SQL Server 2008 :: Function To Check Name Format (Last / First / Middle)
May 27, 2015
I have to figure out the items that Legal Name implies individual but Legal Entity Structure indicates a incorporation type. In this sample, you can see Alexander, Justin N. is my target. But my problem is how should I use a query to figure out which one is a individual's name? How should I write a function to check the name format (Last, First Middle)?
Legal Name ////////////////////////////////////// Legal_Entity_Struct
S & H Farm Supply, Ltd.////////////////////////////Company
F.M.Abbott Power Equipment,Co.///////////////Company
Ray's Dixie Chopper, Inc.////////////////////////// Company
Alexander, Justin N. ///////////////////////////////// Company
Alameda Power Equipment, Inc.//////////////// Company
select Computername from dbo.ADAssets where Computername like 'AIRLBEOF3565%'
I get both records,but if I do this
select * from dbo.ADAssets where Computername in ( 'AIRLBEOF3565 CNF:4e926e06-6f62-4864-aebd-6311543d', 'AIRLBEOF3565' )
I only get AIRLBEOF3565
So the big picture is that I need to compare 2 tables to find records that match & don't but that I get matches that shouldn't be & matches that aren't.
I have this assignment where i have a table full of two digit exam scores and I have to write a function that eliminate x number of top values and x number of bottom values and return all the middle values. When the function is called, obviously a number is entered such as 3 and the top 3 and bottom 3 scores are not returned. i.e. SELECT * FROM GetMiddleValues (3);
If anyone has any ideas on how to accomplish this, that would be great.
I have to use a field that is calculated in a data flow process and call a database function (return a value) to do anther calculation; then return a value back to the data flow. I tried OLD DB Command but I cannot configure to return a value back to the same data flow. If there any transformations that can call a DB function and get a value from the function in the middle of the data flow process? Need more detailed instruction.
Our database crashed this morning and went into recovery mode.how I can track the progress of the recovery to determine how long it might take?The error log shows that it started up all the databases, then shows the recovery messages fr the msdb database, then shows that sql server is ready for client connections. I don't see any messages about my database recovery or the number of transactions to roll forward or background. If i run the sys.sp_readerrorlog and search for my database name, the only line returned is the starting up database message.
I do expect the database to take a while to recovery as it is about 8TB, there is plenty of free disk space about 3TB.The database started recovery while a transaction log backup was running so that backup failed,the last transaction log backup was taken 2 hours before recovery started. The last full backup completed about 5 days ago. The transaction log backup occurs every 2 hours and is typically around 16GB.
i have 70 SQL database servers and i setup DB Mail on the 70 Servers, i want to know is there a way to find the status of all the jobs which i assigned the DB Mail and if its working/failing... is there a script i can run on powershell or SQL to find out that information
I am working now on optimization of an update query for a particular table and I want to measure the number of page splits after each update. How to check it?
I have groups of records in a table, and I would like to set a necessary condition on each group. The condition is that EXACTLY ONE of the records in each group has a flag field set to True (bit = 1). I can naturally write triggers for update, insert and delete events that test for such a condition.
Something along the lines of this condition:
(select count(ClovekAutoID) from TableOfClovekNames tCN where JeHlavni = 1 group by ClovekAutoID having COUNT(JeHlavni ) > 1) = 1In fact,
I tried this just on whim, but naturally, the SS engine told me to go roll my hoop, that subqueries are not allowed in constraint expressions.
I also have a RESOURCES table of phrases (for translation purposes) similar to this:
res_id res_lang res_phrase AccessDenied en Access Denied
For some rows in the resources table I do not have all language codes present so am missing some translations for a given res_id.My question is what query can I use to determine the RESOURCE.RES_IDs for which I do not have a translation for.
For example I might have a de, en, cz translation for a phrase but not a pl phrase and I need to identofy those rows in order that I can obtain translations for the missing RESOURCE rows.
I'm trying to run a query to check the downtime in production lines, but if a line has assigned more than one cause for the downtime it repeat the info for each cause.
This is the code.
SELECT D.Line AS Line, D.ProductionLine AS ProductionLine, D.Shift AS Shift, D.DownTime, CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), D.DatePacked,101) AS DatePacked, AssignedDowntime, (D.DownTime - AssignedDowntime) AS NOASSIGNED, R.Enviromental,R.Equipment, R.IT_Systems, R.Material_External,R.Quality,R.Material_Internal, R.Method,R.PreProduction,R.People FROM ( SELECT Line, Shift, DatePacked, SUM(Cast(Downtime AS INT)) AS AssignedDowntime,
....
I'm expecting that if is more than one "Down Reason "it will include in the same line. At this moment if i have more than one reason it create a line for each one for example:
If i have a total Downtime of 50 minutes and they are assigned 10 for itequipment, 30 by testequipment and 10 assigned to quality issues i will have and output like this:
I need to create a script task in sql server 2008 R2 to check if a file exists in a directory. For example, to see if output.dat exist under c:results. If the file exists, then send out an email stating the file exists, if not then send out another email stating the file does not exists.I noticed there is a huge difference between the script task in sql 2005 and sql 2008 r2.
How can we monitor the all tables in all databases and send notifications to the team.Is there a way to check to find the no of rows and size of a table last month and find out growth % now
Hye all, running WHS 2008, I try to install SQL Server 2005 with reporting services, but on install, in "components to install" wizard, the reporting services box is hided. I can't check this box :/ Do you know whats wrong ? if anyone knows the problem, thanks in advance.
How can we identify the Date Format from a String in SQL Server.
