May 20, 2015i have a url that opens my report with no entries in the parameters i then add &Search=96200 at the end of the URL and still the parameter is blank

From a aspx page I was able to Pass values (valid values) for the parameters to SSRS report 2005 which uses OLAP cube as datasource and got back the expectd result. but when I pass value other than a valid value i am getting ERROR message. do we always have to pass valid values only? any help is greatly appreciated.

This works no problem. but.. I want to have the user parameter "Craig" be a parameter passed in from the web app. If it were a regular SQL data source you would put @user in the query. How do you do it with XML text queries?

Jun 17, 2015I am trying to test the concept of passing multi value parameters from one report using the Action Property of a textbox to open another report is a new Window with the Multi Value parameter values already passed. The test involves the following:
Report 1:
1. Multi Value Parameter @ReportParameter1 has three Values: Value1, Value2, Value3
2. Has a text box with the Action Property set to Go to URL with the following Expression:

Report 2:

Does not have any default Values.
When I click on the textbox on Report1, it does navigate to Report2 but none of the Values are being set.

Software Details:
Datawarehouse Database - SQL Server 2008 R2
Reporting Services Version - SSRS 2008 R2
Development Environment - Visual Studio 2008
Problem Details:
I have been writing reports based of a Relational Datamart with dimensions and facts. The report in question uses dimensions for parameters and facts for content. Multi valued parameters are enabled in the report query by using the 'IN(@Paramenter)' statement within the report query. It has a total of 6 multi-value parameters. I assign the same available values from dimension datasets for each parameter to it's default parameter. Theoretically all the values in the option lists should be selected after first render. This is not always the case.
Example:
SELECT *
FROM dbo.MyTable
WHERE
TableColumn0 IN (@Parameter0)
AND
TableColumn1 IN(@Parameter1)
AND ....N (continue syntax to 6 multi valued parameters)
Some of the multi-value drop down lists are defaulting to have every value selected, and some are not. The problem is I need to know why some parameters are not selecting all by default when specified.

I am using query which I created with CAML.
query is running well and data is coming correctly if I run this on Query designer.and date format must be YYYY-MM-DD.but when I try to run through on run time then the date control is showing format dd/mm/yyyy.
I change the regional settings of windows and SharePoint site to English(United States). and when I select date control it is also putting date in format like "YYYY-MM-DD'. and in that format report is working well in Query designer view.But on run time still it is not working.
Reporting Services :: SSRS 2008 R2 Cascading Parameters - Visible Only When Certain Criteria Previously Selected
Oct 22, 2015I am creating a report where there are 3 tables in one report which have visibility set as an expression so that when a certain criteria is selected in the "Report" parameter, a different table is shown below. This works as expected.
When table 3 is shown, I want a new parameter to be visible to the user called "Ward" where the user will select the ward they are interested in and the table will display data below just for the ward selected. However, I don't want the ward parameter visible when either of the other 2 options are selected. Is this possible and how to do this?
Passing Report Parameters To An SSRS 2005 Report Hosted In Sharepoint 2007
Nov 18, 2007Here is a situation in my company:
We have an Office SharePoint 2007 site, we developed a couple of web parts and added them to our site. We used SQL Server Reporting services 2005 as our reporting solution. The reports are hosted on the report center and when we need a report, we open it by sending a URL requesting the report, passing the report parameters in the URL query string. So the report is filtered based on the parameters passed from the web parts.
But since best practices say that you should host reports directly under SharePoint, by configuring the reporting services to run in the SharePoint integrated mode. We followed the steps and installed SharePointRS and we finally succeeded to publish the reports to a SharePoint folder, but we had a limitation: we are unable to pass the report parameters internally to the report hosted in SharePoint. If we passed them in the query string as the report center case, SharePoint neglects them totally.
So the question is: how can I pass parameters internally between a SharePoint web part and a SQL server 2005 reporting services report hosted in SharePoint?

Sep 16, 2015I am trying to develop a report from cube,and it has one drill through report.when i click on sales amount field on main report,then it open the drill through report with details.Here i passed the **(category,subcat,product)parameters(Cascaded)** to drill through report in action part of main report.In my main report i have two columns .
columns are **Level** and **Salesamount**.
Values are like
**[-]category** **100**
**[-]subcat** **50**
**product** **30**
when i click on 100, parameters are passed & it open the detail report correctly, but when i click on 50,the values for subcat parameter is not getting values in detail report and same as the product also.
Here i used the expressions in parameter values

Reporting Server - Passing Parameters Programtically
Jun 28, 2007We've developed several reports where you can type in / select variables and run them, affecting their outcomes.
We'd like to change this so if the user clicks on a link from our Intranet, this takes them straight to the report with the appropriate parameter(s) - rather like the "jump to report" function within a report - i.e. the url for that function...
Is this possible?

SQL Server 2008 :: Passing Empty TVPs
Oct 15, 2015I have an inline table valued function (function1) where I need to call another inline function which requires 4 TVPs (function2).
Unfortunately, given the limitations of my php calling program I cannot pass a TVP to function1. How can I make that call to function2 (using empty TVPs) from function1 without putting any TVP parameters on function1?
I could do this by creating a multistatement wrapper function that declares the empty tables and passes them to function1, but I was trying to avoid doing this. Is there any other way?

