SQL Server 2012 :: Compare Two Different Columns Of 2 Different Rows In A Data Set?
Jan 29, 2014
Is there a efficient way to compare two different columns of 2 different rows in a data set as shown below.
For eg: I would like to DateDiff between Date2 of RowID 1 and Date1 of RowID 2 of IDNo 123. After this comparision , if datediff between two dates are <=14 then i want to update 1 else 0 in IsDateDiffLess14 of RowID1 . In below example its 0 because datediff of two dates >=14. So, want to compare the Date2 and Date1 in this sequence for the same IDNo. For RowID 6 there is only 1 row and no other row to compare, in this case IsDateDiffLess14 should be updated with 0.
What I need to be able to find is any records where the Discontinue_Date is greater than the Effective_Date on the next row for a given Customer ID and Part_ID. This is a customer pricing table so the Discontinue_Date of row 53 for example should never be greater than the Effective_Date of row 54130, these are the records I'm looking to find. So I'm looking for a SELECT query that would look for any records where this is true. Obviously the last Discontinue_Date row for a Customer_ID will not have a next row so I wouldn't want to return that.
I run the script below once a day to keep track of row count over time. I would like to compare the results from today and yesterday to see if anyone deleted more than 20% of data from any given table. How would I do this? I really don't need the data anymore than a day just to compare the results.
Mon - Run script to collect row count Tues - Run script to collect current row into temp table ,compare all row count in both tables ,purge records from Monday and insert current Wed - Run script to collect current row into temp table ,compare all row count in both tables
I am fairly new to SQL and writing queries so bear with my faults. I am learning on the job, which is good and bad. Below is a query that I have written to obtain some information. The problem arises when we have a patient who goes from Patient Type '1' to Patient Type '2'. This needs to be considered a singular visit and the only way I can think that this may work is if: for any specific medical record a dsch_ts is equal to the Admit TS on the next row.
How to complete something like this and my google searches have been fruitless. I attached a spreadsheet with an example of what I am getting.
SELECT DISTINCT TPM300_PAT_VISIT.med_rec_no, TSM040_PERSON_HDR.lst_nm AS 'Last Name', TSM040_PERSON_HDR.fst_nm AS 'First Name',
I have one database with several tables in it (table 1, table2, table3). In each table is two colums (colum1 = a number (201220) and colum2 = a number (0.50). Now, both tables will have rows with the same data in colum 1, but colum two will have different numbers (different prices). My goal is to run a query that will compare both colums in all three tables, take the lower of the three based on colum 2 and spit out the row. Obviously, this would output all rows (around 175k). The point is to create a least cost spreadsheet (csv) file based on evaluating all three tables.
I have 5 columns in my database. 1 column is coming like a dynamic.
I want to convert records from rows to columns. Currently I have a data like this.
Race AgeRange Amount
W 17-20 500 W 21-30 400 W 31-40 200 A 17-20 100 H 41-50 250 H 51-60 290
So age range is not fixed and it can be any and I have one separate relational table for age range where it's coming from. Now I want to convert it into columns like
I currently have data stored in a temporary table and I would like to transpose the data into a better format. I would like for the query to be dynamic since one of the tables currently has over 500 columns.
The attached file provides an example of the table structure along with sample data. Below the first set of data is the desired final format.
I am in process to develop TSql code to identify change in data.
I read about Binary_checksum and hashbyte. Some people say hashbyte is better than binay_checksum as chances of collision are less.
But if we may consider following, chances exist in hashbyte too. My question is what is the best way to compare data to identify change (I can't configure CDC) ?
I am working on a sql data that has a list of product names, shipment type and the count of shipments. The values are listed as rows in the database. it will be in the below format.I want to transpose only the shipment type and the corresponding count of each product name in the below format.I tried to do this but i am not able to achieve in the correct format.
SELECT TOP (100) PERCENT dbo.Filteredfs_franchise.fs_franchiseid AS FranchiseId, dbo.Filteredfs_franchise.fs_brandidname AS Brand, dbo.Filteredfs_franchise.fs_franchisetypename AS [Franchise Type], dbo.Filteredfs_franchise.fs_franchisenumber AS [Franchise Number], dbo.Filteredfs_franchise.fs_transactiontypename AS [Transaction Type], dbo.Filteredfs_franchise.fs_franchisestatusname AS [Status Code],
[Code] ....
I need to pivot this so I can get one row per franchiseID and multiple columns for [Franchisee Name Entity] and [Franchise Name Individual]. Each [Franchisee Name Entity] and [Franchise Name Individual] has associated percentage of ownership.
