SQL Server 2008 :: How To Delete Tables In Database Whose Table Names Match A Criteria
Jul 22, 2015
The database has approx. 2500 temporary tables. The temp tables match a pattern such as APTMP... I tried deleting the tables in SSMS with the statement, Delete from Information_Schema.tables where substring(table_name,1,5) = 'APTMP' This returns the error message"Ad hoc updates to system catalogs are not allowed".
What is the correct way to delete a group of tables whose name match a pattern from within SSMS?
I am using the following views from two db's to find records that don't match.
My question is can I have output of fields from the second table
SELECT distinct T1.[last name],t1.[first name],ENum FROM ECLINICIAN_Info T1 WHERE NOT EXISTS(SELECT * FROM ACLINICIAN_Info T2 WHERE t1.Enum = t2.Anum and t1.[last name] = t2.lname and t1.[first name] = t2.Fname)
I had 2 tables contain data: 1) old_data: 601,195 records firstname lastname address city state zip zip4
2) current_data: 410,185 records firstname lastname address city state zip zip4 3)Questions: How I write a query make to delete records? From table 'old_data' delete match records reference to table 'current_data' and keep the remain good records are from 'current_data' table.
****Here's below my test query that came up with if there are any error and please provide me any suggestion or new query. Very important task ....Thanks you to all.
/******* Delete current_data From old_data Cross Join current_data Where old_data.FirstName = current_data.FirstName and old_data.LastName = current_data.LastName and old_data.Address = current_data.Address ********/
If an Account's value reaches 20 for StatusID = 1 and 40 for StatusID = 2, that is a called "Good". I want to find out which order made the Account become "Good".
By looking at the data, it is understandble that AccountID 1 crossed Status ID 1's limit of 20 with order 2, but the status ID 2's limit was only crossed after the 6th order was placed. So my output should show 6 for AccountID 1.
For AccountID 2, value of statusID 1 was 5 with orderid 3, but it reached the limit for status id 2 of 40 with order 4. But the first condition was not met. so it shouldn't be seen in the output.
Same with AccountID 3 as well, It reached the limit of status id 1 with order 5 but the limit for order 2 wasn't reached so it should be ignored as well.
I wrote the code as below, its working fine but I still know there are better ways to write since I will be working with atleast a million records.
;WITH CTE AS ( SELECT OrderID,AccountID, StatusID, SUM(Value) OVER(Partition By AccountID, StatusID ORDER BY OrderID) AS RunningTotal FROM @Input
I am using a SQL Server Agent jobs that run each morning to update the records in a table to match what they should be for that day. I built them and tested it using a test table called "testtable1". It worked fine. But when I switched over to our production table, it fails saying the table has to be decaled. What would be the difference. The production table has a "@" in front of the name, is that causing issues?
USE [Live_build] GO SET ANSI_NULLS ON GO SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON GO BEGIN DELETE FROM @ZIPLIST INSERT INTO @ZIPLIST SELECT * FROM tblZip3DSWed; END
I am experimenting with using CDC to track user changes in our application database. So far I've done the following:
-- ENABLE CDC ON DV_WRP_TEST USE dv_wrp_test GO EXEC sys.sp_cdc_enable_db GO
-- ENABLE CDC TRACKING ON THE AVA TABLE IN DV_WRP_TEST USE dv_wrp_test
[Code] ....
The results shown above are what I expect to see. My problem occurs when I use our application to update the same column in the same table. The vb.net application passes a Table Valued Parameter to a stored procedure which updates the table. Below is the creation script for the stored proc:
SET ANSI_NULLS ON GO SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON GO
if exists (select * from sysobjects where id = object_id('dbo.spdv_AVAUpdate') and sysstat & 0xf = 4) drop procedure dbo.spdv_AVAUpdate
[Code] ....
