SQL Server 2008 :: Unknown Error Messages During Generate Script From Database
Mar 23, 2009
I have a SQL2008 database, running Standard Edition 64-bit, database owns by sa, connected to Management Studio using Windows Authentication mode. When I tried to generate scripts from a database, I got the following error messages:-
[Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object. (SqlManagerUI)]
which happened at one particular table. I have reviewed this table definitions are normal, and I could select data from it.
I couldn't find any information anywhere relating to this error messages, except that someone got it when they were trying to change the authentication mode or sa password.
Wanted to check if there's any option to suppress message after the database backup statement is run like we have in dbcc checkdb by using NO_INFOMSGS?

I'm using MS Report Designer 2005 and have created a report that uses a cube, with a dimension set up to convert null values to unknown (nullProcessing = UnknownMember).
When I create a parameter using the checkbox in the graphical design mode's filter pane, Report Designer automatically sets the constrained flag, eg:
When running the report and selecting the 'Unkown' value from the parameter list, the error 'the restrictions imposed by the CONSTRAINED flag in the STRTOSET function were violated' occurrs.
How can I prevent the constrained flag from being used, or am I doing something wrong with converting null values to 'Unknown'?
I have a single table that consist of 4 columns. Entity, ParamName, ParamsValue and ParamiValue. This table stores normalized Late Fee related parameters for apartments. The Entity field contains a code that identifies the apartment complex. The ParamName in a textual field that contains the name of the parameter that the other 2 fields define the value for; ParamsValue and ParamiValue. If the Late Fee parameter (as named in ParamName is something numerical then the value for that parameter can be found in ParamiValue else its in ParamsValue.
I don't know if 'Pivot' is the correct term to use for describing what I am trying to do because I've looked at the Pivot examples and I don't see how that will work for this. Using the Table and data as provided below, how would I construct a query so that I get 1 row per Entity in which the columns are the ParamsValue or ParamiValue for the ParamName listed in the column header (for the query)?
Below is the DDL to create the table and populate it.
USE [DBA_UTIL] CREATE TABLE [dbo].[PARAMEXAMPLE]( [Entity] [varchar](16) NULL,
I am working on SQL SERVER schemas using a plug-in in SQL developer itself now my requirement is to generate DDL for a table which is part of SQL SERVER schema...
Our end users is getting below error, when they try to connect to our database:
"Cannot generate SSPI Context."
That is Windows based application and we have done everything like restart our DB Server , reinstall exe in users system, but still issue is same. The issue has occured from when DB Server has restarted and at the same time few users are connected. before that it was working fine. we could not find what is issue.
It might be an old question but wanted to see, if we have any latest techniques (other than bcp).
SELECT Field1, Field2 FROM MyTable
If I want to export the output of the above query to a csv on a network folder? I would like to avoid usage of SSIS package or BCP (as user needs to get additional rights to execute bcp).
I need to generate the week ranges like this format :
Here from date and to date would be picked up from the table but just to make you understand i have hardcoded it but this is the real date which is falling inside the table.
Note : Week should be generated from Monday to Sunday within desired date range

I just opened CMD. and did the following
Command Prompt
cd D:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLBinn sqlservr.exe -s
and it returned the following
Error : 17112, Severity : 16, State: 1. The error is printed in terse mode because there was error durring formatting. Tracing, ETW, Notifications etc are skipped.
i need to generate documents for customers to sign automatically as sales staff enter their data into SQL. These are invoice style documents. I currently have word templates of the invoice documentation, i just need to be able to add the clients names, address etc into the relevant spaces for them to print off and sign.
I am good with TSQL and writing Stored Procs etc and can easily get the data ready - i just need to find a way to populate the templates in the right places and then save a copy for emailing.
I've been tasked to generate some test data (a few thousand rows) into a new table in a new database. This database is a whole new idea, so I can't write a query to pull pieces of data from other databases. I cannot consider any third party tools, such as what Redgate or Idera has to offer. I can't consider free tools such as what I've found on GitHub. I've been instructed to restrict myself to Visual Studio 2013 and whatever I can get that works within that.

I need to create a script that adds an incrementing suffix to two columns, but restarts based on the value of another column. I found a similar question in the SQL Server 2000 forum, but it doesn't quite fit and also I'm working with SQL Server 2008 R2. The code below both creates a table with test data and tries to carry out the task. If you run this, you will see that the VISITNUM column has a value of UNS in row 4, UNS.1 in row 5 and UNS.2 in row 6. In row 7 it's V200, then in rows 8 and 9 it's UNS.3 for both. The same suffix gets applied to the VISIT column, but of course if I can solve this for VISITNUM then adding the suffix to VIST as well will be easy.
What I need is for row 8 to have UNS and row 9 to have UNS.1. In other words, any time the VISITNUM is UNS several times in a row, I need to add that ".X" suffix, but if a row has something other than UNS, I need to start over again the next time it's UNS again.
There is a SQL Server 2008 R2 SP3 Clustered Instance that has Transactional Replication. It is by no means a large replication setup in terms of data/article count. SQL Server was recently patched to SP3 and is current on Windows 2008 R2 Patches.
When I added a new article to replication (via 2014 SSMS GUI) it seems to add everything correctly (replication tables/procs show the new article as part of the publication). The Publication is set to allow the snapshot to generate for just new articles (setting immediate_sync & allow_anonymous to false).
When the snapshot agent is run, it runs without error and claims to have generated a snapshot of 1 article. However the snapshot folder only contains a folder for the instance (that does have the modified time of the snapshot agent execution) and none of the regular bcp/schema files.
The tables never make it to the subscribers and replication continues on without error for the existing articles. No agents produce any errors and running the snapshot agent w/ verbose output provides no errors or insight into any possible issues.
I have tried:
- dropping/re-adding the article in question.
- Setting up a new Snapshot Folder
- Validated all the settings and configurations
I'm hesitant to reinitialize a subscriber since I am not confident a snapshot can be generated. Also wondering if this is related to the SP3 Upgrade, every few months new articles are added to the publication and this is the first time since the upgrade to SP3 that it has been done.
I am trying to use SQLServer for the first time and I am trying to use the upsizing wizard on Access to get moved over to SQLServer. I am getting the following error messages:
I have moved some DB's from a physical server to a virtual server while the physical server is being upgraded. This morning when I checked to make sure all the jobs are running fine I saw that a backup job failed for one of the databases. The error was :

