T-SQL (SS2K8) :: Pass Dates For Previous Months Start And End Date

Mar 16, 2015

I've SSRS sales report to which I need to pass the dates for previous month's start date and end date which I am able to pass using below code. However, since the sales report has data from the past year(2014) I need to pass the dates for last year as well. The below code gives StartDate1 as 2015-02-01 and EndDate1 as 2015-02-28. I need to get the dates for past year like 2014-02-01 as StartDate2 and 2014-02-28 as EndDate2

SELECT DATEADD(MONTH, DATEDIFF(MONTH, '19000201', GETDATE()), '19000101') AS StartDate1,
DATEADD(MONTH, DATEDIFF(MONTH, '19000101', GETDATE()), '18991231') AS EndDate1

How To Subtract Value At Previous Row From Current Row

Oct 1, 2006

Hi all,

I need help writing a query that will subtract the values of 2 rows from the same column to display in the result set. Some background information: a table has a sales column that keeps track of sales by the minute, but this is done in a cumulative manner, i.e, sales at row 3(minute 3) = sales recorded @ minute 2 plus sales @ minute 3. Therefor to get the actual sale at min 3, i would have subtract value at row 2 from row 3. make sense? it sounds very easy but I am having a hard time refering back to the previous row and am dealing with more than 1000 rows. i thought about doing a self join on the table but could not get it to do what i want.
would appreciate any help i can get. thanks

SQL Server 2008 :: Show Single Placement Dates As Start And End Date For Asset

May 24, 2015

I have a table called 'AssetPlacements' that shows the dates when certain objects (AssID) were placed at certain locations (LocID).

ID AssID LocID PlacementDate
1112015-05-01
2122015-05-06
3132015-05-09
4212015-05-03
5222015-05-07
6232015-05-11

I'd like to show the assets with a start date and end date for the placement of the asset.

The start date to be the placement date and the end date to be the next placement date of the asset.

Where there is no next placement date to then show the end date as the current date, so hopefully the table will show as the following.

ID AssID LocID StartDate EndDate
1112015-05-01 2015-05-06
2122015-05-06 2015-05-09
3132015-05-09 [GetDate()]
4212015-05-03 2015-05-07
5222015-05-07 2015-05-11
6232015-05-11 [GetDate()

I'm guessing some sort of recursion is required here to produce this.

How To Subtract Previous Value Of One Column From Current Value Of Another Column

Sep 7, 2006

I have a table like this:

Bottom Top

0 2

4 6.5

9 14

In Transact SQL I need to calculate the difference between the current bottom and the previous top. If there is no previous top, then the result would be the current bottom.

So, the result would be 0, 2, 2.5, 1

I must return the value in a table. Thank you all for your help!

Hey all, how do you take the current date and subtract a year from it in a SP?

What I want to do is...

Take the current date when the SP is ran, subtract a year, then if my date field is within that range (higher than the date with the subtracted year) it will continue in the query.

Edit: the answer is..

dateadd(yyyy, -1, getdate()) as Date1

The output comes like this:

01/01/2015
01/08/2015
01/15/2015

until end date

I do it through loop but just posting it here to know, if there is any other efficient way using CTEs or some sort of queries which can avoid loop in SP.

SQL Server 2008 :: Selecting Records Not Between 2 Dates

Jul 22, 2015

I’m trying to extract a list of records that don’t appear between 2 dates. I have 4 tables:

tblCustomers
tblMachines
tblServiceOrders
tblMachinesServiced

tblCustomers contains a CustomerID that is unique to each customer.

tblMachines contains a list of all machines with a MachineID that is unique to each machine. It also contains the CustomerID number.

tblServiceOrders contains a list of each time each customer was serviced. It contains the ServiceDate, CustomerID, and ServiceOrderNo. But it does not have any information on the machines.

tblMachinesServiced contains a list of each machine that was serviced for each service order. It contains the ServiceOrderNo and the MachineID number.

What I want is to be able to extract a list of machines that were not serviced between 2 dates. What I end up getting is a list of machines that were serviced outside of the date range I provide.

For instance, say machine A was serviced in 2013 and 2015 but not in 2014. And say machine B was serviced in all 3 years. When I try to extract my list of machines not serviced in 2014 I end up with a list that contains machine A-2013, A-2015, B-2013 & B-2015. But what I need is just machine A-2014, since that machine wasn’t serviced in 2014.

I’ve tried several different queries but here is an example:

SELECT tblMachines.MachineID,ServiceMachines.ServiceDate
FROM tblMachines
LEFT JOIN
(SELECT MachineID, ServiceDate FROM tblServiceOrders, tblMachinesServiced
WHERE tblServiceOrders.ServiceOrderNo=tblMachinesServiced.ServiceOrderNo
) ServicedMachines
ON tblMachines.MachineID=ServicedMachines.MachineID
WHERE YEAR(ServiceDate) != '2014'

I understand why it returns the records that it does, but I'm not sure how to get what I want, which is a list of machines not serviced in 2014.

108203492014-09-022015-06-30
208203492013-09-032014-09-01
308203492012-09-042013-09-02
408203492011-12-122012-07-03--not a continuous date range

For this id: 0793319, my beginning date is 2012-09-04

108203492014-09-022015-06-30

For this id: 0820349, my beginning date is 2014-09-02

To find continuous date, you look at the beginning date in row 1 and end date in row 2, then if no break in dates, row 2 beginning date to row 3 end date, if no break continue until last date There could multiple dates up to 12 which I have to check for "no break" in dates, if break, display beginning date of last continuous date.

How To Select All Dates Upto Todays Date And Include The First Next Future Date

Jan 11, 2006

hello
how can i select all dates upto todays date and include the first next future date in a given data base

say todays date was the 01/06/2006 (MM,DD,YYYY)

below is a mock data base
id date (MM,DD,YYYY)
1 01/02/2006
2 01/04/2006
3 01/06/2006
4 01/09/2006
5 01/20/2006

i want to select all dates equal or less that 01/06/2006 and include the first next future date .. and in this case it would be 01/09/2006

so the results would return

1 01/02/2006
2 01/04/2006
3 01/06/2006
4 01/09/2006
