So am writing a Stored Proc to get all the table values like above ., but i need to write Stored Proc in such a way it returns the above table like result along with subtotal when ever vendor code changed. as below
as per my client requirement we need subtotal of 'Amount' group by 'OrderNo'. column so am writing a select statement with WHERE condition and I would like to have another column called SUBTOTAL in the result set (select statement result) with subtotals for that order Number as below
I am receving this error: Failed to open the connection: [Database Vendor Code: 17 ], from .Net 2003/C# to Crystal Report XI with SQL Server 2000 has backend database.
Is there a security permission that has been overlooked?
//Get Table inf from report DB = reportDocument..Database; tables = DB.Tables;
//Looping through all the tables in CR and apply connection info for(int i = 0; i < tables.Count; i++) { table = tables[ i ]; tableLogOnInfo = table.LogOnInfo; tableLogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo = connectionInfo; table.ApplyLogOnInfo(tableLogOnInfo);
I found an article on the CodeProject website named T-SQL MapReduce. I'm trying to duplicate the SQL code there into a SQL Server 2914 Developer Edition database I've got, and also the C# code using Visual Studio. I've defined the user data types fine (e.g.: word_t, words_t and so on), but I got an error when I tried to create the UDF dbo.mapper from the page. The error I got was:
Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Procedure mapper, Line 5
Incorrect syntax near 'CALLER'.
The SQL code I used is straight off of the page; it looks like this:
[code=sql] create function dbo.mapper(@documents DocumentsWithAutoIncrementIndexTable READONLY, @sep nvarchar) returns @t TABLE ( wordindex int, word word_t ) WITH EXECUTE AS CALLER [/code]
What have I done wrong? I'm guessing that the author has done something like left off a variable declaration or something like that. what am I missing?
I have a comma separated field containing numerous 2 digit numbers that I would like splitting out by a corresponding unique code held in another field on the same row.
E.g
Unique Code Comma Separated Field
14587934 1,5,17,18,19,40,51,62,70
6998468 10,45,62,18,19
79585264 1,5,18
These needs to be in column format or held in an array to be used as conditional criteria.
My report has two groups, company and error type for each company. Company1
Functional Error Data Error Other Error My goal is to show the subtotals for each error types when I show Company's subtotal/total; in the group 1 footer area. Total for Functional Error: Total for Data Error: Total for Company1:
Will be meeting with a Vendor tomorrrow ... I am installing a new 64 bit 2005 Enterprise Instance for their product but they havent' given any documentation yet.. this is what I've come up with so far...
Does the Application need a Named Instance or will a Default Instance suffice? (if Named, is there a preferred name?) Type of account needed to connect to the Database from the Application? (SQL or NT Authenticated) Type of Permissions needed to the Database with the connect account? Preferred Recovery Model? Standard for most of ourSQL Server Databases is Full Recovery with Daily Full Backups and Frequent TLOG backups Are users authenticated at the Application or will each user need SQL Server credentials? Approximate size of the Database(s)
A lot of our data is in a database originally provided to us bya vendor. We can add tables to the database (although we prefixthem with our own company name), and stored procedures and ourown triggers, as well. However, we have been hesitant tochange the vendor's tables (despite serious flaws), as ourchanges may get lost whenever we put in a new version of theirsoftware.I would like to be able to run a script that will check thedatabase for each of our changes, and put the change back inif it was missing. These are the main things I'd like tocheck:Foreign keys are present.Check constraints are present.Specific triggers are absent (The vendor has a bad habitof implementing foreign keys and simple checks intriggers. The foreign key checks cause us a lot oflocking trouble). If present, and not the same as theone that was originally removed, report it instead ofremoving it.Calculated fields are present.Indexes are present. (especially if we can check what isindexed, and what index is clustered)Any tips? Books to read? Software to buy?Thanks,Bill
Some of my customers ask for backup their databases, mainly MSSQL & MS Exchange. I search for any of backup vendor; there are 2 choices, service provider and software publisher. Service provider eliminates my technical support on backing up my clients databases:cool: ; software publisher offer a chance for me to create new business line:rolleyes: . What would your gurus prefer and why? Any admirable company you can name?
I need to create a database for another department Access xp will of course be the Gui and SQL server 2000 as the Engine. Its a Vendors database one table should show the Vendors Information the name of the company vendorID, etc. The other table will show the Vendor Dues this table will consist of VendorId the duesID (need a unique number for it though this table will need to be updated also) the check#, the creditamount, debitamount,code, and date paid. Was thinking of making a one to many relationship there. But I would like to get the experts opinion. Both tables will need to be updated
I am using INSERT into Vendors (.....) VALUES (....) form of insert statement. How can I make sure that the insert fails if thie new vendor's vendorname exists? I cannot create a unique index on 'VendorName' column since it is more than 900 bytes and SQL Server will not allow to create index on a column bigger than 900 bytes.
I have a requirement where I need to pass some parameters using URL and that URL generate CSV file which I need to save to a shared drive.Here is sample URL....where practice, start and end are parameters.I need to automate the process and trigger ULR passing those parameters every month so that CVS file is saved automatically to a shared driver. How can I create SSIS package to that?
