control; however, SQL Query Analyzer returns the same results.
Question:
What is causing the problem?
