SQL Server 2012 :: Wrapping Of Text In HTML (XML)
Sep 3, 2015
I am using FOR XML to generate the HTML and following is my query. I am using td { white-space:nowrap;} for the columns to used no wrap. But i want two columns which need to be wrapped. i have tried lots of options.
SET @tableHTML =
N'<H3><font size="4"> Board - Items </font></H3>' +
N'<table border="1" ><font size="1"> <head><style TYPE="text/css"> td { white-space:nowrap;} </style> ' +
N'<tr bgcolor=#4b6c9e><font size="2" color=white><th> ID</th>
<th> A</th>
<th> B </th>
[Code] ...
From the above code i want G and H columns to be wrapped.

In some text boxes within the table header, I want to force the text to wrap. This would be comparable to using Alt+Enter in Excel. For example, the text box may read like this...
Customer
Install Date
but I want it to look like this...
Customer
Install
Date
Thanks.

I have a pivot table that connects to our data warehouse via a PowerPivot connection. Â The data contains a bunch of comment fields that are each between 250 and 500 characters. Â I've set the columns in this pivot table to have the 'Wrap Text' set to true so that the user experience is better, and they can view these comment fields more clearly.
However, whenever I refresh the data, the text wrapping un-sets itself. Â Interestingly, the 'Wrap Text' setting is still enabled, but I have to go and click it, then click it again to actually wrap the text. Â This is very burdensome on the user, and degrading the experience.
Any way to make this text wrapping stick so that I don't have to re-set it every time I refresh the data?

I am retrieving a field from SQL and displaying that data on a web page.
The data contains a mixture of text and html codes, like this "<b>test</b>".
But rather than displaying the word test in bold, it is displaying the entire sting as text.
How do I get it to treat the HTML as HTML?

I installed and configured SQL Server 2005 reporting services. When I try to connect to it using SQL Server Management Studio, I get the following error:
Client found response content type of "text/html", but expected "text/xml".
What should be done to overcome this?
Does anyone have any idea about this?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
I am getting these errors from Report Manager. It seems that every time after the server has been idling for about 15 minutes, I would get this error message. I can click on other links and I am able to continue to use Report Manager.
Is there a timeout setting to help me resolve this or is this a bug with Report Manager? I just insitalled SP2 on the SQL Server and the Reporting Service.
Error message on browser:

I have the following query that supposes to merge multiple result in a single one and put it into a temporary table:
SELECT DISTINCT [AlphaExtension],
STUFF((SELECT A.[NoteText] + '< BR />' FROM #temp A
WHERE A.[AlphaExtension]=B.[AlphaExtension]
FOR XML PATH('')),1,1,'') As [NoteText]
FROM #temp B
GROUP BY [AlphaExtension], [NoteText]
It is working fine unless by a simple detail. If you look at the second line of the query you will see that I am stuffing together a < BR /> tag (break line) because the contents of the field is going to be spitted directly to the screen and I want that the multiple results be displayed in different lines.
OK, the issue is that it is stuffing & lt ; BR / & gt ; instead < BR /> and therefore the browser is displaying the tag instead to break a line.

Hello,
I know this question has been asked here before, but it was ridiculously answered : http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=98764&SiteID=1
I have a text object on my crystal report, to which I programmatically want to assign text in CS. It all works fine, except that if I have html tags in there, the text doesn't get formatted, it just displays the html tags as text as well.
Now in thread linked above, the answer was: right click the text object, and format the text object, hit paragraph text and select text interpretation to HTML. The only problem is, that for a text object, it doesn't have the text interpretation option. It's only an option for a formula field. It says so in the tech support link posted inside the post itself!!!
So if you have any idea how I can do this, please someone help me out. I am new to crystal, and there's not much helpful info on it online. I've searched for this for hours, and no solution.
Thanks

I am working on a code that will convert the query output into a html query output. That is the output of the query will be along with html tags so that we can save it as a html file.
The stored procedure that i have used is downloaded from symantec website and is working fine. Below is the code of that stored procedure.
/****** Object: StoredProcedure [dbo].[sp_Table2HTML] Script Date: 12/21/2011 09:04:30 ******/
SET ANSI_NULLS ON
GO
SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
GO
ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[sp_Table2HTML] (
@TABLENAME NVARCHAR(500),
@OUTPUT NVARCHAR(MAX) OUTPUT,
[Code] ....
The code works fine and i am able to get the output with html tags. The problem occurs when i insert stylesheet in the code. I tried to enforce styles using a stylesheet for the table returned in my sql code, so that it will look good. below is the stylesheet code that i inserted between <head> and </head> tags.
<style type="text/css">table.gridtable { font-family: verdana,arial,sans-serif; font-size:10px; color:#333333;border-width:1px; border-color: #666666; border-collapse: collapse; } table.gridtable td {border-width: 1px; padding: 8px; border-style: solid; border-color: #666666; background-color: #ffffff;}</style>
If I run the procedure without the style sheet code, it works fine. but when i run the procedure with style sheet code i am getting the below errors.
Msg 105, Level 15, State 1, Line 98
Unclosed quotation mark after the character string '</table></body><'.
Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 98
Incorrect syntax near '</table></body><'.
[Code] .....
I checked the code and i am not able to find what is the mistake. I tried changing the quotation mark but it didn't worked.

Can I store HTML in a nvarchar, and use "full text search" to get around the tagging? For example, I'd like to store "hello <b>world</b>" and be able to find this with a query seeking "hello world." Can SQL Server 2k5 do this? If yes, what would the syntax look like from Management Studio?

