SQL Server 2014 :: Find Double Records Within DateTime Range
Apr 13, 2015
I have a query question.
Consider a table with the following structure:
RecordID (PK - int) - RecordDate (DateTime)
I need to find all records that fall within a 7 day period slot based on the first RecordDate of a specific slot.
Example, consider the following records:
RecordID - RecordDate
1 - 2015-04-01 14:00
2 - 2015-04-03 15:00
3 - 2015-04-03 16:05
4 - 2015-04-03 19:23
5 - 2015-04-06 09:15
6 - 2015-04-06 11:30
7 - 2015-04-07 12:00
8 - 2015-04-09 15:15
The result of the query I'd like should look something like this
1
2
5
7
8
So basically I'd like to leave record 3 and 4 out because they fall within 24 hours of record 2 and I'd like to leave record 6 out because it falls within 24 hours of record 5.I'd tried working with a CTE and set a dateadd(d, 1, recorddate), join it on itself and use a between From / To filter on the join but that didn't work. I don't think NTILE will work with this?

I was just doing a table import task (right click database name/Tasks/Import Data), not knowing my boss had just loaded the same file. it did not warn me that the table currently existed. It just appended the same information to the same table, doubling it. I fixed that one, but, it seems that I might have done this myself in the last couple of weeks, and I'd like to find that table, and there have been a LOT of table loads.
I'm thinking I could get the difference between tables by comparing:
select distinct count(*) from tblname
against
select count(*) from tblname
But how do I incorporate this into some sort of proc that will go through all the tables and let me know where the issue is? I'm swamped and don't have the time to go through each table manually.
I have code that shows me row counts, and have been able to eliminate a few tables from contention, as they are loading monthly data that should only increase minorly month to month, so, no double jumps there.

When I run this query:
SELECT orderno, *
FROM _order
WHERE order_date >= '5/14/2015 00:00:00'
AND order_date < '5/15/2015 11:59:59'
ORDER BY order_date asc
I get a result of:
A1G7222015-05-14 13:00:11.143
A1G7232015-05-14 13:33:35.407
A1G7242015-05-14 13:39:16.657
A1G7252015-05-14 14:25:43.507
A1G7262015-05-14 14:29:18.050
A1G7272015-05-14 15:38:12.263
But I know there is one more record that falls into 05/15/2015
A1G7282015-05-15 12:26:52.807
Can you see what I am missing in my query in order for me to retrieve the missing record A1G728?

Hi,
I have a column of type datetime in sqlserver 2000. Whenever I try to insert the date
'31/08/2006 23:28:59'
I get the error "...datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime value"
I've looked everywhere and I can't solve the problem. Please note, I first got this error from an asp.net page and in order to ensure that it wasn't some problem with culture settings I decided to run the query straight in Sql Query Anaylser. The results were the same. What else could it be?
cheers,
Ernest

I am performing a series of calculations where accuracy is very important, so have a quick question about single vs double precision variables in SQL 2008.
I'm assuming that there is an easy way to cast a variable that is currently stored as a FLOAT as a DOUBLE prior to these calculations for reduced rounding errors, but I can't seem to find it.
I've tried CAST and CONVERT, but get errors when I try to convert to DOUBLE.
For example...
SELECT CAST(1.0/7.0 AS FLOAT)
SELECT CONVERT(FLOAT, 1.0/7.0)
both give the same 6 decimal place approximation, and the 6 decimals make me think this is single precision.
But I get errors if I try to change the word FLOAT to DOUBLE in either one of those commands...
SELECT CAST(1.0/7.0 AS DOUBLE)
gives "Incorrect syntax near )"
SELECT CONVERT(DOUBLE, 1.0/7.0)
gives "Incorrect syntax near ,"

Hi all,I am using the following stored procedure in SQL 7 to return a range of records.CREATE PROCEDURE spRetMyTable@maxRows int, @lastRecord int, @SortPhrase varchar(122)ASbeginDECLARE @stSql VARCHAR(255) SET ROWCOUNT @maxRowsSET @stSql = 'SELECT * FROM (SELECT TOP 10 colPrimary, col1, col2, col3 FROM (SELECT TOP ' + CONVERT(VARCHAR, @lastRecord) + 'colPrimary, col1, col2, col3 FROM [MyTable] ORDER BY [colPrimary] ASC) AS tbl1 ORDER BY [colPrimary] DESC) AS tbl2 ORDER by [colPrimary] ASC'exec(@stSql)set rowcount 0endTo execute the above procedure I am issuing the command:execute spRetMyTable @maxRows 10, @lastRecord 1500The column [colPrimary] is the primary field in the table.I will be using the selected records in a gridView with paging (3 records per page). So if the next page is selected I would require to take out record 1491 to record 1494 and Add record 1501 to record 1503 in the datatable subject to the availability of records in the table MyTable. How do I provide sorting by col1, col2 or col3? It could be single column or multiple column sorting as chosen by the user during runtime. Is there any performance overhead in the above method in the first place?Could it be improved by any alternative process?I need YOUR ASSISTANCE to cater to the above issues in a feasible way. Thanks in advance.

Any tool, script, procedure, or otherwise that will solve this problem?
CREATE TABLE [Table 1] (
Id varchar,
TableTwoId varchar,
OtherData varchar )
CREATE TABLE [Table 2] (
Id varchar,
MoreData varchar )
What is the link between these two tables?
I have databases that have zero keys defined, no foreign key constraints, no unique value constraints. I cannot assume that an Identity column is the Id. The end game is be able to output that [Table 1].[TableTwoId] = [Table 2].[Id] but cannot assume that all linkage in the database will be as simple as saying "if the field name contains a table name + Id then it is the Id in that table."
Currently have written a script that will cycle through all columns and start identifying keys in singular tables based on the distinctness of the values in each column (i.e. Column1 is 99% distinct so is the unique value). It will also combine columns if the linkage is the combination of one or more columns from Table 1 = the same number of columns in Table 2. This takes a long time, and it somewhat unreliable as IDENTITY columns may seem to relate to one another when they don't.