We have a flat file format generated from a vendor. It contains a "mainframe" view of the data with a header record, batch header record, detailed records, batch trailer record and trailer record. It arrives as a .dat file. What is the best approach to extract the necessary columns out of this file to populate the corresponding SQL server tables and rows?
Use the Northwind database Products table as an example.Purchasing dept gets a report showing when inventory items on hand qty arebelow the reorder level.easy enough:Select ProductID, ProductName, SupplierID, UnitsInStock, ReorderLevelfrom Productswhere (UnitsInStock < ReorderLevel)Results:ProductID ProductName SupplierID UnitsInStock ReorderLevel2 Chang 1 17253 Aniseed Syrup 1 1325It would be nice to know what other products are purchased from this samevendor in case other items are close to their reorder level.All products for Supplier ID 1Select ProductID, ProductName, SupplierID, UnitsInStock, ReorderLevelfrom Productswhere SupplierID = 1Results:ProductID ProductName SupplierID UnitsInStock ReorderLevel1 Chai 1 39102 Chang 1 17253 Aniseed Syrup 1 1325This shows there is 1 more product (Chai) that also comes from Supplier 1.Is there a way to show all items from a vendor when some of the items arebelow the reorder level without needing a separate query for each vendor?Thanks
I have a table that have the following fields: Outlet,EmployeeNumber,WorkingDate,WorkingHour,Ince ntive
when I put it into a matrix report, the Outlet is assiged to Page, the EmployeeNumber is assgined to ROW, the WorkingDate is assigned to Column and both WorkingHour & Incentive is assigned to Data(display in row but not column). There is a subtotal at the extreme right side.
May I know how can I squeeze in another element display at the report showing sum of Incentive / sum of WorkingHour? This new element shall be placed at each row as it's indicating the average incentive of each employee.
in few words i need subtotal only for who have children.I tried with rollup but i wasn't able to have it similar to the aspected.I put it the level just to let clearer the dependencies.
Hi all--I'm trying to convert a function which I inherited from a SQL Server 2000 DTS package to something usable in an SSIS package in SQL Server 2005. Given the original code here: Function Main() on error resume next dim cn, i, rs, sSQL Set cn = CreateObject("ADODB.Connection") cn.Open "Provider=sqloledb;Server=<server_name>;Database=<db_name>;User ID=<sysadmin_user>;Password=<password>" set rs = CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset") set rs = DTSGlobalVariables("SQLstring").value
for i = 1 to rs.RecordCount sSQL = rs.Fields(0).value cn.Execute sSQL, , 128 'adExecuteNoRecords option for faster execution rs.MoveNext Next
Main = DTSTaskExecResult_Success
End Function
This code was originally programmed in the SQL Server ActiveX Task type in a DTS package designed to take an open-ended number of SQL statements generated by another task as input, then execute each SQL statement sequentially. Upon this code's success, move on to the next step. (Of course, there was no additional documentation with this code. :-)
Based on other postings, I attempted to push this code into a Visual Studio BI 2005 Script Task with the following change:
public Sub Main()
...
Dts.TaskResult = Dts.Results.Success
End Class
I get the following error when I attempt to compile this:
Error 30209: Option Strict On requires all variable declarations to have an 'As' clause.
I am new to Visual Basic, so I'm on a learning curve here. From what I know of this script: - The variables here violate the new Option Strict On requirement in VS 2005 to declare what type of object your variable is supposed to use.
- I need to explicitly declare each object, unless I turn off the Option Strict On (which didn't seem recommended, based on what I read).
Given this statement:
dim cn, i, rs, sSQL
I'm looking at "i" as type Integer; rs and sSQL are open-ended arrays, but can't quite figure out how to read the code here:
This code seems to create an instance of a COM component, then pass provider information and create the recordset being passed in by the previous task, but am not sure whether this syntax is correct for VS 2005 or what data type declaration to make here. Any ideas/help on how to rewrite this code would be greatly appreciated!
we are having the same code base in both the environment but we have different version of SQL Server Version(Env 1 - SQL 2012, Env 2 - SQL 2008). We are getting the expected result in Env - 1 but not in the ENV -2. So we tried to get the SQL trace for the web request we found that Date format getting changed.
2012 - Date Format in the SQL Trace for the request '2015-09-10 00:00:00' which is working as expected. 2008 - Date Format in the SQL Trace for the request 'Sep 10 2015 12:00:00:000AM' which is Not working.
Complete SQL Trace for Request. Evn - 1 - SQL Server 2012 exec dbo.usp_GetWorkQueue @ClientName='CLT',@HasFilter=1,@FacilityName='',@StartDate='2015-09-10 00:00:00',@EndDate='2015-09-18 00:00:00',@OrderDirection='D',@StartIndex=1,@PageSize=20
I am using sql server 2005 express. When I created a new database my schema name was dbo and my stored procedures looks like this: dbo.sp_name Now when I am creating new sp:s my schema name has change to DOMAINUsername: DOMAINUsername.sp_name My webb application cant find any sp:s with this schema name and I don't now how to change schema name back to dbo. What has happened, what is this schema name and why has my schema name been changed!? Please help me out!
