SQL Server 2008 :: Export Output Into CSV File As A Report With Column Headers?
Aug 20, 2015
I have a table which has few columns as Numeric value. I need to export the output into a csv file as a report with column headers. I have used bcp command. Here column name and Column Header name is the same. The BCP query which i have used is Below
Can the same result be achieved sending as attachment with dbmail?
EXEC msdb..sp_send_dbmail @attach_query_result_as_file = 1I don't want to have to add column names as part of the query
Change the query to return column headers in resultset SELECT 'CustID' as f1, 'name' as f2 UNION ALL SELECT CAST(CustID as Varchar(10)), name FROM tblCustand set
I have a single table that consist of 4 columns. Entity, ParamName, ParamsValue and ParamiValue. This table stores normalized Late Fee related parameters for apartments. The Entity field contains a code that identifies the apartment complex. The ParamName in a textual field that contains the name of the parameter that the other 2 fields define the value for; ParamsValue and ParamiValue. If the Late Fee parameter (as named in ParamName is something numerical then the value for that parameter can be found in ParamiValue else its in ParamsValue.
I don't know if 'Pivot' is the correct term to use for describing what I am trying to do because I've looked at the Pivot examples and I don't see how that will work for this. Using the Table and data as provided below, how would I construct a query so that I get 1 row per Entity in which the columns are the ParamsValue or ParamiValue for the ParamName listed in the column header (for the query)?
Below is the DDL to create the table and populate it.
USE [DBA_UTIL] CREATE TABLE [dbo].[PARAMEXAMPLE]( [Entity] [varchar](16) NULL,
I am creating a report in SSRS which has the following criteria:
- Row 1 (parent) is 'Product'
- Row 2 (child) is  'Feed'
- Columns are date. Â I have 5 dates showing at any one time across the top. Â The date field is set up as a parameter so depending on the date the user selects, the report will show that date on the end column and then the 4 days prior to that in the other columns. Â Â
 - Data is the number of records.
I have a sub total on the Product and the report is collapsed on Product as default.
What i'm stuck on is trying to insert a column at the very end that will show the variance between the last two dates. Â So the difference between the date the user selected (@date parameter) and the day before that.Â
I have a request to export some table data to excel and the "notes" column (varchar 255) contains multiple lines separated by CR/LF. when I export to excel, the first record with CR/LF messes up the column alignment in excel, throwing off the format from that point on. how can i export to excel so that it preserves these CR/LF. or if not, how can I remove these characters so that excel can handle it?
I am running sql script inside job.But sql is not saving the results in the file which i specified('Unable to open Step output file'). I tried same thing on different server, it works fine. Both are are 2008 R2.Is there any server level setting that i have to look at.On both servers i logged in as sal. Why is it working on server1 ,but not on server2?
I have the following code below where I need to have all of the query results output into a .csv file to use in a VBA macro. The issue I am running into is that the data is not deliminating correctly and my rows are being shifted incorrectly. Any better way of out putting the results into a .csv file with a common delimiter.
Output from query (please post in a text editor. The line starting with (only ) should be on line 1 after 20 pks and is shifted to a new line.):
557898^1^9885E25^80082^9.0 CM GLASS FIBER PADS 20PKS (only 12 pks in stock that will ship today) ^12.00000000^.00000000^18.32000000^219.84000000000^28.30000000 ^339.60000000000^9.98000000^35.2650176678445^DR9146322^0^
I have a report which runs for last 12 months data. Since this is going to be last 12 months the column headers change every month. How can we implement this with dynamic column headers in the dataset?
I want to have two lines of column headers.( with 7 columns in parent columns header)
and 7 columns in child column header.
The first column header will show a parent record.
And after the parent record i want to show the next child related horizontal column headers and will show all child record related to the above parent record.
its a one to many: 1 parent record and below all child records for that parent record.
can i use subreports controls to show all child records of the parent.
I am having a Stored Procedure Or SQL Script to be attached to Job Scheduler. When this Stored procedure executes it generates some output text. I need to store this output to text file when ever this store Procedure (or) SQL Script executed by job Scheduler.
My problem is specific to the ReportViewer control. The report displays correctly in every other way (ssrs server viewer, visual studio preview, visual studio 'Run', etc)The aspx page hosting the control has two controls, the reportviewer control (assembly 10.0.0.0), and a scriptmanager control asyncrendering = 'true' and processingmode = 'remote'.So the columns are not 'always visible' with the reportviewer but they are with every other renderer that i've tried.
The report i'm testing is just a simple table with a couple groupings (built using the wizard). To enable the fixed headers I went to the groupings view and changed the "FixedData" property of the first Static member to true per instructions.
I am asked to create 100 procedures to a database. Any best way to create them in a database one by one by calling the files and saving the execution output files in a folder?
Hi, this is probably a simple question but I just can't figure it out. I'm using SQL Server Reporting Services 2005 sp1.
I'm trying to design a report that displays a particular embedded image on the first page, and then a different one on every subsequent page. I.e full, fancy company logo on the first page, and a trimmed down version on every other. In Crystal, I would have simply used the Report Header and Page Header sections to achieve this - easy.
However, in SQL Reporting Services, there is only a Page Header section - therefore whatever I place in the Page Header shows on every page. Now, I know how to stop it displaying on the first page, but I don't know how to display the other image instead.
I read in a support forum that it is possible to do this by "placing report items above or below your data regions" but I can't get it to work.
