SQL Server 2012 :: Last 30 Days Aggregate Query
Dec 1, 2014
I'm trying to write a query that returns last 30 days data and sums the amount by day. However I need to do it for every year not just the current one(I need to go back as far as 2000).
declare @t table (id int identity(1,1), dt datetime, amt MONEY)
insert into @t (dt, amt)
select '2014-11-30 23:39:35.717' as dt, 66 as amt UNION ALL
select '2014-11-30 23:29:16.747' as dt, 5 as amt UNION ALL
select '2014-11-22 23:25:33.780' as dt, 62 as amt UNION ALL
[Code] ....
--expected output
select '2014-11-30' AS dt, 71 AS Amt UNION ALL
select '2014-11-22' AS dt, 62 AS Amt UNION ALL
select '2014-11-20' AS dt, 66 AS Amt UNION ALL
select '2014-11-18' AS dt, 102 AS Amt UNION ALL

I am trying to tie together tables that show quantities of a product committed to an order and quantities on hand by a location.
My end result should look like the below example.
Item Location QtyOnHandByLocation SumQtyCommitTotal
Prod1 NJ 10 10
Prod1 NY 10 0
Prod1 FL 0 0
Prod1 PA 0 0
So I can see I have 10 items in NJ On Hand and Committed to an order. 10 available in NY but not on an order. Then the other two locations have no quantities.
Below is the CTE but it produces inaccurate results. I've tried running it several different ways by playing with the grouping but have no luck thus far.
--create the temp table
Create table #SalesLine
(
Novarchar (50) not null
, LocationCodevarchar (50) not null
, QtyCommitint not null
)
create table #ItemLedgerEntry
[code]....
I am close to the desired results but can't find a way.

i'm building a query to return metrics that will drive 3 seperate pivot tables showing
1. Total count of LineItems per D_Type each month
2. Total count of LineItems per Status each month
3. Avg count of LineItems per Invoice each month
I am able to get the first two, but having hard time with the 3rd.
Here's some representative ddl
create table Remediation
(Invoice nvarchar(10), D_Type nvarchar(20), Status nvarchar(20), RemediationDate datetime);
insert into Remediation values
--this will create data for Jan, 2014
('501', 'Recycle', 'Pass', getdate()-30),
('501', 'Reuse', 'Pass', getdate()-30),
('501', 'Remarket', 'Fail', getdate()-30),
[code]....
how to add the average metric to this query?

I am trying to create an aggregate table where the value is a rolling sum. Type a on date 1 is the sum of the values in the main tbl. Type a on date 2 is the sum of values for type a on date 1 and date 2. Is this possible? I have been trying update t sql with sum(case where date <= date) statements but can't get it to run.
create table main_table (type nvarchar(10), date int, datavalues int);

select count (*) from MEMBERS,dbo.MEMBER_PROFILE
where MEMBER_PROFILE.member_no = members.member_no
AND JOIN_DATE between '07-01-2013 00:01' and '07-31-2013 11:59'
and email <> 'selfbuy_customer@cafepress.com'
and ROOT_FOLDER_NO is not null

get the desired results for the following sample data set. I was able to come up with a query that returns the the expected results however only for a given day, so I'd need to union several select statements the get the desired results which is definitely not ideal. I'd like to pass a parameter in (number of days) instead of doing a unions for each select.
DECLARE @T TABLE (Id INT, Category VARCHAR(1), [Date] DATE)
INSERT INTO @T
SELECT 1 AS Id, 'A' AS Category, '2015-5-13' AS ActivationDate UNION ALL
SELECT 1, 'A', NULL UNION ALL
SELECT 1, 'A', '2015-5-13' UNION ALL

In a t-sql 2012 query that will be updated in a stored procedure I am getting the following warning message:
Warning: Null value is eliminated by an aggregate or other SET operation. I would like to get rid of this warning missing without just turning off the warning messages.
I would like to change the sql so that it does not occur. The following is my new sql that generates the warning:
case when (coalesce(a.status,ae.status) = 'A') and (IsNull(ae.excuse, 'U') = 'U') and (IsNull(ae.code, 'DRC') = 'DRC') then
sum(DATEDIFF(minute,pm.startTime,pm.endTime)-coalesce(pm.lunchTime,0)-coalesce(a.presentMinutes,0)) else 0 end as DRCMinutes,
The sql is part of a select statement.

So I am trying to work out the difference between today's date (GETDATE()) and a Target Date in a specific table (targetdate)
When I use the DATEDIFF function it is including non working days in the calculation (weekends and bank holidays). Although our date calandar table provided to us from a third party supplier will tell you the weekends, it does not tell you the bank holidays.
Luckily there is another table in the database called - ih_non_work_days.
The format of the date is "2014-12-25 00:00:00.000" for example in that table.
How do I using my "targetdate" and today's date calculate in days the differance - excluding the dates that exist in the ih_non_work_days database?
So for now my basic script looks like -
SELECT com.comm_reference AS 'Referance'
,com.current_task_target_date AS 'TargetDate'
, DATEDIFF(D,com.current_task_target_date,GETDATE()) AS 'Incorrect Date Calculation'
FROM [dbo].[em_communication] as com

