I have 2 tables People and Scores. A person might have 1-5 scores (unknown at time of Query). I would like to query the two tables into a results table and if person does not have a record the score will be zero. Scores also have a test number so you know which score it is. I can get it done with Stored Proc but I have to use Temp tables and then put the temp tables together.
People Name ID Tom5 Dick2 Harry3 Larry4 Curly1 Scores PrimaryKeyPeopleIDScoreTestNumber 12801
What I really need is to find the entries that have the word LVAD but on either side there should be a space chartacters. In other words I don't want to see the following coming from the query "SILVADENE ([PHI] SULFADIAZINE)"How can we write this query to search only for any entry that has the word " LVAD " ?
Select top 100 * FROM tbl_abc where AIMS_Value like '%LVAD%'
Here the SELECT query is fetching the records corresponding to ITEM_DESCRIPTION in 5 separate transactions. How to change the cursor to display the 5 records in at a time in single transactions.
CREATE TABLE #ITEMS (ITEM_ID uniqueidentifier NOT NULL, ITEM_DESCRIPTION VARCHAR(250) NOT NULL)INSERT INTO #ITEMSVALUES(NEWID(), 'This is a wonderful car'),(NEWID(), 'This is a fast bike'),(NEWID(), 'This is a expensive aeroplane'),(NEWID(), 'This is a cheap bicycle'),(NEWID(), 'This is a dream holiday') --- DECLARE @ITEM_ID uniqueidentifier DECLARE ITEM_CURSOR CURSOR
Hello, I have problem for insert multiple query for insert in differenr tabels for a single record. If a Select is done on a column whose data type is nvarchar(16) and contains only numerals (UPC numbers) the select does not return the record.
1. Query with numerals in nvarchar column works as long as multiple records are returned (LIKE '012%') 2. Numeric (INT only one tested) columns works as expected 3. String columns with alpha data works as expected 4. Problem only exist when running in Device Emulator and/or actual device. 5. Same test on desktop app runs as expected. 6. Windows Mobile 6, Vista Ultimate 7. Same results when when connection to device from SSMS 8. SQL Servers comes on
Previous thread discussion of this problem (I thought that Parameters corrected problem, but not in all cases???)
I need to list customers in a table that represents sales over the years.
I have tables:
Customers -> id | name |... Orders -> id | idCustomer | date | ... Products -> id | idOrder | unitprice | quantity | ...
I am using this SQL but it only gets one year:
SELECT customers.name , SUM(unitprice*qt) AS total FROM Products INNER JOIN Orders ON Orders.id = Products.idOrder INNER JOIN Customers ON Customers.id = Orders.idCustomer WHERE year(date)=2014 GROUP BY customers.name ORDER BY 2 DESC
I need something like this:
customer | total sales 204 | total sales | 2015 | total sales (2014 + 2015) -------- customer A | 1000$ | 2000$ | 3000$ customer B | 100$ | 100$ | 200$
Is it possible to retrieve these values in a single SQL query for multiple years and grand total?
I have to write a statement that answers the question: "Which pilot is authorized to fly all the aircraft in the fleet?" implying that the individual aircraft could be of any of the three aircraft types.
Below are the tables with notation Tbl_name (important keys [clarification of keys]):
In words my question should be something like: "For all those who are authorized to fly aircraft (the only pers_id:s listed in the authorization table), show the names of those that have their pers_id:s next to all aircraft_type:s."
I've gotten this far:
Code:
SELECT DISTINCT p.name FROM personnel AS p, authorization AS b, aircraft_type AS f WHERE p.pers_id = b.pers_id AND b.type_designation = ... ;
Now what I want to accomplish is to select the pilot which has a record for ALL type_designation entries in the aircraft_type table.
Is there a magic keyword that I don't know of? Is that magic keyword called "EXIST" and how do I use it?
I have a windows nt server 4.0 .its having IIS4.0 as well as Ms sql server 7.0 installed. I am using ASP ( active server pages) to store the fields entered by the customers in the order processing form in my site( thats the default page--form)
this form calls the asp file and asp file successfully stores the fields in the corresponding table. Now the problem is that how can i configure my sql server in such a way that sql server can mail me( as i am the administrator) informing the new order placed by the customer.
