SQL Server 2012 :: BCP Query Out Not Working With Line Break
Mar 2, 2015
I have SQL Server 2012, and I'm trying to execute a bcp with a queryout and it is not working with line break, I will send you an example of a simple query my real case is a very long query that contains line breaks but this example behaves the same:
DECLARE @StoredProcedure AS NVARCHAR(4000) ,
@sql AS NVARCHAR(4000)
SET @StoredProcedure = N'"SELECT *
from clarity.[dbo].[ACCESS_DEP]"'
[code]...
Of course that is not the solution as I have a very long query that requires line breaks.
Basically I'm running a number of selects, using unions to write out each select query as a distinct line in the output. Each line needs to be multiplied by -1 in order to create an offset balance (yes this is balance sheet related stuff) for each line. Each select will have a different piece of criteria.
Although I have it working, I'm thinking there's a much better or cleaner way to do it (I use the word better loosely)
Example: SELECT 'Asset', 'House', TotalPrice * -1 FROM Accounts WHERE AvgAmount > 0 UNION SELECT 'Balance', 'Cover', TotalPrice FROM Accounts WHERE AvgAmount > 0
What gets messy here is having to write a similar set of queries where the amount is < 0 or = 0
I'm thinking something along the lines of building a table function contains all the descriptive text returning the relative values based on the AvgAmount I pass to it.
Hello,In a Stored Proc, I am building a string variable. I am getting outputsfrom 4 different queries and would like the string to have line breaksto display each entry in a different line in a text area. How can I dothis?i.eresult = result1 + result2 + result3 + result4.What characters can I enter so that the output is displayed in thetextarea asresult1result2result3result4Thanks,
I have data saved in nvarchar field in SQL Server and I am displaying it using <= dbReader["my_field"] but even the three or four paragraphs comes as one paragragh and I don't know know where are my line breaks going?
Hi ALL, I have a report that has a letter in a textbox. When I view the report all the lines are wrapped up to a single paragraph. How to apply a line break in the text box to get a formatted letter .
In ssrs text box data is coming from database in single line .But actually it is of two different paragraph.so how to break the paragraph data in two different line .
I need to be able to identify breaks in a sequence so I can evaluate the data more correctly. In the sample I have given I need to be able to identify the break in sequence at 69397576, ideally I would set that as a D. My query also needs to recognize that the 3 sequences following 69397576 are sequential and would belong to that set. so the out come would look like this.
I have to output as one filed name, mailing address, and phone of each company that we do business with. the out put must look as follows: Company Name Store number: ##### Street Address 1 Street Address 2 City, State Zip + 4 Phone: (###) ###-####
Each piece of data is a single field and will have to be concatenated into one. How do I force the line breaks where I need them?
Also each piece of data will be compared to a €śsource€? for validity and I will need to mare the individual data pieces red where €śwrong€?. Like so: VALID MY DATA Company Name Company Name Store number: ##### Store number: ##### Street Address 1 Street Address 1 Street Address 2 Street Address 2 City, State Zip + 4 City, State Zip + 4 Phone: (###) ###-#### Phone: (###) ###-####
Any ideas on how to do this? I have used IIF for conditional formating of field colors in the past, but my expierence is that it changes the WHOLE display field not just piece of data the IIF is wrapped around.
I'm having an odd problem that I've never experienced before. I have a couple of tables and then a bunch of text fields. Each table needs to start on a new page, as does the collection of textboxes. I can accomplish this for the two tables but not for the text boxes. When I set pagebreadatend to true for the second table, the textboxes come right after it as if it were set to false. I even embedded a rectangle in btween the table and the textboxes and set its pagebreakatend to true, but this also did not have the expected effect. What is going on here? There's nothing funky about this report, no subreports, no conditional visibility, etc.. Thanks for any help!
I have designed a report in which there are 6-7 charts. I want to print each chart in a new page. For this I have inserted page break after each chart. After this the report is populating fine but when I am exporting the report in pdf the page break are not working.
I am inserting a lengthy query through the source code here it contains one big record called description which has 3 paragraph length.....its showing error also.Is there any way to break the query in to two and execute?
I have a report which has 3 tables kept inside rectangle.I have PageBreakAtBegin Set to True for the last 2 tables.Hide Property for rectangle is False.Everything is working fine.
Moment,I place condition in Hide Property,no matter it's True or False, page break stops wroking.I can see all the tables in the single Excel file or report
I've the following T-SQL block that I'm executing where I want to print the following output in next line but not sure how to do this:
This is printing everything in one line: SET @BODYTEXT = ' Dear ' + @fname +',We realize you may have taken ' + @course_due + ' in '+ @month_last_taken +'.'
How do I do this: SET @BODYTEXT = ' Dear ' + @fname + ',We realize you may have taken ' + @course_due + ' in '+ @month_last_taken +'.'