I have a date that I need to add 'n' number of business days to. I have a calendar table that has a 'IsBusinessDay' flag, so it would be good if I was able to use this to get what I need. I've tried to use the 'LEAD' function in the following way;
SELECT A. Date, B.DatePlus3BusinessDays
FROM TableA A
LEFT JOIN (Select DateKey, LEAD(DateKey,3) OVER (ORDER BY datekey) AS DatePlus3BusinessDays FROM Calendar WHERE IsBusinessDay = 1) B ON A.DateKey = B.DateKey
Problem with this is that because I am filtering the Calendar for business days only, when there is a date that is not a business day in TableA, a NULL is being returned.
Is there any way to do a conditional LEAD, so it skips rows that are not business days? Or do I have do go with a completely different approach?

I'm trying to write a query to select various columns from 3 tables. In the where clause I use a set of conditions, but most important condition is that I only want to see all results from the different columns where the ph.ProdHeaderDossierCode contains at least 25 lines of processed hours. I tried this with group by and having, but I constant get error messages on all other columns that I want to see: "is invalid in the select list because it is not contained in either an aggregate function or the GROUP BY clause". How can I make this so I can see all information I need?

I have the table below and like to create a view to show the no of days the property was vacant or void and rent loss per month. The below explanation will describe output required
For example we have a property (house/unit/apartment) and the tenant vacates on 06/09/2014. Lets say we fill the property back on 15/10/2014. From this we know the property was empty or void for 39 days. Now we need to calculate the rent loss. Based on the Market Rent of the property we can get this. Lets say the market rent for our property is $349/pw. So the rent loss for 39 days is 349/7*39 = $1944.43/-.
Now the tricky part and what im trying to achieve. Since the property was void or empty between 2 months, I want to know how many days the property was empty in the first month and the rent loss in that month and how many days the property was empty in the second month and the rent loss incurred in that month. Most of the properties are filled in the same month and only in few cases the property is empty between two months.
As shown below we are splitting the period 06/09/2014 - 15/10/2014 and then calculating the void days and rent loss per month
Period No of Void Days Rent Loss
06/09/2014 - 30/09/2014 24 349/7*24 = 1196.57
01/10/2014 - 15/10/2014 15 349/7*15 = 747.85
I have uploaded a screenshot of how the result on this link: [URL] ....
Declare @void Table
(
PropCode VARCHAR(10)
,VoidStartDate date
,LetDate date
,Market_Rent Money

I have a specific variation on the standard 'Column Invalid' question: I have this query that works fine:
SELECT vd.Question ,
csq.Q# ,
csq.Q_Sort ,
csq.Q_SubSort ,
AVG(CAST(vd.Response AS FLOAT)) AS AvgC ,
vd.RType
[Code] ....
When I add this second average column like this:
SELECT vd.Question ,
csq.Q# ,
csq.Q_Sort ,
csq.Q_SubSort ,
AVG(CAST(vd.Response AS FLOAT)) AS AvgC ,
[Code] ....
I get the error: Column 'dbo.vwData.Response' is invalid in the select list because it is not contained in either an aggregate function or the GROUP BY clause.
Clearly things are in the right place before the change, so I can only assume that the OVER clause is my problem. Is this just not possible?

I tried too:
select *, DATEDIFF(day, m1.date, j2.data) from matches m1, matches m2

Also, if “Due Date” is less than or equal to system date by 30 days, put “Yes” in “30 Days Overdue” and same for the 60 and 90 days.how to write this Case Statement? I have some answers how to do it in SSRS (Report Designer) but I want to get the results using T-SQl.

I want to create a custom bitwise OR aggregate function.
I want to use it like the built in aggregate functions (MIN, MAX etc.)
SELECT dbo.bitwise_or(bit_string) FROM table
where bit_string is a nvarchar(3)
so for example if the table contains two rows ('100', '001') the above query should return '101'
I would like to implement this as a CLR function/assembly with the aggregate below:
CREATE AGGREGATE dbo.bitwise_or (bit_string nvarchar(3))
RETURNS [nvarchar(3)]
EXTERNAL NAME [Aggregate].[bitwise_or]
I have followed this post to implement amedian aggregate function [URL] ..... but there is a lot of code (not sure what is really needed in my case).

How to write a query that calculate the number of days (approx) that it takes to a customer to pay an invoice.
Document Types
1 Payment
2 Invoice
3 Credit Memo
4 Finance Charge Memo
5 Reminder
6 Refund
There are three methods to consider when calculating the days to pay logic.
Method 1 - Simple : Look for Document Type 2 (Invoice), if "closed at date" > "posting date" then number of days = ("closed at date" - "posting date")
Method 2 - A Document Type 1 (payment) closes a Document Type 2 (Invoice)
For this method the formula would be: Payment Record (1) "posting date" - Invoice Record (2) "posting date"
Method 3 - An Invoice closes the payment.
On a payment entry “closed by entry no.” refers to an Invoice entry.
a. In our code we are not on the payment looking for the invoice, we are on the invoice.
i. Because of this we need to find the entry that our current invoiced has closed.
I am taking this from a page that has the pascal code that I need to translate to SQL.
IF (CustLedgEntry2."Document Type" = CustLedgEntry2."Document Type"::Invoice) AND
NOT CustLedgEntry2.Open
THEN
IF CustLedgEntry2."Closed at Date" > CustLedgEntry2."Posting Date" THEN
UpdateDaysToPay(CustLedgEntry2."Closed at Date" - CustLedgEntry2."Posting Date")
[Code] ....
I am also including create table and insert data scripts ...