I know sql mail , and i have already configured that also. but how can i create the trigger for the table updation?
i tried using the enterprise manager, i was using xp_sendmail. but sql says "the stored procedure can't be found"
Hello, In SQL Server Management Studio (2005), 'Open table' command or a SELECT query displays table rows in a grid (or text). Please tell how to view a single row at a time i.e. all only ONE row is displayed at a time (evenly arranged to cover the screen). This feature (Single record view) is available in other database client like TOAD. Thank You
I am trying to write a query that gives me the personal records from speed skaters on e.g. the 500 mtrs. I do this with the query:
SELECT cdsDistance AS Distance , prsFirstName , prsLastName , min(crtFinalTime) AS MinTime FROM tb....... INNER JOIN etc.. GROUP BY cdsDistance, prsFirstName, prsLastName ORDER BY min(crtFinalTime)
In itself this works fine. However, there are complicating factors. Sometimes a speed skater has multiple PRs, meaning the he/she has the same fastest time more than once.
If these times are achieved on multple days, the 1st date is the official PR. (meaning: "Min of racedate") If they are raced on the same day the 1st race is the PR (meaning: "Min of distancenumber")
Changing the code to:
SELECT cdsDistance AS Distance , prsFirstName , prsLastName , MIN(crtFinalTime) AS MinTime , MIN(cdsStartDate) AS RaceDate , MIN(cdsDistanceNumber) AS DistanceNumber
FROM tb....... GROUP BY cdsDistance, prsFirstName, prsLastName ORDER BY min(crtFinalTime)
This gives me the wrong outcome because it gives me the "MIN" of every field, and they are not necessarily on the same row.
An option would be to calculate min(crtFinalTime), if for a person there is more than 1 result, calculate min of date, and then (if there is still more than 1 row) min of distancenumber.
Seems complicated, and I have the feeling there must be a better way (apart from: how to get this code)
Stacking subqueries in the FROM statement seems like a option be costly (time wise). There are more than 10 million rows (and growing) to run through.
As an example a few times:
DistanceFirst nameLast name Time Date Distance nr. 500 Yuya Oikawa 34.49 201311155 500 Yuya Oikawa 34.49 201311153 500 Yuya Oikawa 34.49 201311172
Yuya has 3 best times (34.49), 15-11-2013 is the 1st date, then distance nr 3 is the 1st distance raced. Therefore the 2nd row is the only row I would like to get in my endresult.
where including/excluding a single column in an empty staging table would influence a resultset returning from distributed query? Both servers are SQL Server 2012. Nothing special about the staging table. It contains 12 columns with a mixture of INT and NVARCHAR(256) columns. In one case I exclude the column and the query returns in 17 seconds. When I include it the query does not return. Excluding the INSERT INTO the staging table and query returns in 17 secs with and without the column.
We are trying to do some utilization calculations that need to factor in a given number of holiday hours per month.
I have a date dimension table (dimdate). Has a row for every day of every year (2006-2015)
I have a work entry fact table (timedetail). Has a row for every work entry. Each row has a worked date, and this column has a relationship to dimdate.
Our holidays fluctuate, and we offer floating holidays that our staff get to pick. So we cannot hard code which individual dates in dimdate as holidays. So what we have done is added a column to our dimdate table called HolidayHoursPerMonth.
This column will list the number of holiday hours available in the given month that the individual date happens to fall within, thus there are a lot of duplicates. Below is a brief example of dimdate. In the example below, there are 0 holiday hours for the month of June, and their are 8 holiday hours for the month of July.
I have a pivot table create based of the fact table. I then have various date slicers from the dimension table (i.e. year, month). If I simply drag this column into the pivot table and summarize by MAX it works when you are sliced on a single month, but breaks if anything but a single month is sliced on.
I am trying to create a measure that calculates the amount of holiday hours based on the what's sliced, but only using a single value for each month. For example July should just be 8, not 8 x #of days in the month.
Listed below is how many hours per month. So if you were to slice on an entire year, the measure should equal 64. If you sliced on Jan, Feb and March, the measure should equal 12. If you were to slice nothing, thus including all 15 years in our dimdate table, the measure should equal 640 (10 years x 64 hours per year).
How to retrieve all possible sets of values from a table, with each set having a unique identifier.
Here's sample data, where any number of rows can be in the "animal" set:
select animal.name from ( select 'Cat' as name union all select 'Dog' union all select 'Bird' ) animalHere's what I'm trying to get:
[Code] ....
It'd be an easy task if I knew how many rows were in the set, but without knowing how many (and being able to do x number of cross joins and CUBE/ROLLUP to produce the list of permutations) or writing a horrid complex of while loops, I'm at a loss.
A single column. All permutations of the values in a single column. Perhaps I should stay off here nearer the end of the day .
CREATE Table #Table1 ( ID INT, Name VARCHAR(50), Class VARCHAR(10) ) INSERT INTO #Table1 Select 1, 'name1', 'a' UNION ALL Select 2, 'name1', 'a' UNION ALL
[Code] ....
Is it possible to have each name and its corresponding class in a single line separated by commas to give a result like the one below in #table2 ?
