SQL Server 2008 :: Pulling Daily Total From Cumulative Total
Jun 28, 2015
I have a table that writes daily sales each night but it adds the day's sales to the cumulative total for the month. I need to pull the difference of todays cumulative total less yesterdays. So when my total for today is 30,000 and yesterday's is 28,800, my sales for today would be 1,200. I want to write this to a new field but I just can't seen to get the net sales for the day. Here is some sample data. For daily sales for 6-24 I want to see 2,000, for 6-25 3,000, 6-26 3,500, and 6-27 3,500. I'm thinking a case when but can't seem to get it right.
Creating a burn down chart using a running total of cumulative hours with the following formula:
CumulativeHoursLeft:=CALCULATE ( Â Â Â SUM('Projects'[Budget hours]) - SUM ( 'hours'[Hours] ), Â Â Â FILTER ( Â Â Â Â Â Â Â ALL ( 'hours'[Date] ), Â Â Â Â Â Â Â 'hours'[Date] <= MAX ('hours'[Date]) Â Â Â ) )
Works great except that in a Line Chart using [Date] as the Axis and CumulativeHoursLeft as the value, I get these spikes on days for which the employee reported no hours. I do know what exactly the measure is doing in this instance and I do not get this in a table, those dates simply do not appear. I have tried both Categories and Continuous for the Line Chart. I have also tried filtering where [Date] is not blank.how to get rid of the spikes?
Is it possible to assign to a variable, then add to it later on? Â When I run the below, all I get is 3 rows affected I never see the value printed. Â What i am wanting to do is each loop sum the numbers so 2+1+3 =6 so in the end @sumofallnumbers = 6 Create Table #Test ( randarnumbers int ) Insert Into #Test Values ('2'), ('1'), ('3') Declare @sumofallnumbers int, @nbr int Declare c1 Cursor For Select randarnumbers FROM #Test
I am building a query. I have a table with 4 columns and need to try and put the times together. There are some inconsistencies with this, and i'm hoping to exclude them.. Here is a sample table:
Function 1 = Clock In Type 1 Function 2 = Clock Out Type 1 Function 3 = Clock In Type 2 Function 4 = Clock Out Type 2
Basically what I need to do is take the time from rows with Function 1 and match it with Function 2 so I can get a total time of the clock in. Function 3 rows need to match up with Function 4 rows so I can get another set of total times. There may be more clock in rows then clock out rows or more clock out rows then clock in rows, and there may be multiple clock ins & outs per day per employee. I'm basically trying to get totals for each Clock In/Out type.
I'd like to get the column ID_NumofAttach to be populated by the total number of ID_Attachlevel column by the same ID_BegAttach or ID_EndAttach and populate where ID_Attachlevel is 0.
Does anyone know how I can determine the number of page writes that have been performed during a set period of time? I need to figure out the data churn in that time period.
Very new to SQL and trying to get this query to run. I need to sum the total trips and total values as separate columns by day to insert them into another table.....
My code is as follows;
Insert Into [dbo].[CombinedTripTotalsDaily] ( Year, Month, Week, DayNo, Day, Trip_Date,
I haven't a clue how to accomplish this. All the data is in one table. The data is stored by registration dateand includes county and number of students brokne out by grade.Any help appreciated!Rob
I have created a Report using Visual studio-the report displays a subreport within it.
On the Subjective Report I have 12 values for each month of the year.
For the first month the value is =sum(Fields! Month_1.Value), and I have named this text box €™SubRepM1€™ The name of the subreport is €˜subreport1'.
On my Main Report, again I have 12 values for each month of the year. For the first month the value is =sum(Fields! Month_1.Value)*-1, and I have named this text box 'MainRepM1' The name of the main report is 'GMSHA Budget Adjustment Differentials'
The report displays both of the subreport and main report values but I now need to total these values together for each month in order to produce a grand total.
I have tried using the following to add the totals for Month 1 together, =subreport1.Report.SubRepM1 + MainRepM1 but this does not work and I get the following error message €˜The value expression for the text box 'textbox18'contains an error [BC30451] Name subreport1 is not declared'.
I feel that it should be a simple matter of adding the two sets of values together but I€™m having major problems trying to get these totals to work.
We are trying to compare our current calendar week (based on Monday being the first day of the week) with the previous calendar week.Â
I'm trying to produce a line chart with 2 axis:
- x axis; the day of the week (Mon, Tues, Wed etc - it is fine for this to be a # rather than text e.g. 1 = Mon, 2 = Tues etc) - y axis; the cumulative number of ordersÂ
The chart needs two series:
Previous Week. The running count of orders placed that week. Current Week. The running count of orders placed this week.Â
Obviously in such a chart the 'Current Week' series is going not going to have values along the whole axis until the end of the week. This is expected and the aim of the chart is to see the current week compares against the previous week for the same day.Â
I have two tables:
Orders TableCalendar Table
The calendar table's main date column is [calDate] and there are columns for the usual [calWeekNum], [calMonth] etc.Â
My measure for counting orders is simply; # Orders: = countrows[orders].
How do I take this measure and then work out my two series. I have tried numerous things such as adapting TOTALMTD(), following articles such as these:
-Â [URL] ... -Â [URL] ...
But I have had no luck. The standard cumulative formulas do work e.g. if I wanted a MTD or YTD table I would be ok, it's just adjusting to a WTD that is causing me big issues.
Anyone has a "one sql statement" to get the total spaceused and totalspace allocated of an instance ? ie same as sum of relevance fieldsfrom sp_spaceused for each database in an instance, that works accrossversion of mssql from 6 onward.ThanksKD
I have a table named Prescription that consists of attributes like PatientId, MedicineCode, MedicineName, Prices of different drugs, quantity of different drugs(e.g 1,2,3,10), date .
