I am new in Crystal reports so please help me on this one.
I have to create a report that will bring back the TOP 20 customers per Sales Rep. My SQL stored procedure needs a parameter @SalesRep to execute. My stored procedure links between 2 tables. How do I get this stored procedure executed in Crysal Reports to give me results. The SP works fine.

I have added a new field to the SP, but when I try to add thefield to my Crystal Report invoice, the field isn't available in thelist. However, if I create a new, blank report using the same storedprocedure as the datasource, the field is available. I've seeminglytried every iteration of "Verify Database" to no avail.The obvious answer would be to simply drop the sp from my existingreport and then re-add it. However, if you do this, all your fields onthe report are dropped.Any ideas?Thanks,Scott

there, looking for coding suggestion also. Thank you for your assistance.
Currently, CR has a header(Report Header) coming from 1 to 1 tables, there is a parameter
which is passed in, allowing it to retrieve one record for the header(report header or RH).
The CR then has 4 subreports in which each has its own stored procedure. This I believe happens
because the Report Header records relationship to the subreport is 1 to many. The 3 remaining
subreports relationship to the Report Header is also a 1 to many. The main problem is the
subreports is that there may or may not have any records based on this, the subreport is
suppressed within CR and thus there can be alot of unused white space on the 1st page and one
of the subreports prints on a 2nd page when it could have been on the 1st page.
Example:
Main Stored Procedure(sp)
RH Tables: aaa, bbb, ccc, ddd are 1 to 1 record tables and have a @xyz parameter.
Results of subreports and their associated procedure are varchar(8000) decriptions. Each line
should be counted in some manner in the stored procedure(sp) and then should be counted in CR
to avoid excess white space. To complicate matters subreport 2 to has font, bold, showbox but
can have different font sizes. These variations could cause different line space requirements.

Because of the relationships, its seems impossible to create one stored procedure which give

concatinating i.e. 3 records together and then parsing it out some how in CR, along with
utilizing the i.e. 3 record count to help count lines. Thought of some how creating a temporary
table matrix for 8pt - 28pt for line and spacing considerations.
Stored Procedure Results Differ In ISQL/W And Crystal Reports
Oct 29, 1998We're having problems with a number of stored procedures we have written (we're all v. new to SQL Server). The typical scenario is :
sp executes spA,spB and spC
Each uses a cursor, spA,spB and spC out values that sp wants to output with some additional info.
In ISQL/W the output is fine. When the sp is executed from a Crystal Report we always get a single row of data (the 1st). We get the same problem if it is executed from the Access Upsizing Tool's SQL Server Browser utility.
We use SET NOCOUNT ON in sp (not in the others).
If we remove SET NOCOUNT ON we get now rows in Crystal.
I enclose an example (with 3 sub- SPs). Help. Martin

SQL Server 2008 :: Find All Items That Call A Stored Procedure
Nov 2, 2015We have a process that uses a stored procedure: sp_MysteryProcedure....
The problem I am having is: I am 95% certain the issue lies with this stored procedure, but I cannot find the process that calls this procedure. It could be a SQL Server Job that calls the procedure directly, it could be an SSIS (*.dtsx) process that calls this procedure, or some other random process.
One of the big issues is we have tons of *.dtsx packages that call a bunch of stored procedures, but it doesn't seem a normal Windows Search (Start --> Search) searches these files (or perhaps something else is going on with this search).
So my question is multi-part.....
1). How would one go about finding a rouge process that loads data via a stored procedure if we believe we know the stored procedures name?
2). How do you search *.dtsx files?

When creating the connection from Crystal I have selected the OLE DB provider supplied by Microsoft with the product and then been presented with the 'Data Source' screen. On entering the path to my .sdf file I get an error reading :-
Opening a database as read only requires a temp path to be specified. [,,,Db name,,]
Can you tell me what is required to be entered here?
Also - I only have the Express Edition of SQL Server 2005 which won't open an Anywhere Edition database - is there a way of getting the mobile tools for use on the desktop?

i have a strange problem ..., with crystal reports for Visual Studio 2005.
With same report i have this problem.
i make an upgrade from MSDE to Express and with the same app i have this beaver
The report is faster with data insert with MSDE (5 to 10 sec)
The report is very slow with data insert with Express (1,30 min to 2:20 min)
The same app, the same server the same report ...
This is strange ...

I need to create a Crystal Report based on a SQL Server database. However, life is never that easy…
The report needs data to be taken from the database, manipulated and reported upon. Doing this manipulation within CR will make the report take far too long to produce so I thought I would create a temporary table within SQL Server and manipulate that.
Cannot get Create Table permission!
Plan B is to use VB / ADO to extract the data (about 1 million rows) from SQL Server and write it to a local Access database that I can manipulate as much as I want. Crystal Reports can then report on the Access data.
Questions:
•Is this the best way to go?
•I know how to use ADO to connect to n Access database but how do I connect to a SQL Server database?
•I think I will need to write a single Select to build the SQL Server recordset but will I need to write each row individually, using a Do Unitl loop, to get the data into the Access recordset?

