I am designing an application where multiple users can be assign to a product for review. If a user doesn't have access to the product, they are not allowed to see it. I have attached my table design. All users are assign to a role. See attached screen
we have a server (Windows server 2008 R2 Standard) that runs a hyper V manager. The Hyper V manager runs 2 virtual servers.
One of the virtual servers uses the software XAMPP (it’s a web portal). The local IP for the virtual machine is 192.168.0.xxx
I have configured the XAMPP in a way so that any user in our domain can access the portal when the user writes the ip address in the web browser.Instead of the ip address, I want the user to be able to write a specific given name.
I need to add a calculated column item in the same column. Please see SQL Codes for both existing data and desired outcome.
Product O is added according to:
for 201501 Product O= sum of en_count for product Y,W,N when yrmnth=201501 for 201502 Product O= sum of sum of en_count for product Y,W,N when yrmnth=20150
SQL:
--Existing Data --===== If the test table already exists, drop it IF OBJECT_ID('TempDB..#Table1') IS NOT NULL DROP TABLE #Table1
--===== Create the test table with CREATE TABLE #Table1 ( product char(100), yrmnth varchar(6), en_count int,
[Code] ....
--Desired Outcome
IF OBJECT_ID('TempDB..#Table2') IS NOT NULL DROP TABLE #Table2
--===== Create the test table with CREATE TABLE #Table2 ( product char(100), yrmnth varchar(6),
write a query that lists item, mfg serial number, and inspection date. The caveat is that, where there is more than one record for an item, he only wants item listed once. For example:
I tried using my administrator account to add SQLServer as an ODBC Connection, but for some reason when it tries authenticating it fails and the reason is that the user is not trusted to use that connection. Yet on my account i've created on my domain works perfectly.
I've added a new user in SQL Enterprise manager, but i still get that error.
How do I set the user to be trusted to use the connection?
I need to run a script in production that adds primary key to a table. Because table is large, I can't run it in one shot, the log file is not so large to accommodate it. Instead, I created a new table with same structure plus new surrogate primary key, and I populate it in a cursor loop.
I already ran it many times in test server, and no problems with that. But the problem will be in production when applications will be accessing this table and try to insert/update it while I am running my loop.
So I am looking for a solution how to block users to access this table, it's OK if they receive an error. Setting database to single user mode will not work because I don't want to block them from all the rest tables in this database.
what is MS's strategy for having two off the shelf ways of getting at reports? In a typical company, is the average non administrator type user getting at his reports via one, the other, both?
Hello,Basically, I have a table with 2 fieldsId item#1 33332 33333 22224 22225 22226 33337 33338 3333I would like to only select the last identical Item# which in this case would be the id 6,7 and 8Any idea how could I do that?Thanks
Is there any way to get more information for when IAuthorizationExtension::CheckAccess fails to grant access to a report item for the current user? Specifically, it would be useful to know:
1. URL of attempted report 2. IP address of user agent 3. Identity of current user 4. Date/Time of the failed attempt
I'm creating one of my first asp.net pages, and it accesses an MS SQL database. It runs fine locally, but if you go to it remotely through a web browser, you get an exception saying that the database login failed for user ASPNET.My brother told me to do the following in SQL Server Managment studio. It seems I don't have that program installed, so I did it from the SQL command prompt.CREATE LOGIN [bigblueASPNET] FROM WINDOWSuse AdventureWorkscreate user [bigblueASPNET](Where "bigblue" is the computer name and "AdventureWorks" is the database my asp.net web page reads from). This only partially fixed the problem - now when you open the page remotely and try to access the DB I get an error message saying that permission to use the SELECT command is denied.I searched on these forums, and found this:http://forums.asp.net/69166/ShowPost.aspxFor future reference, let's call what my brother told me "Method 1" and what the previous poster did as "Method 2."I haven't tried method 2 because I don't know exactly what I am giving ASPNET permission to do. Does method 2 enable ASPNET to do anything to any database? It seems method 1 is more secure, as from the commands I could already tell it only has permission to access AdventureWorks. So, I'd prefer to use method 1. Can anyone tell me what further commands I can use to give ASPNET permission to do specific actions? If I can't figure out method 1 and have to do method 2, how can I undo what I did in method 1?Thanks!
I've created a local server from Sql Express, and report server from Reporting service configuration manager, and than publish a report on the local report server. I want to give access to the other computer user to the sql reports, database and report server.
My application is currently integration with reporting services using custom security extension. I have my own USER and ROLE database to determine who/which role can access certain reports.
My question is how to give access a report to be viewable by everyone? I dont want to assign all users or all roles to achieve this.
