Aug 6, 2015I have a balance sheet report developed and working. What I need to do is add the ability to click (or double-click) on a number and have a separate report (drill-down) open with the detail that makes up that number. I've researched drill-through reports, sub reports, etc. but can't find a way to do what I want.
I'm now thinking that I need to add custom code in the report properties, code window to do this. I'm hoping that there is a VB method I can use to call this report and pass a parameter. Pseudo-code for this function would look something like this: RunReport("DrillDownReport", "Parameter").
This seems like it should be pretty easy but I don't know what the function is in VB for running an SSRS report (if there is one).
Is this possible or am I barking up the wrong code tree?

May 22, 2015I need to create a script that adds an incrementing suffix to two columns, but restarts based on the value of another column. I found a similar question in the SQL Server 2000 forum, but it doesn't quite fit and also I'm working with SQL Server 2008 R2. The code below both creates a table with test data and tries to carry out the task. If you run this, you will see that the VISITNUM column has a value of UNS in row 4, UNS.1 in row 5 and UNS.2 in row 6. In row 7 it's V200, then in rows 8 and 9 it's UNS.3 for both. The same suffix gets applied to the VISIT column, but of course if I can solve this for VISITNUM then adding the suffix to VIST as well will be easy.
What I need is for row 8 to have UNS and row 9 to have UNS.1. In other words, any time the VISITNUM is UNS several times in a row, I need to add that ".X" suffix, but if a row has something other than UNS, I need to start over again the next time it's UNS again.

query is running well and data is coming correctly if I run this on Query designer.and date format must be YYYY-MM-DD.but when I try to run through on run time then the date control is showing format dd/mm/yyyy.
I change the regional settings of windows and SharePoint site to English(United States). and when I select date control it is also putting date in format like "YYYY-MM-DD'. and in that format report is working well in Query designer view.But on run time still it is not working.
SQL Server 2008 :: Setup Log Shipping From Log Shipped Database?
Mar 20, 2015We have log shipping for databases from production to back office (BO) environments for users to run reports. In preparation for moving a back office environment to a different server, we want to setup an addition log shipping environment, let’s call it BO2, same as the BO. One of the challenges we had was the amount of time it would take to get the full backup from production to BO2 due to the size of the database. It would take days just to transfer the full backup.
Solution:Let’s just say the database being logged shipped is DB123. Instead of using the full backup of DB123 from production, we use the mdf and ldf of DB123 from current log shipped database on the BO to setup the additional log shipping on BO2.
Steps:1.Setup the directory structure for the undo file (tuf) on the BO2 server same as the BO server.
Note: The undo can be moved to different drive after the log shipping is setup.
2.Stop SQL services on the BO server.
3.Copy the undo file (tuf), mdf, and ldf files of the log shipped database, DB123, from server BO to server BO2.
Note: Keep these files as main copies because they will be used multiple times. Do NOT copy files to where you’ll put the new database files.
4.After the files are copied, start SQL services on BO.
5.On the BO2 server, create an empty database DB123 with database name, file_id, logical names, physical names exactly the same as the ones on the BO server.
Note: Make the size of mdf and ldf small so it doesn’t take long to create the database.
6.Stop SQL Services on the BO2 server.
7.Overwrite the new mdf and ldf files of the empty database DB123 with the mdf and ldf files that were copied over from BO.
8.Start SQL services on BO2.
Note: If the file_id, logical names and physical names are not matching up, the database will be in suspect mode.
9.Do a backup of DB123 with COPY_ONLY.
10.Drop DB123 on BO2 after backup is complete.
11.Use the full backup from previous step to setup log shipping of DB123 on BO2.
Note: Below was the LiteSpeed syntax that was used

15.Replay transaction log from PRD
Note: You can change the location of the undo file by copy the current undo file to the new location and point to new location in “STANDBY” parameter. DO NOT do cut and paste of undo file but do copy and paste.
It works on Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (SP2) - 10.50.4033.0 (X64) . I have not tried it on SQL Server 2012 yet.
In steps that stop/start SQL services, you can bring the database offline/online.
In a way, this is doing detach/attach a log shipped database.