Also how can I create a table in this variable, something like this:
(TABLE) LIST THE COURSE CODE, COURSE NAME , EMPLOYEE ID, EMPLOYEE NAME
(Course Name) (Last Completed) (Now due in Month/year)
My T-SQL code:
DECLARE @email varchar(500) ,@intFlag INT ,@INTFLAGMAX int ,@TABLE_NAME VARCHAR(100) ,@EMP_ID INT ,@fname varchar(100)
Any better way to query SQL 2012 to display the code of a stored proc to a single line. I'm trying to write a script to insert the contents of the procs between my devestprod environments. So people can query a single table for any proc that is different between environments. At the moment I am using the syscomments view and the text column but the problem here is if you get a lengthy proc it cuts it up into multiple rows.
I can get around it by converting the text to a varchar(max) and outer joining the query, but as you can see by my code below I have to try and guess what the maximum number of rows I'm going to get back for my largest proc. If someone adds a new one that returns 8 rows I'm going to miss it with this query.
This function will return working hours between given 2 dates. This function assumes that the break is between 9:45 AM and 10 AM and that Lunch is between 12:30 PM and 1 PM. This function also assumes that the working hours are between 7:30 AM and 4 PM. There is a section for public holidays there. We have a table for that you might not so that piece needs to be fixed.

I need to be able to add minutes to a datetime value, which only cover working hours.
I have a holiday table as below:
Examples: (dd/MM/yyyy hh:mm) Date..........Description 01/01/2015 New Years Day 26/12/2014 Boxing Day 25/12/2014 Christmas Day 25/08/2014 August Bank Holiday
Our Business hours are 08:00-18:00 Mon-Fri (unless the day is in the holiday table)
I have tried to create a function to do this (fn_pp_AddMinutesWithinWorkingHours(@StartDate,@Minutes)) but I am unable to come up with a solution which factors in everything correctly.
In a t-sql 2012 merge statement that is listed below, the insert statement on the merge statement listed below is not working. The update statement works though.
Merge test.dbo.LockCombination AS LKC1 USING (select LKC.lockID,LKC.seq,A.lockCombo1,A.schoolnumber from [Inputtb] A JOIN test.dbo.School SCH ON A.schoolnumber = SCH.type
[Code] ....
Thus would you tell me what I need to do to make the insert statement work on the merge statement listed above?
I have a detailed report in ssrs in which data can come from start date and end date parameters.
but the problem is. for example i gave startdate as 01/01/2015 and end date as 09/31/2015 then the data must be in displayed in such a way that jan month in one tab and feb month data in one tab and sooo on to sep month data in new tab when i export to Excel.
We are facing problem in doing page break with column grouping. Our column group contains years e.g 2011, 2013 . We want to show a complete page for a year.Â
Suppose 2011 has 10 records(horizontal) and 2013 has 12 records(horizontal) in column. The output should be 10 records of 2011 in first page, 12 records of 2013 in second page.
We cannot change the report layout to make column to row and vice versa.
I am trying to push the install for ReportBuilder 3.0 and am having an issue with the REPORTSERVERURL option for installing via command line.I have a batch file that works fine, however when I launch the app it does not have a report server configured. I have verified I can connect to my report server if I enter it manually.
I want to generate a breakup report using Transact-SQL. The report is to broken on three parameters and on each breakup I need to calculate the sum of another parameter.
I have a report with several matrix objects. The data contained in each matrix is simple. One matrix has one column of labels and a column of data. The other has 3 columns of data. Both matrix's only show about 25 rows of data. A variable amount of data is displayed above the matrix's so that sometime the render across a page boundary. Whenever this happens the matrix doesn't render rows down to the bottom of the page. A considerable amount of empty space is left on the page, the completed matrix is displayed on the next page. I'm wondering how to get the matrix to render in this empty space.
This problem only occurs when I view the report on screen, in the Visual Studio "Preview" window, or from the Report Server web site. Tiff, pdf and printed output doesn't contain the extra space.
I've tried adding my matrix to a List and a Rectangle to see of this would fix the problem but it didn't help.
I've check the dimensions and margins or the page and I don't think I have any sizing problems, everything should fit on the page.
Is there a command at the CLI or in PowerShell that will list the components installed for SQL? I'm looking for something like the Feature List you can get from running the discovery report from Tools in the SQL Server Installation Center program option.
I'm running SQL Server 2012 on the CORE version of Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise.
I have a table in the report. One of the columns is the result of a variable. It is the maximum value of a field that is grouped.I need to chart the maximum values and use a different group for the values.
For example: In the data set is the following information: Furnace # Heat # Frame Avg Window Avg
then the table has the following: Heat # Max Frame Avg Max Window Avg
I need to graph the Max Frame Avg and the Max Window Avg on separate graphs.
However, as you can see, the original select query is run twice and joined together. What I was hoping for is this to be done in the original query without the need to duplicate the original query.
how do I get the variables in the cursor, set statement, to NOT update the temp table with the value of the variable ? I want it to pull a date, not the column name stored in the variable...
create table #temptable (columname varchar(150), columnheader varchar(150), earliestdate varchar(120), mostrecentdate varchar(120)) insert into #temptable SELECT ColumnName, headername, '', '' FROM eddsdbo.[ArtifactViewField] WHERE ItemListType = 'DateTime' AND ArtifactTypeID = 10 --column name declare @cname varchar(30)
