Setup And Upgrade :: Enabling FILESTREAM Server - Unknown Error Applying Settings

I'm trying to activate FILESTREAM on my SQL Server 2012, however i'm not accomplishing it. I've tried to follow this instructions: [URL] ...

My SETUP is the following:

Windows 8 (64 bit)SQL Server Standard Edition - Service Pack 1 (64 bit)SQL Version: (11.0.3128.0)

When I go to the configuration manager, on the FILESTREAM tab has a message:

"A previous FILESTREAM configuration attempt was incomplete.

FILESTREAM may be in an inconsistent state until re-configured."

If I click Enable FILESTREAM and "Apply", I get the following message:

"There was an unknown error applying the FILESTREAM settings. Check the parameters are valid. (0x80070002)"

I also read somewhere to run "EXEC sp_configure", which produces the result:

"filestream access level - 0 2 2 0"

Running "SELECT SERVERPROPERTY ('FilestreamEffectiveLevel');" returns 0.

SQL 2012 :: Enabling SSL Encrypted Connections Without Using Force Encryption Option

Apr 1, 2015

I have a customer who is looking to encrypt their applications connection to the back-end SQL server. I've gotten a valid certificate for the server from a trusted CA, and it's installed on the server (shows up in Personal certificates in the Certificate MMC when selecting the computer) and I can choose it in the drop down on the certificates tab of the SQL Network protocols properties in Configuration Manager.

Now, my question: If I select the certificate but do NOT enable the "Force Encryption" option, the client will be able to request encryption on their end, and the connection will then be encrypted. If the client (other applications) do NOT request encryption, they will still be able to connect, but their connection will be un-encrypted. URL....

Lastly, I could've swore I had found some information indicating that some methods of establishing a connection to SQL can fail when Force Encryption is enabled, as the method doesn't support SSL encryption.

SQL Server 2012 :: How To Append Underscores Based On The Level

Oct 8, 2014

I have a table that looks like below.

DECLARE @Tree TABLE

NAME VARCHAR(100),
[LEVEL] INT
)
INSERT INTO @Tree
SELECT 'ABCD', 1
UNION
SELECT 'ABBBCDD', 2
UNION
SELECT 'AABBCCDD', 2
UNION
SELECT 'AAAABBBBCCCCDDDD', 3

My question is based on the Level, I want to append that many _(underscores) before the name.

Eg : for level 3 I want the name as ___AAAABBBBCCCCDDDD.

I was thinking to insert this into a temp table and call a while statement based on the number.

SQL Server 2012 :: Finding Lowest Level Descendants In Hierarchy

Mar 11, 2015

I've got a fairly large hierarchy table and I'm trying to put together a query to find the lowest level descendants of the hierarchy. I think there must be some way to use the "Breadth-first" approach that's stated in the MSDN technet sites about SQL Server HierarchyID but i'm not sure how to write the necessary T-SQL to traverse that. I know I can get all the descendants of a parent node like this

SELECT *
FROM AdventureWorks2012.HumanResources.Employee
WHERE OrganizationNode.IsDescendantOf(@ParentNode) = 1

However, this query returns all levels for that parent's branch. If I just wanted list of employees that were at the lowest level of the branch(es) for this parent node, how would I do this?

Transactions = Table Level Or Row Level ?

Nov 29, 2006

When you utilize transactions in ADO.NET are the locks put on the entire TABLE used or at the row level?
For instance if you do a SELECT within a transaction if you only pull 5 rows out of a 1000 row table can you just make it lock the rows that have been pulled?  It seems like it locks the entire table?

Thanks

A Transport-level Error Has Occurred When Receiving Results From The Server. - After Installing New Instance Of SQL Server 2005 W/NO App Changes

Sep 27, 2006

We've devoted a resource to this today, but I have to believe it's something easy that we're overlooking.  The scneario is that we have a production Web application that until last weekend had a SQL 2000 back end.  This weekend we installed a new instance of SQL 2005 and everything works (we tested in a sandbox environment, but someone must not have load tested enough) and never saw these exceptions.   So, after the upgrade we now receive 100's of thexe SQL excptions per day:A transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. We use .Net C# SQLConnection class to connect to SQL express 2005 impersonating with admin credentials. After getting the connection we try to execute a select command and it some time fails with following error:
A transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. This happen only in the non-admin scenario mentioned above. Any idea what is triggering this?

A Transport-level Error Has Occurred When Sending The Request To The Server

Hi all,

I am new to SQL 2005. I have one issue and it is as follows:

I write a simple query and run it; it works fine.

Now I break the network connection and run the query; in this case it runs fine.

But when I reconnect the network and run the query, then I get an error as follows:

"A transport-level error has occurred when sending the request to the server. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 0 - An unexpected network error occurred.) "

Every thing is local here. So how the network issue comes here?

Nov 27, 2006

Hi all,

I

Since the number of records are more , the time taken for the storede

But I need to execute it from Visula Studio.Net 2005
(c#). Whole of the application contains only one form with a single
button. When I click on the button , this stored procure has to be
executed. But I am getting an error as shown below.
"A
transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the
server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - The specified network name

Database used is SqlServer 2000

How to solve this error?. Any ideas are really appreciated.

A Transport-level Error Has Occurred When Sending The Request To The Server

Oct 16, 2006

I've tried to search on the web for a solution for this error but i didn't find any working solutions for this problem. We have 2 servers. The first one is the server we use to develop our ASP.NET 2 application. On this server we don't have this error. On the other server (use by our client) we have this error sometime and i don't know why. Both servers have the same configuration and both application have the same web.config file.

I've tried to add a try-catch and retry the query when the error occured. This seems to be working but we don't want to have to change all our connections and since we don't have this problem on the other server we want to find the source of the problem.

Any idea ?

Thanks !

Transferring MS Access Tables To SQL Server 2005: PRODUCT LEVEL TOO LOW Error

Jun 27, 2007

Hi,

I am using MS Access 2003 SP2 to maintain some data tables. I use SSIS to transfer them to SQL Server 2005, Enterprise Edition.

When I run the SSIS package from within Visual Studio 2005, the package runs without error.

When I try to run the same SSIS package by double-clicking on it in my File System (which invokes the Execute Package Utility, Version: 1.0) none of the tables get copied. Instead all I receive is a message for each table,

Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_PRODUCTLEVELTOLOW. The product level is insufficient for component "Data Conversion 1" (49).

The only data conversion I perform is double-byte characters to single-byte characters.

Bob Bojanic, MSFT, made a few suggestions about this in another thread -- but I have created this new thread to help focus on this specific issue. In particular, he asked if we have installed the complete SSIS support for SQL Server 2005, Enterprise Edition, and my network support and database support staff assure me that such complete SSIS support was installed.

Are others having this problem?

Dan

(I just took a look at some of the transformations in the Data Conversion task, and many of them are using an Output Alias identical to the Input Column name. Might that be causing the problem? I will try changing the Output Alias for some tables and see if they then transfer correctly. The "identical name" Output Alias values were created by the Migration Wizard for a DTS 2000 package.)

And I am unable to see this trigger work on the view if any insert/update occurs on base table level.
