We are trying to upgrade a SQL server 2000 to a SQL 2008 R2 (SP1) server. After migrating, the developer test code, and got an error: ERROR [HY010] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Function sequence error...But this is a release for 2008, ours is already 2008 R2 SP1, so that hot fix should already be included since it is always cumulative.
I am getting an error (number -2147217887, error message "ODBC--call failed.") when I try to execute an rst.Update. I have an MS Access 2013 application using an ODBC connection to SQL Server 2008 r2. I am using a query to update a table. It is a simple Select query with no joins. I have checked to make sure the table can be updated.
I was not sure if there were any special permissions that I need to set to allow a linked table to be updated in MS Access this way?
Am using sql 2000 to store data in the greek language. Using delphi built program to enter the data. The delphi program communicates with sql server via the ODBC connection I created. When I type in above 150 characters in a varchar column that can hold 600, the message (odbc manager - function sequence error) appears and does not allow me to save. However if I type in the english language, it saves without a problem. Here's the strange one-- if I type very very slowly in the greeek language it will save! Am using Windows XP english version.
Any ideas? I have spent above a month on this one!!
While running the below query, getting the error: Am I missing any of the columns to include in the SELECT column_list?
Msg 8120, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Column 'sys.master_files.database_id' is invalid in the select list because it is not contained in either an aggregate function or the GROUP BY clause.
<code> select a.[Database Name],a.[Type],a.[Size in MB],b.LastUserUpdate from ( SELECT database_id,[Database Name]= DB_NAME(database_id), [Type]= CASE WHEN Type_Desc = 'ROWS' THEN 'Data File(s)' WHEN Type_Desc = 'LOG' THEN 'Log File(s)' ELSE Type_Desc END ,
In my asp.net project there are about 100 drop down list.I created a table to store data for drop down list in which including [DropdownID],[Order Sequence] and [Description] three columns. The sample like below. Data was input manually by a user. How to code to find out duplicate [OrderSequence]?
Requirements • ALPHANUMERIC FORMAT – > AA00AA00………..ZZ99ZZ99 Last 8 bytes will alternate between 2 byte alpha/2 byte numeric • Generate from Alphabets – A through Z Numbers -0 to 9 • Generate Unique Sequence (No Duplicates). • Must Eliminate letters I and O
Output Expected • AA00AA00………..ZZ99ZZ99 • Using 24 alphabets & 10 digits , 24*24*10*10*24*24 = 3 317 760 000 records
Below is my Sql Function -
CREATE function [dbo].[SequenceComplexNEW] ( @Id BIGINT ) Returns char(8)
I need to create a function that will return a sequence number. The reason I need this to be a function is that I will use the function to create a view. In Oracle I would do something like this:
create sequence seq;
create or replace function f return number as l_seq number; begin select seq.nextval into l_seq from dual; return l_seq; end; /
create or replace view v as select f from dual;
Since Sql Server does not have a sequence object I have created a sequence table with a identity column and a procedure that inserts a dummy variable and returns the identity id. This works ok but to get my sequence number I must declare a variable, execute the procedure and select the return value. I need the procedure to be a function so that I can use it to create my view. Since I cannot use DML in a function and I cannot call a procedure from a function I am stuck. Do I have to create an extended procedure ? Any help is appreciated
On localhost this application works fine but when I put on remote server. I am getting following errors. For both localhost and server, I am using same remote sql 2000. I will appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Arif

If I define a table-valued function in a SQL Server 2005 database, can I link to it from Access 2003 using ODBC?
I've defined the function successfully, and I can link from Access to tables in the database (so my ODBC link is basically functioning), but I can't see the table-valued function in the Linked Table Manager in Access.
I can define a pass-through query to grab the table, but with a pass-through query I have to provide the ODBC password every time.
I am trying to use get date function, I want dates of my column in between, first of this month and first of the previous month, at this moment the expected result would be: (09/01/2015 and 10/01/2015)..
Seems like it would involve datediff and dateadd both...
Recently I have come across a requirement where i need to design a table.
There are some columns in table like below with DECIMAL Datatype:
BldgLength
BldgHeight
BldgWeight
Based on my knowledge, i know that values before Floating-Point will not be more than 4 digits.
Now as per MSDN,
Precision => 1 - 9 Storage bytes => 5
so i can create column as:
BldgLengthDECIMAL(6,2) DEFAULT 0
OR
BldgLengthDECIMAL(9,2) DEFAULT 0
Now while reading some articles, i came to know that when we do some kind of operation like SUM Or Avg, on above column then result might be larger than current data type.
So some folks suggested me that i should keep some extra space/digits considering above MATH functions, to avoid an Arithmetic Over Flow error.
So my question is what should be value of DataType for above column ?
I have to figure out the items that Legal Name implies individual but Legal Entity Structure indicates a incorporation type. In this sample, you can see Alexander, Justin N. is my target. But my problem is how should I use a query to figure out which one is a individual's name? How should I write a function to check the name format (Last, First Middle)?
Legal Name ////////////////////////////////////// Legal_Entity_Struct
S & H Farm Supply, Ltd.////////////////////////////Company F.M.Abbott Power Equipment,Co.///////////////Company Ray's Dixie Chopper, Inc.////////////////////////// Company Alexander, Justin N. ///////////////////////////////// Company Alameda Power Equipment, Inc.//////////////// Company
I have created the below function and apply it on a column in a table to replace the below identified values with Blank. It works fine but i have so many different varieties of values i need to add to ths list. Is there any way i insert these values in a table and call the values from that table instead of writing separate SET Statements.
