I am having a Stored Procedure Or SQL Script to be attached to Job Scheduler. When this Stored procedure executes it generates some output text. I need to store this output to text file when ever this store Procedure (or) SQL Script executed by job Scheduler.

We have a legacy database that have hundreds of stored procedures.
The previous programmar uses a string like servername.databasename.dbo.tablename in the stored procedures.
We now have migrated the database to a new server. The old server is either needed to be replaced by the new server name, or remove it.
I don't know why he used servername as part of the fully qualified name, we don't use linked servers. So I think better removing the servername in all the stored procedures.
I know I can do a generate script, and replace the text and then use alter procedure to recreate all the stored procedures. But since hundreds of them, is there a programmatically way to replace them?
I have create a batch file to execute a stored proc to import data.
When I run it from the server (Remote Desktop) it works fine, but if I share the folder and try to run it from my pc, it doesn't do anything. I don't get an error, it just doesn't do anything. My windows user has admin rights in SQL. Why is it not executing from my PC?

As it is right now, I will periodically go into SQL Server Mngmnt Studio and run the procedure, then save the XML output to an XML file that my website uses. The procedure takes too long run (it is recursive through the entire data set) to have the website call the procedure on its own, and wait for the results.
My question is this: Can I create a trigger that will run this stored procedure and save the results to a file? Is that possible? The trigger would call the procedure any time a specific table is updated (which will be a rare occurrence), then save the file to the path provided so the website users could always have the most up-to-date information without having long wait times caused by long waits for the procedure to run.
Any advice on how best to accomplish this will be appreciated.

I tried to find some information about this, but surprisingly can't seem to find anything. Seems like it would be a very common scenario.
I need to send the output of a stored procedure to a flat file. First, I created an Execute SQL Task that calls the stored procedure. I selected "full result set."
My first question is, how do I capture the individual column values? For example, under "Result Set", should I create an Object variable, or should I use individual column variables? I've tried both ways, but can't seem to get to the next item, below...
Now, how do I map the variables to the flat file? If I use a data flow task, the flat file has "no available inputs". If I add an OLE DB Source before the flat file destination, there's no place to capture the result set.
Clearly, I am missing something here.

I tried same thing on different server, it works fine.Both are are 2008 R2.Is there any server level setting that i have to look at.On both servers i logged in as sal. I have a table which has few columns as Numeric value. I need to export the output into a csv file as a report with column headers. I have used bcp command. Here column name and Column Header name is the same. The BCP query which i have used is Below

My requirment is to read the text files and parse it into corresponding data and then store it into the MSSQL Server Database.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a C# SQL 2005 .net stored procedure which scrubs a text file looking for characters not in a range of characters and replacing them with another character. This works fine except when the process is killed. When this happens the file handle of the file being scrubbed is not released. I use a try catch finally block when opening the file and the output file. The finally section fiushes the output file and closes all files and streams but still when I go to access the file again or use the file in explorer it says the file is still in use. Should I be handling this some other way? How do I know the files will always be closed correctly.

I am working on an OLAP modeled database.
I have a Lookup Transformation that matches the natural key of a dimension member and returns the dimension key for that member (surrogate key pipeline stuff).
I am using an OLE DB Command as the Error flow of the Lookup Transformation to insert an "Inferred Member" (new row) into a dimension table if the Lookup fails.
The OLE DB Command calls a stored procedure (dbo.InsertNewDimensionMember) that inserts the new member and returns the key of the new member (using scope_identity) as an output.
What is the syntax in the SQL Command line of the OLE DB Command Transformation to set the output of the stored procedure as an Output Column?
I know that I can 1) add a second Lookup with "Enable memory restriction" on (no caching) in the Success data flow after the OLE DB Command, 2) find the newly inserted member, and 3) Union both Lookup results together, but this is a large dimension table (several million rows) and searching for the newly inserted dimension member seems excessive, especially since I have the ID I want returned as output from the stored procedure that inserted it.

No rows affected. If I run the same sp in Sql Server Manager Studio Express it correctly shows the data of the 3 rows returned. I would like to search for a particular stored procedure written by a developer. I know the name of the procedure but in which db is it residing in. There are 40 databases in this SQL 2008 instance. I search on the name column in sys.all_objects table and it does not return anything. I end up querying sys.procedures on each database to locate the procedure. Is there a system table/view that I can query to look for a procedure, instead of querying sys.procedures on each database one by one?