Hi,
I just want to know how to search text/record inside the Html files. I had one column in my database named €˜Path€™ I saved the html file names in this column and the physical files in a folder. Full Text search is enabled on this column. Whenever I try to search it returns nothing.
Just need one small example to know how it works, what functions used to search inside the files and how.
Thanks

I ran a CONTAINS query for the word "target" in a bunch of index web pages. I came up with lots of matches -- but they were all inside html tags:

Is there a good way to exclude tags (and their attributes) from the full-text index?

I have a flat text file with lots HTML tags and corresponding valuesÂ
For exampleÂ
<Near_Side> 5563 </Near_Side>
<Top_Down_Code> Xe345 <Top_Down_Code>Â
So, For example I can use the a functionÂ
ALTER function dbo.StripHTML( @text varchar(max) ) returns varchar(max) as
begin
  declare @textXML xml
  declare @result varchar(max)
  set @textXML = REPLACE( @text, '&', '' );
[Code] ...
To which Select dbo.StripHTML('<Near_Side> 5563 </Near_Side>')  ValueÂ
I'll get 5563
However how would you get the values within the tag itself ? E.g.Â
Value NameÂ
5563 Near_side
Xe345 Â Â Â Top_Down_Code
I was thinking along the Charindex but cant seem to get it right.

Hi, I was wondering if any SQL Server gurus out there could help me...I
have a table which contains text resources for my application. The text
resources are multi-lingual so I've read that if I add a html language
indicator meta tag e.g.<META NAME="MS.LOCALE" CONTENT="ES">and
store the text in a varbinary column with a supporting Document Type
column containing ".html" of varchar(5) then the full text index
service should be intelligent about the language word breakers it
applies when indexing the text. (I hope this is correct technique for
best multi-lingual support in a single table?)However, when I come to query this data the results always return 0 rows (no errors are encountered). e.g.DECLARE @SearchWord nvarchar(256)SET @SearchWord = 'search' -- Yes, this word is definitely present in my resources.SELECT * FROM Resource WHERE CONTAINS(Document, @SearchWord)I'm a little puzzled as Full Text search is working fine on another table that employs an nvarchar column (just plain text, no html).Does the filter used for full text indexing of html expect certain tags to be present as standard? E.g. <html> and <body> tags? At present the data I have stored might look like this (no html or body wrapping tags):Example record 1 data: <META NAME="MS.LOCALE" CONTENT="EN">Search for keywords:Example record 2 data: <META NAME="MS.LOCALE" CONTENT="EN">Sorry no results were found for your search.etc.Any pointers / suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Cheers,Gavin.UPDATE: I have tried wrapping the text in more usual html tags and re-built the full text index but I still never get any rows returned for my query results. Example of content wrapping tried - <HTML><HEAD><META NAME="MS.LOCALE" CONTENT="EN"></HEAD><BODY>Test text.</BODY></HTML>I've also tried stripping all html tags from the content and set the Document Type column = .txt but I still get no rows returned?!?

DECLARE @MissingTextData TABLE

RowID int

I would like to fill in the NULL columns with data from the other row, and then select the one row that is filled with all data. I was able to use MAX() for a numeric value, but I am really stumped on the text data. Everything that I have tried is not working.

In SQL 2005 if i was trying to insert some data with a text qualifier inside a text qualified field, it would work, for example:
"Name","ID ","Location","","Comany",""House Name" Road",
In SQL 2012, this fails with the error message, cannot find the text qualifer for field.
To get around this, we are having to import the data into a Dirty Data column of aTEMP table, ID, Dirty Data, Clean data - perform multiple updates and change the text qualifier and ensure they are only changed in the right places so we can keep the ". In this example, we changed the text qualifier to PIPES.
After these updates, we then export the data from CLEAN data back out to CSV, then reimport it into the origional destination table with a new text qualifer.

Full Text Searches are working on my test server, but not on my production server. My test scenario is as follows:
CREATE FULLTEXT CATALOG FTC_Test
AS DEFAULT
AUTHORIZATION dbo
CREATE FULLTEXT INDEX ON guest.FtsTest(FullName)
KEY INDEX PK_FtsTest ON FTC_TestI wait briefly and then check to see if the index has been populated:
SELECT * FROM sys.fulltext_indexescrawl_end_date is not null,
So I'm assuming I don't have to wait anymore before I try some FTS searches. Right? I can't get any queries to return anything, though.
The following tells me the full text item count for the table is zero:
DECLARE @TableId INT
SELECT @TableId = id FROM sys.sysobjects WHERE [Name] = 'FtsTest'
SELECT OBJECTPROPERTYEX(@TableId, 'TableFulltextItemCount') AS TableFulltextItemCount
As mentioned, the full text search works on my test server. Both of them are SQL 20012 SP1 (11.0.3000) x64 running on WinServer 2008 R2 SP1.

I am new to Full-Text Searches and FileTables. I am working on a resume search system. I created a FileTable and the Share which contains about 51,000 resumes in Word (DOC/DOCX), PDF and TXT formats that were copied over from our main file server. I followed the instructions on adding the Microsoft Filter Pack 2.0, and all searchable file types are listed in sys.fulltext.document_types.
I have a program that searches resumes by First and Last Name and/or E-mail Address. For a while, we thought it was working fine because we were getting hits, but then we noticed some Names and E-mail Addresses we new existed were not showing up in my CONTAINS queries -- but we verified the documents do exist and the Names exist in the File Name and inside the document along with the E-Mail address.
One example I'm working on now cannot find the First/Last Name with CONTAINS(name,"lastname") in a Word DOC file, but I can find the document using LEFT(name,5) = 'Smith'. It's a Word DOC file. For testing purposes, I opened the DOC file in Word, then used Save As to create a TXT and DOCX file within the same folder. Now, both of those are showing up in the CONTAINS but not the original DOC file.
