SQL Server 2008 :: Huge Volume Of Records To Copy To Excel File Through SSIS

Oct 22, 2015

I am copying data from database to an excel file through SSIS. database is MS SQL 2005 and BIDS is also 2005.However, the job doing this task fails every time.As per investigation, the result of the query is more than 100,000 rows and we know that excel has a limit of 65000 rows of data.Is there a way of setting the limit up? or something? a better approach maybe so that everything will be copied to the excel file successfully.

The PrimeOutput method on component "Source - Query" (1) returned error code 0xC02020C4. The component returned a failure code when the pipeline engine called PrimeOutput(). The meaning of the failure code is defined by the component, but the error is fatal and the pipeline stopped executing. There may be error messages posted before this with more information about the failure. End Error Error: 2015-10-22 04:34:58.05 Code: 0xC0047021

Source: Data Flow Task
Description: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_THREADFAILED.

Thread "SourceThread0" has exited with error code 0xC0047038. There may be error messages posted before this with more information on why the thread has exited. End Error DTExec: The package execution returned DTSER_FAILURE (1). Started: 4:30:00 AM Finished: 4:35:05 AM Elapsed: 304.844 seconds. The package execution failed. The step failed. "

SQL Server 2008 :: SSIS Copy File From SharePoint Library Using File System Task Permissions?

Jun 19, 2015

Historically I've always written a VB script to copy a file from a sharepoint library. I don't like this method because I have to input a username & password in the script and maintain a config file.

Yesterday I was playing around with using a file system task. The sharepoint file has a UNC path so why not? I created a simple test package with a single file system task that copies the sharepoint file (addressed via UNC) to another network location. Package runs fine locally.

I try running on our utility server but am getting a "The file name [SHAREPOINT UNC PATH] specified in the connection was not valid" error. Package is running with a proxy on the server and the proxy account has the same permissions to the sharepoint site (so far as I can tell) as me.

SQL Server 2008 :: Excel File Name In Send Mail Task Using SSIS

Jun 1, 2015

I have a package which is creating a excel file 'ExcelName.xls' and storing in 'E:ReportingDelivered_Reports'. Now I have to attach this report using send mail task and send it to given mail id. To achieve this I have configured the send mail task and in Expression Builder, I have selected the below expression:

"E:ReportingDelivered_ReportsExcelName_"+
((DT_WSTR,4)Year(@[System::StartTime]))+
RIGHT("0"+((DT_WSTR,2)Month(@[System::StartTime])),2)+
RIGHT("0"+((DT_WSTR,2)Day(@[System::StartTime])),2)+".xls"

I need file name should be 'ExcelName_20150601' where suffix is the current date. But I recieve file which name is 'ExcelName', which is the original file name.

SQL Server 2008 :: Job To Delete All Records Then Copy All From Another Table?

Apr 22, 2015

I am using a SQL Server Agent jobs that run each morning to update the records in a table to match what they should be for that day. I built them and tested it using a test table called "testtable1". It worked fine. But when I switched over to our production table, it fails saying the table has to be decaled. What would be the difference. The production table has a "@" in front of the name, is that causing issues?

Loading Huge Volume Data

May 31, 2007

Hi Good morning to all,

My day started with loading huge volume of data and my data flow task failed to do so.

My data flow has a flat file connected to a OLEDB target. This is a one to one mapping. My source file contains 50 lac records and it is of 500 MB in size.

I'm processing the data with all the default buffer settings. I have 4 CPUs in my server.

the system process DTSDebug.exe is utilizing more than 2GB page size. My average CPU usage being 70% when one of those CPU s is hitting 100% utilization.

I'm very new to SSIS. So, please provide me some info how do i set my buffers and do we have any PDF for performance and tuning in SSIS ?

Do we have any bulk load transformation in SSIS to load into DB2UDB ?

If so how do i get it installed?

Thanks in advance,

Suresh N

SQL Server 2008 :: How To Copy Several Records From One Server To Another

Sep 11, 2015

I've got to copy several records (almost a 100) in a table from one instance of SQL Server 2008 R2, to another instance of SQL Server 2008 R2, but on a different server. The table structure is identical. I've searched online and found examples of doing a bulk insert into a table from a .CSV file. However I don't know of a way of exporting records to a .CSV file using a SELECT statement.

I've heard of linked servers, but at least as far as I know linking the server would require administrative privileges that I don't have on either machine.

SQL Server 2008 :: High Volume Reads And Writes?

We are in the process of moving existing clustered SQL server databases to AWS. There is one major database that has intensive reads and writes transactions. I'm wondering what is the best design to optimize the performance for both R/W since we have constant issues historically with the current environment when massive updates are happening. Reads shall have higher priority over writes.

HELP: How To Avoid Ridiculous System Resource Issues When Connecting To A Huge Excel File

Sep 20, 2007

Hi all,

I have a 400MB Excel file that I consume from another automated process (don't ask). I copy this file down locally to my server, and I am attempting to create an SSIS package that points to this file via a connection manager. My computer starts gobbling up massive amounts of memory (devenv.exe gets up to about 800MB or so, then drops back down to 100MB) even when I attempt to rename the connection in the connection managers tab.