I am trying to exclude records that have an assessed value that has been waived in an aggregation. For Example:
Here is my table:
CREATE TABLE #temptable (ReportingMonth Varchar(6), Fee_Code Varchar(20), Fee_Transaction_Amount Decimal(12,2), Fee_Transaction_Date Datetime, Fee_Transaction_Type Char)
INSERT INTO #temptable (ReportingMonth, Fee_Code, Fee_Transaction_Amount, Fee_Transaction_Date, Fee_Transaction_Type)
SELECT 'Jan-13', 'ONE TIME DRAFT FEE', '20', '01/24/2013', 'A'
UNION ALL SELECT 'Feb-13', 'LATE CHARGE', '33.6', '02/19/2013', 'A'
UNION ALL SELECT 'Mar-13', 'LATE CHARGE', '37.01', '03/18/2013', 'A'
[code]....
Here are Data Mapping Description
Reporting Month = Month - Year
Fee Code = Fee Description Name
Fee Transaction Amount = Fee Amount
Fee Transaction Date = When Fee Amount was Applied
Fee Transaction Type = "A" = Assessed Fee; "W" = Waived Fee; "P" = Paid Fee
I've also included an image with beginning data set and what I want to identify in red and what my final data set should look like after the exclusion of those 4 records are removed.
Here are the logic requirements:In the attachment what I need the logic to do is essentially identify the $20 One Time Draft Fee from the first instance using the MIN Transaction date. Since there were $80 waived for this fee code (One Time Draft Fee), I would expect to see the first 4 (highlighted in red) to be identified as the target and as you can see in the attachment the second data set had the 4 highlighted items removed. That should be my final output.
trying to loop and remove the waive amounts from the assess amounts and tied it back to remove from my base data.

Hi,
I have we have a client who gives their invoices in a flat file format, we import it into a SQL Server table.
Nothing is normalized – everything is repeated in every record. The fields are:
customerNumberInvoice_numberPO_numberQtyDescriptionLine_numberLine_totalFreightTaxInvoice_date
So an if an order has 10 line items, the header information (invoice number, PO number, ivoice date) are repeated on each of the lines
I am writing a query to show the following
Order number, Invoice total, Date
select invoice_no, sum(line_total + freight + tax) as invoiceTotal, customerNumber, Invoice_date from invoices group by invoice_no, Invoice, customerNumber
This works great - for each invoice I get the invoice number, InvoiceTotal, and Date
Then I was asked to add the PO Number – this is where I can’t get it right.
When I added “PO_number? to the query, I got two lines for each invoice
select invoice_no, sum(line_total + freight + tax) as invoiceTotal, customerNumber, Invoice, PO_number from invoices group by invoice_no, Invoice, Sold_To_Cust_No, PO_number
Please help - I need to end up with: invoice_no, invoiceTotal, customerNumber, Invoice_date and PO_number (sequence does not matter)

Hi all. Here's my question:
I have a database table that contains rows containing defect data. The two columns I'm interested in are device and severity. Device is the name of an item that contains the defect, and severity can be one of three values. I'd like to query the table so it shows the device, and the number of instances of each of the three values for that device. For example, the result table should look like this:
device Severity 1 Severity 2 Severity 3
Widget 12 15 24
In this example, There are 51 rows containing Widget as the device. 12 have severity 1, 15 have severity 2, and 24 have severity 3.
Seems like it should be a pretty simple query, but I'm kinda new to SQL and I'm having trouble. Help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

I have a table similar to the following:
ID ¦ Name ID ¦ Period From ¦ Period To ¦ Percentage ¦
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Important - Each person can have more than one entry.
What I am trying to do is get the last percentage that each person obtained.
The only way I have been able to do this is by the following:
SELECT * FROM myTable
LEFT OUTER JOIN ( SELECT NameID, MAX(PeriodTo) as PeriodTo FROM myTable GROUP BY NameID) t1
ON myTable.NameID = t1.NameID
WHERE myTable.PeriodTo = t1.PeriodTo
I was wondering if there was another way of doing this, or whether this is an efficient method of doing this kind of query. Jagdip

Hi all,
I need to build a query that aggregates the orders that have the same items,ex:.
ORDERS:
ID NUMBER
------------ ----------
1 123
2 456
3 789
ITEMS:
ORDERFK NAME
------------ --------
1 A
1 B
2 A
2 C
3 A
3 B
the result should be:
TOT_ORDERS:
NEW_ID QUANT
------------ ---------
1 2
2 1
NEW_ITEMS:
TOT_ORDERFK NAME
----------------- --------
1 A
1 B
2 A
2 C
Some ideia?