I have done everything to get pass this error but no luck.
My setup is :- WIndows 2003 Standared Edition SP1
Sql Server :-

Reporting Services starting SKU: Standard.
From the Reporting Services Configuration Manager:
I can see all other things configured except Encryption Keys(blue sign)
Initialization(Grey sign) and Execution Acct(Yellow sign)
My windows Service Identity is using :
NT AuthorityNetworkService
Builtin Acct :NetworkService
Web Service Identity :-
ASP.NET Service Acct :- NT AuthorityNetworkService
DataBase Setup :- Credentials Type :- Service Credentials

When I trying to configure Reposrting services in IIS & XP. It hsows me error
"The report server is not responding. Verify that the report server is running and can be accessed from this computer."
I also configure with reposrting configuration tools which show all confuguration is perfect.
but when I try to open through IE http://localhost/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx
or http://localhost/Reportserver
It shows error. I try all ways still not works ..Help me out

Oct 3, 2015i just kicked off a job that starts a data driven subscription that generates ~200 excel spreadsheets.
I kind of expected them to appear in the execution log, and that the TimeEnd would reflect when they complete.
instead, it appears that the TimeEnd is when the SQLcommand finished executing, ie, a few milliseconds after the start.
it does not reflect when the report finishes completing; if i run sp_whoisactive, i see a stack of reports at a time clawing their way through the process. (ie i see calls to [CreateChunkStatement] and all the other steps a report kicks off.
Other than watching execution requests, how can i know if anything is running as far as subscriptions go?

Apr 29, 2015I'm trying to call WinSCP in a SSIS Execute Process Task using a .bat file to automate. SSIS is returning a generic failure error message ("Error: 0xC0029151 at Execute Process Task, Execute Process Task: In Executing "MyServerC$Program Files (x86)WinSCPWinSCP.exe" "-script=MyNASShareWinSCPFTP.bat " at "", The process exit code was "1" while the expected was "0"."). So now I'm trying to run the .bat file by itself. Unfortunately, the command prompt rushes by so fast that I can't see what the server is doing.
I can't find anything on the WinSCP site that indicates how to slow down the .bat file processing or log the remote server responses. I do see how to use the /log switch when using the interactive command line console, but that's not what I want to do.

I understand current procedure but have a question wether I can do full normal backups of my database server without screwing up my Log Shipping process? Mar 24, 2012I recently enabled log shipping on our production database, and I had initially accepted the default of 72 hours to delete copied logs. Well, i am running out of space quick, and I need to edit it to something like 6 hours.
When I try to disable log shipping in order to recreate it, or if I try to edit the secondary server settings when I am logged in as SA, or my windows account which has the sysadmin role assigned, I get an error that says:
Only members of the sysadmin fixed server role can perform this operation. Error 21089.
I've restarted the sql service, disabled and enabled the permission on my account, but for the life of me, i cannot get this to work!

After I start the Report Server Windows service using the Report Services Configuration tool I can access the 2005 Report Manager without errors. The windows service start up type is set to automatic.

Jun 4, 2012Trying to get a report to run daily between certain hours. I can set a start time and an "end date" in Report Manager, but as far as I can tell, I can't say run hourly every day from X to Y. am I missing something?
If this isn't doable from RS, can I just find the associated job in the Agent and change the schedule of that job?
SQL Server 2008 :: SSRS Subscription For A Report
Jun 10, 2015I'm trying to create a subscription for a report.
I have few parameters (Query based parameter) in my report.
As you can see in the attached print screen, some of the parameter I can set in the subscription and some I can not.

I have to try Report Designer Preview and i have to make a demo for a client.
I have 2 problems.
* We need Report Designer Preview to be the end-user Report Maker Tool. But, it doesn't have the Query Designer and the MDX Query Designer. In future version of MSSQL2008, is it integrated ?
* We work with MOSS 2007 and i just want to know if it's possible to deploy directy from Report Designer Preview to a Sharepoint with Reporting Services in Integrated Mode.
If it's not, is it preview to have it ? and when ?