I'm exporting from a View using the bcp utility. I have the -t switch set for comma delimited. My first 3 columns are integers, but the rest of my columns need to be wrapped in double quotes because some of the string data contains commas. I can't find a simple way to do this, although I keep coming across notes about format files without any good examples.
I have a report that is scheduled to run a once a week. This works fine. But now I would like this report to be saved as an Excel file automatically when it runs. how / where do I do this?
I have a table with 201 columns . I am importing 200 columns from a file using DFT. I want update the 201th column with the fileId of the file that just imported. I am storing the fileId of the file in varFileID .
How do I go back and update the 201th column ( column name sfileId) with the varFileID value?
I can use Execute SQL Task but how will I know it's the records of the files that I just imported not other rows.
we are running 2014 enterprise. A couple of column headings (even with smaller font) are a little tall, as much as 6 "lines".   All headings in the respective matrices are aligned vertically as "bottom". When I save the report to excel, these taller headings get chopped off visually in their excel cell.  The cell contains the entire heading. It appears that the second "line" of the heading is the one that is most visible in excel.Â
How do I get these to be saved so user will see entire heading when opening excel doc? In the first matrix there is a text box directly above the matrix and only one row of column headings. In the second there is a higher column group heading containing month name above the problem headings.Â
We have recently upgraded to SP1 of SSRS 2008. As a result, when we export a blank report to CSV, we now get a line of commas below the headings. Or found a way to not include the commas?  New SSRS Output

Can we bulk insert only the desired column from a flat file to a table?
I am using SSIS to bulk insert from a file with more than 200 columns. I am trying to find a way I can bulk insert them to multiples table through SSIS.
The one way I can think is pre map the columns from the file to the destination tables. Build numerous Bulk Insert tasks to achieve that. But not sure if SSIS will let me do that.
I€™m trying to find a way to export all data from a table in to a csv file with a header. I€™m not concerned at this point with dynamic headers (that would be nice but at this point I€™m not picky). I would just like to find a way to programmatically drop a table to a csv file. use tempdb go create view vw_csvexport as select '"' + convert(varchar(50), Name) + '"', '"' + convert(varchar(50), ID) + '"' from TestHeaderTable union all SELECT top 100 percent Name = '"' + name + '"', ID = '"' + convert(varchar(50), ID) + '"'
FROM TestDataTable go
DECLARE @bcpCommand varchar(2000)
SET @bcpCommand = 'bcp tempdb..vw_export out c: est002.txt -c -T -S SERVER'
EXEC master..xp_cmdshell @bcpCommand
I get this error when I run this query Create View or Function failed because no column name was specified for column 1.
If I€™m going about this the completely wrong direction let me know so I can get heading the right direction to get this done.
Hi. How can I display output from a simple SQL query in Query Analyzer so that the column heading/broken underline appearing above the column values is not displayed? Something akin to "set heading off".
After publish a report to Report Server, how can we export that report to word file ?
I used to try Office Writer tool. This tool allows to export report to word file but the report must be created in Office Writer, not report that is created in Reporting Designer of Reporting Service. Is there any way to export report to word file ?
Hi, I got a table with a column datatype BIT. I export it into RAW file destination.
When I try to import into another server the column is like DT_I4... Error 26 Validation error. Attributi: SQL Server Destination [2646]: The column "conIntervallo" can't be inserted because the conversion between types DT_I4 and DT_BOOL is not supported. IMP_Sito_Raw.dtsx 0 0
OK, this message is clean but why appends? Two table are same in all column...seems my PKG cast the column like an DT_I4?
There is some action for correct this error on import, without put on the plane an data conversion task? I do from RAW to RAW for better performance....
I have read a few other posts about how to merge multiple report output files into a single document e.g. a single pdf. There are a few approaches: 1) Generate post script files and then merge and oprint via a post script driver. 2) Generate seperate pdf files and then merge them into single document using a custom library.
I have a third idea and would appreciate any input:
Dynamically generate a RDL file that contains sub-reports, one for each report required in the final document, publish and run this as the final report. This could happen way before actually running the report i.e. the user has a tool where they select reports for a pack, tool then generates new RDL file and publishes it to sql reporting services, gets run at some later point in time.
Some challenges: -Generate a table of contents with page numbering? -Layout of sub-reports, not sure how they would be rendered across multiple pages? -Managing parametes across sub-reports at run time.
I've got a report which, when exported to word, comes up with only the body of the report visible, and with the protected view warning present in Word 2013. When I enable editing, the header and footers appear correctly. What is happening here, and how do I correct it, if at all? I don't know that my customer is likely to accept having to enable editing to address this.
I am having DTS problem exporting from a table to a text file (my 600 character table column is truncated to 255 characters in the output text file). I don't why this is happining nor how to get the DTS not truncate to 255 characters. Is this a bug? A limitation? How do I get around this problem? .......I am running SQL Server 7 SP1 and database is in 6.5 compatability mode.
As the title indicates am i searching for a method to export values of a column to a file (plain text). I have been searching on the internet about it but can't seem to find any information. I am working with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
The values has to come out as they are in the table meaning
aaaa ------ bbbb ------ ccc -----
to aaaa bbb ccc
I am hoping there is a method to do this by creating a script, telling what table to copy and to save it on file yyy/xxx/zzz.txt
I have created a new report & add a table to it. When I select "Tablix Properties" and check on Columns Headers -> "Repeat Cheader columns on each page" the header columns do not repeat on each page. I also tried "Repeat header rows on each page". "Add page break before" seems to work ok. I am using VS 2008 9.0.30729.1 SP..I also tried deploying but it still does not work on the deployed version.