I might get an input from external source as "MM-DD-YYYY" or "DD-MM-YYYY" or "YYYY-MM-DD" or "YYYY-DD-MM", all i have to do is return the same with Current Date in the same format as Input.
I have a date field stored in a character type field ( this field is a spare one in an ERP package )I am trying to validate and convert to a date format using the following;

The results are ;
Date Result 29/09/08 1900-01-01 00:00:00.000 09/06/15 2015-09-06 00:00:00.000 18/03/13 1900-01-01 00:00:00.000 09/10/14 2014-09-10 00:00:00.000
as you can see - the date 29/09/08 is a valid UK date format - however it fails the validation. 09/06/15 converts to 6th September 2015 ( mm/dd/yy ) format...What do I need to do to force this to identify as dd/mm/yy date format ?
I have to perform a bulk Import on a regular Basis and have created a script to do this. The Problem is that the .csv file has 12 Columns and the table to Import into has 14. To Workaround this discrepancy I have decided to use a Format file. The Problem is that how to create one.
insert into Test123 values(1,'Name','X') insert into Test123 values(1,'Age',50) insert into Test123 values(1,'Salary',1000) insert into Test123 values(2,'Name','Y') insert into Test123 values(2,'Age',30) insert into Test123 values(2,'Salary',2000) insert into Test123 values(3,'Name','Z') insert into Test123 values(3,'Age',35) insert into Test123 values(3,'Salary','One Hundred')
And I want output in below format.
AttributeValueType ================= AGE | NUMERIC NAME | ALPHABET SALARY | ALPHANUMERIC ==================
we are having the same code base in both the environment but we have different version of SQL Server Version(Env 1 - SQL 2012, Env 2 - SQL 2008). We are getting the expected result in Env - 1 but not in the ENV -2. So we tried to get the SQL trace for the web request we found that Date format getting changed.
2012 - Date Format in the SQL Trace for the request '2015-09-10 00:00:00' which is working as expected. 2008 - Date Format in the SQL Trace for the request 'Sep 10 2015 12:00:00:000AM' which is Not working.
Complete SQL Trace for Request. Evn - 1 - SQL Server 2012 exec dbo.usp_GetWorkQueue @ClientName='CLT',@HasFilter=1,@FacilityName='',@StartDate='2015-09-10 00:00:00',@EndDate='2015-09-18 00:00:00',@OrderDirection='D',@StartIndex=1,@PageSize=20
I am trying to use get date function, I want dates of my column in between, first of this month and first of the previous month, at this moment the expected result would be: (09/01/2015 and 10/01/2015)..
Seems like it would involve datediff and dateadd both...
I am importing a couple SAS datasets to SQL Server 2008 for a project. The dates are in a float format, they show up as DT_R8 in SSIS. How can I convert these values to SQL server datetime? I have tried dozens of methods I found on-line with no success, I keep getting 'Arithmetic overflow error converting expression to data type datetime.' errors.
When creating xml fileformat its throwing me error "invalid ordinal".
When created non-xml file format, no error, and was also able to load data file into sql table. Not sure why bcp (Version: 10.50.1600.1) is not able to create xml file format.
C:>BCP "MyGDB.dbo.Items_Import" format nul -f"C:AnkitTempBCPItemsMaster.xml" -x -w -T -S"(Local)"
SQLState = HY000, NativeError = 0 Error = [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0][SQL Server]Invalid ordinal for field 2 in xml format file.
Recently I have come across a requirement where i need to design a table.
There are some columns in table like below with DECIMAL Datatype:
BldgLength
BldgHeight
BldgWeight
Based on my knowledge, i know that values before Floating-Point will not be more than 4 digits.
Now as per MSDN,
Precision => 1 - 9 Storage bytes => 5
so i can create column as:
BldgLengthDECIMAL(6,2) DEFAULT 0
OR
BldgLengthDECIMAL(9,2) DEFAULT 0
Now while reading some articles, i came to know that when we do some kind of operation like SUM Or Avg, on above column then result might be larger than current data type.
So some folks suggested me that i should keep some extra space/digits considering above MATH functions, to avoid an Arithmetic Over Flow error.
So my question is what should be value of DataType for above column ?
Hi All,I am facing a problem with a sql what i used in MS Access but its notreturning the same result in MS Sql Server 2000. Here i am giving thesql:SELECT TOP 3 format( MY_DATE, "dddd mm, yyyy" ) FROM MY_TAB WHEREMY_ID=1The above sql in ACCESS return me the date in below format in onecolumn:Friday 09, 2003But in Sql server 2000 i am not getting the same format eventhough iam using convert function, date part function etc.Please if you find the solution would be helpful for me..ThanksHoque
I have a table where hours are being loaded in a weekly basis. The YearWeek is populated when the data is loaded. The value format of the Year Week is 2015-39, 2015-41, etc. I need to calculate the total hours per Fiscal Year.For example, week '2015-39' will be return FY15 and week '2015-41' will return FY16, and so on. By extracting the year, I can do a group by and have total hours for each year.
Currently, I have it working by splitting the value into year and week and then looping through each year and week, so I can assign the totals to the corresponding FY.select sum(hours) as total, yearweek from tablename group by yearweek...Then I loop through using C#.I can return the FY using an actual date,how to do it for year-week format for any given year.
select CASE WHEN CAST(GETDATE() AS DATE) > SMALLDATETIMEFROMPARTS(DATEPART(YEAR,GETDATE()),09,30,00,000) THEN DATEPART(YEAR,GETDATE()) + 1 ELSE DATEPART(YEAR,GETDATE()) END AS FY