When I look at the results of CDC, instead of operations 3 and 4, I see 1 (DELETE) and 2 (INSERT) for the change that was initiated from the stored procedure:
-- GET CDC RESULTS FOR CHANGES TO AVA TABLE USE dv_wrp_test GO SELECT * FROM cdc.dbo_AVA_CT GO
--RESULTS SHOW OPERATION 1 (DELETE) AND 2 (INSERT) INSTEAD OF 3 AND 4 --__$start_lsn__$end_lsn__$seqval__$operation__$update_maskAvaKeyAvaDescAvaArrKeyAvaSAPAppellationID --0x0031E84F000000740008NULL0x0031E84F00000074000230x02119Test26NULL --0x0031E84F000000740008NULL0x0031E84F00000074000240x02119Test36NULL --0x0031E84F00000098000ANULL0x0031E84F00000098000310x0F119Test36NULL --0x0031E84F00000098000ANULL0x0031E84F00000098000420x0F119Test46NULL
Why this might be happening, and if so, what can be done to correct it? Also, is there any way to get the user id associated with the CDC?
I am restoring a database with 10yrs worth of data which have monthly partitions but i would like to keep only 5yrs of data after the restore is done, what is the best/faster approach to delete the 5yrs data without deleting the partitions as that may cause the db in accessible.
I have these two tables Log and CategoryLog, I need to archive records older than 13 months in these two tables to two separate tables and then delete the archived records from Log and CategoryLog tables. The problem is that only 'Log' table has a date column, the other table CategoryLog does not have any date column. But the two tables are connected by a column(LogID). How to archive the data and then delete the archive data from both tables.
Say I want to search for a range of account numbers but only which are active. After I set my field for A (active) this field shows in my results, I dont want it to.
In Access you can easily just uncheck that field in design view, but how do I do it in sql?
I have some simple files but they are failing because the delete history task is failing as it is looking for files in a non existent directory.
It is looking for files in C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL10_50.INSTANCEMSSQLLog whereas it should be looking in C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVERMSSQLLog
how I can get this corrected so I can get the Maintenance Plans to run correctly.
I have tried deleting and recreating the Plan but to no avail
MS SQL 2008.I want to execute a delete query on certain tables in my database to delete some rows in the tables. The tables selected has a certain name pattern (the name ends with "Temp").
So I can do this to get a list of the table names
SELECT name FROM sys.Tables where name like '%Temp'
Now I want to check each table to see if it has a column with the name "DateStamp" and then execute a delete query as follows:
delete form TableName where DateStamp is < '2010-01-01'
In other words I need to iterate through the tables names, How to do this?
How to delete/drop all the tables from SQL Server Database without using Enterprise Manager? I tried using DROP Tables, Truncate Database, Delete and many more but it is not working. I want to delete all tables using Query Analyzer, i.e. through SQL Query. Please help me out in this concern.Nishith Shah
I would like to know if is possible copy data from a database located in my hosting to my database located in my pc,but using a store procedure, how can i do that ?.What tool i have to use?
how best to approach a problem involving two tables across two different servers.
Table 1: Contains IP Address along with assessment findings. Lets say the fields are IPADDRESSSTR, FINDING
Table 2: Contains Subnet information stored in integer format. The fields are SITE_ID, LOW, and HIGH
What I'd like to do is load the IP range information into memory and then return the findings from table 1 where the IPADDRESSSTR is between the LOW and HIGH integer value.
1) Is there a way to load all of the ranges from table 2 into an array and then compare all the IP addresses (IPADDRESSSTR) from table 1?
2) How do I convert IPADDRESSSTR (a string) to an integer to perform the comparison.

I am using the following select statement to get the row count from SQL linked server table.
SELECT Count(*) FROM OPENQUERY (CMSPROD, 'Select * From MHDLIB.MHSERV0P')
MHDLIB is the library name in IBM DB2 database. The above query gives me only the row count of table MHSERV0P. However, I need to get the names, rowcounts, and sizes of all tables that exist in MHDLIB librray. Is it possible at all?
We have recently copied a database from one machine to another. On the old machine, when we access the tables we do not need to use the username.tablename convention to query them. On the new box we do.
For example, to query a table called Page we would nee to do this on the new box.
