SQL Server 2008 :: Setting To Not Rollback A Failed SSIS Package That Inserts 100 Million Records?

I have a pretty simple SSIS package that fast loads a 100 million record table into a SQL Server 2008 table on a daily basis. This normally runs fine and completes in about 1 hour. As this is perhaps one of our largest running SSIS packages, about once every 2-3 weeks this SSIS will fail/drop connection. Once it fails, the large number of records will start rolling back. This rollback process can take 1+ hours so I cannot even restart the failed SSIS package immediately. This is a problem.
I am looking for a solution or option so I do not have to wait on that rollback to restart this particular, long running SSIS package. Is there an option/setting to leave the partial data set committed and not rollback? Then I could just restart the SSIS package immediately or set it the SSIS to auto-restart 1 time on failure. The first step in the SSIS does a truncate of the destination table.

the table contains more than 80 million records so when i fetch the data using buyer_id & timezone its taking lot of more than 1 hours or so....& where buyer_id is not unique.how to fetch the data fast or need to change the structure of the table

I have an issue with DBCC Check DB maintenance plan . I run it in my production last nite.

SQL Server 2008 and user connecting with SSIS.How can I trace this user's activity? When I try I do not get the sql they are running. I know their package is pulling data. I assume this is because the code is 'complied' and not really running straight sql type code.
I have looked online and found that there are settings that need to be set in the package for the trace to be able to work as expected.how can I get what the SSIS package is doing if I don't have any control over the package?

I created a SSIS package using VS2005 with the "ProtectionLevel" set to "DontSaveSensitive" . I executed the package and it completed without an error. I then built the package and deployed it to the SSIS inside the folder "MSDB". I run the pakage in SSIS and it worked perfectly. Then I created a job in SQL Server Agent and have it run in a per-set schedule. It failed to run withthe following error:

The error mentioned the step in SSIS Package that requires to copy the backup of the OLAP database file "AS_STDM.abf" from the Source Server location (local processing server SRVSPOYDB01) to the Targer Server location (remote production server SVMPPODB01) "Svmppodb01OLAP DataSql DataBackUpAS_STDM.abf". This step worked in the SSIS(SRVSOUDB01) when executing there. Why it is not working in Sql Server Agent(SRVSOUDB01). It also works in VS 2005.

Hi,
I am making use of the DtUtil tool to deploy my package to SQL Server.
Following is my configuration:
32-bit machine and 32-bit named instance of Yukon.
I have some package variables which need to be set in the code.
Previously I did it as follows:
Set the package variables in the code. For example:
pkgFile.Variables["User::DestinationServerName"].Value = <myvalue>
Deploy the package as follows:
applnObj.SaveToSqlServer(pkgFile, null,
destinationServer, null, null);
Here the package was successfully deployed and when i open those packages using BIDS, I am able to see that the variables are set to the values as doen in teh code.
Because of oen problem I am not using SaveToSQLServer method. So I switched to DTUtil tool.
Now I am doing it this way:
Set the package variables as before.
Deploy the package to SQL Server using DTUtil tool.
Now is the problem:
The package is successfully deployed. But the variables are not set to the value that I have specified in the code.
I also tried DTexec utility to set the package variable. Even that does n't work.
Can anyone help me out? Is there any alternate method to set package variables?

I have a stored procedure that updates my table with values entered in a datatable in my windows app.
An error occurs 1/2 way through the update process. I assumed that by implementing the rollback transaction command that the inserted lines would not be saved to my db. This is not the case.
I will elaborate a little more on what I need. From my windows app I have a datatable with 100 new rows that need to be written to my db. This I can do. However, a problem crops up should there be an error during the transfer. Let's say I have 100 rows in my datatable in my windows app, and row 57 causes an error, what is happening is that rows 1-56 are committed and 57-100 are not. What I need is for 1-100 to NOT be committed to my DB should there be a snag along the way. I need a code sample as I'm having way too much difficulty with this as is.
The basic code that copies to my db(sans rollback):
BEGIN
SET NOCOUNT ON
INSERT INTO userprofile (uid, uname, ustatus)
VALUES @userid, @username, @userstatus;
END

I am copying data from database to an excel file through SSIS. database is MS SQL 2005 and BIDS is also 2005.However, the job doing this task fails every time.As per investigation, the result of the query is more than 100,000 rows and we know that excel has a limit of 65000 rows of data.Is there a way of setting the limit up? or something? a better approach maybe so that everything will be copied to the excel file successfully.

I'm trying to create an import package using BIDS. I'm using SQL Server 2008. The data is saved as a .csv file so that I can use the flat file option for data source. The issue I am having is that when I preview the flat file after selecting it as the datasource, some of the data that have the numeric file format are showing up as non numeric, for instance the value -1,809,575,682,700 is being viewed as ""1 and the package is giving a conversion error.