The other thing that I found out is, let say I change the name one of the user/role. Because of this, the authorization will fail because the old name/role is not in the DB anymore. Is this expected? or is there a workaround it?
I have a user who has created several SQL7 databases and uses a VB app which schedules jobs (under the sa account) on the SQL server. How can I allow this user to view scheduled jobs on the server ? I don't want to give him too many priviledges.
I'm using SQL Server Management Studio eExpress and I'm tryng to link to a database created in Visual Web Developer Express. My problem is that I can't see large parts of my file system when I try to attach a database in SQL Server Express. Web Developer Express likes to put its databases in C:Documents and Settings<User Name>My DocumentsVisual Studio 2005WebSites<Site Name>App_Data. However, when I try to attach a database in that location to SQL Server Express (Right Click Databases node, select Attach from the shortcut menu then Add from the Attach Databases dialog) I get a folder tree that won’t let me go any further than C:Documents and Settings<User Name>. There seem to be large parts of my folder structure that I cannot access with this dialog.
Just in case this is a permissions issue, I am using Windows XP Pro on a stand alone machine. I log on as Administrator, and the <User Name> in the above paths is Administrator. The Administrator is a member of the Administrators group. I have never logged on as anything else and never made any changes to the way permissions are set. When I start SQL Server express I select Windows Authentication.
Hello everyone. I am using C#, and posted this in the C# forum, but was told to try here, as for some reason I just can't get this to work. Everyone was very helpful, but for some reason I keep getting a message that a value is not being given for one or more required parameters. This doesn't make any sense though, as I am specifying a value for all parameters...
Basically, I have a listBox that has several items in it. I want to update the database for each item that appears in the listBox. I can't seem to get this to work though, no matter what I try, and it is driving me nuts... lol
Here is a link to my original thread: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2349891&SiteID=1
Here is my code:
Code Block
string whereClause = ""; for (int i = 0; i < Panel1ListView1.Items.Count; i++) { if (i == 0) { whereClause = "ID = " + Panel1ListView1.Items[0].Text; } else { whereClause += " OR ID = " + Panel1ListView1.Items[i].Text; } }
try { using (OleDbConnection conn = new OleDbConnection(@"Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" + Environment.CurrentDirectory + @"DB.mdb;Jet OLEDB:Database Password=xxx;")) { OleDbCommand cmd; conn.Open();
string command = "UPDATE [Table1] SET [Status] = @P1, [Name] = @P2, [Number] = @P3 WHERE " + whereClause;
int i = cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); } } catch (Exception ex) { MessageBox.Show(ex.ToString()); } I really appreciate any help anyone can give me. I REALLY want to get this working. I am open to any suggestions and will try anything.
I have been struggling with this one for awhile now.I have a domain group which only must view the steps and history of all agent jobs.I have added the group to the sqlagentreadergroup.I have created a new role and denied this role, add job, update job, delete job etc execute permissions. But the user still can change ,delete or create a new job.
All the groups and users in th new role, does not have sysadmin rights.
we have sql 2012 enterprise version
What else can i try.I need this for audit purposes.
I'm developing a Custom Report Item and would like to fill my properties dialog in design mode with real data. I have the name of the data source and the command text for the corresponding report dataset, read from the report design.
Is it possible to create an ado.net dataset so that I can display and use real data in my properties dialog box? First problem I have is to get the connection string from the data source string. I found no docs for that, especially the Microsoft.ReportingServices.DataExtensions.ReportDataSource class is not documented. Am I on the right way with that?
I'm inserting from TempAccrual to VacationAccrual . It works nicely, however if I run this script again it will insert the same values again in VacationAccrual. How do I block that? IF there is a small change in one of the column in TempAccrual then allow insert. Here is my query
INSERT INTO vacationaccrual (empno, accrued_vacation, accrued_sick_effective_date, accrued_sick, import_date)
I have around 600 databases in my server, a user need select access of all the databases. will i have to go one by one in all the dbs and create that user and give datareader role to him. or is thr any shorter way to do so????
I am working with SSIS package. It executes everyday.
It has the file system task. It moves the production backup from one server to the different server. In today's execution the package failed with the following error
Error Description:An error occurred with the following error message: "The process cannot access the file 'ECOSQLDumpsTest_backup_2015_02_03_230004_1557700.bak' because it is being used by another process.".
How to find which process is using that test backup file?
I know i could use Process explorer to find processes which are accessing a drive or a folder, i need exact same thing to be recorded/monitored. Basically i need list of all processes accessing a drive/folder.
Hi, I'm a beginner on SQL Server Reporting Services field. I perform a full installation of SQL Server 2008 CTP6 Developer Editon on a clean Windows Server 2008 Enterprise machine. I log on to the machine using the built-in Administrator account so there is no UAC stuff. The Enhanced Security Configuration of IE is disabled. When I want to have a look at the Report Manager by typing http://localhost/Reports, it pops up an error says "The underlying connection was closed. Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel." It makes me confused so any help or suggestion is highly appreciated.

