SQL Server 2014 :: Programmatic Creation Or Modification Of SSIS

May 21, 2015

I'm trying to create an SSIS package that will do a straight data copy between databases. The problem is that the underlying schema of the origin may change and the requirement is that the transfer be table driven. i.e. the tables that are copied are listed in a table and there should be no human intervention when the schema changes.

I'm moving data between SQL Server and SQL Azure, so backup and restore doesn't work. Has to be an SSIS package.

What's the best way to deal with a changing schema in an SSIS package? Can I delete and rewrite the underlying XML for any tables that change? Do I need to do it programmatically with C#? Do I need to create the package from scratch each time?

SQL Server 2014 :: Modification Of SSIS Package With AlwaysOn Availability Replica?

Dec 1, 2014

We are currently using 2008 environment. We do have an SSIS Package running. The package used to run everyday and take the production server full backups and restore into the another server. Then do some delete commands and do some updates in that database on that server (We have some sensitive data other than Production we have to run that scripts in any environment). After run all those delete statements another team will read the data from that database.

We are planning to migrate to 2014 and set up always on and use the replica as the source. In this case how the package will work?

How to change that SSIS package. With the 2014 always on we are directly reading the data there is no backups to restore then how to run the delete statements?

Automatic Creation And Modification Log

Jul 20, 2005

Hi there,I need some help in order to reduce the amount of code needed toimplement the logging of INSERT and UPDATE in my application'sdatabase. In every table of my database I have four fields (CreatedBy,CreatedTime, ModifiedBy, ModificatedTime), these fields allow me totrace the users who create and modify the registers in my application.I know that I can add in every stored procedure a piece of code whouses the app user as a parameter, and insert these information in theregister. But I would like to go beyond these method. I imagine thereis a better way of doing it, and I don't like to use triggers. Isthere any method, within the SQLServer functionality, that allows meto automate this process? So, any help would be very appreciated!!Thank you very much in advance!

It was expected as in other editions also. Issue is that when we try to crate "SQLServer Performance Condition alert", object names in "Object" list comes without the prefix "SQLServer:" (e.g. Databases). Please see the attached snapshots.

SQL Server Admin 2014 :: SSIS Job Fails For No Reason

Aug 11, 2015

I have a job that runs an SSIS package. The job seems to be able to run through the package successfully, but at the end it errors out saying "The binary code for the script is not found. ...". The script referred to is at the beginning part (not the very first step) and should already be run.

The thing is, I can manually run this package on the server or visual studio without any problem. Also this job has been run on a regular basis without any issues on our old SQL 2008. I'm migrating this to Amazon Cloud SQL 2014.

Together with this package are other two very similar ones. They all work fine. I just can't figure out what can be wrong with this one.

SQL Server 2014 :: SSIS Package Cancels Itself After Successful Validation

Dec 15, 2014

I have an SSIS package authored in SSDT for VS 2013 that cancels itself immediately after validation completes and execution commences. This behavior occurs when executed either in VS 2013 or from within SQL Server. No error messages are thrown in either the debug window or the log output (log is capturing everything). The only thing that occurs differently on this package as compared to another package I am able to execute successfully is that a command line window briefly flashes when the package cancels itself—but it is gone so fast I cannot read it. The last several lines of the debug output are as follows:

-----------------
Information: 0x40043006 at Merge Info, SSIS.Pipeline: Prepare for Execute phase is beginning.
Information: 0x40043007 at Merge Info, SSIS.Pipeline: Pre-Execute phase is beginning.
Information: 0x402090DC at Merge Info, All Users CSV [2]: The processing of file "C:...AllUsers.csv" has started.
Information: 0x400490F4 at Merge Info, Lookup Org [47]: Lookup Org has cached 957 rows.
Information: 0x400490F5 at Merge Info, Lookup Org [47]: Lookup Org has cached a total of 26719 rows.

[Code] ....

What circumstances an SSIS package would cancel itself without throwing any errors?

SSIS Package Creation

Jul 25, 2007

I am relatively new to this. I am trying to create a SSIS package that loops through several SQL tables. The first table is results_C01 and the last table is results_C18. They are in the same database. The number of tables will be increasing over time. I would like to perform a series of the same SQL tasks on these tables. My thought was to utilize a For Loop and imbed the SQL tasks within the For Loop. The SQL task would utilize a variable for the table name that would increment from results_C01 to results_C18 as it cycled through the For Loop.

I am able to create a For Loop with a variable, but I am not able to get the variable from the For Loop to equal and increment from results_C01 to results_C18. Secondly, I am not able to create an SQL task that utilizes a variable for a table name. I am really stuck.

SSIS Package Creation Help

Mar 20, 2007

hello,

I'm new to this SSIS package creation thing and I'm a little stuck. I have to create a SSIS project and create packages that drop - create a database, then create either 1 or 3 different packages that use a config file for input on dates to run and return data. My question is:

1) how can I get a package to read a config file?

2) do i need to create 3 seperate configs files for each different packages?

3) How can I pass in parameters to the config file or allow the config file allow for parameters to be passed in? meaning: I need to allow my config files run between dates I entered in.

I'm totally new to this SSIS thing, I'm a .NET developer and never done this stuff before in my life so I'm not really sure how to do most of this stuff within the VS 05 IDE for the SSIS package creations.

SQL Server Admin 2014 :: Allowing Users To Run SSIS Packages Remotely

Mar 12, 2015

I am quite new to SSIS but managed to build a package which imports text files in to SQL. The text files are generated after users complete a manufacturing process on a machine.