All execute sql task has query like above query. and in some query we have date filter which loads data for yesterday. Ex. one query has ship.SHIPPED_DATE=(dateadd(day, -1, CONVERT(VARCHAR(10),GETDATE(),120))). some other query has ord.trans_date=(dateadd(day, -1, CONVERT(VARCHAR(10),GETDATE(),120))). this package runs daily through sql server job, so It loads data for yesterday. Now If i want to run for any particular date, How could we achieve from ssis?

i created a SSIS package to import data to a remote sql server, using the following connection string:
"Data Source=My-SQL;User ID=PortalUser;Password=Password;Initial Catalog=TestOMIWarehouse;Provider=SQLNCLI.1;Auto Translate=True;";
and got an error "Login failed".
When i give PortalUser a sysadmin server role, it works. But i don't want to give PortalUser a sysadmin role. Any suggestions? Is sysadmin role required to access a remote server using Sql server authentication?

I have two calls to stored procedures that in an SSIS package fails silently. They are simply not executed in production but works fine in test, nothing happens and the sql server agent reports that everything has gone just fine.
In test they have 1 server with db A and B. No issue here.
In prod they have 2 servers with db A and B. On server 1 sql server agent executes a job that includes an SSIS package that on server 2 runs a couple of sp's. That user is db owner on server 2 db B and yet nothing happens. The sp's are not executed.
If I in prod run the job manually then it works, but not when run with the sql server agent account that as said is even db owner.

I've imported an SSIS package into Management Studio (2008 R2) and I've set up a SQL Server Agent job to call the package but it fails due to error code: 0xc00160aa.
As far as I can tell this is because it is unable to read the location of the package despite it being a file system location within Management studio. Also I can run the package manually within Management Studio, but when I try to call it via the job it fails.

I have a SSIS package running well in production however sometimes the package will fail when the excel file contains more than 25000+ rows.
The SSIS package is run by SQL Server Agent and is set to run in 32bit mode.
I checked the data by loading in batches and all data loaded successfully. But the funny thing is when I run the same package on my local development PC using BIDS and the same data file. The package loads all 25000+ rows successfully.
Is there some setting that is preventing all rows loading in the server environment.

I have an SSIS package created on SQL Server 2005. I have moved this to a SQL Server 2008 R2 server and amended the package on this new server to point at the correct databases.
The package runs manually. However, I cannot see the package when trying to schedule a job. The dropdown list does not contain the package.
I imported the package by right clicking on MSDB and selecting the package from the file system. The package then appears under this folder (SQL Server Integration Services). I then create the SQL job but cannot see the package I just created.

Hi All,
I'm a relative novice on SQL Server and am a complete beginner at SQL, so am looking for a little help.
I currently use a DTS package to perform inserts / updates to a "production" table.
The DTS package transforms a comma separated file into a "temporary" table that is truncated / cleared before the load starts.
The temporary table has a column denoting Insert or Update. The production table is almost identical, however, doesn't contain the Insert / Update column. The DTS package then, depending upon the Insert / Update flag, either inserts data into the production table or updates data in the production table.
When the DTS package has completed, I'd like to be able to run an SQL Query that validates everything in the "temporary" table is identical to that in the "production" table, which it should be.
I have managed to do some queries to verify that everything has loaded / updated i.e. select primary_key from temporary table where primary_key not in (select * from production table), however, what I haven't been able to do is verify that all the columns on the temporary table match the values in the production table (excluding the Insert / Update flag).
I tried concatenating the columns in each table and comparing the concatenated values, however, this failed due to the different data-types, i.e. decimal, text etc.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I am currently working on a simple page to insert 1.6 million UK postcode records into an SQL server table. The table has three columns for the postcode, longditude coordinate and lattitude coordinate. The data is sourced from a pipe (|) delimited txt file and inserted into the database using a FOR loop. The problem I have is that the page will hang after inserting only 10,000 records, the page displays either an invalid View State error or a page cannot be found error.
Now I assume the viewstate error stems from the fact that there is a form on the page which simply contains a button to execute the script and a few labels to show the progress. But without the form and associated viewstate the insert still fails to complete.... any ideas?? Would I be better running this on a thread or should I just do it in stages and be patient. I have now modified the page to read the database on load and pick up from where it crashes?

i have a directory database with approx. 80 million records. i am feeding the database with bulk_insert. Indexing one of the fields took about 8 hrs. After indexing when i run queries with the indexed field the response time is under 1 sec. However if i run select queries with like on non-indexed fields it takes more than 2 mins. So i decided to index 4 other fields in the database and it looks like the indexing process is going to run for 2 days.
i am a novice in SQL database design and i am not sure if this is the best way to index the table. i am just using create index. Any suggestions / advice welcome.

What is the fastest way to update 20million records in our database.
I have tried to do a simple update statement like this:

but it take 10 plus hours to run since it cannot commit the transactions until the very end. So was was thinking that I need to commit in batch like after 50K but that is slow as well.

Hi all,
I have a sql script that updates records in a table with 40 million records.
There is some functionality in the script that could be put away in functions for code reuse/elegance.
Functions would cause execution overhead.
What else could I use besides functions that would allow me the code reuse and not compromise the execution over head? Is there any thing like includes in TSQL that would allow me to do so?