I have a BOM table with all finished item receipes and semi items recipes. create a query where semi item materials are also listed in finished item recipe.
Hi Folks, I have an access 2007 data base for document control and it saves the received documents in a table in a attachment field type, I tried to upsize it to SQL Server 2005 but after upsizing realized that this field type is not supported by 2005 so I downloaded the SQL Express 2008 and installed it as it has this enhancement but Access 2007 doesn’t recognize the server for upsizing. I appreciate you help Thanks
Here's my problem. I have 2 tasks defined in my Control Flow tab:
EXECUTE SQL--------->EXECUTE DTS 2000 PACKAGE
When I attempt to run it, by right-clicking the EXECUTE SQL task, and selecting "Execute Task", it only runs the EXECUTE SQL part (successfully), and does not "kick off" the EXECUTE DTS 2000 PACKAGE, after it is done running (even though it completes successfully, as shown by the green box).
Yes, they are connected by a dark green arrow, as indicated in my diagram above.
Why is this?? Am I missing something here? Need help.
How can i give a table wise exclusive lock in MSSQL Server ?
I got the description but, How can I apply this ? The sql : LOCK TABLE <tablename> IN EXCLUSIVE MODE is not working.
Is there any query/method to do this ? Please help ...
thanks
About Exclusive locks -------------------- Exclusive (X) locks are used for data modification operations, such as UPDATE, INSERT, or DELETE.
Other transactions cannot read or modify data locked with an Exclusive (X) lock. If a Shared (S) exists, other transactions cannot acquire an Exclusive (X) lock. --------------------
I'm trying to connect to a database using a service account that we got created. The ID is an AD account and was added to the db as such. When I try to connect to the database using the account with the password I get [login failed for domainid]. The DBA mentioned that its setup to use windows auth, however, I can't connect with this service account using windows Auth, due to I'm using to connect via code.
How can I connect to the database from my code using this ID?
I have the ID and pwd in my code to connect with, does the ID have to be setup differently in the Database?
Had some big problems with my SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 during the last maintenance running on Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise ( upgraded from Standard). I'm getting the following error,
"SQL Server blocked access to procedure 'dbo.sp_sqlagent_has_server_access' of component 'Agent XPs' because this component is turned off as part of the security configuration for this server. A system administrator can enable the use of 'Agent XPs' by using sp_configure. For more information about enabling 'Agent XPs', see "Surface Area Configuration" in SQL Server Books Online."
I did a google search and found others with the problem but the resolution isn't working for me. I ran the following commands, heck I ran them multiple times. No errors come back running these commands. But the same error keeps happening, I even restart the service and then the server again.
sp_configure 'show advanced options', 1; GO RECONFIGURE; GO sp_configure 'Agent XPs', 1; GO RECONFIGURE GO
The msdb got too big for the disk it was on. I had maintenance plans to clear out the all of histories but I didn't think of the mail items. When I finally saw this problem I tried clearing them out using the stored procedures only with it finally failing because the transaction log got full. Since we didn't have a lot of jobs scheduled I decided to just recreate the msdb. So I scheduled a maintenance window, download SQL Server Service Pack 3.
my steps are as follows: ->diff backup of msdb ->stopped the service and started it again with: NET START MSSQLSERVER /T3608 ->detached msdb with: SQLCMD -E -SP-SRVR-SQL-01 -dmaster -Q"EXEC sp_detach_db msdb" ->moved it off the drive ->restarted the service without any startup flags ->recreated msdb with: SQLCMD -E -SP-SRVR-SQL-01 -i"D:Microsoft SQL ->ServerMSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVERMSSQLInstallinstmsdb.sql" -o"D:Microsoft SQL ServerMSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVERMSSQLInstallinstmsdb62715.out"
I looked at the log file and there were no actual error messages so I applied service pack 3 and restarted server after it installed, was actually prompted to restart. In my tests I was never prompted to restart the server. Now I never started the agent service after recreating the msdb database since I knew it wasn't on the same version. I just went directly to the latest SP. Our applications are running fine but now I cant do scheduled backups.
I created am inventory table with few columns say, Servername, version, patching details, etc
I want a tracking of the table.
Let's say people are asked to modify the base table and I want a complete capture of the details modified and the session of the user ( ) who (system_user) is actually modifying the details.
I am trying to insert bulk data into main table from staging table in sql server 2012. If any error comes, this total activity is rollbacked. I don't want that to happen. I want to know the records where ever the problem persists, and the rest has to be inserted.