CREATE Table #Table2 ( ID INT, CommaSeparated VARCHAR(100) ) INSERT INTO #Table2 Select 1, 'name1, a' UNION ALL
[Code] ...
What I have
Select * FROM #Table1
Final Result Select * FROM #Table2
Note that I still want to see all the IDs regardless.
If that is not possible to see all the IDs, I think the results below in #Table3 should suffice.
CREATE Table #Table3 ( CommaSeparated VARCHAR(100) ) INSERT INTO #Table3 Select 'name1, a' UNION ALL Select 'name2, b, c, d' UNION ALL Select 'name3, e, f' Select * FROM #Table3
declare @test as varchar(32) declare @test2 as varchar(32)
set @test='today''s problem' set @test2='my <string> '
select @test as '@attribute' for xml path ('myrow') select @test2 as '@attribute' for xml path ('myrow')
I want for xml path to correctly encode the single apostrophe as &apos but the single apostrophe doesn't get encoded. In the second example the greater and less than does get encoded.
have a Prod Server A having TDE enabled on 2 of those databases. I have a Prod Server B having TDE enabled on 3 of those databases. Now I have to create a single Dev server Server C for all the above 5 databases residing on the two servers. So how can I restore all the 5 database backup files on server C.
Does it mean that I need to copy the certificates and Keys from both the Prod server to this Dev Box and then restore the backup files. Once done, I can enable the encryption ON on those 5 database on Dev box or is there any different approach. Also how will tempdb behave in this scenario.
I have resulting rows from a query similar to the following:
The data is coming from a single table that contains only one coverage code column and one coverage code date, but the end user wants the two coverage code types and dates combined into a single row. So the SELECT looks something like this:
SELECT [Employee ID] = emp.employee_id, [Coverage Code 1] = enr.coverage_code, [Coverage Date 1] = enr.coverage_date, [Coverage Code 2] = case when enr.product_type = 'Accident.Accident' then enr.coverage_code else NULL end,
[Code] ....
I basically want to merge the like Employee ID's together into a single row like the following:
I know I have done this before and it is probably pretty simple.
I have a description field in a table which also stores unit of measure in the same column but with some space between them, I need to split these into two different columns.
1.First i need to update the row if the status column is 0 to 1 2.Need to insert the row IF SegmentId=@SegmentId and SubjectId<>@SubjectId and StaffId=@StaffId 3.Need to insert the row IF StaffId<>@StaffId And ClassId=@ClassId and SegmentId<>@SegmentId and SubjectId<>@SubjectId
I have wrote the stored procedure to do this. But the problem is If do the update. It is reflecting in the database by changing 0 to 1. But it shows error like cannot insert the duplicate
Here is the stored Procedure what i have wrote
ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[InsertAssignTeacherToSubjects]
I have a problem where I want to write a function to remove recurring characters from a string and replace them with a single same character.
For instance I have the string '12333345566689' and the result should be '12345689'. In Oracle I could do this with "regexp_replace('12333345566689', '(.)1+', '1')", but in T-SQL the only solution I could think of is something like this:
DECLARE @code NVARCHAR(255) SET @code = '12333345566689'; SET @code = REPLACE(REPLACE(REPLACE(@Code, '1', '~1'), '1~', ''), '~1', '1');
and repeat this for 2 - 9. But I'm sure there is a more elegant version for this in SQL Server 2012.
I am trying to insert values in a single table with four columns from 4 different sources. is it possible to run these 4 insertions in parallel. all these insertion are independent of each other
The following works in query if I specify one student (PlanDetailUID) when running query. If I try to specify multiple students (PlanDetailUID) when running query, I get variable cannot take multiple entries. I assume I would need to replace (variables) in PART 2 with (case statements / using select everywhere) to get around the issue or is there a better way ?
I can fetch the counts for total present and absent
Query i have tried is
Declare @StudentId Uniqueidentifier ='0B2D4D41-8D33-4D79-A981-03E0F093F458' Begin select A.StudentId ,A.Date,Count(Date)Total,B.Guid,
[Code] ....
AS result of this query i get the data.Present count and Absent count from date inserted in Dailyattendance tables.
SO my problem is if the student have promoted to next class then by this query it will count the before year also how do i need to calculate the count according to the Class StartDate and Enddate as i mention in the Class Details table what will be the query.
I would like solving the following issue using the Patindex function i cannot retrieve or extract the single numeric value as an example in the the values below i would like retrieve the Value 2, but in my result set the value 22 also appears or it is completely omitted.
how we can replace the multiple values in a single select statement? I have to build the output based on values stored in a table. Please see below the sample input and expected output.