This has to be dynamic, because each FranchiseID can have anywhere from 1 to 12 respective owners and those can be any combination of of Entity and Individual. Please, see the attached example for Franchise Number 129 (that one would have 6 additional columns because there are 3 Individual owners with 1 respective Percentage of ownership).
The question is how do I PIVOT and preserve the percentage of ownership?
I am trying to create a calendar style report that will have 12 months (as columns) and store opening listing in rows. I have created a matrix, but the problem that I have is that the store opening listing displays in the right period, but they are not in any order. I would like to have the openings always on top, right under the header in the matrix. Now I have them scattered randomly all over the matrix. I tried numerous way of sorting and that does not work.
I am attaching a sample of what I would like to accomplish (months are columns).
Our business get orders through the week with the weekends (Fri & Sat) orders being higher than weekdays. Im wanting to graph this years data with last years and possible the years before but to compare days in such a way that the all the weekdays line up. so comparing 2015 week 1 with 2014 week 1 but with 03/01/2015 (Sat) lining up with 04/01/2014 (Sat) etc.
I'm looking for alternatives to adding or removing days from the dates to solve this issue, i have a date dimension table for the past 5 years that i can use to compare calendar week 201401 with calendar week 201501 but I am finding it a bit inflexable.
I run the following statement and it will not update beyond 7 million plus rows and I have about 38 million to complete. I keep checking updated row counts and after 1/2 day it's still the same so I know something is wrong because it was rolling through no problem when I initiated it. I need to complete ASAP so it's adding to my frustration. The 'Acct_Num_CH' field is an encrypted field (fyi).
SET rowcount 10000 UPDATE [dbo].[CC_Info_T] SET [Acct_Num_CH] = 'ayIWt6C8sgimC6t61EJ9d8BB3+bfIZ8v' WHERE [Acct_Num_CH] IS NOT NULL WHILE @@ROWCOUNT > 0 BEGIN SET rowcount 10000 UPDATE [dbo].[CC_Info_T] SET [Acct_Num_CH] = 'ayIWt6C8sgimC6t61EJ9d8BB3+bfIZ8v' WHERE [Acct_Num_CH] IS NOT NULL END SET rowcount 0
Trying to get the PSI Outcome, Expected, and PSIIndex every month whether it has data or not. Created a CTE and left outer joined with PSI table, but it's still not pulling every month for every PSIKey.
What I need is split the data into two columns if data in column Main starts with 'PR-' then output result to column P and if it starts with 'CC-' then to column C (the output needs to be in one table).
Hello, I have a survey (30 questions) application in a SQL server db. The application uses several relational tables. The results are arranged so that each answer is on a seperate row: user1 answer1user1 answer2user1 answer3user2 answer1user2 answer2user2 answer3 For statistical analysis I need to transfer the results to an Excel spreadsheet (for later use in SPSS). In the spreadsheet I need the results to appear so that each user will be on a single row with all of that user's answers on that single row (A column for each answer): user1 answer1 answer2 answer3user2 answer1 answer2 answer3 How can this be done? How can all answers of a user appear on a single row Thanx,Danny.
I concatenate multiple rows from one table in multiple columns like this:
--Create Table CREATE TABLE [Person].[Person_1]( [BusinessEntityID] [int] NOT NULL, [PersonType] [nchar](2) NOT NULL, [FirstName] [varchar](100) NOT NULL, CONSTRAINT [PK_Person_BusinessEntityID_1] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED
[Code] ....
This works very well, but I want to concatenate more rows with different [PersonType]-Values in different columns and I don't like the overhead, of using the same table in every subquery ([Person_1]). Is there a more elegant way to do this, without using a temp table or something else?
