Oct 19, 2014I have a master table and i need to import the rows into the parent and child table.
Master table name is Flatfile_Inventory
Parent Table name is INVENTORY
Child Tables name are INVENTORY_AMOUNT,INVENTORY_DETAILS,INVENTORY_VEHICLE,
Error details will be goes to LOG_INVENTORY_ERROR
I have 4 duplicate rows in the Flatfile_Inventory which i have already inserted in the Parent and child table.
Again when i run the query using stored procedure,its tells that all the 4 rows are duplicate and will move to the Log_Inventory_Error.
I need is if i have the duplicate rows in the flatfile_Inventory when i start inserting into the parent and child table the already inserted row have the unique ID i must identify it and delete that row in the both parent and chlid table.And latest row must get inserted into the Parent and child table from Flatfile_Inventory.

Some of the rows are duplicates except for the fact that they have different values for the first column alone (import id)

Is it possible to delete these kind of duplicate rows by ignoring the import id ?

I'm building a messaging functionality in to my application, I'm able to insert a message into the database and this message then appears inside the other users inbox. The issue I have it when I click on this message to view the conversation I make a call to the following sp as shown here:

The problem with this is I'm trying to connect to the user photos table to return their profile picture, but for some reason even though I have specified IsProfilePic I get all the photos returned, instead it should be two photos, one for the @UserId and the other for the @SenderId, its equivalent to me doing this:

From [User].[User_Photos]
where (UserId = 1 or UserId = 2) and IsProfilePic = 1
And this returns me the correct information.

One of the tablixes on report should display only 8 of the 10 fields and this is causing the duplicate records to show up on the tablix.I tried hide duplicates option for the entire details row and have set the scope to "Details". It did not work. I am getting the data from a stored procedure and cannot do much on that.

I built them and tested it using a test table called "testtable1". It worked fine. But when I switched over to our production table, it fails saying the table has to be decaled. What would be the difference. The production table has a "@" in front of the name, is that causing issues?

The results shown above are what I expect to see. My problem occurs when I use our application to update the same column in the same table. The vb.net application passes a Table Valued Parameter to a stored procedure which updates the table. Below is the creation script for the stored proc:

Feb 4, 2015I have these two tables Log and CategoryLog, I need to archive records older than 13 months in these two tables to two separate tables and then delete the archived records from Log and CategoryLog tables. The problem is that only 'Log' table has a date column, the other table CategoryLog does not have any date column. But the two tables are connected by a column(LogID). How to archive the data and then delete the archive data from both tables.

For some rows in the resources table I do not have all language codes present so am missing some translations for a given res_id.My question is what query can I use to determine the RESOURCE.RES_IDs for which I do not have a translation for.
For example I might have a de, en, cz translation for a phrase but not a pl phrase and I need to identofy those rows in order that I can obtain translations for the missing RESOURCE rows.

Most but not all tables have a column called "LastUpdated" containing a date/time (obviously). I'd like to be able to find all rows within a whole database (table by table) where the date/time is greater than a specified date/time.
I'm looking for a reliable query that will return all the rows in each of the tables but without me having to write hundreds of individual scripts "SELECT * FROM [dbo.xyz] WHERE LastUpdated > '2015-01-01 09:00:00:000'", or have to look through each table first to determine which of them has the LastUpdated field.

A stored procedure has new set of values for a given id. Sometimes the startime and endtime are the same, in which case I update the value of parameter. Sometimes I add a new time range (insert statement), and sometimes I delete a time range (delete statement).
I had a question on merge, with insert, delete and update and I got that resolved. However I have a different question regarding performance of the merge statement.
If my target table has hundreds of millions of records and I want to delete/update/insert a handful of records, will SQL server scan the entire target table? I can't have:
merge ( select * from tableName where id = 10 ) as target
using ...
and I can't have:
merge tableName as target
using [my query] as source on
source.id = target.id and
source.starttime = target.startime and
source.endtime = target.endtime
where target.id = 10
...
This means I cannot filter the set of rows in the target table to a handful of records where id = 10.

Feb 11, 2015I have a table 300+GB. it holds 10 years of Data. I need to delete 5 years of data and put it to another server so I can have more space.
If I delete 5 years of data, Transaction log gets so huge and size of the database even gets bigger because of the .ldf file which even gets bigger! I think I can shrink the log file and the data file. Is this the best way to do it?
