How can I accomplish the above. I need to insert distinct column from TableA to RecordProcess and col1+'Tr' to recordprocessExt.I can do it with cursor. I don't know any other way.

In the ECASE table there is trigger to get the max value of case_id column in ecase based on project and increment one to that case_id value and insert into ecase table .
When we insert a new record to the ECASE table this trigger calls and insert the case_id column value.
When i run with multiple threads , the transaction is rolled back because of trigger . The reason is , on the project table the lock is happening while getting the max value of case_id column based on project.

Hi, I have a table in which I will insert several redundant data. Don't ask why, is Integration services, it only reads data and inserts it in a SQL table. THis way, I have a SQL table with several lines repeating them selves. my channels number grows in #vert table like 1,2,3,4...and so Channel3, Channel4....so on in #hori table. So I cannot keep writing too many update statements. One other way is to pivot #vert table and do single update into #hori table.

I have an UPDATE statement that joins two table by SendId. One table, I'll call it T1, has a clustered index on SendId ASC. The other table I will call T2 also has a clustered index on SendID ASC. All the columns from T2 are used to update T1. The execution plan shows a Clustered index scan on T2 and a Clustered Index Seek on T1 going into a Nested Loops inner join. Immediately following is a Distinct Sort that is done on SendId ASC. Why the Distinct SORT if the tables are already ordered by SendID?

I have a Job that creates .CSV files at predetermined intervals (the delimiter is a tabstop) and every 5 minutes I have to retrieve These files one at a time and Import them into the relevant database.
My solution was to create a list of the files and insert this list into a temporary table where a Cursor would extract each filename one at a time and insert that Name into a BCP Statement. The BCP Statement is constructed using dynamic SQL.

Okay, I've been working on this for a couple of hours with no success. I'm trying to find the number of telephone numbers that are associated with multiple students at different school sites. I've created a temp table that lists all phone numbers that are associated with more than one student. I'm now trying to query that table and count the number of telephone numbers that are associated with more than one site. Essentially, I'm looking for parent/guardians that have students at different sites.
Here's an example of what I'm hoping to accomplish:
*In this example, I'm just trying to get a count of the different/distinct school sites associated with each number. If I can, at the same time, limit it to a count of > 1 (essentially excluding parents with students at the same site), even better :)

I am pulling three columns with the same names from 8 different tables. What I need to display the date, machine & test name and count how many times a test was run on a machine for that date. I have a feeling this can be handled by SSAS but haven't built an analysis cube yet because I am unfamiliar with how they work. I was wondering if this is possible in a simple query. I tried to set something up in a #Temp table. Problem is the query takes forever to run because I am dealing with 1.7 Million rows. Attempting to build a report were you can place a specific code in the parameter field and it will return all row values based on that particular code. I have a similar report that works great, but the specific code is just in 1 column, the one I'm trying to create has the potential to have that code in up to 20 different spots. I have the report built, but the issue I'm facing is linking the parameter. Is there a way to link 1 parameter to multiple column options?

Right now if I were to link the parameter to the Pend1 field, I would get every line I wanted that had Pend "123", but it would not include any of the lines where Pend "123" was in Pend 2, Pend 3, Pend 4, so on.
How would I link the parameter to more than 1 column so it would return all rows with a specific code no matter which Pend column it was in?
I am trying to write a query to calculate the running difference between data on different dates. Below is what my table of data looks like. Basically I want to calculate the difference between the total_completed for each state and date.

Is it possible to assign multiple columns from a SQL query to one variable. In the below query I have different variable (email, fname, month_last_taken) from same query being assigned to different columns, can i pass all columns to one variable only and then extract that column out of that variable later?