Then I ran a DBCC check db command and found the following errors:
Msg 8928, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Msg 8939, Level 16, State 98, Line 1 Msg 8976, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Msg 8978, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Msg 8939, Level 16, State 98, Line 1 Msg 8978, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
The messages varies from data from one page cannot be referenced on another, data page cannot be processed, page was not seen in the scan although the parent was etc etc.
I am getting following error when I try to create the 1st diagram for my existing database in SQL server management studio . I am using sql server 2008 express. Operating system is Vista basic home. Hello everybody,I was configuring a SqlDataSource control using SQL Authentication mode.I first added a database file (testdb.mdf) through Solution Explorer-Add New Items. Then through Database Explorer I created a table named "info"Then while configuring the SqlDataSource control I used the SQL Authentication mode and attached the "testdb.mdf" database file.Test Connection showed success. But when I hit the Ok button of the wizard it displayed the following error message:Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server. Only an integrated connection can generate a user instance. While configuring the SqlDataSource control I clicked "New Connection". Under Data Source section I tried both Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft SQL Server Database File. And in both the cases I attached a databese file(testdb.mdf). Plz enlighten me on this. Thanks and Regards,Sankar.
I was wondering if anybody knows where to get a complete list of SQL Server error messages. I am writing a stored procedure that scans SQL Server Logs for errors and if there are errors in the logs, I get paged.

I am using Reporting services through web services using the SOAP API. The problem I am facing is for any errors that occur the messages are getting displayed more than once.
For example : while rendering a report(which takes a parameter) if the parameter is not passed the same error message is displayed thrice.
"This report requires a default or user-defined value for the report parameter 'Num_RP_1'. To run or subscribe to this report, you must provide a parameter value. ---> This report requires a default or user-defined value for the report parameter 'Num_RP_1'. To run or subscribe to this report, you must provide a parameter value. ---> This report requires a default or user-defined value for the report parameter 'Num_RP_1'. To run or subscribe to this report, you must provide a parameter value."
while calling listChildren() method if the folderpath passed is a non existing one then the same error message is displayed twice.
"The path of the item '/SomeNonExistantPath/' is not valid. The full path must be less than 260 characters long; other restrictions apply. If the report server is in native mode, the path must start with slash. ---> The path of the item '/SomeNonExistantPath/' is not valid. The full path must be less than 260 characters long; other restrictions apply. If the report server is in native mode, the path must start with slash."
1. Why some messages are displayed twice and some are displayed thrice ?
2. Is there any way to get the error message only once ?
I have installed Sp1 for Sql Server 2005 I also received "locked files" and "reboot required". These errors I can find on all forums and do not worry me anymore. However i still would like to know more about the messages in the log files.
- What does this mean: "Failed to read associated hotfix build information for the following file"...... - What does this men: "Failed to read version information for the following file".........
- Why are some products NOT APPLIED, while in the other log file it says "SUCCES" for the same product? These beneath the 2 log files.
I am getting a new server online at a customer, and our system shows very funny erorrs under full load. No explanations could be found. Anyone has some? Here we go: Server failed to resume the transaction, desc: 360000054a. The transaction active in this session has been committed or aborted by another session., at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery() and New request is not allowed to start because it should come with valid transaction descriptor. System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException I am a little lost on those. Simple fact is that I do not find any description of those. Anyone an idea what causes these?
Two days ago I discovered that the drive on our test SqlServer2005 was full. The current Error_log had 54+ Gb (yes Gb) of records. Not only did I delete the file I restarted SS and the server.
That afternoon, I discovered that the current log had 33,678 records! I believe 33,616 of the records came from a single run of my app and set of program events. Obviously I'm doing something wrong in my Query Notification implementation and testing. And yet, when I try to to deliberately trigger the phenomenon, I can not.
Here is the head of the exported log file; the two msgs (query dialog closed and cannot drop queue) alternate thousands and thousands of times form a single test run. What is going on?! Pls help!

How to localize exception messageg that receive sql server 2005.
This is what I want to do:1. Delete all tables in database with table names that ends with anumber.2. Leave all other tables in tact.3. Table names are unknown.4. Numbers attached to table names are unknown.5. Unknown number of tables in database. For example:(Tables in database)AccountAccount1Account2BinderBinder1Binder2Binder3.......I want to delete all the tables in the database with the exceptionof Account and Binder.I know that there are no wildcards in the "Drop Table tablename"syntax. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to write this sqlstatement?Note: I am executing this statement in MS Access with the"DoCmd.RunSQL sql_statement" command. Thanks for any help!