I have set all BypassPrepare to TRUE and ValidateExternalMetadata properties to FALSE, and still it can take up to 3 to 6 minutes for BI Dev Studio to respond. My specs:

Intel Centrino Duo 2.00 GHz
2GB RAM
XP Pro SP2

There MUST be a way for me to work effectively on a file of this size. Please help! Thanks much for any assistance.

Sincerely,

Brian Pulliam

SQL Server 2008 :: Importing Excel File Stored In Sharepoint

Feb 23, 2015

I have an excel file that is stored in a sharepoint document library. I am trying to use SSIS to import it into a SQL database. I use the excel connection manager with a sharepoint UNC path. When I run it from BIDS, it runs successfully. When I run it from a job, I get an error

"It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view and write its data"

It is definitely not open by anyone else, and I have full permissions to the file. ALSO, the SQL Agent and Service acct which the job runs under, has full permissions to the file. I have tried running it under a proxy account with my user account, but it fails with the same message. Further, I can run a DIR command from a command prompt to list the sharepoint directory contents successfully, but when I run the same command from SSMS using xp_cmdshell, it fails with access denied. Again, the SQL Service acct has full rights to the sharepoint site.

I notice when i browse to the sharepoint document library and try to open the folder with "Open with Windows Explorer", it always asks me to login and I'm thinking that is related to the problem I am having - that it doesn't automatically pick up the windows authentication.

The SSIS package is run by SQL Server Agent and is set to run in 32bit mode.

I checked the data by loading in batches and all data loaded successfully. But the funny thing is when I run the same package on my local development PC using BIDS and the same data file. The package loads all 25000+ rows successfully.

Is there some setting that is preventing all rows loading in the server environment.

SQL Server 2008 :: Making Use Of A Large Transaction File To Delete Records?

Jun 5, 2015

Currently we has a database of size about 300G. Because our backup system failed some time past we were left with a transaction log file which grew to about 160G. However our backups are working again and everything is working fine. My understanding is that now the transaction log file is practically empty but the capacity remains at 160G.

When you delete records the deleted transactions are going to get logged to the transaction file. My understanding is when a backup is done these transactions get discarded out of the transaction file.

could I make use of this relatively large transaction file and start deleting transactions without out actually adding to the transaction file size.

The plan is to delete records from logging tables that are not referenced to by any other table without this increasing the transaction log file. For example over a period of a few weeks we can delete a chunk of records from a table. Then after it has completed a backup we can delete another chunk of records out of this table until we have got the table down to the records that we now need. Will this work?

SQL Server 2008 :: Setting To Not Rollback A Failed SSIS Package That Inserts 100 Million Records?

May 20, 2015

I have a pretty simple SSIS package that fast loads a 100 million record table into a SQL Server 2008 table on a daily basis. This normally runs fine and completes in about 1 hour. As this is perhaps one of our largest running SSIS packages, about once every 2-3 weeks this SSIS will fail/drop connection. Once it fails, the large number of records will start rolling back. This rollback process can take 1+ hours so I cannot even restart the failed SSIS package immediately. This is a problem.

I am looking for a solution or option so I do not have to wait on that rollback to restart this particular, long running SSIS package. Is there an option/setting to leave the partial data set committed and not rollback? Then I could just restart the SSIS package immediately or set it the SSIS to auto-restart 1 time on failure. The first step in the SSIS does a truncate of the destination table.

SQL Server 2008 :: Running WinSCP In SSIS Task / Bat File

Apr 29, 2015

I'm trying to call WinSCP in a SSIS Execute Process Task using a .bat file to automate. SSIS is returning a generic failure error message ("Error: 0xC0029151 at Execute Process Task, Execute Process Task: In Executing "MyServerC$Program Files (x86)WinSCPWinSCP.exe" "-script=MyNASShareWinSCPFTP.bat " at "", The process exit code was "1" while the expected was "0"."). So now I'm trying to run the .bat file by itself. Unfortunately, the command prompt rushes by so fast that I can't see what the server is doing.

I can't find anything on the WinSCP site that indicates how to slow down the .bat file processing or log the remote server responses. I do see how to use the /log switch when using the interactive command line console, but that's not what I want to do.

SQL 2005 And SQL 2008 Database Volume Capacity

Dec 1, 2007

Hi Everybody:

4 -5 years ago, I started my career as a translator translating the MetaTexis CAT (Computer Aided Translation Software).

It's amazing to see all the improvements that have been made until now, but recently I found some problems regarding
databases:

I heard that ACCESS databases volume is limited up to 2 GB and that SQL 2005 databases volume is limited up to 4 GB, but I think this information is wrong, or at least I was only able to import 10% of that amount.

Speaking in words, 2 GB doesn't represent a database with a volume of 125,000 segments/sentences (for ACCESS) and 4 GB a volume of 250,000 (for SQL 2005).

Concrete, my "mega.mxtm" database has "only" 359 MB and suddenly I refuses to import more sentences. Is that normal? (MICROSOFT SQL 2005)

Question: Is the new SQL 2008 also limited? Is there any way to "free" or increase the volume capacity?

Point 2: As I updated the SQL 2005 into 2008 I am not able to open the "old" "mega.mxtm" anymore... : (

Regards!