The SSIS package is stored in the SSIS catalog and currently a SQL Agent tasks runs every evening to import new files that have been created during the day. Users have now requested the ability to run the import process as soon as they have finished their manufacturing runs as they may want to query the data to looks up stats etc.

What is the best way to do this considering all of the users are not SQL guys and wont have direct logins into the SQL Server or access to SQL Server Management studio. They will have access to the PC where the files are generated, so I ideally I need a batch file which they can just execute to import their new files.

I have seen lots of things on the web about running dtsexec but as the package is stored in the SSIS Catalog, how can I execute this remotely?

SQL Server 2014 :: SSIS Packages Are Reporting Complete Before Finished Loading

Apr 26, 2015

We've recently upgraded to SQL Server 2014, and are now using SSIS integrated with Visual Studio. We have a SSIS project which contains about 20 packages which are nested in Sequence Containers and executed concurrently. These packages have been set up as project references.

The problem is that when I press the start button to run the packages, they all light up green reporting completion before the data has finished loading into the SQL database. If I press the stop button without waiting a sufficient length of time, then not all of the data gets loaded. i.e. a certain number of rows will be missing from some of the SQL tables.

If I click through to the individual package items and check the data flow progress while running, some of the data flows appear to hang at a certain number of rows without ever reaching completion. The number of rows indicated in the data flow is incorrect - i.e. it will count up to ~150,000 and stay there indefinitely in the running state, when in actual fact there are ~500,000 rows to load.

To clarify, the main package will show all items green and display the "Finished: Success" message in the log window, however when I drill through to certain packages in the set, they'll be stuck in the yellow running state, with no way of knowing whether they've actually completed or not.

My current workaround is to just wait a certain length of time before pressing the stop button. This bug doesn't seem to inhibit rows being loaded - it just incorrectly identifies the point when the load finishes, causing people to terminate the load prematurely.

This issue only occurs if I run the project from the main package container. If I execute the child packages individually, they correctly report the number of rows being loaded and light up green once complete.

Programmatic Insert Into SQL Database

Nov 1, 2007

I have a page with over 20 Textbox and DDL controls and an upload  in various Divs and Panels (Ajax enabled) that are used for gathering user data. Some of the fields are mandatory and some optional.
In the Code behind (VB- I am a complete novice) On the submit button click event,  I iterate through the controls in the page and build an array with information from the controls that have data in them, (filtering out the non-filled textboxes, and DDLs).
All this works well, and I get an array called 'myInfo' with the columns with the control ID, and  control values 'rvalue' (as string), with the number of rows equal to the filled textboxes and DDLs.
I then step through the array and build a string with 'name=values' of all the rows in the myinfo array and email this as a message:
        ThisMessage = ""        NoOfControls = myInfo.GetLength(0)        For i = 0 To NoOfControls - 1                            ThisMessage = ThisMessage & myInfo(i).ID.ToString & "=" & myInfo(i).rvalue.ToString & "; "        Next
SendMail(email address, ThisMessage)
I also want to add this information to a database, appended by the IP address and datetime.now.
        Dim evdoDataSource As New SqlDataSource()        evdoDataSource.ConnectionString = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("SQLConnectionStringCK").ToString        evdoDataSource.InsertCommandType = SqlDataSourceCommandType.Text
Dim InsertMessage As String = """INSERT INTO evdoData ("        NoOfControls = myInfo.GetLength(0)
        Dim k As Integer        For k = 0 To NoOfControls - 1                   InsertMessage = InsertMessage & myInfo(k).ID.ToString & ", "        Next
InsertMessage = InsertMessage & "IPNo, DateEntered) VALUES ("
        For k = 0 To NoOfControls - 1                        InsertMessage = InsertMessage & "@" & myInfo(k).ID.ToString & ", "         Next        InsertMessage = InsertMessage & ", @IPNo, @DateEntered" & ")"""               evdoDataSource.InsertCommand = InsertMessage
I then similarly iterate through and do the insertparameters.
Now here is the rub- (My all too often DUH moment!)
When I look at the insertmessage in debug (and to be sure- I also show the insert string on a temporary debug label on the page), The insertmessage looks fine:
"INSERT INTO EvdData (FirstName, Age, Email, Phone, Country, City, IPNo, DateEntered) VALUES (@FirstName, @Age, @Email, @Phone, @Country, @City, , @IPNo, @DateEntered)"
However when the above code(evdoDataSource.InsertCommand = InsertMessage) is run, I get an error - the message with the error is:
The identifier that starts with 'INSERT INTO ModelData (FirstName, Age, Email, Phone, Country, City, IPNo, DateEntered) VALUES (@FirsteName, @Age, @Email, @Phone,' is too long. Maximum length is 128
EH?  When I actually copy the InsertMessage from the debug window and paste it manually after the command "evdoDataSource.InsertCommand = " It works, and I get the data inserted into the table..
-It would seem that I am probably missing something obvious in my complete "noviceness" . HELP! (oh and thanks a bunch in anticipation)

Programmatic Inspection Of A Dump?

May 21, 2004

I need to set up a job to allow users to restore their databases, on SQL Server 2000 SP3. The idea is that a user inserts a record into a table, identifying the dump they want to load. (They can only restore their own account.) A job picks up this record, restores the database, and notifies the user as appropriate.

My part of this is writing the procedure that the job executes, including the dump restore. Part of that is getting each dump's file groups (data, index, and log) into the proper locations for this server and this user.

Essentially, I need to be able to access the results of 'load filelistonly' from a cursor. How do I access the file list?