create table #myfirst (id int, city varchar(20)) insert into #myfirst values (500,'Newyork') insert into #myfirst values (100,'Ediosn') insert into #myfirst values (200,'Atlanta') insert into #myfirst values (300,'Greenwoods') insert into #myfirst values (400,'Hitchcok') insert into #myfirst values (700,'Walmart') insert into #myfirst values (800,'Madida')
-- My Second Data
create table #mySecond (id int, city varchar(20),Sector varchar(2)) insert into #mySecond values (1500,'Newyork','MK') insert into #mySecond values (5500,'Ediosn','HH') insert into #mySecond values (5060,'The Atlanta','JK') insert into #mySecond values (7500,'The Greenwoods','DF') insert into #mySecond values (9500,'Metro','KK') insert into #mySecond values (3300,'Kilapr','MK') insert into #mySecond values (9500,'Metro','NH')
--Third Second Data
create table #myThird (id int, city varchar(20),Sector varchar(2)) insert into #myThird values (33,'Walmart','PP') insert into #myThird values (20,'Ediosn','DD') select f.*,s.Sector from #myfirst f join #mySecond s on f.city = s.city /* idcitySector 500NewyorkMK 100EdiosnHH */
i have doubt on two things
1) How Can i compare the City names, by eliminating 'The ' at the beginning (if there is any in second tale city) between first and second
2) after comparing first and second if there is no match found in second them want to compare with third table values for those not found
--i tried below to solve first doubt, it is working but want to know any other wasys to do it
select f.*,s.Sector from #myfirst f join #mySecond s on replace (f.city, 'THE ','')= replace (s.city, 'THE ','')
--Expected results wull be
create table #ExpectResults (id int, city varchar(20),Sector varchar(2)) insert into #ExpectResults values (200,'Atlanta','JK') insert into #ExpectResults values (100,'Ediosn','HH') insert into #ExpectResults values (300,'Greenwoods','DF') insert into #ExpectResults values (500,'Newyork','MK') insert into #ExpectResults values (700, 'Walmart','PP') insert into #ExpectResults values (800, 'Madidar','')
I have a single table that consist of 4 columns. Entity, ParamName, ParamsValue and ParamiValue. This table stores normalized Late Fee related parameters for apartments. The Entity field contains a code that identifies the apartment complex. The ParamName in a textual field that contains the name of the parameter that the other 2 fields define the value for; ParamsValue and ParamiValue. If the Late Fee parameter (as named in ParamName is something numerical then the value for that parameter can be found in ParamiValue else its in ParamsValue.
I don't know if 'Pivot' is the correct term to use for describing what I am trying to do because I've looked at the Pivot examples and I don't see how that will work for this. Using the Table and data as provided below, how would I construct a query so that I get 1 row per Entity in which the columns are the ParamsValue or ParamiValue for the ParamName listed in the column header (for the query)?
Below is the DDL to create the table and populate it.
USE [DBA_UTIL] CREATE TABLE [dbo].[PARAMEXAMPLE]( [Entity] [varchar](16) NULL,
write a query which retrieves only unique rows excluding some columns.
IdStatusmanager Team Comments Proj number Date 19391New XUnassigned One 3732.0 16-Apr-14 19392Can YCustomer Two 3732.0 17-Apr-14 19393Can YCustomer Two 3732.0 17-Apr-14 19394Can YCustomer One 3732.0 18-Apr-14 19395New YCustomer One 3732.0 19-Apr-14 19396New YCustomer One 3732.0 21-Apr-14 19397New ZCustomer One 3732.0 20-Apr-14
In the above table project number and id shouldn't be considered and I should get the unique rows considering rest of columns and sorted based on date. Expected result is
IdStatusmanager Team Comments Proj number Date 19391New XUnassigned One 3732.0 16-Apr-14 19392Can YCustomer Two 3732.0 17-Apr-14 19394Can YCustomer One 3732.0 18-Apr-14 19395New YCustomer One 3732.0 19-Apr-14 19397New ZCustomer One 3732.0 20-Apr-14 19396New YCustomer One 3732.0 21-Apr-14
If F.parent_id(101)=T.team_id(101) and T.team_id(101)=T.parent_folder_id (101) then output should come as 'Mobile/c' (this is for f.parent_id=101)
If F.Parent_id=T.team_id and T.team_id!=T.parent_folder_id then parent_folder_id have to start search on team_id column where it got match and pick the Team_name from that corresponding id
Ex: F.parent_id=202 is matching with T.Team_id (202) but this T.team_id(202) is not matching with T.parent_folderid(200) , so this T.parent_folderid (200) have to search on T.id (200) ,if now T.id(200) is matching with T.Parent_folder_id(200) then it have to give the names from the starting hirache
I have created some dynamic sql to check a temporary table that is created on the fly for any columns that do contain data. If they do the column name is added to a dynamic sql, if not they are excluded. This looks like:
If (select sum(Case when [Sat] is null then 0 else 1 end) from #TABLE) >= 1 begin set @OIL_BULK = @OIL_BULK + '[Sat]' +',' END However, I am currently running this on over 230 columns and large tables 1.3 mil rows and it is quite slow. How I can dynamically create a sql script that only selects the columns in the table where there is data in a speedier manner. Unfortunately it has to be on the fly because the temporary table is created on the fly.
