isn't there an automatic log of some sort to check and see what exactly was changed by a given SQL command? A stored proc was ran and I need to figure out what exactly it changed in the underlying table.

Is there a way that I can find which stored procedure or event dropped this stored procedure?
We have a process that uses a stored procedure: sp_MysteryProcedure....
The problem I am having is: I am 95% certain the issue lies with this stored procedure, but I cannot find the process that calls this procedure. It could be a SQL Server Job that calls the procedure directly, it could be an SSIS (*.dtsx) process that calls this procedure, or some other random process.
One of the big issues is we have tons of *.dtsx packages that call a bunch of stored procedures, but it doesn't seem a normal Windows Search (Start --> Search) searches these files (or perhaps something else is going on with this search).
So my question is multi-part.....
1). How would one go about finding a rouge process that loads data via a stored procedure if we believe we know the stored procedures name?
2). How do you search *.dtsx files?
We have more that 500 crystal reports and we would like to find out list of stored procedure used by crystal reports. Can we find out ?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWith a Gridview Control, I set the SqlDataSource to be a stored procedure in a Sql Sever database.
Using the wizzard to configure the datasource, the test returns lots of rows. After completing the wizzard, the gridview control does not show the column names in the VS2005 designer. For the gridview column headers the values are Databound Col0, Databound Col1, Databound Col2, ....) This tells me I have a problem.
I tried the same thing with a simpler stored procedure. This test stored procedure does not call anything else, takes several input parameters, returns rows. The column names show in the gridview control as expected.
So I am trying to figure out why the first case of gridview with sqldatasource is not working and the second case works . The stored procedure that is not working with my gridview calls multiple inner stored procedures and has #TEMP tables. My complex stored procedure ends with Select * from #Temp.
Could the calling of other inner stored procedures and use of #temp tables contribute to the problem? If yes then what is the strategy for using a gridview and loading it with the data that the complex stored procedure returns?
I could identify the last or all stored procedure, which was performed on a database, +/- something similar to what the profile of sql server identifies as below ?

What i'm want to do is to block someone executing stored procedure using query analyzer and retrieve its sensitive results.
Stored procedure A has been granted execution for public user but inside application, it will prompt access denied message if particular user has no rights to use system although knew public user name and password. Because there is second layer of user validation inside system application.
However inside query analyzer, there is no way control execution of stored procedure A it as user knew the public user name and password.

I'm having a hard time to getting back an xml data back from a stored procedure executed by an Execute SQL task.
I'm passing in an XML data as a parameter and getting back resulting XML data as a parameter. The Execute SQL task is using ADO connection to do this job. The two parameters(in/out) are type of "string" and mapped as string.
When I execute the task, I get the following error message.
[Execute SQL Task] Error: Executing the query "dbo.PromissorPLEDataUpload" failed with the following error: "The incoming tabular data stream (TDS) remote procedure call (RPC) protocol stream is incorrect. Parameter 2 ("@LogXML"): Data type 0xE7 has an invalid data length or metadata length.". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.
I also tried mapping the parameter as XML type, but that didn't work either.
If anyone knows what's going on or how to fix this problem please let me know. All I want to do is save returning XML data in the parameter to a local package variable.

I have a table which is referenced in multiple stored procedures .Among them only one procedure loads data (INSERT statement) to the table. In all other procedures table is referenced in FROM clause.
My question is how do i find the stored procedure that is actually loading data into that table.

I have a Matrix report (SQL 2005 SP2) which uses a stored procedure to retrieve the result set. When I preview or view the report on IE, the SP gets executed thrice (instead of just once)? Anybody know about this? Is this is a bug in Rep Srvcs?
It is slowing down the report considerably.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a table (represented by #Events) that holds modifications made to another table. I do have some control over the table structure and indexing. I want to pull all of the change records that were made between two dates.
The tricky part is to include the previous version of each record, which will usually be found prior to the start date in question.
The code that I have provided below works. So you can use it to easily see what should be returned. But it's very slow in production.
Any better method to pull this data together?

Hi everybody, I created several stored procedure in a local sql server 2005 express database, now when I call/execute them in the asp.net 2.0 web page, it returns an error message of "Cannot find the stored procedure '<proc_name>'", this is funny, when I execute the commandin a sql query window "exec sp_GetAllArticles", it also returns cannot find stored procedure, but when I execute the "Use <DBName>" and thenexecute the statement, it works. I would like to search for a particular stored procedure written by a developer. I know the name of the procedure but in which db is it residing in. There are 40 databases in this SQL 2008 instance. I search on the name column in sys.all_objects table and it does not return anything. I end up querying sys.procedures on each database to locate the procedure. Is there a system table/view that I can query to look for a procedure, instead of querying sys.procedures on each database one by one?

I am search for coding criteria I need create a stored procedure with execute as and along with encryption. How can I use the same ? My main motive is to create proc with execute as a user also at the same time I need to encrypt the same from other users seeing the code.

we are having the same code base in both the environment but we have different version of SQL Server Version(Env 1 - SQL 2012, Env 2 - SQL 2008). We are getting the expected result in Env - 1 but not in the ENV -2. So we tried to get the SQL trace for the web request we found that Date format getting changed.