Mar 13, 2015I am building a generic SSIS where it takes a text source file and converts to a destination source file . However in the process I want to set the row delimiter and the column delimiter dynamically through the package variable. So that I can use it for any file transfer.
I saw the option for row delimiter in the file connection string property but did not see any column delimiter option.

As you can see the Geo field is null (which is of type Geography), what I'm trying to do is populate that with an update statement by comparing the latitude and longitude for each row so I can then work out the distance, I've been following this tutorial to workout the distance which is giving me the desired results

The issue I have is passing in the points i.e latitude and longitude and then updating the Geo field for the row, I currently have 11938 rows in my DB so I need to run this against all of them. I thought I had it I was thinking of update then select from the source but then I realized I need to pass the lat and long in for the points and that's where I got confused

May 25, 2015I have a SSISpackage which have 10 execute sql tasks, which loads data into the 10 tabales. Using these 10 tables, I load data into 2 tables. These 2 tables are using to generate reports using SSRS. So we have creatad SSRS package which will generate report. So here what we are doing is we are loading data into those (10+2) tables. then running that report manually and sending that created excel report manully. Can we achieve this using SSIS only, so once data loaded into those 2 reporting table it will start generating reports. How do we achieve using SSRS?

However, the way I want it to work is for the user to go to a particular URL, and depending on whether the URL is, say, .fr for France, or .uk for the UK, it will recognize the URL and render the report in the correct language.The problem is, in testing, I've been trying to use the global &ReportServerURL but it does not seem to work.
Do I take it, then, when I put the report live, it will not recognize the URL that appears in the browser, and so won't be able to tell whether the URL is .fr or .uk and so forth?

Sep 12, 2007Is it possible to write SSRS 2008 reports to run on an existing SSRS 2005 server?
If yes, what do I need to do to be able to write SSRS 2008 reports on my developer PC that will run on the SQL 2005 Server (which also has SSRS 2005 installed on it)?
I installed Visual Studio 2008 beta on the development PC and it appears that it needs SSRS installed on it too. So I installed SQL 2008 SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) and SQL 2008 Workstation Components onto the developer PC. Next I run the SQL 2008 "Reporting Services Configuration" tool. When I click on the "Web Service URL" section it hangs indefinitely and I have to force it closed.
The developer PC is Windows Vista Business.
Any suggestions on making this work, or any other information that you can think of that would allow me to use Visual Studio 2008 and the SQL 2008 "Report Designer Preview" tool to develop SSRS reports that will run on the SQL 2005 SSRS server?

Oct 3, 2015i just kicked off a job that starts a data driven subscription that generates ~200 excel spreadsheets.
I kind of expected them to appear in the execution log, and that the TimeEnd would reflect when they complete.
instead, it appears that the TimeEnd is when the SQLcommand finished executing, ie, a few milliseconds after the start.
it does not reflect when the report finishes completing; if i run sp_whoisactive, i see a stack of reports at a time clawing their way through the process. (ie i see calls to [CreateChunkStatement] and all the other steps a report kicks off.
Other than watching execution requests, how can i know if anything is running as far as subscriptions go?

Feb 12, 2015I have a SSRS report using 2008 R2. It prompts the user for the start and end dates. This all works. But now I want the start date parm to default to the first day of the current month and the end date parm to default to the last day of the current month.In the new query window in SQL Server Management Studio, I can run this chunk of code to get the first day of current month:
SELECT DATEADD(MONTH, DATEDIFF(MONTH, 0, GETDATE()), 0)
And this code to get the last day of current month:
SELECT DATEADD(DAY, -(DAY(DATEADD(MONTH, 1, GETDATE()))),
DATEADD(MONTH, 1, GETDATE()))
But I don't know how to do this in SSRS 2008. How can I make my start / end parms to get these values.

SQL Server 2008 :: Running (sub-report) In SSRS From Custom Code?
Aug 6, 2015I have a balance sheet report developed and working. What I need to do is add the ability to click (or double-click) on a number and have a separate report (drill-down) open with the detail that makes up that number. I've researched drill-through reports, sub reports, etc. but can't find a way to do what I want.
I'm now thinking that I need to add custom code in the report properties, code window to do this. I'm hoping that there is a VB method I can use to call this report and pass a parameter. Pseudo-code for this function would look something like this: RunReport("DrillDownReport", "Parameter").
This seems like it should be pretty easy but I don't know what the function is in VB for running an SSRS report (if there is one).
Is this possible or am I barking up the wrong code tree?

Oct 2, 2015Because of a performance problem, somebody has given me a script which came from a SSRS report.
The code as supplied does not work when multivalued parameters are used.
Testing/tuning/building in SSMS is far superiour than in SSRS. So that's why I like to use SSRS for building the code/script/sql-statement.
Offcourse parameters have to be set correctly. (That is no problem).
Splitting of the multivalued parameter is not a problem either.
