I've got a column that holds a time value in Integer form as a number from midnight (IE military time) with no leading 0s or colons.
0 = 00:00
30 = 00:30
...
1700 = 1700 etc...
How can I convert this to a real time field?
I need my code to add the varchar CPUTM field + varchar CPUZIPTIM field which both has time values to see if greater than 2 hours. How do I do this when both fields are varchar. The value in CPUTM field is 335:55:20.97 duration time. My code is below.
CPUTM = 335:55:20.97 duration time
CPUZIPTM = 0:00:01.96 duration time
select * FROM [SMF_DATA].[dbo].[System_Management_Facility]
WHERE ((convert(varchar(13), CONVERT(time, CPUTM) + CONVERT(time, CPUZIPTM))) > '02:00:00.00')
I have an asp.net 4.5 webpage that has a detailsview on it that has a bound field that points to a SQL Server 2012 datetime field (CompDate). This field is supposed to capture date AND time of completion of a record (this is a data gathering project).
<asp:BoundField DataField="CompDate" HeaderText="CompDate" SortExpression="CompDate" Visible="False" />
The code that inserts the datetime:
If e.NewValues.Item("Complete") = True Then
Dim dt As DateTime = Now
e.NewValues("CompDate") = dt
e.NewValues("UNAME") = Membership.GetUser.ToString
End If
Everything works great, except when the captured date/time is sent to sql server, the time portion is getting dropped and only zeros are getting stored in the time portion.
Results:
CompleteUNameCompDate

I've tried different formatting options and converting to string..
I want to convert a datetime type into and speciically formatted time:the table contains this:1899-12-30 10:00:00.000I want to reformat it to appear like this:10:00 AM I want to do this with SQL using a CONVERT of something along that line.I've been able to find all kinds of date and date/time formats, but not time alone in the above format.And suggestions?TIA</chaz>
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a standard datetime and I need to convert it to the client specification of:
YYYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ssTZD
eg: 2009-04-16T19:20:30+08:00
I am not sure of the easiest way to do this.
The test code below gets me part of the way but I am unsure on how to get the offset on the end without hardcoding to much.
DECLARE @datetime DATETIME = '2014-12-20 12:30:00'
SELECT CONVERT(VARCHAR(30),@datetime,127)
We have 2 columns:
StartDate - data type Date
StartTime - data type Time
I need to combine them into a DateTime data type. For now, I convert each of them into varchar, insert space in between, and convert to DateTime, like this:
convert(datetime, convert(varchar(10), EndDate , 101) + ' ' + CONVERT(varchar(20), EndTime,24))
Is there a better, more elegant way to do this?
I have a datetime field for e.g 2015-09-15 00:00:00.000 and an integer field for e.g.100809.
The integer field is actually a time value as in hours,minutes,seconds. For e.g. the value
100809Â means
10-hours
08-minutes
09-seconds
I need to combine the datetime and the int field to get the output as below
2015-09-15 10:08:09
I have define two variable of Datetime type @Sdate and @Edate.
1. @Sdate = DATEADD ("DD", -5, GETDATE())
2. @Edate = GETDATE()
3. Using Forloopcontainer for pulling the data into batches
( @sdate = dateadd ( "HH" , 1, @sdate))
Now since i am using getdate() to define @Sdate. my variable gets data as ( 2014/12/08 11:43:00AM)
Converting GETDATE( 2014/12/08 11:43:00AM) to only date 2014/12/08 00:00:00AM.
I tired using DT_WSTR which works fine (converting datetime int String).
Problem occurs when i am going through For Loop container . Since i have used assignment of @Sdate is says its not allowed.
Looking at an execution plan the conversion of NVARCHAR(15) to BIGINT is a big yellow exclamation NO NO. However, the numbers in the NVARCHAR(15) have leading zeros.
Technically speak 0123456789 is not an INTEGER or BIGINT, the performance of my Stored Procs is there any way to allow leading zeros in a BIGINT Field?

this is more of a theoretical question and not necessarily for best practice...though if reliable and efficient, i'd use it.
a lot of my sprocs return xml and are then processed in xslt...so when i need to sort by date (in xslt), i pass the datetime to a function that ultimately returns a bigint...it seems to work, but i'm not 100% confident...
can anyone confirm that the resulting integer values can be relied on for sorting?

Working on a new database where the Date and Time are stored in a Date Time Field.
Then working on an OLDER database file within the same SQL Database contains these 2 items as integers:
transDate = "71615" (July 16, 2015)
transTime = "12345" (01:23:45 AM)
How do we convert both of them into a single SQL DateTime field such as "2015-07-16 01:23:45.000" so that it can be used in a join restricting to a date time in a different SQL File that properly has the DateTime in it?
This works well for converting the transDate Part in the select statement:
  dbo.IntegerToDate(at.transDate) as transDate
  * That returns: "2015-07-16 00:00:00.000"
* The resulting data must work directly in a Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Query using either using the "on" statement or part of the "where" clause. In other words, NOT as a stored procedure!
Also must be able to be used as a date difference calculation when comparing the 2 files Within say + or - 5 seconds.
Hi all,
I have created a report in SSRS 2005 which is being viewed by users from different Time Zones.
I have a dataset which has a field of type datetime (UTC). Now I would like to display this Date according to the User Time Zone.
For example if the date is August 07, 2007 10:00 AM UTC,
then I would like to display it as August 07, 2007 03:30 PM IST if the user Time Zone is IST.
Similarly for other Time Zones it should display the time accordingly.
Is this possible in SSRS 2005?
Any pointers will be usefull...
Thanks in advance

View 1 Replies View RelatedHi,
I am trying to access a date column up to millisecond precession. So I cast date to as follows:
Code BlockCONVERT(varchar(23),CREATE_DATE,121)
I get millisecond part as a result of query but it€™s €œ000€?.
When I try to test the format by using getDate instead of DateTime column I get right milliseconds.
CONVERT(varchar(23),GetDate(),121) --Gives right milliseconds in return

In SQL Server I've created a linked server to an Oracle database. I am trying to insert (within the context of an sql server table trigger) an SQL Server datetime to an Oracle column with similar precision. Oracle timestamps are not compatible with sql server datetimes and I don't know how to convert the data (or if I should use a different type of column to store the data in Oracle). I have full control over the structure of the Oracle table so I can use a different type if timestamp is not best, but I need the destination column to have at least the same precision as the sql server datetime value. What is the easiest way to do this?

hi,
How do i convert a varchar field into the datetime data type? the reason i need this lies in the requirement that in the earlier data base the column that is hlding the date value is having the data type as varchar. and in the new design the column data type is datetime. i am using sql scripts for the data migration from the older design to the newer and got stuck with this datetime convertion issue. do let me know the best possible solution.
following are the sample data that is theer in the older table for the date.
12/12/2003
1/13/2007
01132004
1-1-2004
1.2.2001
there is no uniformity of the data that is stored currently.

Hi,
We are migrating our database from DB2 8 to SQL Server 2005. We have date and time saperate columns in DB2. For example, Date_of_birth, Store_sun_open_time, Store_sun_close_time etc. For date we are using datetime. For time what datatype should we use in SQL Server?
Thanks