SQL Stored Procedure To Populate Crystal Report
Mar 15, 2004I'm working on a stored procedure to populate a Crystal report. My company insists that we put the report parameters in the stored procedure instead of in Crystal...so that the SQL server (rather than the desktop)does the work of restricting the data. Is there anything I can do on the SQL side(possibly User Defined Data Type) to get Crystal to prompt me for a date WITHOUT the time? I started with this:

When Crstal prompts me for the parameters, I can type the date or use the calendar to pick a date, but I AM FORCED to enter a time. I know I could choose to ignore the time in the stored procedure, but the users don't want to see the time section of the parameter. Apparently SQL doesn't have a plain "date" parameter without a time.
I've also considered this:
CREATE proc uspReportData @BeginDate char(10), @EndDate char(10)
However if I do it this way, I can't seem to find a way to make sure a valid date is entered when Crystal prompts the user for the dates.
If using char(10) turns out to be the best method, is there a way I can pre-populate the Crystal prompts like this:
@BeginDate = 1st day of the current month
@EndDate = the current system date
Crystal seems to allow hard coded default values, but I can't find a way to do calculated default values.
I'm open to suggestions.

Calling A Stored Procedure From Crystal Report
Aug 7, 2007I've tried to find this documented on the Internet and found Crystal Reports User's Guid online documentation (582 pages of it!) It looks like it will be helpful for my other questions, but what I'm trying to do right now is call a stored procedure from my crystal report. So in Field Explorer under Database Fields my stored procedure is there with the three columns it selects. How do I put these three columns on my report? I try dragging them to Section 3 details and they're there but when I preview the report all I get are the headers, not the records. Is there something else I need to do? It requires an input parameter which I am not getting prompted for - maybe that is my problem, without an input parameter it can't successfully run the stored procedure, so how do I make it prompt me?

i am developing a Performance Management System for my organisation and reports are quite complex. so i thought to create a CLR stored procedure and then use this in Crystal Report.
The problem I am facing is that the CLR stored procedures I create using Visual Studio 2005 are not visible from Crystal Reports XI come with Visual Studio 2005. I can create stored procedures using standard transact sql and these are visible, but the CLR stored procedures are not.
I Simply create a CLR store procedure in Visual Basic and debug it. This CLR procedure then appeares under stored procedure node in SQL Server 2005.
I've noticed when I browse the stored procedures in my SQL Management Studio that the image of the stored procedure has a padlock shown in the icon, as if they are locked?
Do I have to explicitly enable a security attribute on CLR stored procedures to make them visible?
any help would be highly appretiated.

My issue is with converting multi-value parameters:
In Crystal Reports, you can set a parameter to accept multiple vales (Discrete, Range or Discrete and Range).
As an example:
I have a database table with a column called ID.
I can create a parameter called param_id and set the options of the parameter to "Allow multiple range values".
With this setup, I can limit the result set of the report by comparing the param_id parameter to the ID column in the database. Because param_id is a multi-value range parameter, I can pass it the following data:
1 - 50
60 - 80
150 - 127
This will only return results within those ranges.
Does anyone know if SSRS provides this kind of functionality?

Login Failure Issue With Crystal Reports Connecting To SQL Server 2005

My application uses "crystal reports" control to integrate some reports that can be viewed from within the application.
I'm getting a login failed (due to bad password SQL State 8) error when I bring up the report from within the application. The report runs fine outside the application with the same username password.
- I've checked several times to make sure that I'm passing the correct username/password from the application.
- All letters in the password are lower case. There is not case-sensitive issue.
- I printed the username and password on a pop-up to see what values are passed , and they are correct.
- A single test page that uses the same version of "Crystal Reports" control , using the same username/password, brings up the same report works fine.
I guess , my question is:
Is there a way to trace the login failure event on the SQL Server side to see what is the value of the password that is being sent by crystal reports control?
I'm using Crystal Reports XI with sp2.
SQL Server 2005.

if i pass value in "where city in (@Zone)" and @Zone ='CA','AD','MH' then it can not get any result..but if write where city in ('CA','AD','MH') then it give me perfact result..
I tried to below syntax also but in no any user Where city IN ('+@Zone+')
In short if i pass value through varibale (@Zone) then i cant get result...but if i put direct value in query then only getting result..can anybody tell me what is problem ?

SQL Server Express And C# 2.0: Cannot Find Stored Procedure...
Sep 5, 2006Hi everybody, I created several stored procedure in a local sql server 2005 express database, now when I call/execute them in the asp.net 2.0 web page, it returns an error message of "Cannot find the stored procedure '<proc_name>'", this is funny, when I execute the commandin a sql query window "exec sp_GetAllArticles", it also returns cannot find stored procedure, but when I execute the "Use <DBName>" and thenexecute the statement, it works. The sql connection used in codes is ok. Jan 9, 2008This is my first forray into writing stored procedures and like the manual said created one in SQL Server 2005 parsed or tested it, executed it, tested it again succesfully,need to modify it but can't find it under stored procedures file where I initially right clicked and selected New Stored Procedure.

SQL Server 2008 :: Search For A Stored Procedure
Jun 25, 2015I would like to search for a particular stored procedure written by a developer. I know the name of the procedure but in which db is it residing in. There are 40 databases in this SQL 2008 instance. I search on the name column in sys.all_objects table and it does not return anything. I end up querying sys.procedures on each database to locate the procedure. Is there a system table/view that I can query to look for a procedure, instead of querying sys.procedures on each database one by one?

Oct 7, 2013I am search for coding criteria I need create a stored procedure with execute as and along with encryption. How can I use the same ? My main motive is to create proc with execute as a user also at the same time I need to encrypt the same from other users seeing the code.
The below query is getting errors:
