Should I be able to use a SQL Server Compact Edition sdf file as the data source for the SSIS Import and Export Wizard?
When I select the .net Framework Provider for compact Edition from the data source drop down, I get a message box with "An error occured which the SSIS Wizard was not prepared to handle. Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. (mscorlib) Specified method is not supported. (System.Data.SqlServerCe)"
We have a user with a sdf file that will no longer sync, so we wanted to get her data from sdf file tables into SQL Server tables quickly and easily. Since the SSIS wizard wouldn't work with the sdf data source, we copied SQL Server Mgmt Studio query results into an Excel spreadsheet via the Clipboard, them imported those records with SSIS. But we need a repeatable process in case this happens in the future.
We tried to reinitialize her merge replication subscription with SQL Server Mgmt studio, and with C# code, but none of that would work.
How many MS data provider options are available for SQL Server compact edition? I see ".Net Framework Data Provider for Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition" in the SSIS data source drop down, but shouldn't I also see an OLE-DB Provider for SQL Server Compact Edition?
This is all on my XP workstation where I can successfully write C# code for SQL Server Compact data access with Assembly = System.Data.SqlServerCe = C:Program FilesMicrosoft Visual Studio 8Common7IDEPublicAssembliesSystem.Data.SqlServerCe.dll. So I think I have the proper tools installed.
I am importing xml multiple times a day from a vendor. However when SSIS created the ID's for nested XML data it is not unique. So importing the first time and I get 3-4 records it looks fine. However subsequent imports all use the same ID's so it isn't unique, how do I go about changing this as I cant find anything about it.
I am using VS2012 and creating a package on a 64bit machine to import some data from a .xlsx file. My question is that I am getting an error for the Excel connection manager, do I need to install some kind of excel drive or excel itself on the machine in order to be able to import the data?
I am using vs 2010 and I have an .xls file that I am trying to import into SQL Server 2012, and I have most of it figured out, but I have a date field that is giving me problems, and what I would like to do is put that date in a variable so I can add it to every record in my SQL Table.
I am using a SQL Task Editor with an excel connection and I have no problem getting other data from the excel document and putting into my variable, its just the date that I have problems.
I'm trying to use Excel in SSIS to import the data from spreadsheet to a staging table. The package runs well from the web server using SSMS. But when I deploy and try to execute the package, I'm getting the below error. I've a question, whether I've to install the AccessDatabaseEngine driver in SQL database server or the web server where I'm executing the SSIS?
Error: The requested OLE DB provider Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 is not registered. If the 64-bit driver is not installed, run the package in 32-bit mode.
I am building a bunch of packages on our new server and all was going well until I edited the project using the client tools on my PC. I now receive the below error if I try to execute any of the packages on the server (all is still fine on the client). I have scoured the net but I don't seem to be able to come up with a solution. I have tried altering the folder & object permissions for my login (that created the project on the server and edited using the client) but I still get the error.

I am trying to simplify a query given to me by one of my collegues written using the query designer of Access. Looking at the query there seem to be some syntax differences, so to see if this was the case I thought I would import the database to my SQL Server Developer edition.
I tried to start the wizard from within SQL Server Management Studio Express as shown in one of the articles on MSDN which did not work, but the manual method also suggested did work.
Trouble is that it gets most of the way through the import until it spews forth the following error messages:
- Prepare for Execute (Error) Messages Error 0xc0202009: {332B4EB1-AF51-4FFF-A3C9-3AEE594FCB11}: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005. An OLE DB record is available. There does not seem to be any method of specifying a number of sessions, so I don't see how to get round the problem.
Does anyone know how I can get the import to work?
have tried to import data from a big (257Mb, I has about 1.000.000) flat file into a table, inside SSIS. The process doesnt work correctly. It stops in the same register (about 179.000). I have reviewed the process and have opened the file making it shorter (about 150.000 lines, including the line that before seems to break the process), and it works. Making the file longer it breaks the process again.
The error showed by the program:

Anybody knows what could be happening?
Any help would be very appreciated
Thanks
PD: I mean that its not a date format problem (I have reviewed some post talking about it)
HI I'm still in the middle of this 2000 to 2005 64 bit migration!! I have managed to create an oledb connection to my informix db. Within the data flow I wanted to create a simple data pump from my infdormix db to S2K5 db.
Now in the OLEDB source I have done a select froma table to which I can view. I also set the always use default code page to true.
On the error box I get
[OLE DB Source [1]] Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER. Also when I try to execute it I get

I have changed the size of the column "ArticleName" (varchar) to max but the error comes up again.
The data i want to import came with multiple flat files. They all could import properly but this one is a problem.
I'm importing data from Navision 3.70A Database (not MS SQL Server) with SSIS and data reader via odbc.
Works perfect until I try to import a table which has a column including cells with | (pipe symbol) and .. (dots) between numbers.

No error message exist before this message.
Is there an option to allow or a workaround? Maybe a replace function in the sql command can help but I have no sql manual for the native database of navision. Can somebody help with an example of a query?
I can read this table with Excel via ODBC without problems ...
I'm trying to do a simple flat file import of a .csv file. The task keeps failing on me and I get the following error
Error: 0xC0047021 at Data Flow Task, DTS.Pipeline: Thread "WorkThread0" has exited with error code 0xC0047039
I looked up the error codes and the only information I can find is that a thread is failing. What would cause this and how can I fix it? I can open the same file in Excel without any problems. I'd really appreciate any insight that anyone has to offer.
I am attempting to run an SSIS package that, among other things, imports a spreadsheet from excel into a database table. The package runs without any issues within Visual Studio. I have tried executing the package through both, the MSDB run package and through dtexec (trying to kick of the package through a stored procedure) and I get 2 different behaviors.
Using dtexec (the method I really need to use): The package will run successfully...up to the point when the spreadsheet is imported at which time it fails with Description: The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "Excel Connection Manager" failed with error code 0xC0202009. Here is the code:
Running it through the MSDB Run Package UI...It will also make it up to the point where the Excel spreadsheet is imported but errors with: The Product level is insufficient for the component "Lookup Station and Account Type: (1894) ...and 1 line with that same error for every single task in that dataflow. Here is the code it runs.
/DTS "MSDBPopulateTRTLStationandtRTLUnitMapping" /SERVER "SERVERNAME" /MAXCONCURRENT " -1 " /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING V
The machine is running 32 bit OS Windows Server 2003 SP1 and Db SQL Server 2005 32 bit. I found one forum posting that suggested turning the Delay Validation property to True...but that did not fix the issue. I did create the package with my username with a ProtectionLevel of EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey. I don't think it is related to the account however because all of the tasks (serveral work tables are created) up to the Excel import will execute.
I really need to get this working as soon as possible so am open to any solutions someone can present.
I want to import a data file into a sql table. The table has a primary key but the data could have a duplicate value in the PK column (error in the source data). How can I "trap" for this type of error in SSIS?
I am fetching large amount of data from teradata to sql server using linked server. I am facing below query:
A transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - The semaphore timeout period has expired.)
I have a dtsx import script which import a delimeted csv file into a sql 2012 table. The default of the output length for all columns is set to 50 characters. All records which do not comply goes to another table in the same database. When I ran the script, all the records goes to the error table. I have now found a way to retrieve the column id and the error message to find that some column are been truncated and do not import.
I now need to know which column is given the error. The import file have more than 300 columns and I do not want to go and check each column length.I am using visual studio 2010 and using visual basic. I have found a sample of C+,but the screen shots is very small and when I type in the command,i do not compile.
We have over 400 import scripts and I could really use this in all of them to trouble shoot.
I need to consume a live data feed from a golf tournament. And by consume, I really mean insert (merge) into our own SQL Server database on a regular intervals as a tournament progresses. This site didn't let me upload an XML file, but you can see a sample of the data feed here: URL....
I need to insert this data into 2 tables, Player_Holes and Player_Shots. But while doing the insert, I need to lookup several things such as our player ID match to theirs on an external_id against the players table. The shot types translation, and some other logic about the process overall.
The columns in my player_holes tables are: id, player_id, hole_id, round, shots (this is a total # of strokes) and date_created/date_modified.Shots table is similar: id, player_id, hole_id, round, shot_number, shot_type_id, club, distance, date_created/date_modified.
The only way I know how to do it, is inefficient. I would parse the XML in ColdFusion (please no comments on ColdFusion, that's what we use for webdev), and then loop over it and do inserts for each player, each hole for each round, and the shots would probably be separate for each hole.
It would be so much better and more efficient if I could do it in SQL directly. I've done some research and SQL Server Data Tools looks promising. I've never used it, so would have to learn, but also I'm not sure if that'd work in this application when we want to run is as a scheduled task every few minutes.
I have someone who is sending me .htm documents, with a table in them, and I was wondering if there is a way to import the data from those tables into a SQL table, probably using an SSIS Package.
I'm using OpenRowSet to import about 30 columns from a csv file with 190 columns with a format file. Ultimately, I want to put this in an SSIS Package. I am receiving the following error when trying to import date and decimal info.
Bulk load data conversion error (type mismatch or invalid character for the specified codepage) for row 990, column 64 (TOTALSALES). There are several similar errors. I looked at this line and it is 17873.34 so I am not seeing the problem. Every value in the column is either 0 or a 2 digit decimal value. If I change the SQL Column and format file to to NVARCHAR, it imports fine.
The existing format file and SQL Column looks as follows. There are multiple errors referring to different columns and all of them seem to be valid decimals. I am having the same issue with date fields that exist in the csv as 20130521. If I bring it in as text, it is fine.
The SQL Column is defined as Decimal ((15,2), NULL))
I created a small csv file with representative decimal, date, integer and NVarchar fields and it imports into SQL fine as decimal and date info. The SQL Query used is pretty simple. Ultimately, I am planning to create a package that imports this data and joins to a production table based on values in the csv file. It will either update existing values in a Production Table or insert New Values
INSERT INTO Import.dbo.test1 SELECT * FROM OPENROWSET(BULK 'C:ShareImport.csv', FirstRow=2, FORMATFILE='C:ShareImport.xml' ) AS t1;
I am assuming there is bad data in the csv file but I'm not sure how to identify it as my test file seems to bring in date values with a format of 20140923 and 2 digit decimal values and that is what exists in the line numbers being referenced. I've not used OpenRow Set for this purpose before. The only workaround I've found is to bring it all in as text and create additional fields so I can cast or convert the date values which I'd rather not do as this process seems to work in my small sample file.
I'm pulling data from XML into tables, but I'm unsure how to link the data after it's imported. This example has names and tasks, and I can pull the data into two tables, but I can't find any way to link the task to the appropriate person. My person and task tables populate without issue, but there's nothing I can find to link the rows together. So in this example Test 1 would go to the first two Tasks and Test 2 would go to the second two work items.
I used sql server 2012 express Import and Export Data (32-bit) wizard to import data from excel 2010 to a given table. But I got the following error message: Error 0xc0202009: Data Flow Task 1: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005.An OLE DB record is available. Is it possible to import packages in batch into MSDB (in lieu of right clicking and importing each one by one)? We have a lot of packages that are going through a lot of changes so a batch import would save a lot of time.
I am getting this error when connecting to Oracle db. I tried using Microsoft OLEDB provider for Oracle it give me error and tells me the error could not be retrieved from Oracle. When I try the Native OLDDB provider for Oracle I get

I have created a SSIS dtsx package file on my file system that I want to manipulate in .NET
The package gets an access DB file and the a Preparation SQL Task creates the necessary sql statements for the data flow task. The data flow maps the tables from the source to the destination and then if you execute the package, it copies the Access DB into SQL Server.
My problem is, I want to manipulate this package in code, so that I can change the path to the source Access DB and then re execute the Preparation SQL Task so it recreates the new SQL statements, and then I want to update the data flow so that I it uses the new SQL and creates the necessary tables.
How is this possible in .NET
I have looked everywhere and have found some topics but with no luck.
Im getting the following error when I try to export from Oracle 9i and import into SQL Server 2005 using Oracle and SQL OLE DB Provider's respectively.
Cannot retrieve the column code page infor from the OLE DB Provider. If the component supports the "DefaultCodePage" property, the code page from that property value will be used. I know there is a way to change the property settings for the OLE DB Provider in the Data flow section of the development studio BUT ...
1) Is there a way to change this outside of the development studio?
2) I can't create the package to setup in the studio because even when I uncheck execute immediately and check save package, it still fails and never creates anything.
We made SSIS package in dev environment in windows 2008R2 and SQL server 2012. I have a text file I am trying to import into SQL Server using OLEDB connection.
It's a fixed field text file, ragged right format. One of my columns maps to a numeric column in the DB. In some spots in the file, it is blank, in others there is actual numeric data.
I can't get it to import. If I set the text file column to numeric, I get an error "That value could not be converted because of a potential loss of data." If I set the text file column to string, I get a similar error from the OLE DB provider, "Invalid character value for cast specification"
I have tried telling it to retain nulls in the data flow and the other way as well. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?
I'm trying to create an import package using BIDS. I'm using SQL Server 2008. The data is saved as a .csv file so that I can use the flat file option for data source. The issue I am having is that when I preview the flat file after selecting it as the datasource, some of the data that have the numeric file format are showing up as non numeric, for instance the value -1,809,575,682,700 is being viewed as ""1 and the package is giving a conversion error.
