Except that now I am trying to connect and update to an Microsoft SQL Server Database File (SqlClient) via VB 2008 Express; specifically a table called €œHexMap€? that contains some columns that I am ready to insert some row data into. Here is what my program should do:
As I hover over a hexagon map of the US a red flickering hexagon follows the location of my mouse cursor. If I click on a given hexagon, the program draws a permanent blue hexagon, and sends a new set of row data into my database. Such information as the name of the state, row, column, center x, and center y, etc. Here is a quick snapshot of this program in action:

I think I am missing something since I appear to be able to connect successfully to the database table. Unfortunately, I never see the changes in the database, when I try to Show Table Data (via Database Explorer). I am hoping someone will review my code snippet (below) and tell me what I am missing. What happens when I run this code is that it acts like it works just fine, except that I have no indication that any changes were actually affected.

Save Input Flat File Names.

I am new to SSIS.
I have a data flow task within a For Each Loop Container.
Its reading a Demilited Flat File and inserting into a DB table.
The Flat File Source reads a specified folder and picks up all files with extension .txt
Question:
How can I record and save the file names the package picks up and loads it in ?
For eg:
If I have under C:Test folder
File1.txt
File2.txt
File3.txt
And the package picks up all the files above and loads them in, is it possible to read the file name its processing ?
I have a need to read these file names ( in this example File1,File2,File3 ) and store them in a DB table.
Appreciate your help.

Save Any File Into A Table
Feb 2, 2005I have a asp.net application where i can choose to save any file(could be jpg or dat or txt or xml etc etc) into a table.So far,i've manage to save it into an SQL server table in a column(set to Image datatype).But when i get the data from the table,put it into a byte array and recreate it.I notice that the files can be recreated correctly if they are of type .txt files.But jpg files can't be recreated and trying to open the jpg files gives an error.I don't think it is the file saving that is the problem since any files can be save.Rather it is the file recreating that is the problem.Can anyone help?

If there is error after delete #t2 , transaction t1 is rolled back. But i am not able to understand why i am getting error in the statement 'rollback transaction t2' . I am getting error as 'Cannot roll back t2. No transaction or savepoint of that name was found.'. but save point t2 is mentioned in the code.

I'm developing a credit card application, and would like to store some sensitive data in a table temporarily, but be absolutely positive it either never goes into the log file in the first place, or is securely deleted from the log file when I delete the data. There's millions of other bits of data in the log, so truncating or otherwise disposing of the whole log is not an option.
In particular, I'm capturing the credit card mag stripe at the beginning of a transaction, and saving it while the work is done to complete the transaction. (ie, a pilot walks in, says "Top off the G4 with JetA, here's my card, have it ready when I get back.") We want to save the swipe info for maybe a couple of hours (it is encrypted during this time), use it for the authorization, then throw it away as per credit card industry rules.
Is there any way I can save the encrypted text string in a normal MSSQL field (Varchar(200)), have it stay around for a few hours as the user logs in and out of the database, then delete the record and be sure it's nowhere in the log?

The issue I am having is that when I preview the flat file after selecting it as the datasource, some of the data that have the numeric file format are showing up as non numeric, for instance the value -1,809,575,682,700 is being viewed as ""1 and the package is giving a conversion error.

The one way I can think is pre map the columns from the file to the destination tables. Build numerous Bulk Insert tasks to achieve that. But not sure if SSIS will let me do that.

Replication of partition switching is easy. However I am not sure how to replicate merge range and empty filegroup/file drops.

Copy file group associations
Copy table partitioning schemes
Copy index partitioning schemes
I am not sure if these are enough to implement the replication of merge range and empty filegroup/file drops.
I could not find and option to copy partition functions.

Input Flat File Is - Truncate Extra Data
Jun 10, 2007I am using the flat file connection manager. I read in a set of flat files and copy them into a staging database table. I want to ignore anything in the text file past column 266. I can't get this to work correctly. I can't define the last column to end at 266 and ignore the rest. I tried adding an extra column but that did not work either.

What Data Type To Save GPS Coordinates In A Data Table.
Sep 20, 2006I am working on a program in VB 2005 in which i want to store and retrieve GPS coordinates. I am not sure which data type is the best to use to enter Latitude & Longitude numbers and maintain their proper integrity.
Like LAT ( N38 28.025' ) and LONG (W105 52.098' )
The numbers will be entered by the user and that format can be maintained, but how to re-enter & or insert them into the database using the same format is my real question.
I hope I have explained this right. The numbers in BOLD are what I need to maintain.

When I do select * from rdb.dbo.scd_event_tab, i get :