SELECT * FROM webdev.page
unfortunately all the code is written, without the username prefix. Is there a way to not use the username prefix?
Thank you for your help...sorry for the newbie type question.
I am trying to replicated table A into table B withing the same server and the same database.

I'm not a full-time DBA, so excuse my style of expressing my question.I have a database which has 2 tables in SQL 2005. Both these tables have similar column names, EXCEPT for new extra columns in FY2007_DATA. I can visually see the difference in columns in Database Diagrams. My goal is to :- I want to compare FY2007 tbl column names to FY2006 column names and display only those columns as results that do not match.Tbl 1 :- FY2006_DATA Tbl 2:-
FY2007_DATA
With online reading and help I have managed to get this script to do exactly opposite of what i want. Below is the query
/* This query compares the column names from two tables and displays the ones that have an exact match. It does not care for case-sensitiveness */
Select a.Table_Name, a.Column_Name, (b.Table_Name), (b.column_name) From [2006-2011].INFORMATION_SCHEMA.Columns AS a Join [2006-2011].INFORMATION_SCHEMA.Columns AS b on a.Column_Name = b.Column_Name Where a.TABLE_NAME = 'FY2006_DATA' And b.TABLE_NAME = 'FY2007_DATA' AND a.Column_Name IN (Select Column_Name = LEFT(c.column_name, 20) FROM [H1B_2006-2011].INFORMATION_SCHEMA.Columns AS c WHERE c.TABLE_NAME = 'FY2007_DATA' )
When I change "AND a.Column_Name IN.." to "AND a.Column_Name NOT IN.." so that the results will (should) display the extra columns in FY2007, in fact I do not see any results, but query executes perfect.
I was given a 2 GB XML file without an XSD. I need to find the element names. I know how to do that using openxml but it takes forever on a file this large. Is there a faster way to do it using xquery?
Is there any danger with renaming the LOGICAL file names behind the database?
There are a bunch of databases that were restored copies and all of them have the same logical database file name. I'm trying to get some growth data so I want the logical files to be different (prefer them to match the actual database name) so I can more easily identify them.
Am I safe to rename the logical names? I can't think of anything that references those logical file names that I would be breaking [backups, applications].
I'm trying to migrate tables from one database to another. The tables in the source database (MY_SOURCE_DB) have a schema of "dbo". I want to create the tables in the target database (MY_TARGET_DB) with a schema of "xyz". I want to migrate all of the tables with "contract" in the table name:
select table_name from information_schema.tables where table_name like '%contract%'
I want to migrate the full table definitions, table data and dependent objects. This needs to be done through a sql script as opposed to SSIS.
Here with the below query iam binding my gridview with industry name, company name,Plant Name,Group Name related to the IDs in Audit table.Select Aud.Ad_ID_PK,Aud.Audit_Name,Ind.Industry_Name,Cmp.Company_Name,Pla.Plant_Name,Gr.Groups_Name,Aud.Audit_Started_On,Aud.Audit_Scheduledto,Aud.Audit_Created_On from Industry Ind, Company Cmp, Plant Pla, Groups Gr, Audits Audwhere Ind.Ind_Id_PK =Aud.Audit_Industry and Cmp.Cmp_ID_PK =Aud.Audit_Company and Pla.Pl_ID_PK =Aud.Audit_Plant and Gr.G_ID_PK =Aud.Audit_Group and Ad_ID_PK in (select Ad_ID_PK from Audits) Now i want to edit these names. when i click on edit in gridview these names will be filled into textboxes and when i change the names it should compare the name with particular tables and should get the Id of that and store in Audits table. For example: i have this data in my audits table:
Commercial83312
2 2 2 1 Here Commercial83312 is ID of that Audit and 2,2,2,1 are the Industry,Company,Plant and group Ids for that particular audit. In the front end i can see the names of this particular IDs. when i edit the industry name in the UI it must check the name with industry table and get the ID of the changed name and store it in audit table. so the data may be changed in audits table as :
Commercial83312
4 2 2 1
so here the industry ID is changed I need the stored procedure for this. please help me,its very urgent...
