Why don't you folks (SQL SERVER Management Studio Team or SQL SERVER Database Engine Team) provide an option by using which I would be in a position to know what all the other objects are depended on a selected object and vice versa. That means:
When I select a Table within the SQL SERVER Management Studio if there is an option for understanding "Which all the objects (tables or views) it is depended on (I mean Foreign key and etc... kind of relations) and also Which all the objects (Tables, Views, Stored Procedures and etc...) are using this table", It would be of great help for all developers.

SQL 2012 :: Can't Find Object From Page ID
Sep 17, 2014I got an error that says to run DBCC CHECKTABLE, but I can't find what table it is. It gives the db id and page Id. I ran DBCC PAGE but I could not figure out what object is using that page. I posted the error and dbcc page results below. Also, Slot 74 is not missing. I could not find m_objId or AllocUnitId in any system tables . Also, I got the same error for this db several other times. When I ran dbcc checkdb I did not get any errors. This is a SQL 2012 db created by SharePoint.
Why is m_nextPage and m_prevPage = (0:0) ?
Does the m_type=3 change how a page is linked?
I found Type 3 – text mix page. A text page that holds small chunks of LOB values plus internal parts of text tree. These can be shared between LOB values in the same partition of an index or heap.

May 5, 2015I'm trying to run an Insert on tables using a User Login but I keep getting the error above. I ran the insert using my own credentials and it worked. The User LOGIN in question has read & write permission to the database.

Cannot View Sql Server Object Properties In Vstudio .net 2003

Sudenly I stoped being able to view sql server object properties in the visual studio properties window . When I selected an sql server object in the server explorer i could see its properties in the prop. window . Now I can't see them anymore, the properties window apears blank.
Can anyone tell what do I need to do to be able to view them again.

SQL 2012 :: Get Object Type For Synonym Base Object?
Jun 17, 2014I need to get the object type (view, table ...etc) for a synonym base object inside a script. The only place where I see something related to this stored is in column "base_object_name" in sys.synonyms but there I can see only the same with format [database].[user/schema].[name]. After some testing playing with different users without specifying database/schema I think that maybe the object_id must be stored in a another place, my first idea was parent_object_id in sys.synonyms but it isn't stored there.
know if object_id for the base object is stored in any other place ?

For example if I have the string Like '123756zxfggr123456' then it will show me only 123456 or if i have the string like

I got a function where it gives me all the numbers in a string but I don't need that

SQL Server 2012 :: View Not Displaying All Results
Aug 7, 2014I have created a view thats pulling data from two different tables to combine them into one report.
table 1 lists the client code and table 2 lists the client partner and they're linked by a variable.
When running the report the result shows the client codes with their respective partner however any client codes that didn't have a partner are not displaying in the report and I need all client codes to be displayed even if there's no partner.
Is there a way I can make this display all results and if the client partner doesn't exist for it to still display as 'Null' for the partner but still display the client code?

Jul 22, 2014I have a table (represented by #Events) that holds modifications made to another table. I do have some control over the table structure and indexing. I want to pull all of the change records that were made between two dates.
The tricky part is to include the previous version of each record, which will usually be found prior to the start date in question.
The code that I have provided below works. So you can use it to easily see what should be returned. But it's very slow in production.
Any better method to pull this data together?

Object Permissions, Can't Find
Nov 8, 2007I'm trying to identify the objects in master that the role public has select permissions on, but when I run this query, I get 4 results where the default schema is null and the major_id column does not correspond to any records in the sys.all_objects table. Where else can I look to find what objects these are. DBO is listed as the grantor.

I am using the funtion for one of the columns in my view that needs be to split and display the column into different columns. The view takes for ever to run and finally it doesn't split and doesn't display in the column.

SQL Server 2012 :: View Results Not Displaying Nil Columns
Sep 5, 2014I have a view I've created which displays client sortname, partner and date added which displays 7 results.
When I add another table to this view to display the Industry it then only gives me 4 results as the other 3 results have no Industry instead of giving me the 7 results and showing the Industry column as empty for the other 3.
Is there a way I can make it show all 7 results and havethe column where the industry is empty display the other results instead of not displaying any results at all for them?

SQL 2012 :: Indexed View On Replicated Server Is Very Slow
Sep 10, 2014So we got ServerA.dbA and ServerB.dbB and looks like nobody thought about that MVew. IT works thru linked server now, so surely enough it sucks..
Then even more: we got piece of DW on ServerRep with replcicated pieces of ServerA and ServerB, how it works I asked: "Don't worry man, we took care of everything, go directly to ServerRep for everything..."
And I see that our MView sucks even deeper, practically 0 performance, I think what going on it's still hit that linked server between ServerA.dbA and ServerB.dbB on background.I still can use it on ServerRep WITH NOEXPAND hint, which means it was properly defined...
Can we have that scenario at all? Or we can replicate all Tables on ServerRep and then define/redefine this view directly on replicated server ?

Aug 8, 2015I have a view that joins a dozen tables with a million rows added per year by an application. I want to materialize it. The view is always filtered by date first on reports, then there are a few key transaction keys, but then many other fields required to make each row unique. I don't want to add these columns since they are large, many, not used for sorting or filtering, and may not define uniqueness in a future application design. I need a uniqueifier that is application agnostic. I prefer a bigint. So to store the materialized view ideally for reporting, I want to add the following clustered index to materialize the view:

And I get this error:

Dec 2, 2013I have created some dynamic sql to check a temporary table that is created on the fly for any columns that do contain data. If they do the column name is added to a dynamic sql, if not they are excluded. This looks like:

However, I am currently running this on over 230 columns and large tables 1.3 mil rows and it is quite slow. How I can dynamically create a sql script that only selects the columns in the table where there is data in a speedier manner. Unfortunately it has to be on the fly because the temporary table is created on the fly.