I would like to get a summary of the total number and amount of different drugs in a specific period, the total amount of each type of drug.
I am trying to create a report on some data. I have about 8 tables and 30+ queries attached to those 15 reports. In one of those reports I want to get the percentage based on the data in the tables and queries. Say I have the minimum hours for an employee as 176 hours and the employee works for 227 hours in a month. I want to see the result in percentage.
My report looks something like this :
ID Name Oct Nov Dec Jan Feb March Total 001 alex 87.6% 104.1% 65.1% 50.2% 85.6% 002 Linda 87.4% 109.1% 68.1% 35.2% 90.8% 003 Jon 87.6% 104.1% 004 alex 87.6% 104.1% 65.1% 50.2% 85.6% 005 Linda 87.4% 109.1% 68.1% 35.2% 90.8%
For the 002 ID, though he has worked for Nov and Dec the total % is blank.
The formula that I used for all of these entries is :
=IIf(IsError([total]),"",[total])
and for the month it is : =IIf(IsError([Oct]),"",[oct]), nov and so on.
It works fine for all, but where ever there is blank in one field it doesn;t calculates for the others too..
I have a report which totals sales by customer. Then table footer has a grand total of all customer sales. I would like to get a percent of each customer's sales against the total sales. How do I get the sum from the table footer to use in an individual customer row?
get Running Total in SQL Server.I found that new OVER clause.
SELECT CompanyId ,IMNId ,RowNumber ,Sum(Qty) OVER(ORDER BY CompanyId, IMoneyNetId, RowNumber ROWS UNBOUNDED PRECEDING) As CumulativeShareQty2 From#ReportData WhereSequenceNumber <> 3 Group by CompanyId ,IMNId ,RowNumber
But somehow i get below error, when i try to run above query:
Msg 8120, Level 16, State 1, Line 957 Column '#ReportData.Qty' is invalid in the select list because it is not contained in either an aggregate function or the GROUP BY clause.
I'm in a slightly sticky situation. I recently got a job I interviewed for as a business analyst/programmer. I know quite a bit of VB 6.0 and SQL language, also enough access to build a decent database as a backend for my apps. I've recently received a 4 yr CIS degree, so I know a little about everything. I told them very clearly three times in the interview that I'd never built a SQL Server DB, but they must not have cared about that. They need someone who can program, do some DB work, and also do some business analysis. I was the best fit they could find.
After working with the group a few days, I figured out they need a data warehouse and marts to do some historical analysis, and eventually data mining and trend analysis, etc. I think they said they'd like to have that by the end of next year.
What I need now is one or two really great books to get started with, and a small synopsis on what I'm going to need as far as dev software and server specifics to get this thing off the ground. The first thing they would like to see is simply enough tables to dump data into from 4 or 5 different DBs, from which they can pull data for analysis whenever they need to do so. The total rows for this DB will be around 170mil, but with just a few measures in each row. Microsoft spreadsheet says I should expect about 5gig per year of data.
So I'm freaking out because I know ziltch about SQL Server, what tools and server set up I'm going to need, and the more I read, the less it sounds like "Oh it's not that big of a deal. It's easy", as a few friends told me.
My query is pulling to many records becuase of the last join. This table can have multiple registration files for a computer. I just want the latest one or last one insert which is based on dttRegistration. I thought a top 1 select and order by would do it, but now returns no computer names.
Hello, Is there a maximum total of columns that SQL Server 2005 limits? I have a rather lengthy import file in regards to column count, and was wondering if there was a total number of columns that a table is limited to. Thanks.
Hi, I want to create a web application which will give the information of the total databases in a server or local machine. also I want to know about the number of tables, its properties in each databases. Pls help me.
Currently avalaible editions of SQL Server Express are built from 4 main components (database engine & client components, advanced services, management studio and business inteligence developement sudio). To get full functionality I have to install 2 procucts - SQL Server Express with Advanced Services and SQL Server Express Toolkit. Do you plan to release "total" edition of SQL Server Express with all components included?
I need to get a cumulative total for row by row basis. I need this grouped on name, id, year and month. ID is not a auto incremented number. ID is a unique number same as name. The out put I need is as below,
Name    ID    Year  Month Value RunningValue XX        11    2013 Jan     25         25 xx         11    2013 Feb     50         75 yy         22     2015  Jan    100       100 yy         22     2015  Mar    200       300
How I could get this query written? I am unable to use SQL Server 2012 version syntaxes. Writing a cursor would slow the process down because there is a large data set.
Table A has day to day transactions, Table B has beginning balance. I'd like to get a running total balance day to day. Really what I want to do is use the previous days total to add the current days transaction to, but I don't know how to do it. The basic layout is below, but as you can see, I'm not getting the totals correct.
create table #current(acctNum int, dates date, transtype char(10), amt INT ) insert into #current(acctNum, dates, transtype, amt)
Trying to get a report to run daily between certain hours. I can set a start time and an "end date" in Report Manager, but as far as I can tell, I can't say run hourly every day from X to Y. am I missing something?
If this isn't doable from RS, can I just find the associated job in the Agent and change the schedule of that job?
What I need to do it select the top 80 percent of records per group based on the group total. To be clear I am not trying to just grab the top x percent of rows.
Table 1 has the total number of repair orders per dealer. This can be obtained by simply grouping on DealerID and counting the number of RepairIDs.
Table 2 has information on some of the repair orders and it is needed to select the top 80% of tire sizes. This table will be joined to Table 1 and grouped by DealerID and Tire.