CREATE FUNCTION [dbo].[sv_ReplaceChar] (@badString varchar(8000)) RETURNS VARCHAR(8000) AS BEGIN
I'm unable to reproduce the error. when they upgrade their OS and SQL EXPRESS to a more recent version the error disappears.
The error is: Incorrect syntax near '.'
the query in question resembles this:
Select column1, column2 from Table1 T cross apply function(t.column4,t.column5) F where column3 = 'XXXX'
I made sure that the compatibility level is greater than 90 this error is happening on SQL2005 SP2 as well as SQL2008 with SP2 (but not all clients are suffering from the same problem)
Can it be the .net framework? Although the machines had .net framework 3.52.
Can the OS be an issue? The OS' seem to be old, Windows Server 2008 SP2
I've tried to reproduce the error by setting up virtual machines with same OS and SQL but, again, can't reproduce.
CREATE TABLE OrderRanking ( OrderID INT IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, CustomerID INT, OrderDate date ) INSERT OrderRanking (CustomerID, OrderDate)
[Code] ...
Looks fine but what I need is DRP with this:
CustomerID OrderDate 'DRP taking care of the gap in the days' 1 '01-01-2015' 1 1 '01-01-2015' 1 2 '02-01-2015' 1 2 '02-01-2015' 1 2 '05-01-2015' 4 2 '05-01-2015' 4
I have a recursive CTE on an inline table valued function. I need to set the MAXRECURSION option on the CTE, but SQL Server is complaining with "Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'OPTION'".
It works fine on non-inline function. I couldn't find any documentation indicating this wasn't possible.
I can use the MAXRECURSION option in call to the function
SELECT * FROM MyFunction () OPTION ( MAXRECURSION 0 )
but that means that the user needs to know the "MyFunction" uses recursive CTE, which defeats the purpose of the abstraction.
When our administrators login on the workstation the application works well. But when ordinary users login they get the following error. (We only have 1 domain)
SQLState: 28000
SQL Server Error: 18452
Login failed for user ". The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.
Then the standard SQL Server Login window pops up asking for the Login ID and Password. On the window the 'Use Trusted Connection' is checked and the name of the user on the workstation appears on the LoginID. What we do is uncheck the 'Use Trusted Connection' then login using the credentials above.
I have a ASP.Net application. I'm trying to access access data using SQL Server my web config has <add key="connectionString" value="DRIVER={Sql Server};Server=(local);initial catalog=ymquizco_registration;User ID=sa;pwd=test"/> MY CONNECTION STRING HAS THIS VALUE "DRIVER={Sql Server};Server=localhost;initial catalog=ymquizco_registration;User ID=sa;pwd=test" But the conn.Open();is throwing this error: {"ERROR [28000] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Login failed for user 'WORK\ASPNET'. ERROR [01S00] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Invalid connection string attribute ERROR [28000] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Login failed for user 'WORK\ASPNET'. ERROR [01S00] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Invalid connection string attribute" } My SQL Server is configured at mixed mode authentication. This seems like a install issue. Can someone think of something.
When trying to access an ASP page connecting to a SQL database, I receive the following error from the driver
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Create of work table failed because the row size would be 3697. This exceeds the maximum allowable size of a row in a table, 2014.
I can't remember if one of the sp_configure options handles this or not. Can anyone refresh my memory?
I am getteing need help Query analyzer error Unable to connect server local Msg17, level 16,state 1 ODBC SQL server driver [DBNETLIB]SQL server does not exist
Dear all,On Win2000 server with SP3, I am trying to access a SQL Server 7.0database, "TestDB", from VB6 via a SQL Server ODBC system DSN using ADO2.7. In SQL Server Enterprise Manager, there is a login named "Tester".In its property window, NO "Server Roles" was assigned but its"Database Access" was set to "TestDB". This login was also made as theuser of "TestDB" with "public", "db_datareader" and "db_datawriter"selected as its "Database role membership". All the tables I am tryingto access in "TestDB" were created under "Tester".My code is like:Set conn = New ADODB.Connectionconn.Open "DSN=TestDSN;UID=Tester;PWD=test"Set cmd = New ADODB.Commandcmd.ActiveConnection = conncmd.CommandText = SQLset rs = cmd.Execute()If I set the SQL to something like "SELECT * FROM tbl_test", I alwaysget an error of "-2147217865" saying "[Microsoft][ODBC SQL ServerDriver][SQL Server] Invalid object name tbl_test". If I set the SQL to"SELECT * FROM Tester.tbl_test", everything runs properly. Could anyoneplease kindly advise why the first SQL is not working? Or in otherwords, why must I prefix the table name with its owner while the DBconnection is already made under that owner name? Thanks in advance.Tracy
I am trying to connect SQL server7.0 through ODBC 3.5,when i tried to create DSN ,i am getting below error message.I added alias with server name as IP Address in client network utility,But no use.I tried to connect through query analyzer but no use. ( Client M/c and Sql Servers are on T1 network)
** But i am able to connect through ISQL
I am not understanding why i am not able to connect through ODBC and query analyzer. Can some one help me in this.

I have a problem with ODBC Driver for SQL Server 6.5. The user always receive the following message in client machine when try to access the application : "08S01 : [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Communication link failure".
Hi, When Iam browsing my website, It showing an error:
Error Type: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80040E37) [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Invalid object name 'tbl_Users'. (this is the table name)
I am experiencing the following error in a server 2003 and SQL 2005 environment. I don't know much about SQL, and any help would be appreciated. I have been told to look at the ODBC, as well as several items in SQL. But alas I have not been able to do much with it. Software program was purchased and support for the system is extremely limited.
Here is the error:
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Could not find server 'insert server name' in sysservers. Execute sp_addlinkedserver to add the server in sysservers.