I had two Window NT 4.0 Server, say A and B... We recently upgraded from MS SQL Server 6.5 to MS SQL Server 2000 on Computer A, and for Computer B, I installed SQL Server 2000 from scratch. These two have a same RAM(512MB) and CPU speed...so the setup for hardware is almost identical...
For server A, there are around 10 connection to this SQL Server... For server B, there are also around 10 connection to this SQL Server...
The database for SQL Server B is a copy from SQL Server A.... I restored the database on SQL Server B from the backup dump of Server A...
We have a store procedure called usp_GetMemo(ID Interger) ... we feed ID number to this store procedure and return its return Description... this table has ID column and it's Non-Cluster index, allow the duplicate row... there are 1.7 million records for this table...
Here is problem... whenever i execute more than 100 times for this store procedure(usp_GetMemo(ID)) continuously, the CPU usage of Computer A is 3 times bigger than computer B....
I did run the command "DBCC DBReindex" , "Update Statistics" for this table on computer A, but did not make any difference...
Keep in mind that Computer A has been upgraded to SQL server 2000 while Computer B installed from scratch... would that make difference somehow?? Before the upgrading, the CPU usage of computer A is the same as Computer B...
Any help will be really appreciated, Thanks alot, Kim,
I wasn't able to connect to my SQL server 2000 database (which reside in the network in a windows 2003 server) after the IP address of the server has changed and the server is shut down, moved and re-started.
I was able to connect to this server by using ADO using VB. I was able to register this server in my EM and was able to create ODBC connection. Just when using ADO.NET, I wasn't able to connect. Any ideas? Will there be any caching within ADO.NET still pointing to the old IP address?
Hi All,I'm a relatively newbie to SQL Server 2000, having come from a MySQLbackground.I'm creating my first Trigger statement on a table, and I'd like toknow how I go about performing an update on the row that was changedwhen the trigger was fired.To explain, I have 2 columns, one which contains a member number, theother which contains a flag that is supposed to indicate whether ornot the member number in the row has changed since the last time thetable was processed for updates.So, whenever the value in the member number field [memnum] is updated,I want to set the flag [igproc] to true.The best I've been able to do is:CREATE TRIGGER [updateignoreprocflag] ON [dbo].[dd_testtable]FOR UPDATEASdeclare @key as intIF UPDATE (memnum)select @key = recid from insertedUPDATE dd_testtable set igproc=1 where recid=@keyThis seems to work, but I'd like to know if there's a better way ofretrieving the recid value of the changed row to pass to the UPDATEstatement? Also, I read somewhere in passing that using SELECTstatements and variable assignments within triggers can cause problemswhen called from other applications; in this case it will either be aweb site using ASP.or an application developed in FOXPRO. I can't findwhere I read this originally, so it's entirely possible I imagined itor misunderstood it, but I'd very much appreciate it if someone couldconfirm whether or not this is the case?Many, many thanks in advance!Much warmth,Murray
I have a table (represented by #Events) that holds modifications made to another table. I do have some control over the table structure and indexing. I want to pull all of the change records that were made between two dates.
The tricky part is to include the previous version of each record, which will usually be found prior to the start date in question.
The code that I have provided below works. So you can use it to easily see what should be returned. But it's very slow in production.
Any better method to pull this data together?
-- Production version of this table has 4.5 million rows (roughly 1,000 rows per day) -- Primary key is on L4Ident (clustered) -- nonclustered index on ProcessDate, LinkRL4 DROP TABLE dbo.#Events; DROP TABLE dbo.#Results; CREATE TABLE dbo.#Events ( L4Ident int IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL,
Hi Due to an impending acquisition the machine names of the SQL Server 2005 boxes are changing. Trying this in the DEV environment it seems that the SQL server instance name stays the same as the old machine name (It was installed using the default of the machine name) -- but the clients now won't connect with the old machine name, or the new machine name -- it only works with the IP address.
I'm guessing there's a sp_change_instance_machine_name or something along those lines but can't seem to find it in BOL. Can someone point me in the right direction?
I changed the login password on my computer today, and now I cannot connect to the SQL Server instance I have on that same machine. I am using Windows Authentication. I would think that, if I can log on to my computer, I would be able to connect to the database, since I have been "authenticated" by windows but, that does not appear to be the case. Can anyone offer any advice? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
I have an instance with 4 datafiles for tempdb each set at initial size of 4G and growth rate of 100MB. After some time the initial file sizes seem to have changed automatically. They now read 3962,100,3688 and 2847 respectively. Is this something done by SQL Server itself? I cannot imagine that it was done manually.
I don't think there was a restart after the initial sizes of 4G were set, could this be related to the problem?
isn't there an automatic log of some sort to check and see what exactly was changed by a given SQL command? A stored proc was ran and I need to figure out what exactly it changed in the underlying table.
